The Divergent Experiment - Group Lineage Project

In a post-apocalyptic world, society has been divided into five factions: Abnegation, Amity, Candor, Dauntless, and Erudite. When children in each faction come of age, their aptitude is tested according to their personality and disposition, and they are allowed to leave the faction of their birth to finish their lives in a new faction. Those who do not complete this initiation are banished from the factions, becoming factionless and falling to the fringes of society, where they often live in poverty.

Rarely, an individual arises with an aptitude for multiple factions, marking them as Divergent and a potential threat to the society's peace and safety. Thus, they must keep their difference hidden for their own protection. And yet, the greatest secret of all is that the creation of these Divergent is the purpose of this grand experiment, to create individuals with the characteristics of all the factions in order to save the world.

RULES/GUIDELINES

FACTIONS

This is a purebred striped dragon group lineage project. As the breeding of stripes randomly produces one of five colors (black, blue, green, red, and white), each color is representative of one faction:

Dragons of the Abnegation faction are green.

Dragons of the Amity faction are red.

Dragons of the Candor faction are white. (All normal CBs will start in Candor.)

Dragons of the Dauntless faction are black.

Dragons of the Erudite faction are blue.

NAMING
All dragons of this lineage must have the following format for their names:

"(Name) of (Faction)" (default) or
"(Name) the Divergent" (see next bullet)
The ultimate goal of the project is to obtain dragons with all five colors in their lineages. Once that occurs, the dragon becomes Divergent regardless of its color and is allowed to use the following format for its name: "(Name) the Divergent." They are not required to take on the title of Divergent and may simply continue to pledge allegiance to the appropriate faction if desired.
Offspring of at least one Divergent dragon who has proclaimed its divergence must take on "the Divergent" title. If both of the parents have not proclaimed their divergence (if applicable) and retain their faction titles, the offspring may choose to be "of (Faction)" as appropriate or "the Divergent."

BREEDING

All dragons in this lineage should be even-gen.
Dragons of this lineage may only breed with other dragons of this lineage, from the same faction and generation.
Divergent dragons may breed with other Divergent dragons of any color (as long as both have declared their divergence), or with dragons of the faction whose color they share otherwise. The mates must still be of the same generation.
Please avoid inbreeding. Dragons should not be frozen unless there has been a mistake in breeding (non-even-gen, inbreeding, out-of-faction breeding).

DRAGONS JOINING/LEAVING THE PROJECT

Any purebred striped dragon may join this lineage as long as their lineage conforms to the breeding rules, with each pair of parents being the same color, though the same generation may have different colors within it (see forms below for entering a faction). They must be appropriately named as per the lineage rules to be recorded into their faction.
Any striped dragon from this lineage with no offspring yet may leave the lineage (see forms below for leaving a faction/the project). Factionless dragons may not include "of (Faction)" or "the Divergent" in their name; if necessary, this means that the name should be changed upon leaving. Factionless dragons are forbidden from breeding with dragons in factions, but they may breed with other Factionless dragons (striped or otherwise) if desired.

Remember that you don't have to start from CBs. As long as the lineage of the dragon matches the rules (each individual dragon comes from parents of the same color, though grandparent+ generations can have multiple colors in them), you can enter it into the lineage. If you have questions about whether a specific dragon is eligible, feel free to ask me via pm. ^^

I might use one of my reserved posts for example lineages to illustrate if needed. :3

Do the CBs need to be named according to your naming scheme, too?

Although, funnily and totally unrelated to your project, my CB White Stripes have names like Candidaia, Candidaion etc.

Hey guys, thanks for your interest!

@OutlawQueen No, you do not have to start out with CBs. I waited a while to breed up some 2Gs for this before posting the thread so I could help out with breeding higher gens for people who might not have CBs but might have eligible 2-3Gs. ^^

@Astreya CBs (or even higher generations) do not need to follow the naming scheme; they can enter at any point as long as their lineage follows the rules (with an exception for non-white CBs since I'm sure people would appreciate getting altkin/Thuweds). So the 2Gs don't need to be renamed and the 3G can simply enter the lineage as an Abnegation dragon. I just wanted to start with some CBs personally. ^^

If the dragon doesn't follow the rules, though, it's not allowed in. For instance, if the 3G had non-matching mother and father in the second generation, it wouldn't be admitted since the immediate parents of each dragon have to be from the same faction unless they're Divergent.

(Also, that naming is a hilarious coincidence.)

Sounds perfect for me as I have an ample amount of 2nd gen Stripes from all Stripe CBs. I guess that means I could simply rename all 3rd gen PBs, which would mean there'd be a veritable horde of dragons for your project already as I had a breeding project that would have been very similar to yours. It was supposed to consist of four pure colour PB Stripes that I wanted to breed together to create a 4 sided (red-blue-green-black= pyramid that started with a complete white base and that should be topped by a completely white top. ^^

So, I have now sorted my Stripes into a group that gives a better overview. I think it might be a good idea if you could take a look if the dragons are usable that way. That sounds like a super impressive lineage.

I looked through the group, and they look good. Anything single-color PB is definitely eligible for joining the lineage, which it looks like yours are. (Also, you have so many CBs. o.o)

Well, if anyone needs any 2nd gens or third gens, I can easily breed those (if the dragons are willing, of course). In 10 years of DC one can collect one or the other CB dragon

I think I will go on to rename the 3rd and 4th gens now. Actually I will keep the current names as first names and just add the appropriate faction name. Then everything should be set up. In a way it is nice that my Stripes will be brought to some proper use - I sort of totally forgot about them ^^

Do these dragons mate for life? Because a lot of my stripes already breed as a part of the Hogwarts lineage and mating for life would disqualify a lot of my stock.

Nope, they can mate however they like as long as they're valid mates, OutlawQueen. But once they're part of this lineage, they can't mate outside the lineage unless they become Factionless/leave the project. ^^
