recovering old account

So -- it's been a long, long time since i logged into to Dragon Cave. I was able to recover my forum account alright -- but when I try to recover my cave account using the same email, I can't find the recovery email that was sent to me. When I try to have the email resent, the site suddenly claims that no such account exists with that email. Is this just because I'm trying to get two emails sent within a 24-hour period? How can I recover my cave account still?

Maybe you used to have a different email ? I use a different one for cave and forum.

all the other emails i would have used, i lent to friends to create their own accounts 😕 i've only ever had three email accounts, and the other two are already associated with different scrolls

Yeah, i checked all my folders -- no dice.

Does anyone know what happens if you try to send multiple password-reset emails within a twenty-four hour period?

If it's anything like every other place I have tried to do it - well, on another forum I'm on, there were 87 attempts by a hacker to reset my password in the space of an hour, the other day. I still have all the emails with the verification inks to prove it - they didn't have any idea what my e-mail was so never got the chance to actually do it.

 

You have to have the wrong email address.

Have you actually checked if you account still exists? Try to view your dragons via the dragcave.net/user/your_scrollname_here link. Because I can imagine the following scenario:

Since you lent your two extra emails to friends to create their accounts, you might have used one of them - and when you got your email sent, DC auto-checked whether the email was used for one or more accounts - and burnt both because of multi-scrolling. Not saying that that kind actually happens, but it's the kind of security feature I could imagine TJ using.

The password-lost function does not actually ask for a scroll name, only for an email address.
