Do forgive me for not filling out forms during the event! My husband and I were quite distracted trying to catch all the CBs we needed. :) Things will run much more smoothly now, and even more so once Rekha is feeling better.

King Florian Beaumont is happy to announce the first unlocked competition! 

 

To thank his courtesans for their hard work building up the Treasury and building bloodlines, the King would like to implement temporary additions to the Francs system. With these new ways to earn francs for your Court, the first official King's Court Hall decoration will soon be unlocked! The Queen's Court unlocked their competition first, but this doesn't mean they have yet to see the true might of the King's Court! Continue working as you have, and the King's Court will prevail! Long live the King! (And long live the Queen as well!)

 

The competition will last for the period of one month, beginning on Friday, Feb 16 at 03:00 GMT.

The competition will end on Friday, March 16 at 03:00 GMT.

 

In addition to francs normally earned for tasks, one can earn extra francs for the following: 

 

+2 additional francs for donating a CB egg

+3 additional francs for donating a CB hatchie

+2 additional francs for donating a graphic

+5 francs for research:

(specifically, old French holidays, current French holidays that can be given a twist, new French titles to be used with Royal Touch breedings)

@Rekha and I are looking for background information that can be spun and used for Court events, especially old French holidays. :) Information on how the French nobility lived, names they used, traditions they had, anything! Don't worry about trying to make the information fit the lineage - Rekha and I will worry about that. (Though we do want to hear any ideas you may have, so please share if you'd like!) Research should include link(s) from your source, though simply providing a link won't count for doing the research - the francs come in when you help Rekha and I out by giving a short summary or taking notes on bits from the link(s) that you find interesting or useful.

Oh yeah, I learned that lesson after Halloween and built up an army of reds so I have a bunch I can breed and send over XD

Bastille Day

Celebrated the 14 of July 
Also known as the French National Day, la Fête nationale or le 14 juillet

It commemorates the Storming of the Bastille, a military fortress and prison located in Paris, which was mobbed and broken into as a result of the increasing tensions between Royalists and anti-Monarchists. This event was incredibly significant to the French Revolution and the overthrowing of the monarchy as it showed that Louis XVI's power was not absolute and was weakening. The Storming of the Bastille took place in 14 July 1789.

la Fête nationale has been compared to the United States's Independence Day and is similarly celebrated with fireworks, parades, and parties as well as symbols of France such as the flag and La Marseillaise (which both originated from the revolution). "Rather than commemorating the storming of the Bastille itself, it is a day to celebrate the three tenets of the republican national motto: "liberty, equality and fraternity"."

There is also a military parade where troops march along the Champs-Elysées; it is the oldest military paraded, the first one having taken place in 1880. (1 | 2)

Greetings court-goers! Our lovely @Rekha is quite ill and will be on bed-rest for now. She misses everyone and passes on her apologies for her absence. (Though I'm sure you all agree her health is what's important here.) To show everyone she's still thinking of us in her illness, lovely Rekha has donated a beautiful prize for our next raffle!
