Posted January 12, 2019 (edited) I have a male Purple from two days after their release, and I'm pretty sure he had this look right from when he grew up. https://dragcave.net/view/GFi5 IF that strange curly thing has ever been active, it must have been rather short. Possibly even only in TJ's own adults. A good hint is the revision date of the current male Purple sprite: /latest?cb=20100330013554 which means it must have been active already 4 days after the release. I'd say we can attempt a lineage with zombies at a later time, as a side quest for necromancers or somesuch (I'm off for the weekend so that's all I can contribute for now. Please tell me I'm not just thinking of my own compilation of dimorphic sprites that got locked and archived after the mods decided (several days later) it was spoilers? Which is why we generally just try to get close to the release date in the early phase, rather than spot-on. Speaking of branching out, I have good news and bad news. ❤️ The good news is that A Short Dragon Cave History and Of Two-Headed Dragons like each other. The bad news is they gave me a split, when I wanted a bloodscale. https://dragcave.net/lineage/8qyzF - does anyone want to play around with this boy? I'll try again with breeding a bloodscale next week (and probably the week after that, and...). Eventually we can start parallelising to minimise hold-ups like this, but the beginning's always going to be tough like this. To avoid breeding ennui, I also have A Short History to try, although I would prefer getting a bloodscale from A Short Dragon Cave History (because A Short History has offspring used in lineages already, and if he can ultimately keep his name, I'm sure the fella would appreciate it - nothing's named after his old name, so it's not pressing, but it does generate a preference ^_^). Posted January 16, 2019 I wouldn't mind renaming my two described. They will just get blanked/new descriptions. It wouldn't be the first time I quietly changed a name or description on my dragons (they seem not to mind ). Welcome to the project - thanks for letting us know about your Duotones! Would you be willing to rename either of those to something trivia-ish? Here's what we're trying to do with these spirals, taken from the first post: Quote CB dragons contributing to the lineage can come from any scroll, but should be caught on the date of the release. Sometimes this will be tricky to impossible, but we should pitch in an honest effort, and always prefer dates as close to the release as possible. Except for the initial CBs (which will be called The Release History and Of Dragon Cave), dragons should be named with some piece of trivia relating to the release they represent. For example, you might name a pair something like Black Dragons Were x Amongst The First. However, since we're predominantly using pre-existing CB dragons in this project, this is not a hard rule (just a very nice to have). I don't want anyone feeling like they can only contribute their rare dragon if they rename it. In that case, it's entirely sufficient to name the offspring something trivia-like. In this case, since we already have a willing Duotone candidate to fall back on, the renaming is a little less optional than the post talks about, but if you say "I won't rename - but I really, really want to be part of this project, please!", or anything along those lines, realistically speaking, knowing my track record at insisting on things, I'm probably going to give in. The process works like this: Dracaena is going to raise the bloodscale my dergs popped out. Once it's grown, she can breed her release-date bloodscale to it.
