This is a 1x1 between myself and AroaraAngelwolf. You may lurk, but please don't post! Thanks!

This has no real plot, other than three pairs of friends who each believe the other is either dead or missing. Basically just us expanding our writing styles happy.gif It is fantasy though.

Polar's Characters:

Name: Luna Hayes

Gender: Female

Age: 23

Personality: Sweet, but strong willed and determined. Not afraid to stand up for what she believes in or fight for what she wants.

History:

Luna grew up under the tight grip of her controlling parents. She was rarely allowed to do much of anything, seeking solace in solitude in order to get away. When she was nine years old, she barely escaped with her life from the fire that killed Craven’s parents, and she was whisked away by her own before she got a chance to say goodbye - or even let him know that she was alive. Twelve years later, a large centaur stallion moved in near her home, who was very much an eligible bachelor, so a marriage was arranged between the two without her agreement. Once they were married, he was unafraid to take advantage of her when he wished. She was never happier than the day he died in an unfortunate accident, and only a few short weeks after she discovered she was pregnant. Instead of telling her parents, she instead packed her belongings and fled far away to start anew.

Species

      Species Name: Centaur

Species Info: A being with the body of a horse and the torso and head of a human.

Appearance: Luna has onyx black hair and light green eyes. She is skinny and underfed due to lack of food, yet she still carries a natural beauty. Her coat is a lightly dappled grey, and with her skinniness it is easy to see the foal that she is expecting.

Other: She is about 5 months along.

Name: Damien Johnson

Gender: Male

Age: 27

Personality: Formerly a hard worker and kind, Damien grew up with a single mother in an urban region close to the sea. After he joined the gang, he became more and more merciless, all care for the world disappearing after the disappearance of his best friend and the death of his mother. He oozes charisma and charm, and people tend to instinctively trust him, despite his initial aura of danger.

History: Damien grew up with a single mother, and joined his first gang at the age of twelve in an attempt to get more food  - and he excelled. Under the harsh training of the most dangerous gang in the city, he quickly rose from errand boy to skilled fighter, and the money started rolling in. Another Selkie within the gang taught him about his seal self, and he is just as dangerous as a seal as he is a human. He was sixteen when he nearly died in a fight, spending weeks in the hospital recovering from a combination of stabbing and gunshot wounds. By the time he was well enough to leave, he discovered his closest friend had disappeared, devastating him and sending him deeper into gang life as he searched to find her. The last time Damien saw her was when his mother found him and called an ambulance before he fell unconscious. When his mother died in the crossfire, he threw away any sort of restraint he had, quickly rising to the top of not only the gang but of the entire underground network in the city. He is dangerous, with no lack of connections and a deceptively charming smile.

Species

      Species Name: Selkie

Species Info: Selkies are creatures that live as seals in water and shed their skins to live as humans on land. Selkies can be anything from a Baikal seal to a Leopard seal. The skin shedded by the Selkie when becoming human can be turned into an article of clothing that can be worn, allowing them to switch back and forth at will. Selkie genes are dominant, with a human x Selkie pair giving Selkie offspring. Selkies can live for hundreds of years, with the oldest one recorded living to be nearly one thousand years old.

Appearance: Everything about Damien screams charm - and darkness. His hair is a dusty coal black and his skin is tanned and scarred from years of fighting. His nose is slightly crooked, as if it has been broken a few times, and one of his eyes is close to black. The other is a pale blue, as if all the light left in him colligated into that single iris and decided to stay there. He is almost always immaculately dressed, wearing a suit and tie even at casual occasions. His Selkie skin, when shed, is a mottled black and gray suit jacket, and he is a large Leopard seal with dangerously sharp teeth and fighting instinct.

Other: Nothing

Name: Brienna Willis

Gender: Female

Age: 23

Personality: Brienna is usually pretty calm, but can be a firecracker and a fierce warrior. She loves to wander and is very adventurous, as well as loyal to her friends.

History: Brienna’s closest friend was a Wolf Kin by the name of Hunter Dire, who was one of her only friends and one of the only kids that didn’t shy away from her due to her feline form - a saber tooth tiger. Since the species was believed to be extinct, her true form is a mystery, spurring on a search to find what may be a species "come back from the dead". She was friends with him until the age of 17, when he was hit by a van crossing the street to her house and hauled away. She never heard of him again and grew extremely depressed, believing he was dead. After several months, her parents decided the best thing for her would be a fresh start, so despite her reluctance they moved across the country and she has lived there ever since.

Species

     Species Name: Werecat

Species Info: Werecats are humanlike creatures with the ability to shift into a cat, anywhere from a small housecat to an enormous liger. The amount of werecats is limited to the amount of cats in that species, leading to an abundance of housecats and few large, exotic predators.

Appearance: Brienna has light blonde hair and golden eyes. She is only four foot nine, though is much stronger than she looks and devastatingly quick. Her hair is quite short, not even falling to her shoulders, and she rarely lets it grow long.

Other:

Name: Hades Moran (more-ann)

Gender: Male

Age: 21

Personality: Hades has always had a strong sense of right and wrong, pushing him to join the police force as soon as he was able to meet all the requirements. However, he disagreed with some of the... less aggressive tactics used to take down criminals, instead resorting to becoming a night-time vigilante responsible for bringing down city crime by a few percentage points. As a typical alpha dragon male, he is a natural leader, not to mention dominant and possessive. He can be gruff and even rude at times, but typically isn't cold-hearted or cruel. Due to his Southern dragon ancestry, he is clever and cunning, should the situation call for it. He is also cool under pressure, almost arrogant, a natural personality trait originating from his Northern dragon ancestry. Due to the control needed to wield such an unruly element such as fire, Hades tends to spend a lot of time meditating, sharpening his concentration and allowing him to make more devastating attacks; his consistent meditation also contributes to his cool head when in trouble and his tight reign over his temper.

History: Hades has mixed heritage, with both Northern and Southern ancestry, and he is an even blend of the two. His frame, while tall, also has the lean flexibility of the Southern dragons, along with their cunning too. Due to his extremely draconian features, resulting from being almost seventy-five percent dragon, are usually hidden to prevent excess attention (though it is impossible to hide during work, due to the uniform, which was specially tailored). He grew up in a home for orphaned boys, as his father and mother were both killed shortly after his birth. Currently, he lives a little ways outside of the city, in the foothills of the mountains. Like his Northern cousins, he enjoys living in caves, and while he does live in a cave, it is not as large as probably needed considering his size. During the day, Hades works as a police officer, but at night, he'll take to the skies, working as a vigilante to eradicate some crimes. He has come to be known as the "Demon of the Night", what with his fearsome appearance that can indeed appear demonic at times; however, most of his time is devoted to his day job, preventing his "alter ego" from gaining to terrifying of a reputation.

Species:

        Species Name: Dragonkin

Species Info: Most dragonkin only have one or two aspects that relate them to dragons, such as fire breathing or control, scales, or in some cases, wings. Upon maturity (which varies from person to person), dragonkin are able to sense their mates when they are nearby (within a hundred miles or so). It forms as a sort of sixth sense, an instinct that naturally draws the dragonkin to their mate. Most dragonkin are either highly respected or highly mistrusted, depending on ancestry. The dragons of the northern-most parts of the world, especially those from the high altitudes, tend to be more trusted than their Southern relatives, who are smaller and much more cunning than the Northern kinds.

