(Spring break! wooo)

Jacques stood by as Miyuki's emotions got the best of her. She was clearly not thinking straight, with the rage only an abandoned child could muster. If Jacques were ever to reach such a point, It would be game over for him and others for miles around. There would be no resisting Inkblood Psycho.

Jacques felt a twinge of pity for the older man. Having killed his own father, Jacques understood more than anybody that survival and personal gain were more important than family to some. The man wanted to live his life, didn't want two younglings holding him back.

"Hm." Jacques muttered as his normal charming smile was replaced with a frown.

"You and I are guests in this guildhouse. I think you've overstayed your welcome. It would be safest for you to go." Jacques persuaded.

He could see the frustration in the S class wizard, Sol's, eyes. Her magic power was overwhelming, and she too was going to lose her temper soon enough.

A large amount of ink slithered off of Jacques body and stealthily made it's way into the cracks of the wood between the two ice wizards, ready to spring up and protect the man should Miyuki release another onslaught.

"You should remove yourself, now." Jacques repeated.

He glanced over at the wheelchair bound wizard. Another S class, despite his obvious handicap. His magic must be powerful.

He finally looked to the wind dragonslayer. Powerful and emotionally unstable, he could also cause serious damage. Realizing that his ink shield may not be enough, Jacques calmly stepped in between the potential nuclear detonation.

"Let's all calm down. Blood won't make anything better." Jacques said, rather ironically.

The man got up and brushed off the crumbs that got on his cloak, patted off the dust and smoothed his hair. "I just wanted to see my son. He needs a proper trainer and I got a guild hounding me to go get him...." He grumbled and limped to the door leaving saying something about coming back later.

If looks could kill, both Jacques and her father would have been sliced to bits by now. Frost formed at her feet. Her breath mist in the cold bubble of air that surrounded her. She glowered at her new friend from the beach. "You seriously let him get away?! " She growled.

Ankoku went over to his sister. "What were you thinking? You almost wrecked the place!"

"What difference does it make, it's like this every other day! He never deserved us." She hissed back.

"He's our father!"

"Who abandoned us!"

"Our blood, Miyuki! He said he found a trainer for me."

"I don't give a wagon full of dragon dung if he is! He wants you for something, I wouldn't be surprised if he ran into a dark guild and used you to be his bargaining chip. I didn't starve, play a fool, scrounge and take to keep you alive for him to walk in and drag you away from me! I know you want to be stronger, but you'll have to teach yourself. Dragon slayer magic is rare, the chances that his so called 'teacher' is another wind dragon slayer magic user are very slim. I rather you learn from a wind user in the guild they who knows where with some stranger."

Unbeknownst to the other guild-mates Jacques tattoos weren't the only ones moving around, the dragon tatoo on her shoulder was growing in size beneath her dress. But as the man left and the situation died down it reverted to it's usual size.

Sol let out a loud sigh a small spark of flame accompanying it. She raised her head and and nodded towards Jacques, "Thank-you for stepping in. Now, here at the guild we treat each other as comrades, a bond closer than friends but further than family. As such we don't pry into the family matters of our guild-mates. But if they would bring harm to the guild we will," Sol said calmly. She watched as Nathaniel wheeled himself over to join the conversation.

"But, that goes to you as well, if we deem you will betray the guild, be ready to feel the fallout of your actions..." She concluded, crossing her arms and staring accusingly at Miyuki.

Nathaniel chuckled.

"Ahh Miyuki, who knew this is what it would take to get you to break that cold demeanor of yours. But Sol's right, if you can't control your magic when your emotions get the best of you I don't think the master will ever let you up to S rank, power isn't everything. It's ironic that the fire wizard has a cooler head than the ice one," Nathaniel mused.

The line drew a small smile from Sol, breaking her steely glare, and the tension around her relaxed somewhat.

"Concerning a trainer for you Ankoku, slayer magic is rare and I'm not sure if one of the wind mages here will be able to help. Slayer magic is unique, you'd probably have a better chance learning from another dragon slayer. I've heard of one or two being present in other guilds though I can't recall specifics," Sol said.

