Posted March 10, 2018 This doesn't serve any purpose except to give us something nice to look at. I was looking at the wilderness and thinking it would be great to see my own dragons, specifically groups of dragons, scattered around the page like that. (Imagine a group of your favorite cute hatchling sprites! Group of all the pink-colored dragons! Group of sprites you love the most! Group of your most shiny dragons!) No names, stats, action links or anything - just dragons sitting there in random order and positions exactly like they do in the wilderness. It could be accessible via a new filter (dragcave.net/group/[number]/1,x,0), so it shouldn't bother anybody who doesn't like it. To avoid breaking the internet by displaying a group of 9000 dragons this way, it should probably also use the first and third of the numbers in the link (page and sort order) to determine which dragons are to be displayed. The sort order should not determine the actual order in which they are displayed though. Share this post Link to post
Posted March 10, 2018 Just to clarify, are you suggesting a page that functions a bit like the wilderness in the sense that it shows a page of random dragon sprites, but for your own scroll groups? I probably wouldn't use a feature like this personally, but it sounds like quite a cute idea and something that could be really visually pleasing, especially if people have groups of dragons by colour and stuff like that. It sounds like a cute idea for those people who'd be into something like this. Would it be accessible through the wilderness page, or somewhere directly from your scroll? Share this post Link to post
Posted March 10, 2018 Through the temp filter, as I understood it. Though personally, I think it should belong to the temp sort drop down, since that is what's determining *how* the selected dragons are to be displayed. I can imagine having a group of dragons that I'd define to be a "clan" or somesuch and having it displayed in a more natural way than just list view! Share this post Link to post

Not random sprites, but the dragons that are in a group, just in random order. Maybe I should phrase it differently: when I'm looking at a group, it's a list. I would like to have the option to view the same dragons in the "natural" (unorganized-looking) design that the wilderness page uses. 44 minutes ago, StormWizard212 said: Would it be accessible through the wilderness page, or somewhere directly from your scroll? Since it needs a group ID (to tell the system which group to display), it would be accessible from each group page. I think a new filter - as I mentioned before - would be the best method of accessing it, but it could also be a different kind of link, e.g. dragcave.net/group/[number]/alternativeview or similar. Posted March 10, 2018 (edited) The 3rd number is the one for display E.g. https://dragcave.net/group/32323/1,0,12 displays page 1 (1) of all of my dragons of that group (0 = unfiltered) by breed (12 - no idea why it's that high since we don't really have that many different sorting arguments (yet)) Since you are probably not going to have them sorted, but randomly in "wild" view, you can just add another option to that drop-down there. It would be only for personal fun anyway, and probably plenty of screenshot frenzy Edited March 10, 2018 by Ruby Eyes Share this post Link to post

I'd have a group that was ALL vampires ALSO... as for internet breaking size groups.... doesn't the wilderness already have ways of limiting how many show... and deciding which dragons? I thought the sort feature would be useful/needed in groups with more than one page, so that we can choose which dragons will be on the first page (e.g. the oldest). The selected dragons would still be displayed in random order. And if we use the sort dropdown for this, then only the filter dropdown would be left for selecting the "wild view". But I get that this may be a little counterintuitive, since "wild view" wouldn't be an actual filter. (It wouldn't hide any dragons, just display them in a different way.) So maybe it would really make more sense if it were a new option in the "sort" dropdown. Edited March 10, 2018 by Confused Cat Share this post Link to post
Posted March 10, 2018 This would be so cool! I rarely remember the wilderness even exists, except when people post screenshots in the screenshots thread, but I *love* how adorable some of those screenshots are... Dragons positioned to look like they are dancing, or kissing, or fighting... I think it would be really really awesome to be able to see some of our own dragons actually 'interact' that way instead of just in a line down our scroll. Share this post Link to post
