Welcome to the Photography Contest!

Welcome back for another round of the DC Photography contest, come and show us what you've got! 

 

This time, the theme is: Pets

 

Submission deadline: May 11

 

Voting deadline:  May 25

 

Rules:

- One entry per person.

- Picture has to be made by yourself and can't be just a reproduction of someone's work. If someone else's work is in the picture, there needs to be something extra.

- No manipulation besides basic photo adjustments (contrast, exposure, cropping, color balance, lighting, etc.).

- No text or framing in the photo. A signature/watermark is just fine, but it's preferable if you don't have "O Hai Eye Hav3 T3XT" (or something similar) present in the photo.

- When voting, please don't select your own image. This will ensure fairness.

- You are free to submit an old photo; you don't need to take a new one just for this competition.

- Winner hosts the next contest.

My Cat Taz. Took the picture of him looking out the window. It's always been my favorite picture of him.

It was taken on my old crappy phone and I tried cleaning it up a bit.

Lannister collars were an ugly yellow (only seen the small picture in the catalog so I don't know what it really looked like, my boss only ordered the one I wanted) 😆 but Loki lives up to his name ¬¬

OK so - this is Flurp, our last cat ever, for whom my scroll is named. He always lay like that when not curled into a ball. That's why we called him.... He was a rescue cat. We were told he was 18 months old. A lie - he was at least 8 - the vet said, when we  promptly had to get his teeth cleaned. I think I actually got an RSPCA shelter closed down over this cat...

 

But he had some happy years with us. Learning about outdoors (he had never been) and what grass is, and stuffs.

when we first got Max, he was called KittyRoo.  he was named by a kid.  but only many years later, it clicked.  Max didn't really run, he sorta hopped like a rabbit, so you know you come up with a bunch of other names to call the kitties? well hubby called him Hoppy.  some years ago, i said he hopped like a kangaroo.  only he wasn't a KANGAroo, he was a KITTYroo.

Aww, I love looking at all the pet pictures! Great choice of a topic, trystan.  

 

I also love KittyRoo! Reminds me of how when my parents first started dating, my dad had a cat named "Tacocat" by his previous girlfriend. It took me telling my mom many years later for her to realize that it was a palindrome and not just a completely out of the blue reference to Mexican food.  We also own a dog now who had his eye poked out as a stray, and when we got him from the rescue his name was Popeye, oof.