Miyuki gave Nathaniel a dead pan look however she seemed to relax a little more with this particular S class wizard was around. "My power was in check. My emotions however were not, and that is my fault for sealing them away for so long. I don't move up because I asked master not to choose me. It is Andy you need to worry about. From what I heard leaving the town, she nearly killed a man for insulting the guild. I have probable cause for my actions. He's bad news and will try this again. Father was never the same since mom died, that's when he started getting in trouble. He was in jail for six months for destroying a marketplace, that's why he didn't come back to us. During our struggles, many men importuned me because my father owed them money and he offered his daughter to them because he had nothing else and if they were after me, he could get away and slither into some crevices somewhere. No other ice magic user I know of could produce a ice living dragon that freezes everything it breaths on. It might not be as large as a true dragon, but it's big enough to scare them away and give me the title of ice queen.  As for teachers brother, if you truly want to become stronger, I'd rather go through the light guilds then some shady person dad can come up with. We can go through the proper channels and request a member or members possessing said power to come here to teach you. As Sol said, we are a family, I'd rather you stay here were we all can protect you than to trust the man who traded his own flesh and blood to strangers to cover his own backside. " She shrugged. "If you also want me to move up in class, I could use a trainer too and expand my skill set. You may be my brother, but I raised you like mom would have. I try to give you the best I can provide. "She said softly tucking Ankoku's cheek with a small smile. "I'm sorry I acted like that and worried you about my actions. Forgive me?" She asked.

Ankoku nodded and hugged his sister. "Okay. Of course of do sis, but I think an apology is owed to Sol for wrecking the place. " He looked over at the woman behind the bar. To be honest, she scared him the most.

"You're right." She said, moving towards the bar. She bowed lowly. "My actions were inexcusable. I should've heeded your first warning but my anger clouded my judgment. I am prepared to face all repercussions for my actions and pay you for any damage I  have caused to the Guild hall.  I will also offer my services to clean the entire place top to bottom in atonement for my transgressions. You have my deepest apologies Miss. Fermèt."

Jacques breathed a sigh of relief as it seemed Sol and Nathaniel had defused the situation. His normal cheery smile returned to his face.

"I sure wasn't looking forward to getting blasted by ice on both sides." Jacques said with a chuckle.

After listening to Miyuki's monologue, Jacques felt a twinge of guilt. The ink returning to his body formed into sharp images of fire and destruction as he heard her mention the abuse her father had put her through. Despite this, his cheery smile remained, albeit twitching slightly.

"He might be an old *******, but you should heed his words on training for.. Ankoku, was it? Most dragonslayers are trained either by real dragons or master dragonslayers. He's got mountains of potential that can't be fulfilled until he has a proper trainer." Jacques carefully observed.

"Maybe he should go with him. Send an escort perhaps. If it does turn out to be a dark guild, I wouldn't be opposed to cleanly wiping them off the face of Ishgar." Jacques said, rather genuinely.

He didn't like the dark guilds. Yes, he may be an assassin himself, but he'd never killed an innocent man or woman. They were sick, twisted people, stuck in a doctrine of hate and malice. Once a smaller guild burned down a forest that Jacques frequented. As a man appreciative of the beauty of nature, he left the bodies of the fools to fertilize the land.

"Sol, was it? A pleasure to formally meet you. Please allow me to pay for the damages, along with a round of drinks to cool everyone off. Please don't skimp on the alcohol for mine." He said with a smile, scratching the back of his head as he produced a rather large sack of coins from his jacket.

He looked into her eyes, which just a moment ago seemed to be glowing with rage. Despite having calmed down, her eyes still showed great amounts of discipline, authority, and power. She was somebody he would have to keep an eye on.

(Like to remind ya that no one really believes that the dragonslayers were trained by dragons, hell the only ones of note at this point in the fairytail timeline would be natsu and gajeel.
Also anyone know what's happened to @SkySong278 I was thinking about just progressing to have Barty and co. arrive back but I wouldn't want to play all 4 of them, I feel alright about playing barty and midori and maybe andy. But not Trish)

"I don't think most were trained by real dragons, dragons haven't lived for centuries, anyone who says otherwise is just looking for attention," Sol said coldly.

"And since barty isn't here I'll take up your offer of cleaning the hall, you should know where to find the mop," Sol said casually indicating over her shoulder.

Her eyes narrowed as Jacques so plainly indicated his willingness to eliminate a dark guild, though she held out her hand as he offered to pay for some drinks, to the cheers of several of the older guild members currently present.

"I cannot speak for you, as you're not a member of the guild," She started, before turning her gaze back to the sibling.

