Posted August 7, 2017 (edited) Well, sorry, but Ponderous Puzzle #1 is now expired. I will be posting point totals for Round 1 before I sleep. Now posted! The answer to Ri1 was the Hellfire. From their encyclopedia entry: "Produce a large amount of heat, which can escape through gaps in their scales." and " Humans are common prey since they live in large groups and it can be easy to pick off a clawful of stragglers." In contrast, the Red dragon, which was a common guess has this to say: "Often attack humans that venture into their lairs; this aggression is motivated by territoriality and is usually not related to predation, though the interloper is often eaten."
