Fire, Ice, and Darkness Reboot

Recommended Posts

Pandion Haliaetus

The evolution of the osprey begins here.

1. Improved intelligence

2. The mastery over the elements of fire, ice, and darkness.

3. Flight beyond words.

4. The need for companions.

In this RP you are an osprey searching for a flock, or you are already in a flock. Some Ospreys are masters of ice. They can survive below zero temperatures and freeze others to preserve their lives... or end them. Other Ospreys have mastered the element of fire. They can dive into volcanoes and come out untouched, or set entire forests on fire. Some have even mastered the dark. They are simply nocturnal, pitch black, and possess enhanced senses. Rumors of other elements circulate, but they're just that. Rumors. At least, that's what most ospreys think...

Rules:

Do not kill other players in the game without their permission.

Do not have chicks before discussing it with the other players.

You cannot be your own relative or mate.

When I was editing this I wasn't paying attention and accidentally wrote Dark Ospreys as having "enhanced sentences" instead of senses. xd.png

Anyways, let me know what you think. I haven't told the mods to close the old IC just in case and I'm not sure what we're doing with the OOC. I didn't change much of the original post, just edited the orange title and reworded a few things. I also removed some rules I felt were unnecessary and edited those which I felt needed to be updated.

BTW this is gonna be the character list soon.

I think you should to avoid confusion and chaos

Seeing as most of the chat is going here, I can just call this the OOC and make another IC thread.

How are we going to start off in the new thread? Just where we left off or what?

What do you all want to do? I quite liked Lucy and Hoary's interactions, and made plans to intro two more Ospreys. (Might possibly be getting a friend into this...dunno, don't take my word for it )

I can't think of any way to do it and preserve those charas...

Well, I am going to keep Lava Plume. I'm going to edit some of her personality and stuff

Edit: For clarity, I meant redoing the current plot would make it hard to keep all these chara interactions/motivations we've developed.

I have an old Fire Osprey and quiet Dark Osprey I'll hopefully get in tomorrow, once I clear them with Silver. They should fit in, even in this reboot.

Well, if no one's objecting to it, I think continuing would be best. I guess everyone can just repost their last IC post?

And are we keeping the other inactive people's characters?

Edit: Somehow ninja'd, if you guys want NPC flocks then sure.

I can't decide myself if we should do reboot or continuation. Personally, I would love a better structuring of the setting (how the heck do Maple and Night flock fish?) and a fresh start that could bring in people. On the other hand, it might be better to keep going and not scrap our current plot.

We could do a mix of the two... but to be honest, I really liked the Lucent/Hoary interaction and I'd be kinda sad to see that cut short. I do think the plot needs to be defined a bit better, but I'd like to get your opinions on what you think it should be like.

We could continue and then retcon things we want to change.

Sidenote here: Anyone else find it kinda odd that the intro post says that evolution is beginning, but these ospreys are clearly evolved? Did Lionthrush have plans?

E: When the RP starts, should we delete all these OOC posts?

I think the plot would do good to have a revamp for clarity's sake. I still have no idea what Lion's original intentions were.

We're kindof at a stalemate for now, aren't we? Lava is on her own; Lucy and Hoary are chara-building; Snow and River went to roost with little info on Storm and Frost's location; and then we have the outliers. As for the inactive birds, well, we know Lion isn't coming back. There wasn't a huge impact from Phoenix and Eternal, so if you want to remove them, I think it'd be fine (tbh I know I said I'd play Frost, but I sorta don't want to, if I get these other two charas going.)

As for the layout of Geyser? I can get behind Winter living in the high alpines. But if Maple lives in volcanoes, wouldn't they need to be placed reasonably near the ocean so they'd have a food source? I don't immediately remember where Night Flock even lived now...

Dark: caves

Lava: Volcanoes

Ice: Mountains(?)

I never knew what Lion was thinking, their thoughts were not always there because they revealed the piloted AFTER they got people to join. That's where the wolves and humans come from. They absolutely refused to give the plot until they got people and refused to budged.

As is, I don't think we would be able to continue the plot without having it stale at some point. Perhaps add a more specific conflict other than just humans and wolves hunting ospreys? I have some ideas, but they'd require more players than we currently have. I think that the "evolution begins here" thing refers to possible human experiment interference? Or maybe just implying further evolution beyond the timeframe of the RP.

And no, you don't have to delete your posts, this is probably going to become the OOC.

Hmm...in my opinion, having wolves and humans as antagonists isn't terrible...(even if they are significantly more boring than the birds, and I dob't know why you'd play one)...