"But you most certainly won't be attacking a dark guild, you're best to avoid them. They're twisted and practice sinister forms of magic for vulgar pursuits," She continued, as she began to fill the glasses of the patrons that approached the counter for their paid refill. Her gaze returned swiftly back to Jacques.

"And though you are not a member of the guild let me impart some advice to you. Do not be overconfident of your abilities. There is almost always someone stronger than you. Dark guilds can posses all manner of powerful and unique magics that we have no way to comprehend or combat. I wouldn't recommend anyone short of the wizards saints to actively pursue a dark guild by themselves," Sol concluded, placing Jacques frothing mug down with a little more force than usual.

Noticing the unease in their bartender Nathaniel opted to change the conversation.

"I agree on the opinion that you should not fully disregard your fathers intentions. But I would advise on being accompanied by a few more than just the two of you, just as a precaution," Nathaniel said.

He then gave a playful shrug, "And if your father turns out to have a genuine wish to reconcile with his long lost children and help his son grow strong, all the better. If he just wants to do it to strengthen Ankoku up and sell him off, well use the training to become too strong for him to subdue". Nathaniel finished with a jovial chuckle but it left his beliefs on whether his sinister suggestion was genuine or just another joke.

((Wendy was part of the ediles arc too. She's a sky dragon magic user. He knows only a few spells, he could learn from her.))

Miyuki headed to the supply closet and got out some of the cleaning supplies, making a dog to hold the extra bucket for her as she got out the cloth to clean tables and the mop that was paired with a different bucket. She set about, righting the stools and benches she knocked over in the skirmish, wiping them down in silence.

Ankoku had his usual lopsided smirk back on his face again. "We know not to mess with the dark guilds Sol. I actually don't need a teacher, I can teach myself. I just need to have a wide space for practice. I don't know what 'importuned' means, but I think it's not really a good thing. I've seen her struggle for us both, and often she comes home with bruises or cuts I need to heal. If she says my dad couldn't be trusted I believe her. I barely knew him anyway... I want to trust him, but... my sister is the only real family I've ever known. I don't want to betray her by going behind her back. " He looked at Nathaniel. "But... if I could convince her to give me her blessing to go, I'm certain she'd feel better if you came along as my escort Nathaniel. She trusts you more than anyone here." He grinned and whispers. "I think she has a bit of a thing for you." He giggled with a wink.

“I’m ready.” Trish turned around when she heard someone talk behind her and saw Andy standing outside of the changing stalls with her clothes on over her bathing suit. “Okay. Let’s go see if we can find Barty,” she said before the two of them started to head back towards Taraq. They walked through the town, keeping an eye out for their guild mate but didn’t see him at any of the stalls or in front of any of the buildings. “Maybe he’s already at the train station?” Andy suggested and Trish nodded before they headed there next and as quickly as they could before they missed the next train.

((Sorry, forgot we are right after the Edolas arc. Also Laxus is pretty well known albeit a second Gen.))

Jacques gulped down a few mouthfuls of his drink, as Sol lectured him on the dangers of dark guilds. His small body and high metabolism meant that the alcohol kicked in fairly fast.

"You're right, there's always going to be somebody more powerful than me... but that's where wits come into play." He said, tapping his head.

"They do wield some powerful magics, so there's no way I could take one head on. The trick here is, target the more significant magic users, like the S class of the dark guilds, and elimi-" Jacques paused.

"Incapacitate them one at a time. It takes some research and a hunters mindset, but once that's done if you can restrain the guildmaster and take them into custody, the lesser members almost always flee." Jacques hiccuped.

Jacques was realizing that he probably shouldn't have given away so much information. At least under the guise of a mercenary for hire, it somewhat made sense that he would have a grasp of these things.

"On the subject of dragonslayers, I've read my fair share of books. The history lines up. It does seem weird to think that a lumbering beast of mass destruction could gently raise a child... But look at the accolades of the Salamander. I've never seen someone so powerful short of wizard saints."

"Aaaanyways, I've got nothing to do for a while, I'd also be willing to accompany the kid. I understand if you don't trust me, though." Jacques stated, finishing his drink.

Barty weaved through the crowd as he made his way to the station. Glancing over their heads he saw the sign quickly approaching.

He stepped up onto the platform and saw a familiar lilac haired head standing by the ticket booth.

"Yo Midori," He called, raising his hand to wave.

Midori turned her mouth agape in surprise.