Appearance: While technically considered to be a dragonkin, Hades is much more dragon than man. At six foot six, he stands a little over six and a half feet tall, and his scales are all pitch black. His skin is tanned and his hair, like his scales, is pitch black. The brightest spot of color on his person are his eyes, which are usually a bright gold that glow faintly in the dark. However, when he is manipulating fire (as he is unable to breath it) his eyes change to a glowing red, heightening his intimidation factor. When truly angry, Hades will let out a low roar similar to a dragon, which no other dragonkin that he knows of is able to replicate. He can, of course, make the sound when not angry, along with a plethora of others (such as growling or a low hiss), though chooses not to as the loud sound does tend to attract attention.

Powers: A common ability of the dragonkin, Hades is able to both create and manipulate fire. Curiously enough, he is unable to breath fire despite his largely draconian features, but his pyrokinesis likely makes him more dangerous than just being able to breath fire like full dragons.

Hunter waited in a hallway, the smell off food from the restaurant below tickled his nose as he held a staring contest with the massive gorilla of a man who guarded a door leading to his boss. The place reeked of fish, salt water and boiling crabs. Somewhere a grandfather clock ticked away the seconds before chiming the time at three o'clock in the afternoon. He then stood. "Your boss told me he wanted news ASAP, it's been a hour. Let me in, or else your head would be woefully misplaced." He snarled darkly threatening a man three times his size in muscle mass and twice in hight. He had no time for this. The mobster was looking for a girl, and he was as well. The mob boss's lady was hard to find, but he did locate her finely and now waited to get the rest of his cash before bringing her in. He folded his arms across his chest barring his teeth at the gorilla.

Galadriel had a tattered filthy blanket around her in a poncho like fashion, her outfit still the one those savages put her in. She tried to pawn the gold beeds and jems, but they were fake of course and won't get much in cash. In order to hide her appearance, she smeared her face with soil, her arms and legs with mud and her hair with ash. The shifter felt filthy, tired and hungry however these were not new feelings so she could deal with them. Galadriel currently set up fort under a overpass near a river that lead to the ocean. Shivering from the winter wind blowing in off the water, she watched as darkness fell, and the sun sank into the water.

Galadriel was determined to see the ocean again and the memories it brought to her of her dearly departed friend. He had loved the sea, and many of her best childhood memories where at the beach where she'd change into a sea lion and chase him around in the water or doing flips into the air. Another shiver racked her body, chattering her teeth both at the wind and flashback to seeing kind Damien laying on the asphalt, knife wounds all over, still and barely breathing. With a whimper, she shifted into Fox to stay warm before lightly dozing, ears turning for any reason to run.

Craven carried bundles of dry tall grass, tied with twine to his hut. He was making an addition to it, needing a new room to dry his herbs in and stack firewood for the coming winter. Setting the stacks up, he covered and packed them with mud, clay and anchoring them with thick branches that would create a wind resistant wall when dry. He also rethatched his roof. By nightfall he was nearly complete with one wall and half the roof thatched. Stretching with a yawn, he gathered some vegetables from his garden, washed them in the lake and laid down by a fire outside, eating them raw and looking up as the stars started to peek out through the spreading ink of nightfall.

((Sorry, I was in a meeting))

Damien Johnson considered himself to be a patient man. But after spending the past hour on the phone arguing with a man he barely tolerated, he longed to punch something. "Mr. Johnson?"

Goliath, his guard, peeked inside. "Mr. Dire is still waiting to see you."

"Send him in," Damien ordered, standing and smoothing out his suit as his guard showed in the mercenary. "Sorry for the wait. I have been on the phone for an hour with a man I long to hit. Repeatedly. Anyways - I take it you've found her?"

Damien sorely hoped the best tracker in the city had succeeded, because otherwise, he didn't have any better options, because Hunter Dire was the best he had met. After finding out Galadriel had disappeared, it took much of his self control not to kill her mother for tossing her to the sharks. As he rose in the field of crime, he ensured that her mother would never hurt anyone again. Oftentimes he'd think about the nights Galadriel would spend with him, away from her parents and their fighting. The two of them would curl up on his twin mattress, huddled close for warmth in his frigid home - how he longed to have those days returned to him. Damien reseated himself in his chair and beckoned to the one across from his desk. "Please, have a seat."

Brienna Willis climbed out of the taxi, staring up at her hotel. It was the first time she had been back to the city where Hunter had lived since they moved. She had come for closure about his death - the only thing she hadn't gotten after years of separation and three therapists. Brienna had already narrowed down the list of probable cemeteries in the city, she just needed to call to find out which one held his grave. Even after so many years such a statement still stung. Despite their unlikely friendship the bond between the two of them was undeniable. She checked in and made her way to her room before making the calls, and after all three - nothing. None of this cemeteries had a grave for Hunter Dire. And as she continued her search, it dawned on her: if Hunter wasn't anywhere in those cemeteries, any of them, then... "It's not possible," She whispered to herself, shoving her phone in her pocket and dashing out of the hotel room. Her senses expanded as she shifted slightly, her sense of smell and eyesight sharpened. "He's alive," She whispered to herself. "Now I have to find him."

It was becoming harder and harder for Luna to buy enough to eat. Centaurs in general consumed a lot of food, and pregnant ones? Even more so. That's why she was sleeping in a scraggly patch of woods in a dangerous part of town instead of her formerly dingy apartment. Considering it was December, it was always cold, but she had to eat. That's where all her money went. She didn't have much to spare after that - waitressing didn't exactly pay well. She liked going on runs, it warmed her bones underneath her thin hoodie and was supposedly helpful for a baby. It's where she was now - just running, all the way through the countryside and into the slopes of the mountains. Usually she didn't go this far, but the diner was closed and she had nothing better to do. She slowed for a moment, flanks heaving slightly, and pawed lightly at the ground. If only she wasn't stuck like she was. If only she didn't have sorry excuses for parents. If only she hadn't been forced into marriage. "I can't live on 'if onlys'," She said to herself. "It won't get us anywhere." Luna realized she had been talking to her baby a lot lately. She didn't have money to go to a doctor, so she had to trust that it was progressing as it should - not that she would know. Shaking her head, she shivered and started running again. If she stayed still to long, the cold would seep into her bones and she wouldn't be able to stop shivering. She ran until she noticed in the crisp night air a slow rise of smoke - she probably wouldn't have looked if she hadn't smelled it. Luna sighed, pawing the ground again. It was too late to go back to the city now - might as well try to seek shelter with a stranger.

She spurred herself onwards, slowing as the ridge she was on sloped downwards. The leaves were slick against the ground and she was careful not to fall as she moved towards what looked like a small hut. Someone had made a fire outside, and seemed to be enjoying the nightfall. "Hello?" She asked cautiously.

"I would take you up on that offer, but if you want her brought in by nightfall it's best that I don't. I have found someone with the same name as this woman you seek, but her description doesn't fit.... however, this matches her scent" he pulled out a bright red scarf Galadriel had crocheted for herself and had made Damien a blue one with a matching hat for Christmas long ago. He set it on the desk. "She's completely filthy and I can smell other scents on her but I have located her with some difficulty. She certainly knows how to hide from others. If you want her brought in I ask for my payment upfront. She's a hellcat, watched her fight off four drunkards. One whom is missing an eye now so I know she'll be... difficult to apprehend." He said looking up at him. "We got a deal?"

