Refusals not displaying the 'refused' message?

Recommended Posts

I think some of my dragons are refusing each other but showing the "you attempt to breed your dragons, but no egg is produced" instead of the "refuse to go near each other" message.

Last year I ran into this issue with a holiday lineage; I posted here and was told that because refusals are turned off for holiday dragons during their event, they "forget" any successful breedings from before the event and can end up refusing a partner they bred with before the holiday...  Because of the past breeding, though, it still returned the "attempt to breed" message instead of the "absolutely refuse" message.  Someone was able to look at the dragon I was having problems with and confirm that it was a refusal, and there was nothing I could do to make them re-accept each other.

Well, I have been trying since October to get one of these three Desipis x Magma pairs to produce a Magma egg, and receive the "attempt to breed" message every time, even when using Fertility.  I didn't think Magmas were that rare, especially with three different pairs being bred, and I'm suspicious because it was after the holiday that this continuous eggless streak started.

Pair 1: https://dragcave.net/lineage/Yk0V2 x https://dragcave.net/lineage/HJmDH  (got this one on Halloween 2017, so it *thinks* it was first bred then - due to holidays that grow up before the event end showing they were recently bred)

Pair 2: https://dragcave.net/lineage/BPXUw x https://dragcave.net/view/xISX1   (they produced a Magma offspring in 2016, before Halloween!)

Pair 3: https://dragcave.net/lineage/I53ih x https://dragcave.net/lineage/Ajudr  (Huh - these have produced a Magma offspring *after* Halloween?)

If anyone could confirm whether this is the old refusal-with-wrong-message glitch rearing its head again, I'd be really grateful.  (And if it is, can it be put on the To Be Fixed list ASAP?  It's very confusing!)

Thank you!

If you breed them and you get the message, "you attempt to breed your dragons, but no egg is produced" that doesn't mean a refusal and you can still breed them for a chance at an egg. Sometimes dragons don't produce eggs when bred and that's completely normal. In fact, you're not having a glitch, rather just a stubborn dragon. Dragon pairs can be difficult and not produce any eggs for a long time before they produce their first one. If you don't get the "refuse to go near each other" then you're good to breed them again. :) Often times, with rare dragons specifically, its harder to get an egg from them as opposed to common or uncommon eggs.

Hopefully this helps some!

I tried to find the old thread, but I guess it's too old. Anyway - I really hope that this is just a string of phenomenal bad luck, but I HAVE had a refusal give the "attempted" message before, and a mod confirmed that this was what was happening.  (Or got TJ to confirm it, I don't remember who exactly did the checking.)

Huh, that would be really strange for them to refuse now since they have non-holiday offspring together (like these two that you listed). I haven't heard of an occurrence after they've had non-holiday offspring but if you've never gotten the proper "refusal" message with these pairings before I think you should be good to go.

I noticed you said you've used fertility on them if I'm correct? But I've had a few incidents recently where I've used fertility on a new pair and they haven't given me any eggs for weeks. I'm not sure if that might have something to do with it but you never know what could be the cause. Hopefully its just a stubborn pair and nothing actually wrong though. I'd definitely have a mod or someone as such look at it just to make sure its not a glitch or anything. ^_^

That's interesting!  It was quite a while ago when I last used Fertility on them, but I'm not sure exactly how long (or how long your dry spell lasted).  I only resorted to Fertility after they'd all failed to give me any eggs for at least five non-Fertility breedings.  I'm generally leery of Fertility, because when I first started using it I ended up getting an abnormal number of refusals; but I was desperate for an egg and figured anything was worth a try.

Last year I had a problem with a holiday dragon refusing a mate he had previously bred with, and when I posted about it here I was told that apparently the way refusals are turned off during holiday breeding means that they kind of 'reset' after the holiday - the dragon can refuse a mate he got along with before, because the mechanism that 'remembers' acceptances/refusals has been reset.   (I was also told that it couldn't be 'fixed' - my previously viable pair was now a refused pair and it would stay that way.  Though presumably I could try again after the holiday came back around and see if it reset again...)  That makes sense, in and of itself!  The problem was that the change from accepted to refused caused a glitch in the messages when breeding that dragon - I was getting the "attempted to breed" message (and was able to rebreed after cooldown) even though the mods/TJ could see that the outcome was refusal.  So I'm definitely hoping that one of them will be able to check on these Desipises and see if that's what is happening again!

Magmas - actually all trios - are quite difficult to breed these days, due to them being required for summoning and people hoarding them for just this reason.

Just keep trying, it's all you can do.

Yeah - I am having a hell of a  time with a magma checker - but the other week I got two back to back. Luck of the draw :)

And likewise, I have been trying for a Magma from this pair       since September and have gotten either no egg or a Spessartine each time. I think your dragons are just being stubborn.

no egg produced can happen a lot,  my first silver I bred every week for a year, and couldn't even get commons out of her.  It really does just happen that way sometimes. :/

Well, I've had a refusal message after a successful holiday breeding, so that kind of thing does exist. (I also have one holiday x normal pair that refused, but bred successfully after a holiday.)

Refusals after successful HOLIDAY breeding are normal. Refusals after successful (including no-egg results) NON-holiday breeding are not. But I've never, ever seen that happen. I think you're just having a bunch of bad luck.

I have a Magma x Bronze Shimmer pair of G2s. That pair has only two Shimmer offspring in the years I've had them... but ZERO MAGMAS. ZERO. Breeding Magmas sucks lol

Trying to breed a 2g copper with a CB Shadow Walker is a nightmare. Either they've produce no egg or not interested in breeding

And frankly, some pairs of dragons just don't *like* each other very much.

I've bred 8 pairs of CBs of two common breeds for nearly a year..... and ended up with some pairs with nearly 30 eggs and others with a paltry 6 or 7. Same two breeds, bred all at the same time, but with vastly different offspring results.

Then there are those dragons who just like to refuse. I had a 2nd gen Silver refuse FOUR 2nd gen Ices in a row.... before finally accepting (and throwing a Silver egg) with the 5th. That pair which, I just realized, has produced 4 Silvers...... and 0 Ices. https://dragcave.net/progeny/lf1Io

Cheers!

If you're breeding the same pairs every week, that's probably impacting it as well; pairs breed slightly more poorly when bred every week.
