Sort by breed (custom)

I'd like to suggest an easy way to custom sort.  My suggestion would be to have a list of all the breed names on your scroll that you could drag in the order that you want the dragons to be grouped on your scroll.  There should also be the option to sort eggs and hatchlings on top.  Then once a hatchling grows to be an adult it is automatically grouped with it's fellows.  This allows you to have the option of customization but also with minimal effort to constantly have to sort your scroll. 

 

One question that comes to mind is how to handle new released but I suppose that they could simply not show up in the list until the name is known and just sort on top/bottom.

Sounds like a really good idea to me. 

 

One thing I'd like to see addressed are alternates (alts/color morphs and the like). Some of us might like our nebulas all in a row, others would like them sorted by color. Same for stripes, blacks, vines, undines, dorsals, ridgewings, aegises, solstices... you get the idea.

 

Maybe instead of just selecting a breed, we should be able to enlarge the selection. So, instead of "nebula (any)", we could use "nebula (male)", "nebula (female)" or, for those of us who'd like to sort them by color, "nebula (purple)", "nebula (blue)", "nebula (green)" and "nebula (orange)". Or "nebula (regular)" and "nebula (alt)" as various options popping up in three different columns. And, if you choose an item from one column, the other two columns will be greyed out.

 

Of course, it would be a little bit more complicated for things like blacks because the alt status is independent of gender. Personally, I think "black (any)" should be split into "black (male)" and "black (female)", as well as into "black (regular)" and "black (alt)", not to mention being able to separate by both gender and alt status (regular male, regular female, alt male, alt female).

 

And don't get me started on stripes...

 

Maybe that's a bit too much to ask?

This, this especially. A list of names for the breeds or anything that will let us sort breeds as a group instead of selecting each dragon individually. Some people have hundreds of one breed, so I imagine trying to sort all of them would be incredibly tiresome.

So no one really seems against the idea so far...  I'd love to hear more feedback - both for and against.  I guess the real question is for @TJ09 if this is even realistic to do or not.

I probably wouldn't use it as some of my dragons belong in a certain lineage yet others of the same breed do not. Yet, it would be tempting even for me as it would make sorting my dragons much easier and faster. I'd then have to get up off my lazy butt and finish grouping my dragons.

 

I would like the option to have the different variants sorted separately. I'm not so concerned about also sorting the different genders though I'd probably use it if it were there.

I'm all for this idea, except for having the adults automatically sort into their respected breeds. Part of the reason I use custom sort is because the dragons don't automatically sort themselves. As for the "sort eggs and hatchlings on top" option, I would find this invaluable. That way all I would have to do to sort my dragons would be to tick a "place eggs and hatchlings on top" box, and click breed sort. I would also find it useful to create sorting groups with-in a certain breed. For example I'm beginning to hoard vampires (I have three main groups of these dragons) but no way to sort the groups when I go to sort them.

Yes! I love this! It would make it so much easier to sort stuff. Maybe we could also have an option to sort the adults of the breed and the frozen hatchlings of the breed? I would like if it allowed you to go into a different sort to manually sort a few dragons, too.