------

Galadriel still shiver under the blanket when a smell tickled her nose. Food. Slipping out of the blanket, the tiny fox sniffed around till she came out on the other side of the overpass. She found a half eaten burger, a really greasy one but one can't be picky when hungry. She snapped at the patty between the buns and lifted it out when a click happened, the suddenly a heavy steal box was dropped from above trapping her. Her weakened state couldn't lift it off, and it had lips on the side making it hard to tip over. She sat in a huff, then ate the patty as she waited for someone to come and check under it.

------

Craven turned at the voice. Female it sounded like. "Oh, hello! Come by the fire, I'll get more vegetables for you to eat. I have berries too. " He said getting up heading to his garden. "I hardly get people out here so please pardon any rude behavior I might have. " He said gathering more food then trotting to the lake washing them. "Hope you don't mind raw veggies."

"Excellent," Damien said approvingly. His mouth twitched ever so slightly at Dire's assessment of her personality - he was quite right. However, his calm, steely expression did not match the hope he was feeling flare in his chest. "She is a firecracker." He agreed. "I have more than enough funds to take care of any... injuries you might sustain." He reached down, pulling a sleek black box from under his desk and flipping open the latches. He studied it for a moment before spinning it around - there were several stacks of $100 bills inside, adding up to one thousand dollars. "Feel free to count it if you wish, Dire. But let it be known that we have a deal. Do not let me down. I am not a very... forgiving man, though considering you're one of the best third party men I use I would be reluctant to make your life difficult." He glanced at Dire's eye patch. "But at the same time, it seems someone else has already tried." He mused. "When you get her, bring her to my secondary home. I will have Tucker and Tia waiting there for you. If there's anyone in there, shoo them out - though they're probably all out drinking now, the useless lumps."

Tucker and Tia were two of the four children he housed in his true home. Tucker was the oldest, at thirteen, and Tia was almost eight. Damien picked them up off the streets, and since he only took in young children rather than teenagers who could take care of themselves, Tucker had lived with him for some years and was the only one he had legally adopted. Not to mention, Tucker was one of his most loyal and the messenger he trusted the most. "Let me know when you bring her in, just make sure that she's in an inner room so that she can't slip out. I'll send instructions to the children."

"Oh, thank you," Luna said softly - timidly. Upon standing it was clear that he was not only a centaur, but a large winged male. Luna had learned from experience not to trust male centaurs. Though, his voice did sound familiar. "I don't mind veggies. They're healthy. I need healthy things for..." She stopped, shaking her head. "Anyways. I'm Luna." She said, folding her legs underneath her as he busily gathered some more food. She felt quite useless, as if she should be helping him somehow - though she was freezing, and the fire was deliciously warm against her chilly skin.

Hunter smiled, showing off a chipped tooth. "Will do sir. Keep in mind however the one who did make my life difficult... ended up digging their own grave. " He says taking the cash and sticking it in his leather jacket. "You have my number, text me the address and I'll deliver within the hour. A wolf kin's honour." He said saluting and turning around taking his leave.

He headed over in his truck to see if his trap worked, seeing it caught something, he shifted, sniffed around the box checking to see if it was her. Seeing it was, he shifted back, slipped the bottom closed and lifted it into the truck bed. He checked his phone, then headed to the house swinging the heavy knocker at the door three times. He had set the box on a dolly for it to be easier to handle, it was small enough to fit through the door, but big enough to fit a person who was crouched. He tapped his foot as he waited for the door to open.

Galadriel banged on the inside of the box, yowling and screeching in her different forms until she lay as a fox, eyelids heavy having drained her energy shifting from shape to shape the entire time the box was moving. Once it stopped she listened carefully as her capture knocked on something. Her heart beat quickened, through the tiny holes in the metal box she can smell a dog. Well a wolf. Did he plan on taking her back to that wretched place? She bore her teeth and readied to pounce out as soon as she was able too.

-----

Craven stopped. "Luna? I... used to know a centaur named Luna. ..... She was a pretty dappled grey." He said softly still washing the vegetables. He then got up and moved over to her holding out the basket, freezing once he got to the fire light. "It can't be..... the fire..." his back legs gave out and he sat down hard. "I.... I thought you.... " He blinked in disbelief and got up trotting inside his hut and brought out a blanket for her. "Do you remember me? It's me... Craven Wilde..."

"I don't believe your person had a veritable army behind him, either," Damien said, chuckling slightly. "Thank you for this. I know you're looking for someone too - if you would like, I can have people look out for her. Consider it extra incentive to deliver, if you'd like," He said with a wink. "See you soon, Dire. I'll meet you at the house." Damien sent him the address first before striding out of the office, phone against his ear as he called Tucker.

"Hello?" Said the youth.

"Tucker, pack yourself and Tia and overnight bag. We're staying in the secondary house for the night, and I have an assignment for you. Be ready by the time I arrive. Understand?"

"Yes sir," Tucker said. "See you soon."

Damien hung up, driving over to his first home as quickly as possible. He left the car running, swinging out and heading inside. He was greeted by Kai and Rose, the other two children who stayed in his home. "They're coming," Rose said matter of factly. She was eight, like Tia, though the two were quite different.

Tucker came bounding down the stairs first, bag in hand, with Tia followed behind more slowly. Damien fixed the remaining two children with a firm look. "Be good for Mrs. Harris, okay?" Mrs. Harris was their babysitter when he wasn't home.

"Yes sir!" The two chorused, and with that Damien herded Tucker and Tia into the car and was off once more. When he arrived Dire was not yet there, and he explained to the children what they would be doing. "I have an old friend being delivered here. Tia, you can help her with anything she needs. If she asks who I am, just tell her an old friend. Tucker, ensure that no one gets inside her room. I'll be in my office if you need me, but there shouldn't be anyone coming in yet." The two nodded, and Damien greeted Dire when he arrived. "Thanks for this." He surveyed the box in slight amusement as he rolled it into an inner room and removed it from the dolly and returned it to its owner. "If you need anything, let me know." He saw out the wolf kin before returning to the box, crouching down. "Listen, I'm not going to hurt you. I have you in a bedroom in my home where you can shower in an adjacent bathroom and change your clothes for ones the wardrobe. They should be close to your size. Tia is eight, if you need anything, ask her. Tucker is thirteen and simply guarding your room, both to keep you in and keep others out. He'll be outside the door. As long as you stay in this room, you'll be relatively safe. Tia will get me once you're finished - I promise, you'll understand everything soon." Amusement tinted his voice slightly as he continued. "Try not to harm the children, please?" He breezed out of the room, leaving Galadriel in the care of Tia and under Tucker's guard. He felt excitement growing in the pit of his stomach - soon, he would be back with his best friend again.

"Craven?" Luna was on her hooves quickly, as soon as her small baby bump would allow. She tackled him in a tight hug as soon as he emerged back outside, burying her face in his shoulder. "I'm so sorry!" She cried. "My parents, they dragged me away as I escaped and wouldn't let me come back to say goodbye." She said. No wonder his voice had sounded familiar. Though what would he think of her now? Homeless, with foal and no male to support her and the baby. "I didn't mean for you to think that I... I..." She shook her head. "If only I had tried to escape sooner. I could have been here instead of forced to be with him and-" She burst into tears, all the emotion she had been holding back rising to the surface at the return of her closest friend.