Barty walked over to her and Midori raised her arm to greet him.

Or so he thought, as a solid impact hit him in the chest.

"Ahh!" He exclaimed as Midori withdrew her fist her brows constricted in anger.

"Where the hell have you been!? Andy and Trish told me what happened, what the hell were you thinking? You were supposed to be the mature one on this trip," She exclaimed angrily.

Barty raised his hands between them, in an effort to prevent any further punches, which hurt a fair bit despite Midori's slight frame.

"Hey now, Ankoku blew the situation way out of water, literally! He made it flood! But I don't wanna talk about that now, where are the others? I've got something to tell them," Barty said.

Sol was about to comment on Miyuki to perform the task without the assistance of magic but thought against it.

She turned her gaze back to Ankoku, Jacques and Nathaniel and frowned.

"Hmm, honestly if you do go I think I'd rather go instead," Sol said, prompting Nathaniel to raise his eyebrows in surprise.

"Miyuki may like you Nathaniel but she still sees you as a wounded gazelle, I feel like your voice wouldn't reach her if she were to lash out as she did just now," Sol said, as she began to pour a multitude of different liquids into a glass.

"And while you helped calm her down," She turned the conversation to Jacques. "You're right, I don't trust you. I don't know you well enough to leave my guild-mates in your hands should something go awry. Nathaniel could handle a dark guild, and while you boast of your ability I've yet to see any proof," Sol said calmly, a spark of emerald fire shot from her fingers and into the glass, lighting it.

She took a heft gulp of her drink and smacked her lips in appreciation.

"And the salamander may be strong, Fairytail is the number one guild for a reason. But if you've ever seen the magic council's reports on the guild, the property damage they cause will make your wallet weep," Sol said in a mocking tone. She downed her glass and placed it back on the table.

"But back on topic, this is all based on if Miyuki actually agrees to let you go to your father," Sol finished. She looked down at her hand, flames twinkled across her fingers and she appeared to be lost in thought.

((and i never said a dragon, just somebody with similar magic, he IS a second gen wind dragon user. Just a trainer. ))

"She dose not see Nathanael as a wounded gazelle!" Ankoku huffed. Why does it seem everyone was putting words or thoughts into their heads. "She respects him more then she does you, she shows it by being motherly towards him. She wouldn't come with me anyway. I will go with one other member of the guild. I chose Nathaniel because she respects his power and his status and would stay behind to train and do jobs to prepare for the S class trials.  I don't want to have a repeat and having her do something she might regret later on. " He then looked at Jacques. "And i don't get why you're so interested in my sister, but you better knock it off. I don't trust you either. " He growled softly to the already drunk man.

Miyuki only had the wolf present for cleaning the tables. It faded away once she moved on to mopping up the floors, still in somber silence ignoring the crowd her head down in shame.

(By the way, Nomad and I discussed making Jacques a temporary "Gary Stu" For story purposes. AKA, being an overwhelmingly strong villain at the beginning, being defeated cause of teamwork, and simmering down when he joins the guild. I've got the PM if you'd like to see it, but as of right now, Jacques is about as overpowered as Roadhog's hook used to be.)

"Relax, kid!" Jacques smiled. "If I came here to hurt somebody I would have already done it."

Jacques took another swig of his drink

"As of right now I'm just a friendly visitor." He turned to Sol.

"And as for you, I respect your decision. I wouldn't put the lives of my friends in the hands of a rogue wizard. Can't blame a guy for trying to find something interesting to do though, right?" He said with a smile and a chuckle.

"I've got nothing to do until my contracts come through. What's guild life like?" He asked, surprising himself with genuine curiosity.

Jacques had always been able to put on a remarkable facade, but surrounded by powerful wizards as he was, he was extra careful about keeping his story in line.

"I bought tickets before you got here, let's discuss it on the train," Midori said. She led the group over the platforms and onto the train bound for Stratham.

Sitting down in a booth Barty leaned forward, "Shamal's dead," He said.

"I went back to get some recipes from his cook and it was cornered off by the police," Barty continued.

He informed the others of the event, making sure to point out to Trish who exactly Shamal was in the process.

When he finished he looked at the others, waiting for a response.

Midori was holding her forehead in her hand, trying to process the information.

"What was in the box to warrant it... wasn't it just an heirloom?" She asked.

