To be fair, dark Luminae *were* a change to an existing breed. Those are always a bit tougher to tolerate than new breeds for which no lineages exist yet :)

Very true. The appearance of dark luminae effectively hamstrung my existing regular-lumina lineages. If this new breed had the exact same breeding mechanism, I would just never start such a project with them in the first place and it wouldn't bother me, since it wouldn't affect anything I was already working on.

I would like to take a moment from worrying about glowies to expressing my love for the murder baby chickens with glowy googly eyes. Someone mentioned they hope they'll make a good counterpart to female dark mysts; I hope so, too! They're one of my favorite pygmies, but the only pairing I've really liked with them thus far is Pumpkins.

I LOVE that combination, oh my gosh! I want to do that. I only have one female dark myst, so if one of my murder chickens genders male, that'll be perfect!

I take them as a challenge. Has worked well so far:

Calendar: https://dragcave.net/lineage/EZIiF

Progressive: https://dragcave.net/lineage/v79Th

All indigo: https://dragcave.net/lineage/eOWm1

All colours: https://dragcave.net/lineage/zCOMD

All yellow: https://dragcave.net/lineage/SJLTF

Inside-out "checker": https://dragcave.net/lineage/ipdR8

I think annoyance is mostly a matter of perception, in such cases.

they're lovely :)

i especially like the blue lunars with blue nebbies. might have to do one of those...

i've been naming my murder chickens:  psycho chicken, beware the murder chicken, and fear the murder chicken :D

I'm sad that we still have just under a full day to see what the adults will look like. I'm so curious. Both have so much potential and I love their baby sprites so much. ❤️

That's putting a lot of words into my mouth. I do believe I said I was on neutral ground. I'm not here to contribute to any arguments. I'm just trying to enjoy a site I've logged on to for half a decade, express my annoyances (which everyone has a right to do) and compliment on the things I do like.

...I should've rephrased my sentence. I knew you're on neutral, I didn't mean to alter what you're trying to say >.< I was trying to say what I understood from your post.

Yeeeesss. There is nothing in the rules saying that we can't express frustration about a new release. But it seems some people think they need to get on everyone's case if everyone doesn't totally love everything about a new release. Sometimes simply posting frustration and being able to see that other people feel that way too is a *huge* help in letting go of that frustration, but constantly being told that you shouldn't have those feelings and you are overreacting, that's just going to make the frustration worse.

Yeah so I didn't know this thread could also be a rant thread, that's my fault on that one. Back to the problem, the fact that the number of people frustrated is not small, it just feels like something that needs to be done. Because if the rumors are true, I assume that the next new releases will have more complicated mechanics. I was probably too frontal regarding my personal opinions of the site, my fault too for that. But in overall, do you agree with those complicated breeding mechanics, or the next new releases should be devoid from those altogether?

Yes, that's exactly what happened. All 6 were purple at first and the colors of the last 4 were changed a while later to blue and green respectively.

You know... now I wonder if it IS based on day hatched. Although the (admittedly minor) comments from the spriter make me feel it's not that arbitrary or that straightforward.

Quote

I still think they're way too big to be a pygmy, but that's the only flaw I can find with them. Murder chickens 5eva ❤️

@Aalbiel one of the spriters also made the Magelights, who are also large-ish for pygmies, but I'm fine with it (they also made Pumpkins, which is obviously a different case, but still ironic!). Still small, but large enough to see more details then, say, Kyanites or Crimson Flares. Chunky pygmies for LIFE! XD

I agree the murder chickens might look awesome with dark mysts if they keep that coloration. And I will never, ever think of them as anything other then murder chickens, regardless of what their name turns out to be, lol. Some nicknames really stick! I kind of like that these seem 'too big' to be pygmies, a lot of the pygmies we have look really tiny and delicate, while these guys are still within general pygmy limits they look much more hardy and strong, I like that.

Regarding the pygmies, I named them "I am not a murder chicken" and "I am not a parrot either". When I get to see the adults I might rename them 😆

It's all good. There were several ruffled feathers and slip-ups are easy to make on both sides. *hugs* we cool. ;)

Speaking of which, the one egg I have is arranged before my Dark Green and other green dragons when I sorted by colour. Does that mean anything? I know my Nocturnes would jump around the scroll every time day breaks.

Honestly I'm so bad at remembering the names of dragons that murder chickens will be the easiest thing for me to remember. XD And I agree! The "bigger" build makes it more like pygmies have their own individual sizes, and also makes them look tougher.

edit: Welp. I just locked myself with more spot kiddos. Ready for my last murder chicken and my AP egg to hatch.

Just like how I'm trying to breed a 4G stairstep with Spirit Wards and purple Nebulas. :D Easily got the line to 2G, but now it's been stuck there as my 2G Neb flat out refuses to give anything but Spirit Ward eggs. But I'll keep going and keep on banging my head against a wall until I get a 4th gen purple Nebula.

So far all of my "glowies" hatched green. Not that I mind, I like how they look. Wish I could get some purples too, purple is my favorite color.

That was probably me, I'm already tempted to re-do the lower half of this lineage! (But it took sooo long!)

I'm thinking the new pygmies may also look nice with Pumpkins.

I hate myself for not noticing the release until now. It's cool to see another pygmy released.

I wonder how the colors for the one with alts are determined... I hope it's not by catch location again, I'm always lazy during releases and just camp in one biome to catch :P

The late eggs I got have just hatched, and still green.

What is the catch date on those? Does it say July 29th or July 30th?

Imagine these pygmies have a special ability to breed with chickens...

...and they make tiny, murderous cockatrices :P

(bonus, roosters also appear in cave unannounced!)

I don't believe it is by biome. I've had Forest, Alpine and Coast all green hatched on the 31st. I believe the mechanic is based off hatch date.

Ahhhh! I'm sorry, my comment has nothing to do with your quote, but THAT'S where I thought the Murder Chickens looked familiar. Your avatar! The sprites remind me of your avatar!

I concur about the biomes.

Perhaps influencing? I've influenced them all.....

And incubated them all.

Or the other colors are breed only's? Like the Undine, I think.
