Hello, not total newbie but am new to forums!

Just here to have a good time! My goal on this site is to get one of every type of dragon, and once I have that, one of every gender pose and hatchling pose. As I'm new I'm not really sure how unattainable that is, so I might just shorten it to non-event dragons if those are unable to get after the event is over or something. I also want to unlock all of the things in the encyclopedia, as I love reading about the lore and statistics for my dragons. A couple of my dragons have bios, but I'll get around to the rest of them eventually... all my dragon names are in my own conlang, Diivrelkae!

Hello and welcome! That's not an unattainable goal, actually. The only thing I can think of that's currently unattainable is a CB (cave-born) Vampire that wasn't created by an existing Vampire. I'm still working on my encyclopedia. :)

How'd you come up with that language?

@purpledragonclaw I created a base phonetics system based on what noises dragons/lizards are able to make with their mouths, and then I started building up a vocabulary. The grammar system is not done yet, but I have about 100-200 words in my dictionary. The words are largely centered around the ten elements of my story that the language is set in, and the two primordial gods Vos and Siir. It has a lot of compound words, and those are what my dragons' names are!

Welcome. Your comment about your dragon language piqued my interest as I studied linguistics (among some other things).  How did you go about a grammar for you language?

That is very cool! Reminds me of the language Rare created with Star Fox: Dinosaur Planet. :)

@AstreyaIt's not concrete yet, but it has a OSV structure and a strange numerical system that's both base four (religion and formal speak) and base ten (informal speak). There are a bunch of different dialects but they all have the same root language. To create it I basically read a bunch of books on conlanging. It's a really interesting subject honestly!

@Vexantil

That sounds interesting indeed. (I created several languages for my own stories, hence I'm a bit interested in other approaches).

The numerical system is interesting - do you think the base 4 might be derived from, say 4 claws, or wings + forelegs, or maybe 4 legs, depending  on the dragon breed?

@Astreya

It's actually based on their religious system, the two most important gods, Vos and Siir, and the two "aspects" of those gods, Suol and Muon.

But yes it's also because they have four fingers. The base 10 is because there are ten elements of dragons, but now that I'm thinking about it, I should probably switch around the formal and informal numerical systems

@Vexantil

Basing numbers on the religious system is an intriguing way to do things. Maybe it would make more sense then to keep it to the religious register altogether as the number is holy, and thus it might even be taboo to use this in secular settings.