"Heirlooms can be sold for a fair bit of jewel. One kept in a tightly secure tomb such as that one was bound to be worth a fair bit," Barty responded. He'd had more time to process the information but was still himself quite shocked at the news.

Sol stepped out from the counter and painfully flicked Ankoku's forehead.

"Doting on someone isn't respect. She treats him the same way she treats you, like a younger brother that she has to protect, despite the fact that Nathaniel has made no indication that he needs any sort of protection or special treatment. Now stop getting so aggressive, you need lessons in etiquette before lessons in magic if you yell at your elders like that," Sol said, flashing Ankoku with an intimidating glare.

Nathaniel took that moment to speak, "Ahh but I did appreciate the master putting in ramps," he said merrily. Sol responded with a simple eye roll and a slight grin.

Nathaniel then turned his attention to Jacques.

"Ahh guild life is an ever changing adventure. Cheery kids, stubborn elders, coming in and out. You meet, you socialize, you fight and you earn money. There's not much more to it. So what type of contracts do you usually take?" Nathaniel inquired, leaning forward on his elbows.

"Ow!" Ankoku rubbed the spot tenderly. "I'm sorry for running my mouth. I've been told that I often speak before I think. I'll try to do better... but.. she does respect him. When he's gone she worries out loud yet when I voice my opinion, she says he's stronger than he looks and scolds me for doubting. That she doesn't doubt if he comes back, but when he does.  She apparently makes him promise he'd help her hand out blankets and outfits to those less fortunate.  She also holds him to his word. Only a few times he didn't make it back in time. It can't be helped really, with him going away on S class missions. Don't you do the same thing only in a different way? Instead of hovering you push him to get better and stronger. You want him to take care of himself. " He looked down. "Miyuki means well... but I kinda wish she'd do the same for me. I feel like I'm useless until I master my magic..." He trailed off glancing over at his sister who was making slow progress on the floor.

((I'm nearing the end of the Grand Magic Games.))

"We were all young at one point, kid." Jacques said encouragingly.

"If you work hard, you'll be unbeatable, like that Salamander. Power comes from the heart and believing that what you're doing is right. The strongest kind of magic isn't dragonslayer, It's not some ancient art, it's pure power of will." He advised.

"I fought a lot of tough wizards before my Inkblood even came about. I was using Iron maker magic. Not a good fit for a twig like me, huh?" He said with a chuckle.

"It was never about how powerful their magic was, it was about how willing i was to fight my way through. You can probably imagine, I got my behind handed to me on several occasions. But I didn't stop trying." Jacques was imparting honest advice on this young man.

"Nathaniel, was it? Pleasure to meet you." Jacques bowed his head and raised his drink to the man.

" I take on everything from manticore culling to catching rogue wizards to delivering... or, retrieving packages."

((Okay some stuff may get spoiled a bit if you're so far behind skysong. Also yeah I can understand it being quite hard, when Midori left we sort of just carried her in our own direction))

"Yes we were all young, and we all made stupid decisions that we regret. But that doesn't mean life will give you a free pass. Don't make those decisions in the first place," Sol said. Turning on her heals she ventured into the kitchen to begin preparing the the late night snacks that were usually brought out for the members ho stayed late at the guild.

Nathaniel looked up at the other two.

"You know I've never actually handed out blankets with her... and while I respect her just as I respect every other member of the guild I don't go out of my way to appease her every whim," Nathaniel stated.

"I'm a pretty selfish person. Right now I want to get better than Sol, she doesn't so much as push me as simply act as a wall that I have to climb or a point that I have to reach. I've fought her over 50 times and I still haven't won," Nathaniel exclaimed.

He nodded at Jacques smiling beneath his mask.

"Pleasure to meet you too. We have a fair few maker magicians here, our bartender and Sols protege Barty, the gilded flower Midori and Miyuki herself all use it. It's a very diverse magic," Nathaniel commented.

------------

Barty watched Andy with a concerned eye.

Though he was not much older than her he had recognised the young idolisation and allure towards Shamal that had been present.

He leaned over and affectionately patted her shoulder.

"Don't worry, from what the police said it was quick. They got him while he was resting so he probably didn't even notice," Barty said re-assuredly.

He turned and gave a look to Midori who seemed to gather that Barty wasn't telling the truth but kept quiet for Andy's sake.

Barty leaned back on his chair and shut his eyes.

"I'm gonna rest a bit, wake me when we get back," He said.
