Little Black fox

Recommended Posts

Inspired by the song Little Black Fox by Heather Dale.

Others can apply unless mage posts their sheet here.

In a Victorian England, a troublemaker has been hard at work. At first it was eggs and chickens, pheasants and other game foul, then it escalated. Pigs, sheep, goats, a cow or a horse. Linens, barely, wheat, corn, fruits and vegetables out of gardens and orchards. Soon even that became a chair off a porch, valuables from inside houses with unlocked doors and windows, wine and ale, even little children would disappear for a day then show up at home in the morning with fantastic tales of a black fox who turned into a man and giving them toys or sweets before playing games of hide and go seek or skip stones with them.

None believed the children, but the livestock was always seen with a black fox nipping at the heels leading them to the woods. Hunting parties came, but the fox outsmarted them all. Druids came and went in a huff. Knights set traps for both the thieves and the fox. Somehow they all went off but sat empty.

The village put out a reward for anyone who can kill the fox, and double to the person who can catch the thieves.

1)Magic is allowed but people are superstitious, so if witch, elf, fairy or something keep it hidden, cleric, healers, druids are well known and liked.

2)Obey rules for said race if chose. (I.e Fairies are harmed by iron)

3) let me be the only animal / human character in this please? Druids can turn into animals, but none with ears and tails while human!

4) lurkers and stalkers welcome but don't post please!

My character:

Name: Lucifer

Sex: Tod (male fox)

Approx. Age: 19-22

Race: Fox shifter

Personality: Troublesome, thief and tricky. Mischievous laid back, easy going. Once you earned his interest, he's observant and studious of your movements. Intelligent. (Typical fox things) He makes tools, so an inventor of sorts. Playful, childish at times, adventurous and daring but also knows when to proceed with caution. He's a gentleman... kinda and if your argument has a point in his eyes (or he gets stuck and can't say anything to defend his actions) he will stop his thievery..... sort of.

Appearance: Lucifer is 5'5" tall, fair skin with black markings over his body. These marks turn orange- except the ones on his ears, eyes and tail- when he turns into a fox. This fox appears like a regular black fox that looks like it got into some orange paint from afar but up closer one can see it is part of its fur. Intelligent light yellow green eyes, medium-long messy hair. He has a thin slender build, a lopsided mischievous grin on his lips and sharp k9s as a human.

Abilities: Shift from human to Fox at will. Can get into anything, locks that are complex are interesting to him and considers it a challenge of his locksmith skills. Quick witted and sly. Not much of a con artist, but he can trick himself out of bad situations sometimes. Amazing climber. Very minor rune illusion magic.

Animals: A Very large cat He calls silver.

Unique marks: All his marks and descriptions below the image.

Social status: outcast, criminal, thief, animal need I say more?

Other: his fox form is smaller then the cat. But the size of a normal red fox. The cat is a Turkish Angora (said to be the ancestors of the Maine coon)

((Fox image is the work of DarknessDragon197, I thank you many times over for it! Handsome little devil! smile.gif ))

Name: Xira Bane

Sex: Female

Approx. Age: 20

Race: Druid

Personality: Analytical, inquisitive yet adamant. Very strong-willed and will seek to fulfill her ambitions til the end. Once you get past her stubborn hardheadedness she's compassionate and gentle- never to hesitate to help those in need. Also lighthearted with a hint of a sarcastic edge. Always puts others before herself, loyal to her peers. Feels most at ease and contented when surrounded by forestry or other types of foliage. A slight flaw is that she can buckle fairly easily under pressure and can get anxious rather quickly when put in certain situations or conditions.

Appearance: Xira stands roughly at 5'2" with lengthy, coppery-brown colored hair that exceeds no further than the mid-back. The style has various layers and waves with long bangs swept to the right side of her face. Her gentle eyes are a warm, amber and depending on how the light strikes them, they can appear almost like gold. Has a rather petite frame of a body, skin tone a light olive.

Abilities: Communicates with animals and creatures of the like, charm and taming spell capabilities as well. Can heal wounds and injuries well enough to make it a profession. Even though she specializes with foliage and plant life, it takes a lot of energy to conjure spells to manipulate the earth and like elements around her- which she'll rarely ever do unless deemed necessary.

Animals: Golden eagle named Aster, her closest companion.

Unique marks: An intricate rune-like marking that rests just right below the collarbone.

Social status: Upper-middle class, veterinarian, healer.

