Dino Hunting?

I'm really curious as to dino hunting works exactly. I've heard some people just sit on the page and refresh for hours but is there an easier way at all? I've been wanting to help my friend find a dino for a while now (by catching one and trading it to her with a magi, no rule breaking here X3) 

 

Is there any tips some vets could share with me? Advice? Or is there really only just one way to do it.

Sit in the jungle and refresh. You can try focussing on the 5-minute shuffles or the full-hour drops - that when most rares pop up.

In addition to Ruby Eyes' post:

 

Try to a) remember at least some signal words of their egg descriptions, and b) stop yourself from reflex clicking on vine eggs (they do have a similarly long description)

 

It might help if there is something else from the jungle you want because you often find Dinos when you aren't looking for them specifically.

 

[If you don't find them, don't give up - some days you have better luck than others... e.g. you might not see them for days and then grab 2 in less than 2 hours (= personal experience)

"Easier" could also be looking through the trade hub to get an idea want people want for Dino eggs and then hunt for those things - I usually trade my Dinos away for certain 1-3 Xenos or Zyus - maybe others do as well]

Sit and wait, lol. That's what I do, for hours and hours. They only drop in the Jungle, which makes things a little easier since you don't have to tab back and forth through the biomes. While the 5-minute shuffles are often good times to catch rares, I've actually grabbed multiple Dinos on off-times. I think a lot of people don't refresh on the off times, like :07 and such, so if something is taken and a Dino appears it may not be snatched as quickly. 

 

Also, all Dinos have long descriptions, longer then most other breeds in the Jungle. I've gotten a few Dinos simply by quickly clicking on a long description without even looking at any of the words... I've gotten burned a few times that way, accidentally grabbing a Vine instead, but I think it was worth it.

Aim for "This egg looks like it doesn't belong." For me, doesn't belong always jumps right at me. (And, yes, that's only the first part of each dino description.)

It's easier to get rares like Dinos when new dragons are released because everyone tries to get them. Since the beginning of this Halloween event I manged to grab a chicken and a few Xenos and Zyus.