Hunter showed the child how to open the box looking at Damien before he left. He reached into his wallet and pulled out a old prom picture, he had both his eyes, and was standing with a girl. He tapped the creased, dingy photo. "Her. I'm looking for her. " With a sad look at leaving his favorite picture there, he left the home. Getting into his truck, he went to the bad side of town, to an apartment building that rented by week with a cheep price. He went inside, paid four weeks in advance with two hundreds then went to his room on the bottom floor and flopped on his sleeping bag, the bed too springy and squeaky for his liking.

----------

Galadriel's ears twitched at the voice. It sounded familiar but it couldn't be, he's been dead for ten years. Remaining still, she heard the door close then the latch release, one of the flaps springing up, as she sprung out twisting to attack- she halted seeing the little child blinking at her the smiling shyly at her. Surveying the room and seeing that the voice was correct about the place she returned to her human self standing on her feet and walking over to the wardrobe. "Where am I?" She asked the child blinking at the walk in closet full of the clothes she used to wear. Not a dress or slinky outfit in sight, just Harry potter shirts, Skillet and other bands, some from Daytona beach bike week, others from Sturgis. Guy hoodies and other graphics tees along with jeans, cargo pants, leather jackets, fingerless gloves and combat boots. She squealed with delight as she found a Daytona sleeveless denim vest, a black tank top and a pair of black ripped jeans dragging them out of the closet and laying them on the bed.

"You must be Tia. I'm Galadriel, you sweetie can call me GG. " She grinned at the child and peeked into the bathroom. "Holy-" she swore "This place is huge! Talk about a bathroom you can play baseball in..." she said with a whistle quoting her favorite song Rockstar. She went out of the room. "Do not repeat what I just said, that word is a bad word, you shouldn't sully your sweet little mouth with such fowl things. I'm gonna shower, ugh, I reek. It might be a while. Ten years of bird bathing doesn't cut through the grime well." She went back in to the bathroom. After a couple minutes she poked her head out once more. "Um.... do you know how to turn the shower on?"

------

As soon as Craven put his arms around her, he could tell she was thin. Much to thin to his liking. He sniffed. "W-why are you so skinny? Who is "him" please Luna boona tell me everything, you eat while you talk I don't like this, you're far to thin to be healthy..." He says starting to cry. He draped the blanket over her back and lead her to the fire, helping her lay down, taking a spot beside her and covering her flank with a wing to keep her warm. He pushed his unfinished dinner along with the freshly cleaned veggies towards her so she can eat her fill. "It's okay, I'm here now. Tell me everything.."

((Finished my last final today and I'm pretty sure I passed! No more studying for a month, yay!

Also, Damien gets an A+ for vagueness. 10/10 will probably be vague again.))

The first thing Damien did after obtaining the photo from Hunter was photocopy it so that he could return it. After that - he paced back in forth in his room as he waited.

Tia smiled shyly. "Daddy says that too," She told Galadriel. "You're in a home." Tia said. "Though you can't leave this room because sometimes daddy's mean workers come in. It's why we don't live here," She said matter-of-factly. What Tia said was entirely true - Damien's men who didn't have a home or was kicked out by their landlords would often stay in this one for several nights. Damien seemed to tolerate it, if only for the fact that they paid him to stay there. Tia was swinging her feet back and forth as she sat off the bed, sliding off the comforter as Galadriel poked her head back out. She padded into the bathroom, yawning slightly as she demonstrated how to use the faucet. "Enjoy your bath," Tia said shyly, slipping back into the bedroom and pulling the bathroom door shut behind her.

Damien had returned to Tucker who stood guard by the door after twenty minutes of pacing his office. "Everything alright?"

"I think so," Tucker said. "They both seem fine."

"Good," Damien nodded his approval. "Remember, no one goes in. I don't know when those that are staying will be back. If you need anything, yell."

"Okay," Tucker nodded. "You know, you could just stand out here."

"That's creepy," Damien said, shaking his head. "Not exactly the best impression to make after ten years."

"I suppose not," Tucker agreed. Damien heard faint, raucous laughter from outside.

"Be casual, don't make it seem like you're guarding something," Damien warned. "I'll be in my office." He slipped off, back into the room. Despite his complete trust in Tucker's abilities, Damien grabbed a handgun - just in case. The men who lived here, at the very least, were very expendable.

It was dark enough that it was safe for Brienna to slip unnoticed and shift fully into her lumbering cat form. Drinking in the night air, she moved like a shadow towards the shadier parts of town. That would be where she would find him, of this she was certain.

~ ~ ~

Luna forced the emotion back, settling with him by the fire. His added warmth was like some sort of luxury, yet she still tensed slightly as his wing settled around her. She wasn't completely sure how he had changed in the past years, though she went with her instincts and decided to trust him. "Haven't been able to afford enough food. I need a lot more since... maybe I should start from the beginning," She said slowly before pulling a few of the vegetables to her. After wolfing down a few of the vegetables, she shifted slightly towards him, soaking in more of his body heat before beginning. "It all started a little over a year ago. A new stallion moved in, a big black black one. My parents thought it was a brilliant idea, arranging our marriage, so less than a month later I was an unwilling bride." She paused for a moment before continuing. "He was demanding, unafraid of taking what he wanted when he wanted it. Even if that something was me. Three months ago he died in an unfortunate accident - and I found out that I was pregnant with his foal." She choked out, tears stinging her eyes.

Galadriel had scrubbed her body pink and raw washed her hair four times and almost burned herself using scalding hot water to clean up. It took twenty minutes to a half hour and she was out, drying off and dressing, brushing her hair after blow drying it. She came out and sat on the bed with the tank top, and ripped jeans on. "So, who is your daddy?" She asked warily. Glancing at the door. She heard voices outside. The drunk kind.

Holding her brush like a weapon she crept to the door listening to the men push and shove each other stumbling around. One bumped into the door and she yelped then covered her mouth as a rough voice sounded. "Hey kid. Is there a girl in there? I think the boss thought about us guys!" He called back to two other men.

---

Heaving a sigh, he hid his cash, then heading out to a McDonald's to get a mcflurry before heading to the old park in his old neighborhood. The meaner rougher older kids are druggies hung out at this time, but the regulars know to avoid him as he sat down at a park bench looking out at his run down home, now abandoned and condemned, taken over by homeless squatters but still was his home.

--------

He was sobbing uncontrollably now. "H-how dare they use you so! I'm glad he's dead or else I would've kicked in his ugly face! You can stay here with me. I was making a herb drying room, but it can be your room instead. I know medicine now, and can help you get healthy and make sure your foal is too. Please stay here. I understand if you don't trust me, but I haven't changed much. I live alone and it's nice and quiet up here. The air is fresh, better than the town. Please stay. I'll take care of you Luna boona. I swear I will."

"You look pretty," Tia said shyly. "I hope I'm as pretty as you someday. My daddy? He said to call him your old friend. He's not my real daddy, but he's really nice. He feeds and looks after us when nobody else wanted to." She said, blue eyes widening at the sound of the men. "It's the mean men." She whispers. "Daddy doesn't like 'em but lets them stay anyways."

