DC Photography Contest #137

Recommended Posts

1f329.png Welcome to the Photography Contest! 1f329.png

Here you submit photos you've taken and users vote on which photo they like the best.

Deadline: September 30th

This time the theme is:  Storm

Fitting, since Irma has recently passed here, and Maria may be en route. You don't need to do a hurricane, though!  Any storm will do.  Examples:

Snow storm

After Hurricane Sandy

Rainstorm

Rules

- One entry per person

- Picture has to be made by yourself and can't be just a reproduction of someone's work. If someone else's work is in the picture, there needs to be something extra.

- No manipulation besides basic photo adjustments (contrast, exposure, cropping, color balance, lighting, etc.)

- No text or framing in the photo. A signature/watermark is just fine, but it's preferable if you don't have "O Hai Eye Hav3 T3XT" (or something similar) present in the photo.

- When voting, please don't select your own image. This will ensure fairness.

- You are free to submit an old photo; you don't need to take a new one just for this competition.

- Winner hosts the next contest.

This photo was taken by my colleague so this is not a valid entry (I have no smartphone so I had no camera on hand):

Spoiler

This was the day after "Ela" hit Düsseldorf (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2014_Pentecost_weekend_storms_in_Europe). This creek runs in the middle of the street as you can possibly see by the cars left and right, and it used to be flanked by plenty of greenery, trees and shrubbery. Most of the old trees didn't survive that storm - they broke at the height of the house roofs, they kind of splintered apart. The photo was taken from one of the bridges that cross the creek.

It was an interesting attempt to drive to work that day because the streets were littered with branches and whole trees, and in the end my colleague and I were the only ones to reach office. It was a quiet day at work

Rainy Night

It was one of the day in 2014 with heavy rain as I remember.

And again, two weeks of deadline seems too long as my opinion, most of entries are submitted at first week. I think 8~9 days are enough for it.

I won't have proper access to a computer during the week, so there's no sense for me to have a deadline that ends mid-week! XD
