Forum account settings display name confusion

In my forum settings, the 'display name' page says this:

• You have made 0 of 1 display name changes since 09/01/2008. You are permitted to make 1 change in a 90-day period.

 

Notice the 2008 date on there. I changed my display name towards the end of January, so the 90-day 'cooldown' is up, so maybe that has something to do with it? As I'm typing this I realize that the date shown there is my forum join date, so I guess at least it's not a totally random date. It still seems like a bug though because it's saying I have 'made 0 of 1' changes since I joined, but that's not really true, I did make 1 change, it's just that the 90-day period is over. It's possible nothing can be done about this because it's part of the forum software or whatever, but if it *can* be tweaked maybe it should say something like 'You have made 0 of 1 display name changes in the past 90 days', at least that would actually be accurate.

LIkewise. I made one change in January and like HM, mine shows my join date rather than the date I did that.

Your old display names are still accessible through your profile, so the forum registers in other places that you have made a name change. As far as I know, you are only able to see this message through your own account and it doesn't impact the way other users gain information about your name changes, which is good.

 

I assume it's just a reference to the 90 day cool down period. The fact that it says 'of 1' suggests the limit. It would be equally inaccurate if it read:

Because that would suggest you're at your limit and can't change it again. I think the date being there is misleading. It seems the information isn't actually recording how many name changes you've had, but how many you have remaining (so that you can track whether you are able to make a new name change). Since your cool down is up, you have one remaining. I know the date makes it technically inaccurate, but I'm not sure there's anything that can actually be done about it unless TJ knows a way to manually edit the phrasing and remove the date entirely.

The date should actually be today minus 90 days. That's the only date relevant to that limit.

If the actual date can't be automatically related to the last date you changed, it could just read (for me)

When you try to change it, it won't give the option if you did it too recently, and you can see the last date from your name history.