Tia tugged Galadrial back as the men shoved through Tucker and into the room. "So there is a girl. Bossman thought of us after all." He was a brutelike man, with a tanned face. He grabbed Galadriel, pulling her to him and slipping a hand up her shirt.

Tucker's form shifted, turning into a wolf growling with rage. "Out of the way, pup." One of the other two said, flicking a hand and sending Tucker into the wall. The boy whimpered. "Stay down." He flicked a hand again, clearly a warlock, and Tucker was still. "Someone get the girl out of the way."

Tia slipped out of the room, yelling "Daddy!" as she bolted towards the office.

Damien was already halfway down the hall, gun in hand. "Go into my office, Tia." The little girl nodded and he whipped into the room, gun raised and giving a loud crack. The man holding Galadriel crumpled, dead. "Pity." He didn't sound remotely remorseful. "He was a good fighter. Fish, I already hated you. You're both going to the pit."

"But everyone who goes there dies!" The warlock said, his face paling.

Damien gave them both a cold smile. "That's the idea. Now get out of my sight."

The two bolted, and Damien set his gun down on the dresser after clicking on the safety. "Hello Galadriel. Are you alright?"

Brienna prowled deeper into the slums. Her mouth parted, and the sour smell of garbage and unwashed bodies hit her tongue as she scented the air. But underneath... she inhaled. There it was. She prowled forward, tasting the air as she went. A slight breeze stirred, and his scent grew stronger. She was close, she knew it. Inhaling once more, she was hit with such a strong scent of garbage outside a dilapidated apartment building that she gagged and sneezed loudly. Shaking her head, she moved out of the alleyway - and there he was. She squinted. He was missing an eye, and looked distinctly more dangerous than she remembered, but it was definitely Hunter. She hesitated. What would she say to him? 'Hi, it's been years and I've thought you were dead the whole time's - yeah, that would work. She snorted out a huff. He had probably seen her now. So putting aside her nerves, Brienna took a deep breath and moved towards him.

"I feel like I should be the one crying," Luna said, awkwardly patting his shoulder. She blinked, tearing at his offer. "You would do that for me? Really?" She wrapped him in a tight hug, patting his back soothingly as he cried from the pain she had to go through. "Thank you. No one has ever been as kind to me as you were - and still are, it seems. I'd like to stay here with you. It's beautiful out here and certainly better than where I've been sleeping." She flicked her tail, looking up at him, popping another vegetable in her mouth. "I'm five months along now. I'm showing since I haven't had nearly enough to eat. I'm not sure if you can see it now, but during the day you can. Six months to go." She smiled slightly. "I'm not as scared now, not like I was. I was terrified that I wouldn't be able to get the foal what it would need, but now..."

When the men came in and one grabbed her pulling her close she half shifted her teeth to fox fangs and bit him on the neck. A loud pop and her ears where ringing, the man went limp dropping to the ground. She watched the exchange and spat out the blood. "Who the hell are you? I just showered and now I'm covered in blood. If you plan on taking me back to that sex ring I can tell you now, kids or not I'll kill you and anyone else in my way!" She hesitated and added "well, not the kids but any man who is in my way." She raised her fists and got into a fighting stance. "I'll say it again, touch me, you die." She spat out blood again and bore her teeth at him, eyes rapidly changing color with her emotions.

A short pause as she glanced down at the body, bullet wound to the back of the head. She looks back at him, focusing on his chest and hands in case he moved. "Then again.... you killed your man, and by the sounds of it the other two as well.... why? What do you want with me, and why won't you let me go?" She had noticed he stood between the doorway and herself.

--------

His ears twitched and lightning fast a shudakin was flung in her direction and impaled on the ground before her paw. "Who's there?" He demands eye narrowing. If anyone can pull off looking fierce with a m&m Mcflurry in his hand.... it'll be Hunter. His single eye surveyed the shadows, spotting light reflecting off of a pair of eyes. Whoever it was, they were up wind of him and he couldn't get a clear scent the fowl stench of the near by dump clouded his nose.

---------------

Craven sniffed and rubbed his eyes. "I'm sorry, I've been alone for a few years now. Hearing something so cruel broke my heart. You need not worry about anything. Tomorrow I'll help you clean up and make herbs that would help you gain weight faster. It'll make you really hungry but I'll be hunting and fishing for winter food stores. I usually get enough to last well into the spring so there should be enough for you and the little one. Be careful though around here. The only danger here is Wildcats, and they get desperate during winter. I've fraught off quite a few, if you stay close to me, you'll be safer than a queen bee in her hive..."

"Have I truly changed that much?" Damien asked softly, moving away from the doorway and towards Tucker - slowly, as if to show that he meant no harm. His gun was still on the dresser. "I've spent years looking, ever since I got out of the hospital, and I have to admit, this wasn't exactly the reunion I expected." He knelt by Tucker, who was slowly coming to. He slowly shifted back, allowing Damien to hoist him to his feet. "You alright?"

"I think so," The boy said, nodding. "Where's Tia?"

"In the office," Damien told him, and Tucker headed out of the room, limping slightly and leaving the two alone. Damien straightened fully, placing his hands in his pockets as he stared calmly at her. "I can take care of them, you know," There was a hint of anger in his voice. "I have power now. The people your mother sold you to - I can dispose of them. Permanently." He let out a breath, walking leisurely about the room. He never got too close. "Sorry about the blood. It wasn't intentional. You can get another shower, if you'd like." He said with a shrug. "I'm afraid I'm not exactly the same boy you saw all those years ago. Not at all." Damien shook his head, staring down at the still body of the man he had shot. There was no emotion on his face as he nudged the body with the toe of his shoe. "That's going to be a pain to clean."

Brienna let out a startled huff, pulling her paw away from the shurikin. She eyed him warily before shaking out her coat, the cat seeming to ripple off in place of human flesh. She watched him, her eyesight not nearly as strong as before. Her voice was quiet when she spoke. "Hunter? It's me. Brienna. I've come back home."

~ ~ ~

"Don't feel bad," Luna said. "I was just never around crying or anything - though I suppose I should prepare for it." She said, lips twitching upwards into a smile. "Thank you for doing this, Craven. I haven't had a friend since you, to be honest. Don't worry - I won't stray far. Nesting females rarely do. At least the foal won't be born in the middle of winter. I've still got about six months to go." She said, rubbing her small baby bump softly. "I've estimated sometime around June." She told him, leaning fully into his side. "It's nice out here - peaceful."

"You can't be.... he's dead! He's......gone... and that censorkip.gif murdered my father that same day and sent me away!" Tears started to gather in her eyes as she looked into his. There's no mistaking it, she knew those miss matched"Brie eyes. "They beat me, starved me only letting the forceful ones have their way with me! Kept me in chains and the dark! Ten years. TEN censorkip.gif YEARS!! You should've looked harder!" She ran at him all fight seeping from her as she weakly hitting his chest as she started crying. "If....if you really are my DJ.... why didn't you look harder? ....... End them. End every single censorkip.gif who dared touch me! I don't care if you kill that gold digging hussy that gave birth to me! I'll kill her myself! She means nothing to me!" She was trembling now leaning against him. "I-it is you.... my DJ... the clothes in the closet... I should've known... only you would know me so well..." she burrowed her face in his jacket sobbing. "I thought you were dead.... I thought you were takin from me....." She muttered. He didn't like Nick names however she'd call him DJ to annoy him some times. Galadriel was always the strong one. She never showed her tears to anyone, not even her best friend, however now she fell on her knees in front of him, bawling like six year old who got a broken arm. She tried to speak through her blubbering. " W-w-why didn't you c-come?...I n-not in-innocent any-m-more... I-I'm broken and d-damaged. S-so much to being pure on my w-wedding day.... they used me... because I'm pretty... I wish I wasn't like this!.." ten years of pent up emotions broke in a flood of tears and sobs.

