What is your favorite animal?

Hamsters.

 

Syrians tend to be friendlier and easier to tame, but then i've only had one dwarf hammie and she was the embodiement of pure adorable evil. The vet who almost lost a finger will agree.

 

Hamsters are just the best animals.

I love all animals! Horses are among my favorites, but especially zebras. I also love cats and dogs.

 

Professionally, I've worked in the past with macaws, small wildcats, and shelter dogs and cats.

 

As far as pets go, I'm limited by small space, so I've had hamsters, rats, and goldfish. I'd like to have a rabbit or ferret someday, though!

 

I also like mythical animals like unicorns and dragons

Bats! Mostly microbats, but flying foxes are cool (and cute) too. The fact that they're the only mammal capable of true flight is amazing.

For domestic animals: Cats. Specifically my cat, which is of course the best animal.

Dogs, but I don't really have a pet, I did when I was a kid. Nowadays I don't have a dog because I have a small house and really, it's a shame for my pet not to have some room to

stretch her/his legs. If you get what I mean... Not cool to get a dog and not have the room that they deserve 🤔

My favorite is  dog. Particularly collie or shep mixes.

 

I miss having Lucy, my collie/shep mix, but I have a permanent reminder of her.

 

She tore my Achilles Tendon when I was walking her and she was frightened by a loud noise. She flipped me in the air, and I have a large Z-shaped scar on my leg from the surgery.

 

Cancer got her. She was 12. She was hit by a car before we adopted her and her front leg had healed wrong. We got thru mamory tumors, pancreatic tumors, and she  had to be scanned every year because of the increased possibility of bone cancer.   Something like blasto got her in the end.

I have sooo many favorite animals but the first that come to mind are tapeworms!! Probably not most people's first choice lol but what can I say I just like them. I also think bacteria & microorganisms are just awesome. The human body is like it's own world with trillions of little animals living in it, I think its only fair that they get some attention too once in awhile 🪱

I love possums. Every spring there are baby possums in my yard. There are four of them at the moment.  I feed them avocados, strawberries, cucumbers, lettuces, and their favorite seems to be apple slices and avocados. They are so cute and they are so fun to watch when they are eating. They hold their food in these tiny little hands and I can see them smiling as they are chomping on their fruits and vegetables. Their little faces are just so cute.

Possums are so sweet and adorable. I was first introduced to them due to having territorial dogs that would leave them as presents for me to find in the morning, but now that I have less territorial dogs I can appreciate how gentle they are. 

 

Wolves are my favorite animals. Pack hunters that can lope for an hour, playful personalities, and understanding the importance of the collective good of the group. Plus they howl to communicate.

I love hummingbirds.  They are so small and always moving, like little rainbows of feathers. They come in all different colors and I have also seen grey ones in my backyard.

my favorite animals are bats and sharks, lol. always have been. my favorite breed of dog is chihuahuas and i really want to own rats as pets when i get the chance (:!! i could go on and on; i've always had chihuahuas (and other dogs) growing up, they just make me so happy and i love their energy. i like bats because i like chihuahuas, haha. when i was little i thought they looked similar sometimes, and as ive gotten older i only like them more and more as i learn.

 

i also am like.. hyperempathetic or something, so if something is disliked, i tend to gravitate toward it to see its better qualities and etc. its why i prefer small dogs (i used to get quite the interesting comments in highschool about my dog..) and its why i love sharks. they're misrepresented!! theyre pretty sweet, imo...

 

for rats, well. i was looking for a pet that i could keep that wouldnt be breaking our landlord's pet policy. at first i was looking into snakes and reptiles, but i learned i preferred rodents, so.. and then looking from there i found rat care guides, and i absolutely fell in love with the little guys. i cant wait to move out and get my own mischief, hehe.

I particularity like animals you can see in your own yard. I frequently get lightly chastised by one of my dear loves for stopping whatever I was doing at the time, to look at some squirrel or anole or opossum or hawk outside our window for minutes at a time. I also enjoy seeing bats fluttering about at dusk. It is almost magical to see the sun start to slowly and see sets of black wings fluttering about, swooping to catch their breakfast for the night.

My baby possums have grown up.  There was a ten pounder in my yard at dawn.  He was so cute.  I had put out avocados, strawberries,  and honeydew melon slices for them.. They are eating the food every night but I hadn't seen them since they were teeny tiny until this morning.

dogs all the way. we've always had a dog in my house. i greet and pet almost every dog i see on the street lol (as long as the owners will allow me, and if they're strays i'm careful). my mom is always telling me to stop petting random dogs because i get left behind haha
