Welcome! To the Unofficial Dragon Cave Discord Challenge (DCDC)!

What is the challenge?

Starting Monday, February 26th, 2018... we will be going 55 weeks trying to produce the longest lineage possible (with a cohesive pattern). We are giving a week for each holiday in order to account for the need to CB hunt, though it is not against the rules to continue during this time!

Why should you participate in a challenge lasting over a year? Good Question.

Every member who joins this project, will be offering a prize (sort of like a poker pot) at the end of this project. Depending on how many members this project gets, prizes will be split between first, second, and third place; possibly to fifth if we get tons of people. First place gets first pick (enough to lock them), second gets second, and so on. We will also be choosing honourable mention prizes!

Rules:

All lineages must be in stair or spiral format.

Lines must have consistent patterns. Examples: Stair, Single Step Spiral, Double Step Spiral, and so on.

One of the base dragons MUST have a "Stolen on" date of February 26th, 2018 or later. The other may be a previously existing dragon.

All dragons in the final lineage must be on your scroll, and all dragons produced/used in the project must be in your linked Competition group.

Inbreeding is allowed.

You may assist other competitors.

The competition ends Monday, March 18th, 2019

After much consideration I *will* be doing a BSA spiral. Easy, practical, and since it contains one of my starter pokémons dragons it feels like I'm continuating her legacy. (´ヮ`)

For other competitors, a reminder that for building your line, if at least one of your dragons is of a common breed it will make things easier. Also reserving aside 2-3 purples to work exclusively with your lineage would be a good idea (as fertility reduces risks of refusal), and some pinks and reds.

Well, strictly patterned lineages such as the following will be a pain to advance and will play against you when the aim is to make the longest line in the shortest time, but who can stop you? Go for it if you want to!

A reminder though that the challenge is simply to produce the longest line, no breed pattern is required of you for the competition!!

For sure! Those are both beautiful examples of spirals! The key is that your lineage looks planned out, even if the dragons included are a little random.

I was going to do something quite intricate with dusk pygmies, but a misbreeding would be problematic., so now I've just decided it's a BSA staircase. I may still TRY the pygmy line, because the idea I have is beautiful, but I think the BSA stair will give me the best chance of success.

Oops! Yes. As Thaliana mentioned, the goal is just to create a lineage with a stair or spiral format. The dragon breeds used can be anything in any pattern (or lack thereof), as long as the basic template is consistent. (ex. This would still count as a stair.)

There are probably better examples out there that could have been used in the first post, but everything was pulled together fairly quickly last night. |D;

As long as it has some sort of theme (like how the very mixed has various guardians) I don't see why not.

I plan on having a night-time themed very mixed myself. Any dragon that is associated with night time. Such as nebula's, royal blue's, spirit wards, etc.

Just to check, the pattern doesn't matter with breeds? Like if its one breed for awhile, then two, then one again, and so on, its all good?

I just see the word pattern and it feels like the breeds have to match the pattern heh

Updated with my starter dragons (the first was caught this morning, and will be fogged until tomorrow morning. It's a howler drake, and the second is a night glory drake).