-------

"Brie? " He said softly. Dropping his snack he ran towards her and tacked her in a hug. "You're here! I've been searching for you! I've looked for you... I'm sorry I disappeared, I didn't want to.. He made me.. they made me.." He muttered holding her tightly.

--------

"It's nice in June.." He said softly laying a hand over hers. "I'm glad I made the fire outside... " He said softly kissing the top of her head. "I have grooming products too, your hooves look like they are hurting you. The nails need trimming or else it'll crack and that would be extremely painful. I've done this sooner if I knew. I moved out here.. lots of mares threw themselves at me so I went away from that. I thought I lost the one I truly loved. I'm so sorry... I should've looked for you. I would've gotten you out... "

"I know, I know, I'm so sorry," Damien whispered quietly. "I was so low back then. I had no power, no say, little connection. You have no idea how desperately I looked, the people I dealt with, the things I did to get even the slightest scrap of information. I rose in the ranks, all the information I had led to dead ends, and though I had eyes and ears everywhere it was as if the ring that had you was invisible - hidden to even the gangs, the mobs, accessible to only the select few." Damien paused, scooping her off the ground and carrying her gently to the bed, laying down with her on the comforter and allowing her to sob into his chest. "I tried so hard, Gala. So hard. It took an outsider, a lone wolf to find you when I could not! I've always had people out searching, even when they said it was a waste of time, that you were probably dead or marred beyond belief, that it wasn't worth it... but I kept searching. Please, believe me when I say this. I will kill every single one of them for everything they put you through, and I will never let you go again." He cupped her face in his hands, thumbing away her tears, his expression gentle. "Stay with me. I can keep you safe, if you'll allow me to. Tell me what I can do to help you heal."

~ ~ ~

"Hunter!" Brienna wrapped her arms around him, hugging him tightly. "I understand, I know, I just thought... after I saw you get hit, I left to see if you were alive... your grandfather, he said, he said you had died." She told him. "I came back to find your grave, to get some closure... these past years have been horrible for me." She smiled into his shoulder - their height difference was small. "I'm glad I came."

~ ~ ~

"So am I," Luna said, squeezing his hand. "I nearly froze last night, it was so cold." She shivered involuntary. "My fingers were blue, and I was so scared that the cold would hurt the foal," She told him, before glancing down at her hooves. "They are, I've just... learned to ignore it, I guess. I cleaned them over a month ago, but unfortunately that isn't enough." She sighed, before hugging his torso tightly. "It's not your fault! We were just kids - you were ten, there's nothing you could have done!" She exclaimed, before smiling slightly. "Lots of mares, huh? You never were one for attention. Though I won't deny that they have good taste, at the very least." She glanced up at him. "Would you like to feel the baby bump? People like to do that. Especially the waitresses - it's not that there aren't any centaurs in the city, but they generally tend to live a little farther out. Just neat to them, I guess." Luna shrugged.

"He wouldn't h-have... I escaped t-three weeks ago..." she sniffles and holds him till her hiccups stopped and she was breathing semi normal. "...I'll stay. I'll stay with you. Just, keep those wretched men away from me. I have nobody else. I'm not going to lose you again.i don't want to lose you again." She held onto him tightly. After a moment she rubbed her eyes. "Lemon and vinegar helps get blood from carpets and stuff. Can I get something to eat? Something decent... I've been eating out of trash cans for weeks.." she sniffed and rubbed her eyes with her hand going to the bathroom to wash her mouth and face blowing her nose. Once she returned she chewed on her nail. "Tia is a cutie. Can I see if she's okay? She looked really scared....." Galadriel looked at the body. "It would've been a bigger mess if you'd come any later. Would've broke that big mirror and slice him to ribbons. Who knows, if he'd dropped his pants, his balls would've come off too. " She stated simply, like one would have been talking about neutering a high strong dog. "This whole mob ring better not run dog fights. You know how I feel about those."

----

"I'm glad too." Hunter's look darkened when she mentioned his grandfather."Well, he lied like he always does. Well, as they say, dead men tell no tales. Sit, let's talk. What happened since we've seen each other?" He lead her over to the bench sitting down. "Tell me everything. " He says sitting down beside her. "Obviously I'm alive and well." He took her hand and placed it on his chest, so she can feel his heart beat. "See, I'm not some undead zombie unlike you kitty." He blinked- or it would've been a sassy wink if he wasn't missing an eye. "Any job? Mate, new friends? Anything interesting?"

----

"Eat up then we'll go inside before the cold hits. "He said adding to the fire. "Are you sure I can?" He asked. "Feel the baby?" He said with a blush. He hesitantly put his hand on her belly. "Is that....?" He asked softly. "That's the foal?.....I'm sure it'll take after its momma. " He grinned then shivered picking up the dinner. "On second thought, let's get inside before we both catch a chill. With you so thin and with child, that can be dangerous." He helped her up and lead her inside his hut.

To centaur standards, it was small, but for a human it would've been large. It was big enough for a fire pit in the middle, and for him to move around comfortably, able to stretch out his wings as well. It was long and rectangular, sections blocked off by long curtains of sown hide and small stones. He rekindled the fire, using a branch from the one outside. He pulled back a curtain in the corner showing a nest of soft sweet grass, moss, feathers and bits of mint and lavender to make it smell nice. "Take my bed I'm fine standing. Please, I insist. You need it more then I do. "

"Shh, it's alright," Damien soothed, rubbing circles on her back. "They won't be able to get you while I'm around." He told her. "I have a bedroom for you, back at my other home - no one can get into there. Not all of the men that work for me are that bad. But if you'd rather stay in a room with me, if that makes you feel safer - then that is fine too," He told her, before smiling slightly. "Don't worry, I have men to take care of this. Of course you can have a real meal. What would you like?" He stood, waiting patiently for her to clean up before returning. "Of course, I need to go check on Tuck, too. He's a werewolf, so he'll heal pretty quickly, but I'm sure he still hurts." He chuckled. "Now that's the Galadriel I remember. You think I would stoop as low as dog fights? I may be mob boss, but even I have morals." He snorted at the irony of his statement. "Or at least limits." Damien offered her his hand. "I'll take you to the office."

Brienna allowed him to pull her to the park bench and sat down beside him. She felt his heartbeat, strong and steady, and gave him a deadpan look. "Haha, that's hilarious. Zombie kitty, honestly." She rolled her eyes before shrugging. "Not much, to be honest. I had a job for a little while, then quit. I have a few friends, other werecats like me. They can only turn into housecats, though, so I know that they're jealous." She choked slightly. "Mate? Oh, no. Nope, no mate for me." She shrugged again. "You know how unusual it is for werecats to find their mates anyways. There's very little chance that I'll find mine. That's just the way it is, ya know?"