Other Works as a healer or rather as a doctor for animals but from time to time she'll help aid humans if her services are demanded. Has an anxiety condition but is usually kept at bay by taking specific herbs and teas. Aster is like her eyes and ears of the sky, he helps to gather information, messages and even some goods from towns, villages and places of the like. He's very protective of Xira and won't hesitate to lash out at others for the sake of keeping her safe.

((Perfect!))

Lucifer lounged on a branch and snickered as he watch the latest hunter throw down his musket and swore up a storm. He kicked his last trap, that now lay unbaited, empty and the front end taken apart with the clamps gone so the snap cage was useless. The bait, a lovely chicken thigh, was given to silver who quite enjoyed the meal.

With a broad wicked grin on his face, Lucifer followed the man from a distance as he stalked to the village face red with fury. He shouted at the mayor that they better get the thieves before the fox because they broke every trap he had. He then proceeded to throw his baggage in the wagon and high tailed it out of there, turning to take the long road around his forest. His work was done for now. He laced his fingers together, cracked them and jumped down before trotting around the woods and came to a stream of water trickling down a large rock face to a stream.

He walked through a section of the rock and down a tunnel to a large cozy burrow that was furnished a little, had a small iron stove, and tunnels leading off the "living room". It was lit by candles and mirrors, the mirrors in the walls caught the sun and reflected it inside so he only used the candles at night.

Xira was working diligently in the comfort of her cottage home. One of the village folk's dogs strayed too far into the forest and thanks to the hunters, the poor thing snagged itself in a trap. The pup was brought in early this morning by a tear streaked boy who was in dismay that his little buddy was injured and because she was generous, she offered her services to him for free- despite his protests of offering a suitable payment.

So here she was, taking several custom shaped sticks and fixing them on each side of the animal's leg before wrapping it in thick, cotton cloth. The fabric was laced with a sticky glue like substance made from tree sap to make it a natural binding agent. A make-shift splint if you will. Stepping back she admired her work with gleaming eyes. The dog was no longer pained and could actually walk without reopening the wound by bending its leg. He barked a few times, tail wagging rapidly like a blade of grass in the wind. He was thankful. She gathered up a small jar of sap, extra cloth, and a few more of the sticks and placed it in a little sack bundle before walking the dog back out to the main room, where his owner was pacing anxiously to see his companion.

"He'll recover just fine. His wounds are tended to and should heal without issue." She smiled, handing the bundle to the boy. "Be sure to change his splint and bandaging if it gets dirty or damaged. Bring him back in about a week so I can do a check up, okay?"

"Yes ma'am, I can't thank nor repay you enough for your help. Have a blessed day!" He called as he left with his companion close at his side.

With the work finished she sank into her armchair and as she did so Aster glided silently through an open window, clearly his eager face ment he had news for her. The golden eagle perched onto the druid's shoulder as he began to fill her in on the town's calamity thus far. He told her of the outburst of the hunter and how he was left with not a single trap to his name. It amused her how no one could catch this mysterious fox, or the thieves that have targeted their beloved village. In all honesty, she's never seen nor had any trouble with either of them as of yet. Maybe if she had she'd take the situation more seriously than with a grain of salt.

An abrupt knock on the door interrupted both their conversation and her thoughts. Aster even ruffled his feathers in annoyance at the gesture. Heaving a sigh, Xira rose up to answer the door. It was the mayor.

"Xira Bane, your skills and prowess are demanded by order of the village. We're tasking you to find that wretched fox, since we've worn most of our reliable resources to do it. Hunters are without traps, knights give up the hunt and so on and so forth. But, I'm sure a druid such as yourself can at least find a trace of the creature. Besides, you haven't been brought to the task yet and I think its about time that you have." He casted an uneasy eye to the eagle then back to her. "Take leave when you're ready." And with that he was gone. He never did like Aster when he was around. Though just when she thought she'd spend her time at leisure until another request came by, she would now be employed in trying to find something that was practically uncatchable.

Lucifer stretched and limbered himself up, getting ready to catch a game hen kept in the mayor's back yard for tonight's dinner, and possibly steal some herbs and vegetables to go along with it. He snatched a cloth sack that was folded up and shifted sticking it between his teeth.

With this, he slunk down a different tunnel, and slipped into one smaller and darker one that lead off of the larger tunnel. This particular one was made by a rabbit who unfortunately was trying to dig an escape route right into it's own predator's den. Luckily for the fox, this rabbit had lived close to the village and it's entrance came out under a oak tree in the middle of a pasture.

