Im fully vaccinated, now!  Do you think it's safe to go see my friend with 0 vaccines? Should we wear masks?

Kinda? Wear masks! Definitely. And keep your distance. Can you convince your friend to also get vaccinated?

And congrats on being fully vaccinated! :)

I think they were suppose to get theirs, but caught a cold and couldn't - they want to get one.

Excellent. Hope they can soon!

My parents are unvaccinated, and I'm staying with my fully vaccinated friend/their dad (also fully vaxxed) and when I visit my parents, I never wear a mask. But in public I wear a mask. Explain that logic, amirite?

My dad refuses the vaccine, since "I've had it before, and I can't get it again." It drives me crazy, and he'll argue all day about it. So we never discuss any of it.

Anyway. Yeah. In my experience, I've visited my unvaxxed parents, and I've been totally fine.

In Germany, there is currently a clearly visible Northwest/Southeast division Covid-wise. As in the Southeastern Länder, the vaccination rates are markedly lower than in the Northwestern Länder, the 7-day-incidence there is considerably higher:

Wow. There really is a huge difference.

Since the election, the daily updates are taking longer and longer to be released. It's quite frustrating. And the pre-election promise of free testing for all and we'll get rid of the health visa, of course have not happened. Not a surprise at all.

@Lagie

The updates  of the numbers in Germany  differ between the Länder - some of them are a bit slower than the others, too. Particularly the vaccination numbers are usually updated in longer intervals now, probably because the numbers are sadly low nowadays.

I'm just watching a press conference of a medical coordinator in Landshut, a municipality in Bavaria (very right bottom of the Germany chart above) who just announced that they have to postpone non-essential surgeries to be able to handle the rising number of Covid patients, about 90% of whom are unvaccinated.

Today the RKI reported 33 949 new cases for the whole of Germany - and the dark number will likely be much higher as PCR tests nowadays have to be paid by people who are unvaccinated by choice (and not due to medical reasons).

I really wonder why it doesn't get into the brains of the anti-vaxxers that the risks a live virus poses that can't be controlled than possible risks of a vaccine that is closely monitored and only contains inactive particles of a virus which will be completely dissolved by the body within a few days. So far we do not know if the virus can't stay dormant in the body like the measles or herpes virus and possibly show up again years later, so people who fear for long-term risks of a vaccine should far more be afraid of possible long-term risks of SARS-CoV-2 proper.

As for the side-effect of blood-clotting that showed up a few months ago after vaccinations - I will quote a part of a study for you:

Quote

In the eight to 28 days after patients had received the first dose of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine, an increased risk of rare blood clotting events and low platelet counts were reported. In the same period after the first dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine, an increased risk of blood clots and strokes due to the restricted blood flow to the brain have also been reported.

However, the researchers noted that these adverse effects were much higher following SARS-CoV-2 infection.

The study also estimated that 107 people for every 10 million people exposed to the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine might develop thrombocytopenia, 66 for venous thromboembolism, and seven for cerebral venous sinus thrombosis (CVST). Meanwhile, the team estimates about 143 cases of ischemic stroke for the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine.

On the other hand, SARS-CoV-2 infection may cause an estimated 934 extra cases of thrombocytopenia, 12,614 cases of venous thromboembolism, 1,699 cases of ischemic stroke, and 20 of CVST. Thus, the risk of these vascular events is significantly higher as compared to those that might occur post-vaccination.

By now the numbers in Germany really explode. The first municipality, Rottal-Inn in Bayern/Bavaria reached a 7-day incidence of 1140.4 today, which you can see in black on the bottom-right of the chart:

Still Germany is divided into the north-west with slightly fewer infections and south-east much higher infection rates (and lower vaccine intake).

With 50 196 new infections today (Nov 11), the RKI reported the highest number of new infection that we have seen in one day in Germany so far. Additionally we have a positivity rate of 16.03% (up from 12.2% last week) that shows that the infections are fast running out of control.

As today (Nov 11) is the start of the carnival season with many festivities (and lots of people hanging in one spot and partying), we can expect the infections going up even more, even though many places demand "2G", that is, access only for people who are doubly vaccinated "geimpft" or recovered from a Covid-19 infection "genesen".