~ ~ ~

"Relax, you won't hurt it," Luna said, guiding his hand gently to the rounded curve of her belly. "See. Just fine." She blushed slightly. "I hope so. I don't want it taking after its sire." She shook her head, allowing him to help her to her feet (even though she didn't really need it) and lead her inside. The interior was soon filled with the warmth of a crackling fire. "This is nice, very homey - I love it." She told him, finishing the food he had given her. Luna felt fuller than she had in a while - though it certainly didn't help that she couldn't afford lunch all the time, and her dinners were always small. She smiled at him, moving over to hug him once more. "Thank you. You should stay with me - I know I'll get cold, even with a blanket. I'm just too skinny to produce much body heat. Besides, I'd feel bad for making you sleep standing."

She took his hand and walked close to him. "In the same room. Like old times in that drafty old house of yours when the fighting was bad at my house. ...... I went to visit my father when I got out. The grounds keeper said your mama gave him a proper burial before my mom could sell his plot. I asked him if he knew where she was and... He showed me hers a few plots away. I'm sorry for your loss. I put some of her favorite wild flowers on her grave. You know the kind you would gather for her birthday and mother's day? I found lots of those on the cliff. I slept there the first three nights. The grounds keeper.. Kyle I think he was, left a bowl of water out for me. He was happy I got some mice that where in the tombs." She said softly. She traced some marks on his hands. "You sure do have a lot of scars.... I'm glad you survived... and where looking for me. Just, not a word about me crying like that, I don't know what came over me. Oh, and a pizza from Uncle John's. Meat lovers. You should probably get two... well for me. " she added.

-----------

"Oh come on, do I look like a cat? It isn't unusual for a wolf kin to know who their mate is without even realizing it. I suppose it's my turn. So..... I'm a thief and a murderer. " He said hesitantly afraid she might run away from him. "On the way to your house, I got hit by that van. It was hard enough to chip a tooth and daze me but not enough to kill. My grandfather was Alpha of a pack of mercenaries. My mom ran away, not wanting me to grow up that way, but he found me when she died. I stayed with him only because he threatened to kill you and your family, and he trained me to kill. Each generation of wolf kin is twice as strong as the last, so instead of my mother replacing him, grandfather wanted me to replace him.

I fought my father on my final day of training and stabbed him in his left eye killing him. So my grandfather took my eye as punishment and to show my place. He then said no mercenary should have outside attachments and ordered your death and to bring back your pelt. I got so mad..... ten of the packs highest ranked fighters died fighting me, and that includes my grandfather. I left the other twenty members and came here to find another family in your house. Your scent had faded from the place.

After that, I spent any time I can spare between jobs looking for you." He says looking at his hands. "I understand if you don't want to be friends with a killer.... "

"I'm glad you do. It'll be your home too now. " He hugged her back. "If you're certain amount that then I will. I have furs to cover the both of us. " He said softly trotting to a large crest and pulled out a bear fur, two linx pelts and a large blanket made from snow shoe rabbit pelts. "I sometimes sell these in the city, not often, but only when I need money to buy more seeds and herbs that don't grow well in these parts. Like aloe Vera. Those are dessert plants." He moved over to her, closing the curtain so only a little light came in and kept out the cold. He laid down behind her, letting her lean her on him, covering her once more with his wing and then the furs so they were nice and toasty warm. "Sleep well and easy my beautiful moon. You're safe now." He muttered softly.

Damien grinned. "Your wish is my command. Thank you... for visiting my mother. She passed not long after you disappeared. She was killed in the crossfire, part of some sort of initiation... I had no idea until it was too late," He said with a sad sigh. Damien glanced down at his hands, which were indeed riddled with scars, anything from knife wounds to bite wounds. "I've gotten used to it, it's not that big of a deal. Comes with the job description." He smiled. "Two meat lovers pizzas, coming up. Tucker likes those too, I'll have to get him one, and Tia and I like sausage..." He mused.

"Daddy!" Tia squealed as the two walked it. The little girl jumped in his arms, and not dropping Galadriel's hand, he held Tia to his chest with an arm. She peered up at him. "The mean men..."

"Won't bother you again," Damien promised. "Are you alright, Tuck?"

"Yeah, I'm okay. Bit sore though." Tucker told him.

"You want a Tylenol?" Damien asked. "I'm ordering pizza, so you won't have to take it on an empty stomach."

"Pizza!" Tia squealed, sliding down and darting away.

"That'd be great," Tucker said, smiling. "Thanks."

"No problem, kiddo," Damien said, pulling Galadriel lightly behind him into the kitchen. It was large and open, connected to the family room. Tia had turned on the TV. "Make yourself at home. I need to call for cleanup and for pizza," He told her, pulling out his cell phone. "Shouldn't take long." He called cleanup first, and after a short discussion with a man he called 'Mouse' Damien was ordering their pizzas from Uncle John's. "Should be here in half an hour." He told the other three. "Cleanup is coming too, but Mouse won't bother us."

"Hunter, I'm your best friend," Brienna said. "Everyone makes choices, and I'm certainly not going to condemn you for the ones you've made!" She exclaimed. "So... have you found your mate? I mean, it's only fair that I get to ask since you did." She teased him lightly.

"I don't mind," Luna said, watching him gather up blankets as she settled down in the soft bed. He placed himself beside her, allowing her to lean comfortably against him. Soon she was warm, and cozier than she had been since she left. "I'm going to need some winter clothes," She mused, growing drowsy. "And some things for the foal, when the time gets closer. We can worry about it later. Goodnight, Craven," Her eyes drooped as her breathing started to even out. "Sweet dreams."

"Hey tuck, you can call me GG. Kinda figured that one out DJ, I think I've met mouse before. He cleaned up a couple times in the other sells when the guys were.. far too rough with the girls.." she went silent. "Never went in mine. Probably because I fought so much. Don't get upset with Jim for not knowing or telling you. I was called a different name so he probably didn't know." She picked up Tia and set her on her lap. "Alright sweet cheeks, what are we watching? I don't think I've seen this show. Can you tell me about it?" She asked holding the little girl to her chest like a little doll. "Those big meanies won't bother us at all! Say sweetie, have you seen a fox?" She asked.

He leaned back in a huff. " Yes! Finally! I've been looking for her for ages and was going to tell her sooner but then this incident happened and she moved away.... " He trailed off looking at her with a raised eyebrow.

-----

"Yes, sweet dreams Luna.."He yawned and fell asleep beside her. It was a happy happy day. His friend was alive and he was going to take care of her. He was going to guard her with his life. And if her parents shall come with that stallion's brother in tow (for according to ancient custom, the mate of a stallion who passed away gets sent to the next of kin) he'd fight to keep her at his side. He will never leave her alone again.

Tucker gave a small smile easing himself onto the couch. Damien sat down next to Galadriel, wrapping an arm around her shoulders. His jaw dropped. "What? You know Mouse?! I mean, I knew he had other jobs, but it never occurred to me that..." He groaned, pinching the bridge of his nose. "Good thing is, I have an inside man now." Shaking his head, he chuckled at Galadriel's interactions with Tia - she seemed enraptured with the little girl. "I have two more kiddos at home. Kai is six, and Rose, who is eight like Tia. I hope you don't mind," He told her, ruffling Tucker's hair. The young teenager batted him away, rolling his eyes. "I'm not a kid anymore!"