Here was where the fox emerged and looked around at his surroundings before moving swiftly across the field under a couple fences and to the mayor's back yard where he set the sack down and went to work, creeping up on the game hen house and slipping inside from a lose board underneath. A commotion quickly occurred but Lucifer was victorious and dashed from the coupe to his sack and stuffed the bird in and wiggled under the fence dragging the burlap behind him.

The druid headed to her room to dress in a more appropriate attire for the occasion. Unlike most women, Xira was adventurous - a huntress and tamer. She had no need for flashy dresses or bold styles, much less a skirt. Her snug fitting clothes suit her needs just fine. She changed into a vest with close-fitting pants and boots, the colors alternating with earthen browns and greens, similar to that of the forest. A cloak draped over the outfit, adorned with a handcrafted bow that she slung over her shoulder along with a quiver of arrows. Though she'll probably never use it unless hostilities arise. Sometimes charms don't always work on larger creatures.

She gathered up a few remedies from a cabinet in the living space- small vials of elixirs, powders, herbal remedies and sorted them accordingly in little pouches that she fastened to her belt. "Better to keep things on hand just in case." She huffed, setting out. After locking down the cottage she called Aster to her side, the majestic bird patiently awaiting his orders. "Alright Aster, scout ahead and meet me at the woods. If you detect anything suspicious or even catch wind of the fox, don't lose sight of it." She stroked his soft feathers in encouragement and comfort before releasing him to the sky. He circled overhead for a brief moment before soaring further north, disappearing from sight. The woods weren't too far off from here, but when traveling on foot she hoped she to make it there around some hour of noon. But if she did manage to find the fox...what would she do? She couldn't kill it, certainly not, but she couldn't hand it over to the mayor either. He would rid of it in a heartbeat. Maybe she could just communicate with it and see if it will listen. There was just no way to know until she got there.

After quickly raiding a couple gardens, grabbing only what he intends to eat, he skilfully wrapped the drawstring of the bag around his arms and waist so it was on his back to scamper into the woods. He paused briefly when he heard a cry of an eagle and had to sit on his hunches to look up at the circling bird.

Huh, that type isn't around here. They got another hunter already? Ha those foolish humans! with that thought he made a Chuk chuk chuk sound like he was laughing and darted into the woods. He had to be careful not to rip the burlap sack, so he couldn't get through the brier patch to the hidden entrance, and he can't go directly to his front door, so he took the Hollow Log way. In all, he had a total of twenty entrances, that can be used as exists and only one lead directly to his living space.

That one was disguised as a rock face but the illusion wasn't always steady so he avoided it so it wouldn't be found. The other nineteen entries lead to a labyrinth of tunnels, mostly dead ends or have traps (also disguised but a bit more reliable for the tunnels are narrower) so it was easy for someone unfamiliar with the layout to get very lost very quickly.

The hollow log way slid its way down a hollow tree still standing, down to a tunnel big enough for a man to crawl on all fours through but it ends in a "dead end". Lucifer simply walked through his dirt wall illusion created by a string of runes painted around the tunnel. A few bends later he was emerging in a stone tunnel that contained his sleeping quarters, storage and "kitchen" with a larger iron stove that was vented through a natural crack in the rock that lead outside. It was here he prepared the bird for cooking.

By the time she reached the woods the sky was getting dimmer. Must be late noon she thought A gentle caw sounded in her ear as she turned to find her beloved companion resting on a low hanging branch. "How'd the search go buddy, find anything?" He hesitated, ruffling up his feathery down before speaking. "I tracked the fox like you said but, I lost him in the deeper wood. I'm sorry". She smiled, running a hand across his back before placing him on her shoulder. "You did good Aster, can't thank you enough. We'll travel together and see what we can find."

The further they traversed into the forestry, the more unstable walking became. Traps were littered haphazardly across the ground, some buried under thick foliage of leaves and brush, others were left out in plain sight. The majority were already triggered but if one wasn't wary, they could easily lose their footing to the straying steel jaws of misfortune that hadn't been tampered with. "Cursed hunters!" Xira swore under her breath as she used nearby twigs and rocks to snap shut the horrid devices that remained. "Have they no respect for the animals and life that run through here? All of this, for the sake of a fox?! Its no wonder the poor lad's hound was hurt." She huffed an irritated sigh, resting against a tree for a short rest. She turned to the eagle, pulling a piece of meat from one of the bundles and giving it to him. "If this fox is out here, I hope its safe. I'd hate to have another animal suffer a fate of falling into one of those again." Her head gestured to one of the empty traps. "Think it would be best to let the poor thing be..."

