Posted July 22, 2018 (edited) I'm trying to find out the proportion of (bred) Ridgewings which come out tan. In order to help with this, please provide progeny (children) links for ridgewings which have had children below. The rough probability of a Ridgewing being tan is then given by: tan children / total ridgewing children If you submit ridgewings, submit all you have, not just ones which have bred tans or anything silly like that. Also, if you can, please add the number of each color you got, to save time. The data provided so far has produced the result that about a quarter (162 of 582, assuming I counted right) come out tan. Posted July 22, 2018 (edited) I have a project with Tan Ridgewings, so here goes (number of Purples / number of Tans). What to keep in mind: 1 - They're all Tans themselves. 2 - I usually stop breeding them once they've produced a Tan. 3 -Turps as partners... most of their offspring are Turps. 4- In January, there was a small wave of Tans in my breeding. I bred 4 tans in that month. https://dragcave.net/progeny/1QgKn : 5/2 https://dragcave.net/progeny/6QNke 1/1 (the Vampire was probably Purple, too, but I don't count her) https://dragcave.net/progeny/TThAw 1/1 https://dragcave.net/progeny/vRODJ 1/0 https://dragcave.net/progeny/xWF6z 2/0 https://dragcave.net/progeny/N8xew 0/1 https://dragcave.net/progeny/2a128 2/1 https://dragcave.net/progeny/1Myxm 1/0 https://dragcave.net/progeny/AgkXq 1/0 https://dragcave.net/progeny/Z81HP 3/0 https://dragcave.net/progeny/IhoGY 0/1 https://dragcave.net/progeny/vdqi3 1/1 https://dragcave.net/progeny/O5PpR 1/0 https://dragcave.net/progeny/dAwHW 0/1 https://dragcave.net/progeny/SzmfU 1/0 https://dragcave.net/progeny/GKznW 1/0 https://dragcave.net/progeny/5C3js 2/0 https://dragcave.net/progeny/79mRh 1/0 https://dragcave.net/progeny/em0Va 0/1 https://dragcave.net/progeny/p8Gue 1/0 Edit: 25/10 is the total ratio Edited July 22, 2018 by Fly-by-Night Share this post Link to post

Posted July 22, 2018 Why do you say ridgewings with 0 tan children would "bias the study"? If a dragon has a dozen purple offspring and no tan and you don't include it, you would assume tans are more common than they really are. Posted July 23, 2018 To get any kind of stats you need to include every bred ridgewing.... I'm sorry - I have too many.... Share this post Link to post
Posted July 25, 2018 As far as setting up a basic ratio goes this is fine, but if you want to be real technical about it you should have everyone breed a bunch of Ridgewings right now and post the results. With past bred things there’s the possibility that tans were more likely to survive than purples due to being more sought after in the AP, which could artificially inflate their numbers among the surviving progeny. Again that’s only if you want to be REALLY technical with it, haha. Share this post Link to post

That would be a good idea for investigating other alts, but I think that the current figure of about 1 in 4 being tan is good enough for most uses. Share this post Link to post

Never seen an egg die from timer in AP, apart from Holiday walls of course. However I suppose it's possible that in the past tans were more/less likely to be bred because coding was tweaked or something, alas, we shall never know. I still think even looking at older Ridgewings will give us a pretty good idea. My results: 1 - 1/4 (1 tan out of 4 total Ridgewing offspring) 2 - 0/1 3 - 1/1 4 - 1/3 5 - 0/6 Edited July 27, 2018 by Aalbiel Share this post Link to post

They die on people's scrolls who just seem to forget them (seen it for my own massbreeding results), or they're used in experiments for NDs, possibly, or they get bitten and turn into Vampires or eggshells.