"You are to me!" Damien said, grinning. "Tucker is the only one I've legally adopted, the others are fosters." He told Galadriel.

Tia turned in Galadriel's lap, smiling brightly and showing off a missing tooth. "It's called Doc McStuffins. It's my favorite show!" She said enthusiastically. "I've never seen a fox before, but Daddy can turn into a seal! He chases me around sometimes."

"Tia is a mermaid," Damien said. "Well, part mermaid. It's why she can leave the water."

The doorbell rang, and Damien stood. "That'll be Mouse. Be right back." He walked to the door, pulling it open. "Mouse, how are you."

"Good, thank you," Mouse said. He was a short man with messy brown hair and fidgety brown eyes. It was clear why he held the nickname. "Where's the mess?"

"Over here," Damien said, leading him to the bedroom. "I have pizza coming soon, so just keep a lookout for that so that you aren't seen. By the way - stop by my office tomorrow. I need to speak with you. Don't worry, you haven't done anything."

"Oh, okay," Mouse looked significantly less tense at that. "I'll get to work, then."

Damien nodded, returning to his place by Galadriel. "Having fun?"

"What, what?!" Brienna said, gaping slightly. "Me? It's me? But that doesn't make any... wait..." She stopped furrowing her brows. Her lips parted slightly, allowing her scent to hit her tongue. Alluringly sweet, as it always had been. It's why she enjoyed being around him so much, especially after she shifted. "Oh," She said to herself. "Oh! Why didn't I realize until now? No wonder you always smelled so good! I probably didn't realize because you're a wolf kin. Werecats aren't supposed to have a mate that's any sort of dog." She said. "No offense."

Luna twitched in her sleep, dreams chaotic, though she was warm enough to stay asleep. She kept seeing him in her dreams - York, the stallion she had been forced to wed - and it was enough to send fear coursing through her as she slept. jerking awake, she was disoriented for several moments before the events from the night flooded back. Her breathing slowly evened out and she relaxed against Craven's form once more, closing her eyes.

"Of course I don't mind, I love kids. Now cupcake, I've never seen a mermaid before but I will let you brush out my fur. Ah, I used to chase him around on the beach. He didn't know what he was when he was your age but I did, and he had to find that out for himself. " she handed the brush to Tia standing up and setting her back down on the seat.

When he returned, she was a fox laid across Tia's lap eyes closed and enjoying the brush smoothing her fur out even more. Her tail wagged a little bit.

"Oh so I smell good to the zombie cat. Hmm?" He huffed. " I was just as surprised. We can really mate with just about anything else except for werewolves and werecats. I don't really remember what the story was exactly... however wolf kin was born of a Canine and a fairy. Canine's are our nomadic more dog like brothers in the middle east. That's how come I look kind like a dog. We have the ability to see auras. We are drawn to our mate's aura because it's similar to our own. It's hard to explain. I used to see them strongly, but my grandfather dampened it by taking my eye, so I rely on scent now."

Craven woke when she did, muttering something under his breath and went back to sleep. He dreamed about what he always dreamed about. Fire. Except this wasn't the frightening out of control one, but a thrilling powerful one that was caused at his hooves as he ran. Golden tongues curled first forming waves then horses until a herd of a thousand horses thundered behind him as he raced as the sun and the moon overlapped, the moon rising and the sun setting in front of him.

"Good, good," Damien said with a smile, thumbing gently on the fur between her ears. "You look comfortable," He chuckled, standing once more as the doorbell sounded once more. Grabbing his wallet, he greeted the delivery man at the door. "This enough?" Damien asked, pacing him two twenties. The man nodded. "Keep the change." He was handed the four pizza boxes before heading back inside, closing the door with a foot. "Pizza is here!"

"Yay, pizza!" Tia cheered, waiting for Galadriel to move off her lap before running over. "You got sausage, right?"

"Of course," Damien said. "Tucker, I got you a meat lover's, and Galadriel, I got you two meat lover's, just like you asked." He pulled out some plates and cups. "Dig in."

"Why didn't you tell me?" Brienna asked him. "If you really knew for so long, you should have said something!" Hurt tinged at her voice. "Were you hoping to find someone else instead?"

((Should we just skip the next two until morning or wait for the others to sleep so we can skip them all together?))

Galadriel jumped off her lap and shifted taking the two pizzas with a crocodile grin. She ate hers right out of the box, polishing one whole box off in ten minutes. She drank a whole cup before starting on the next one slower this time. "You have no idea how good this tastes after having nothing but stale bread and water with a grey soup that tastes like gym socks for the past ten years.... " she said between bites. She paused and looked at him. "Why where you looking for me? I mean, I'm glad you were but.... a friend doesn't really look that hard... well okay.. never mind. You most likely herd what my mom did. It's nothing. Don't bother about answering that. It's a stupid question. " She picked at the Italian sausage on her pizza that was her third slice of her second pizza.

"7 billion people on this earth have different variations of auras. I can see who belongs with who but to a wolf kin there's only one true mate for them that's compatible with them, their strengths made up for the other's weakness. That night I got hit, I finally figured it out. It isn't until adulthood do we truly understand who our mates are. I was going to tell you... but... my grandfather also found that out and stopped me before I was even able to. I've looked high and low for you. I went to Canada, moved inland and my last search would have been the entire east coast and even then if I didn't find you, I'll travel all over just to look for you. " He touched her check whispering softly. "I wanted no one else. I wanted you and only you."

((Okay))

Damien chuckled at her enthusiasm, giving Tia a slice and sliding Tucker's pizza box towards him. The young werewolf literally wolfed it down, enjoying it immensely.

Damien ate his own, only eating four slices before leaning back. Tia had finally finished her first and reached for another. "Not the big one, you won't eat it all." She pouted and he sighed, giving her the piece anyways. "You want to know why I kept looking?"

Tucker stopped chewing, looking up curiously. He seemed to sense the atmosphere, and shrugged when Damien raised an eye brow towards him. "...I think I'm going to get my Tylenol now. C'mon, Tia."

"But I'm eating!" She protested.

"I can't reach the shelf."

"Okay!" The little girl hopped off her chair and followed Tucker out of the room.

"That's not a stupid question," Damien said softly. "You deserve to know. It wasn't just because I heard what your mom did. Sure, you are my best friend, but what sixteen year old kid commits murder for the smallest bit of information." He let out a breath, stood, and ran a hand through his hair. His hand trembled slightly, and he walked slowly over to her. "I searched so desperately, for so long, because I was in love with you, Gala. I am in love with you. I was going to tell you, but we were just kids then, and it was just... not the time." He shook his head, running his hand through his hair once more. "Look, don't worry about it. I'm still glad I found you because you're my best friend. If this is awkward, we can just pretend like it never happened. You just escaped from hell, you don't need this now."

Brienna blushed. "Oh," She said. "I never would have..." She hugged him tightly. "I'm really glad you're alive, Hunter." She leaned back. "I'm tired. Jet lag," She said with a yawn. "I should get back to my hotel. When can we meet tomorrow?"