A low Merrr sounded and a large silver cat curled around her legs. Then it wandered ahead to a large half cliff rock with a stream trickling down and beside it. It sniffed at a wire snare trap with poisoned bait hidden in the shadows of a shrub. The animal knew better than to go near such bait, her owner having left bits of meat with chilli pepper seeds in them around the forest to teach her the hard way to not mess with food lying around on the ground. She only ate it if it comes directly from her owner or another human hand.

However Silver didn't understand the traps themselves. Although intelligent, she wasn't human. The teeth ones where scary( Lucifer tried to get those ones fast), she didn't like the cages (got stuck in a few), and nearly got stuck strangled by a wire one. However she wandered back to the human woman walking towards a more hidden snap trap by her favorite scratching tree, unaware of the potential danger.

The brush of movement had startled Xira but she instantly relaxed when she saw that it was just a cat. A pretty one she was. Her gaze followed the animal curiously as it inspected the terrain around it. It was amusing how the cat seemed to know not to tamper with certain things and devices. What caught the druid's eye however was a faint glimmering, an almost metallic like shine that could be seen from her perspective if focusing hard enough. But what made her heart sink, was that the feline, was completely oblivious to it. A trap.

Aster had screeched in alarm the moment the girl began to react, the sudden movement catching the golden avian off guard. Before the feline could step any further she scooped the fairly large cat up into her arms, petting her gently to reassure that no harm was to be done. "Tread carefully little one, some things lie just beyond what the eye can see." To show what she had ment she set the animal down before cautiously and gingerly disabling the trap, showing just how easily and close the feline was to being captured by it.

"Judging by the looks of it that should be all of them, least in this area. So you should be free to wander as you please."

Silver howled when scooped up all the sudden and jumped when she disabled the trap arching her back and hissing at it. Bad men leave these for master she growls and batted the air above it with her paw. Bad man make master angry. it was at this point a dark green cloaked figure appeared out of the shadows. Upon hearing the snap and the yowl, Lucifer had rushed out to check on his cat.

Concern was written on his face, ears and tail hidden by the cloak, having herd a voice near his home. He dived forward, snagged the startled feline and took three steps away from the woman holding his precious pet close to him. "Did she get hurt?" He asked hesitantly. He can tell a druid by their smell, mostly it involved a herbal, or earthy scent. Lucifer also knew better than to accuse her of trying to harm Silver, for druids respected all creatures and would never intentionally harm one.

He's met a few before they always met him as a fox, spoke with him, got upset when he refused or tricked them into leaving and letting him stay. His hand both searched for a wound and sought comfort within his companion's thick soft fur. "Blasted hunters.."

"They leave these...for your master?" Though she hadn't expected an answer when a concealed figured appeared almost instantly to seize the feline. But what ever it was about this being, Aster was not happy. The golden eagle immediately flew to the druid's side on his rightful perch, eyes staring down at the stranger as if they could not be trusted. Even his feathers rustled with discontent. But to her surprise, he stayed silent. "No she's not hurt, thank goodness. But if she does have any injuries I wouldn't mind mending them for you."

She hadn't recalled meeting this stranger, well man, before. His voice wasn't of one that she knew and from what she could tell and see, he wasn't from the village either. "I tried to disable as many of these terrible things as I could on my way here." Xira gave a dry chuckle, it was far from a humorous one. "Its sad that they send so much pain just for the mere sake of a fox hunt that's practically endless. Why can't they just let it be?" It was almost if she asked herself that question, she couldn't fathom as to why they would want to rid of such a creature. It was only trying to survive, even if that ment stealing livestock or even a few scraps of food here and there. But stealing wasn't wise either.

Lucifer's lip curled up in disgust. "They won't let it be, they take its prey for sport and hunt it because it takes a few chickens to feed itself. Then they higher professionals who want the mound of gold they were promised so they leave these things everywhere..... People are disgustingly narcissistic. All about them and their problems. They didn't think about what they are doing to nature. It's none of their concern...Ow!" Silver bit him when he checked her paws. "She has a nasty scratch on her paw, it must've been when you grabbed her. I swear they sharpen those teeth." He huffed.