But, I feel like there should be a "greater cause" for the existence and evolution of these Ascended Ospreys. Like, the wolf and human/bird conflict could just be a side issue that needs overcoming, possibly alongside a more prevalent threat/destiny looms ob the horizon.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking too. Also maybe to make the wolves and humans more exciting we could give them tech modifications? Or maybe even have genetically modified wolves to match the ospreys? Maybe I'm just thinking too far into future tech...

I prefer the idea of Winter Flock living in riverine evergreen forests than mountains, but mountains do add extra protection.

What can we do for plot? Artifically evolved birds could be a thing, but that was suggested when we talked about new flocks.

My friend was actually wondering about this. I can see the wolves being modified species, but I dunno about the humans. An important question: exactly what time period does this RP sorta take place in? As in, how advanced ARE the humans? It's apparently enough to have dedicated scientists, but there's the presence of villages in place of cities or some such. I keep imagining it as on the ending edge of medieval (not really in terms of style, just in terms of advancement; they do have electricity from what I can tell, but I keep thinking they live in your stone homes with thatched roofs.) There's never been too much confirmation on that, so once it's made clear, it'll determine just how far the experimentations have gone (and can go).

Should I pull up all those suggestions again? They were more brainstorming elements to prepare for the future of the RP, considering there was a sort of discontent with the idea of expanding the number of flocks (which I agree with until the story called for there inclusion). Buuuuut, if the humans are trying to use the ospreys for whatever their own means are (pls tell me it's not world domination), they may just work with what they have. Calling back to the mechanical alterations, that's a thought.

And I wanted to clarify again: are the current flocks the only iterations of their flock? Like, and I know this is prolly a groan-worthy comparison, but like in AtLA, there was a Southern and Northern Water Tribe. That's the idea I'm getting at. Depending on that information, the world map would need to be planned to be smaller or larger than what we're immediately believing it to be.

What if the humans want to domesticate the ospreys and try to use them in some kind of human war? And the humans are pretty desperate to win, desperate enough to risk the wrath of the ospreys. Let's say that the birds who get "domesticated" aren't the same, even if they manage to escape the humans. Maybe they even turn on their own kind, too brainwashed by the humans to treat anyone other than their masters as allies. So, facing attack on all fronts and even from within, the ospreys have become desperate. Suppose that this ambiguous forest/volcano/cave place is their last stronghold, and the ospreys that reside here are the last of their kind. Then they could either resort to actually getting captured on purpose to try and gain some new powers from human experimentation, or something else which I haven't thought of yet.

That's all I have, please help me think of better plotlines and poke holes in my plot logic. ;-;

Edit: Ninja'd by Sugar-Free who basically rendered my points moot. *more tears*

For some reason I just really want to see flying mechanical death-birds, hence the more futuristic mental setting. I do think that the original RP seemed to lean more towards a medieval theme, especially since they used nets and not like tranquilizer darts.

What if the ospreys could breed with other elements. I know Lava Plume really wanted a mate, but she could mate with an osprey of a different element and the offspring could have both lava and whatever the father's element?

That might make chicks OP though. We could make it so certain abilities are dominant or recessive in genes or something like that.

I don't think any warrior cat-like RP took a dystopia spin. Count me in for the humans are domesticating everything. Maybe their justification is to control resources and the environment better so best Korea lives better

Oh! If we delve deeper into the human/osprey relationship, we could make it humans and birds vs human government.

There could be other flocks, but we need to change the territory size a little. In the original thread, there were non-ascended ospreys near the Winter Forest, but otherwise no other flocks.

I can't see why it couldn't be both environmental growth and a human-based war. Thy have to be using the ospreys for something, after all, to risk their lives trying to fool with them. I mean, they incinerated/iced/smoked an entire village D:

I imagine, with that -plot line, that experimentation is in its early stages. They may be able to currently alter an existing Ascendant, but aren't capable of making their own...yet. I mean, River is a freak of nature, so to speak, and apparently Frost had some sort of hidden background, as well...

For chicks, it could be as simple as passing down a mix of physical traits whilst only passing down one parent's powers. If a full mix of powers were to occur in a chick, it could either lead to termination (natural or by force D: seeing as Ascendants don't mix blood), or they might survive and become unstable. Maybe leading to the suppression of one side of their powers? Idk, throwing out some brainstorming material.

I really like the idea of captured Ascendants/experiments that go rogue end up being sided to their masters. It's tragic, really...but it could bring about a side plot about trying to rehabilitate these marred ospreys back into osprey society. Or, hell, they could even establish their own outcast society, fighting against both sides or even remaining neutral...
