The Dragonriders of Pern Lineage 2.0

Recommended Posts

I have a couple of questions/observations...

Pryanka.. about eggs that don't meet project guidelines.. wouldn't the simplest solution for this be to just not report/register any 'wrong' eggs? Like an accidental silver Lunar Herald.. it doesn't qualify as a project dragon, so don't report it. Gold, bronze and blue Lunar Heralds do qualify, so they can be reported.

Question 1.. can a caveborn gold Lunar Herald be junior queen? The lists haven't been updated to include the Lunar Heralds yet.

2. Can a Weyr have more than one caveborn gold queen? I changed my mind and would like to add another cb gold to the project.

3. How many junior queens can a Weyr have?

I'm going to be adding a bunch of new caveborns to Telgar.. lots of different colors, but all from the lists. Pern is probably going to be my new primary project, because it's a group project. Most of my other current projects are personal, so they aren't really urgent. So hopefully I'll have lots of Pernese eggs for everyone... and me, because I'll keep any egg that isn't adopted out. After all, a full strength Weyr is 500+ dragons. biggrin.gif

Also, how does everyone feel about things from Todd's books? Are they canon or non-canon. What about the books that Todd wrote WITH Ms Anne.. are they canon? I'm specifically wondering about some of the ideas that came up in Dragon's Time and Sky Dragons. Both were written by Ms Anne & Todd.

@Cinnamin Draconna - we can discuss the ideas from the todd/anne books via PM. To be honest, I haven't read them in a looong while now, so I'll take a look at your ideas and then we can go from there.

I think wrong eggs can just not be registered, yes. The reason I wanted to keep the breeding itself clean (to minimize wrong eggs) is that it'd be nice for all their progeny to be Pern dragons rather than using a Pern dragon later for other personal lineages or requests.

I think it definitely makes sense to allow our Weyrs to have multiple golds. If you want to register another CB Gold queen, go ahead. Your first queen will still be "senior queen" but that's more like an honorary designation since we can't conform Pern breeding dynamics into DC breeding dynamics that easily. Subsequent CB Golds and other gold category females will just be junior queens or just plain ol' gold category dragons. There can be an unlimited amount of those.

Idr why I didn't add the lunar heralds yet...but I'll do that in the next thread/spreadsheet update. I'll do one of those at a more reasonable hour since its like 2:41am here already.

e: Actually, something I've been wondering about for personal projects, since I've a soft spot for the whers: While the drakes would probably be pretty good for wher analogs, do we have the proper color selection for them? I feel like the Dayglories are too multicolor for proper golds, and maybe Ochredrakes might be too dull? Hmm.

I don't think we have a good selection for them just yet...BUT this new golden-scaled Drake egg is sooo promising <3 Fingers crossed it will work.

Gold: Honey Drake (!!!!)

Bronze: ??? Nothing's perfect, maybe Night Glory could fit here since its shinier than Howler Drakes

Brown: Howler Drakes, Night Glory Drake

Blue: Glaucus Drakes, Morphodrake(?)

Green: Greater Spotted Drakes

Hi there. I've got a couple of extra 2nd gen Almeralds from my already established pairings. Do I need to register them, too? (I already have some siblings registered here.)

Can I rejoin Telgar? I know I was the former weyr leader but I'd be happy to just have a Junior Queen instead. I'm going to completely restart my lines, they got messy after a while.

I think I will start with pygmies of my own until I can get an egg from the weyr leaders

As the new Weyrwoman/Weyrleader of Telgar I have no objections. In fact I'm VERY happy to have you. If you need any eggs, just ask and I'll try to get them.. and I hope you'll swap eggs with me for new blood.

These are the pairs I'm working with now..

I also have several eggs and hatchlings on my scroll now that were bred/captured for the Pern project, but if you need/want any of them, just ask. biggrin.gif

No drakes/whers yet @Guillotine.

To be honest, you guys are such fast breeders and have so many awesome pairings that the data entry is getting the best of me. I might have to set it up the way the SROGG thread works, where there's an "add your own" spreadsheet and that way I can run updates and move things into the main database a lot more efficiently.

An add your own system would be awesome, I'd certainly use it.. considering how many dragons I'm adding on a regular basis, lol.

I've been thinking about the whers for a while, but wasn't sure what I should suggest because some of the dragons that I thought would make good whers are already in use as dragons.

Then we got the new release and Honey Drakes and I started wondering if we had enough drakes to be whers. But I kept putting off looking at them until tonite for some reason. And we have plenty of drakes and they ALL could be whers.

Honey Drake – gold (senior)

Day Glory Drake – gold (junior)

Ochredrake – gold (junior)

Tarantula Hawk Drake – bronze

Night Glory Drake – brown

Howler Drake – brown

Glaucus Drake – blue

Morphodrake – blue

Greater Spotted Drake – green

We could even leave out the Day Glorys and Ocherdrakes and still have enough. Just my suggestion, but I think it could work. biggrin.gif

Actually, that's a GREEN father, so definitely NON-canon.

I just wanted to post an update on my status. Nothing really happened thus far on my scroll, as I got busy with the new release and preparations for the upcoming holiday breeding season.

The question whether I should register extra eggs from a pairing (of the same breed as the original baby) or not still remains, though.

Third... Will we add Azure Glacewings (blue) and maaaybe Fells (brown?) to the list of eligible breeds for this project?

Regarding Whers:

Do whers really have junior and senior queens? I mean, seriously? xd.png Or should we just use all golden drakes for the gold category - and leave it at that?

Also, the difference between bronze and brown is pretty much negligible for drake breeding, if you ask me.

Yep that one would be non-canon because the father's a green copper smile.gif

I'm gonna set up the Add Your Own system and update links here and front page. I'm so sorry, been swamped with real life sad.gif I need to submit my bar application asap and it's driving me crazy.

Yes, we will be adding new dragons into categories as they fit them.

Glacewing for the blues definitely.

Fells are wingless, so I'd like to keep them out for now.

As for drakes/whers, I personally don't see the need to add them in as a breeding option yet. It's literally like 5 of us interested in this lineage project right now and we have pleeenty of breeding options. I'd love to add them in down the road since the honey drakes make such perfect gold dragons, but it's just not necessary yet.