His green yellow eyes fixed on the bird. So this was the druid they got this time. "Follow me.." He turned around and went passed the rock to a deeper thicker more treacherous part of the wood. He wove through the trees till they came to a huge clearing with a river running into a small lake, a run down two story home, and a barn far off looking a bit better then the home was in a field with a few cattle two horses and a small flock of sheep.

He stepped in the home, that looked better inside then out. It was sparsely furnished, mostly old and moth eaten things with a few new ones that didn't match the rest of the dacór. There was no knicknacks no paintings on the walls, just simple living. This was Lucifer's second home, a more winter one so he doesn't get stuck underground when it freezes and snows.

He set Silver on the tiny table ment for one, so the druid can look at her paw. "Back left one. " He said softly.

Xira nodded as she listened intently to his words. So he did know of the fox. "You sound rather passionate about the animal. You must care deeply for the creature." Her soft amber eyes gazed to the injured paw, seeing that she had work to do. "Wouldn't surprise me if they did. A boy's dog was caught in one earlier this day, luckily it wasn't severe."

Aster formed a low growl-like cawing sound from deep within the throat, but was instantly silenced when Xira casted him a hard glance as they proceeded to follow the male. I don't like him Xira, there's something off about that lad. Do you really want to invest your trust in him? "So far I sense no wrong with him, but I'll keep your opinion in mind. Just try to keep your suspicions down until we're done here. Okay?" His grumbled fine was enough for her. He did have quite an attitude at times. But when they arrived at the clearing she was rather pleased with what she saw- despite the condition of the home. It was tranquil, quiet.

"Rather homely here, not bad." She commented as he guided her to a table to look at the feline. She had told her companion beforehand to wait outside while she was working with the duo. Turning to the cat's injury she gave a small sigh. It was quite a good cut not too bad however, but was deep enough to need attention. "Yeah, looks like it got her but nothing that can't be fixed. Had it of gone any further well, a healing spell would have to suffice" From her belt the druid pulled a bundled up sack that was fairly larger than the others. The contents inside ranged from cloths, salves to even herbal remedies and other healing assortments. She retrieved a small vial of purified water in which she dampened one of the cloth rags with and set to work.

"This might hurt a bit dear, but I'll be putting a natural healing salve on it afterwards to ease the stinging." She spoke softly as she gently began to cleanse the wound, occasionally petting Silver's silky fur to calm her nerves. She glanced to Lucifer then back to her task. "Might I inquire as to what your names are?" Gingerly the salve was applied and as soon as the creamy substance was set Xira took the remaining bandaging to wrap the wounded paw. Stepping back the druid gave a contented nod then walked over to the male and placed a small vial in his hand. "Apply this twice a day to ensure that its healing properly without infections. And these-" she handed him a few seeds. "Are for pain. Walking or constant movement on the paw could make it a little sore and maybe hurt a bit. You can give her one every so often to ease the pain."

On her statement about the creature, he remained silent. Of course he was passionate about it he was the fox, and it was his life they were endangering. He kept his cloak on inside the home but inclined his chin at her homely comment about this place. "Just a temporary home. It was abandoned. I just fixed it up a bit." He said softly standing aside and watching her work with intense eyes.

Flinching when his only friend and company let lose a low uncomfortable growl. "Silver. Her name is silver. As for mine, it is Lucifer. " He watched her reaction to his name closely. Most run away from him believing he's the devil himself. Other take a more cautious approach, unsure if he's the real thing and keep their hands on their weapons in case he was a killer.

He blinked when she gave him instructions and held out the materials to use for the wound. He took them carefully, his fingernails longer than a human's, thicker and sharper too. He took the vial and the seeds sticking them into his pocket and setting his cat down. She shook her back leg, unused to the wrapping and hobbled around the home. "Thank you for doing this for her. I don't like seeing my pet hurt."

"Lucifer." The druid echoed, her eyes studying him, amber gaze holding his yellowish-green one. "A most...peculiar name." Maybe this is why Aster was so uneasy. He couldn't bring harm, could he? Snapping from her thoughts she gave a small smile, taking a mental note of his nails. Never once has she seen anyone with ones as sharp and distinct such as his. But she thought to not question it otherwise. "Its no trouble at all, the warmest of welcomes. I know if my Aster was hurt I'd want someone to help too." Speaking of the devil she turned back to him and gave a sigh. "And I'm terribly sorry about his behavior. He doesn't normally react so coldly to strangers."