As of today, Thursday, November 11, 09:30 GMT+1, my home town (population 211 000) has 324 (+50) active cases, while 12 781 (+10)  people are considered to have recovered. 386 (+-0) persons sadly died.  568 persons are currently quarantined. The number of newly infected people per 100 000 citizens in the last 7 days is 119.3 (+17.2)  / Incidence for NRW: 154.3 (+6.4).

Currently 47 (+1) persons are treated in hospital, with 3 (+-0) of them in intensive care, 2 (+-0) of them needing artificial respiration.

As of today, Friday, November 12, 10:00 GMT+1, my home town (population 211 000) has 339 (+15) active cases, while 12 809 (+28)  people are considered to have recovered. 386 (+-0) persons sadly died.  619 persons are currently quarantined. All in all there have been 13 534 (+43) people who suffered from Covid-19 since the beginning of the pandemic. The number of newly infected people per 100 000 citizens in the last 7 days is 118.8 (-0.5)  / Incidence for NRW: 157.0 (+2.7).

Currently 51 (+4) persons are treated in hospital, with 5 (+3) of them in intensive care, 2 (+-0) of them needing artificial respiration.

There have been 147 452 (1st jab, 69.9%) and 139 216  (2nd jab, 66.0%) and 6146 (3rd jab, 2.9%) vaccinations so far. (Vaccination data from Nov 10, 2021).

:( Wow that is a lot of cases. Stay safe!

We have been under 5% positivity for the past six days. Our emergency orders end tomorrow but the new government has continued things like the mask mandate (and fines), social distancing, entry limitations for shops (1 person per 30 square feet) limited numbers at funerals, weddings, and social events at home, indoor dining only for the fully vaccinated.

Hopefully the positivity rate stays down. We're at 22,573 cases, 47 in hospital (8 in the ICU), and 665 deaths:( .

@Lagie

Yeah, and unfortunately people are very unreasonable as they want to party in the carnival season - and this when a carnival party in Heinsberg last year was the initial super-spreader event in Germany! Additionally it's the season for the German Weihnachtsmärkte (=Christmas markets), and so far it seems as if the organisers wants to go through with them, too. I guess we can expect a further rise of the infections very soon.

In the South-east we now have incidence numbers well beyond 500 in some locations, but the North-west very likely will follow due to the carnival start:

@Kestra15

Dear me, that doesn't sound good either. Please stay safe, too!

Yay for all people who already got their boosters! chaka.gif.065a2778db9757b74c24def9af1f303e.gif

My appointment for my booster is on January 12 as my second jab was at the end of June.

In Germany the numbers only have one direction at the moment - up. The 7-day incidence per 100 000 people for the whole of Germany is at 340.7 right now, and the positivity rate of laboratory confirmed PCR tests is at 17.3%.

And this still doesn't really take into account the infections that were possibly caused by the carnival opening a week ago. -_-'

Just for the reason that I'm epileptic. But really would not have any jab at all... (I have my own reasons not to)

Take care everyone!

PS: I'm freeking sick of Covid tbh 😕 I don't know why I replied.  Just to let everyone now that I haven't had been vaccinated, I guess ;) Not a single time...

People posting about getting boosters, are the places you live recommending boosters for everyone at this stage? As far as I know we are still in the 'boosters recommended for the more vulnerable' area, it says they may be recommended for everyone eventually but right now only people considered more vulnerable are eligible (unless something changed in the past two days that I don't know about).

We just recently started vaccinating children ages 5 and older, though so far I haven't seen any stats on how many are actually getting it.  Our new-cases numbers are unsettlingly high recently but thankfully the deaths have remained pretty low the past few weeks. Yesterday 50 new cases reported, the day before 26. Today's stats:

I think it's been confirmed that we can have boosters whenever (after the 6 month wait of course) just today, but since I have conditions, I think I could have gotten it anyway.

As for @_Terminus24, I'd rather not discuss if I should have gotten it or not, as it's my decision, and I think that I'm helping people. I'd have gotten it last year if my grandmother could have been saved, but alas, it was before the vaxx even was released that we lost her.

@HeatherMarie boosters are allowed for anyone except children in my area, as long as it's been six months since your last covid vaccination.