Watching Silver leave Xira too began to wander about slowly. "So..." She started. "What exactly were you two doing out in the woods at this time, especially with the hazards and dangers that hunters can present. Seemed to be quite a ways from here by the looks of it." It probably wasn't best to pry in such a way but she was curious. Not just about their whereabouts in the woodlands, but about him as well. He gave off a mysterious aura, something that seemed strangely different to that of a human almost but she couldn't quite put it into words.

Lucifer leaned against a wall folding his arms. His black tattoo like markings showed on his bear arms. "As I said, this house is temporary. We live in a cave during the summer months. It's cooler easier to access. It's around that area. I'm not saying where it is." He said lowly.

"Your bird has good intuition. I wouldn't trust myself either. " He narrowed his eyes at her. "You the new druid they got to chase away the fox? It's futile. He's not gonna move anywhere. It's those people who are going to have to move if they keep up their building and hysterics..." he muttered roughly.

His fur stood on end. She was treading on eggs shells here. She should watch her questions and he'd guard his answers.

Xira paused her movements, his sudden tone change capturing her attention completely. "And why is it, that you can't be trusted?" Her voice was even as she turned to face him. She could almost feel the distaste seeping from his gaze. "Whether I am or not doesn't matter, regardless if its futile. Unlike most of my kin I don't give up as easily when things are looking bleak." She took several steps towards him. "And unlike most that have traversed through these woods I have no intentions to kill or even run off the fox. So don't start making assumptions about what I am to do."

The druid stepped aside and leaned against the wall for a brief moment to catch her breath. The sudden outburst had made her tense, pulse a bit too rapid for her liking and if she didn't get it under control, she could risk an anxiety attack in the near future. "If you're so sure on the behalf of the creature, then help me." She spoke quietly. "I want to know why the fox takes from the town folk, for its sake...How can I help something if I know little to nothing of it?"

He held out a pouch from her belt. It still had it's proper contents in it. "I'm compulsive. You must be in town, you carry no travel funds with you." He said simply. He lowered his hand and stuffed both of them in his pockets.

"He takes from the town because people take from his wood. It's obvious this whole valley used to be his territory some of those homes are around twenty years old. He's been here longer than they have. How would you feel if someone waltzes in, takes your food demolishing some of your home and ripped up your land? When it was oh, four or five houses spread apart from each other he probably didn't mind. The killed the coyotes, chased off the prairie wolves and let the fox or their dogs chase the varmints away. Now come winter, he struggles to find food. I see the people gather wild berries, and hunt rabbits, ducks, quail, voles and marmmets. They don't limit themselves and the population has dropped. Get them to limit themselves and he might just let them be."

She eyed the pouch with a stunned expression. She never saw him take it. The action reminded her...almost like the swiftness of a thief. "Fair enough. And you're right, I don't carry currency on me. Only time I do is if I have intended use for it, other than that it gets left at home."

"When you put it that way, I too would be devastated and furious if someone did that to me. I had no idea that they were over stepping their boundaries, much less taking more than what they needed. But...I doubt they'd listen to me, even if I pleaded." She sighed closing her eyes as she rubbed the temples of her head. To attempt to please both sides surely was stressful, and if the town knew that she was going to help out the fox well- they'd probably punish her for it. "Listen Lucifer, I'm willing to drop off or offer supplies to keep the fox well and at least fed because I can't just persuade a town overnight, much less to get them to listen to a mere druid such as myself. And I can't just let an animal be starved and pained because of the actions of others. But, I'm willing to talk to the mayor and see if something can be arranged." She paused, opening her eyes to cast him a glance. "Out of everyone in town, how do you know so much about it, the fox?"

Leaving him food? That was a first. "There's a little girl who always has a pink bow in her hair. Ask her about the fox." He said simply. "I've seen him around." He smirked. "Handsome creature he is. Been here about as long as he was. He's a intelligent one that's for sure..." He chuckled.

He moved from the kitchen to the living room, sitting on a faded chair and adjusting his cloak around him. "One gets to understand creatures that are of nature when they spend a while in one place." He said with a sigh.

Gladly noted, thanks." She gave a small smile. "Oh have you now? Maybe someday I'll get a chance to see the handsome fellow as you call him. Definitely sounds quick witted from all the stunts he's pulled, I give em credit for that."

She began to follow him a short ways before barely stopping in the living room. "True. I don't think I've been here long enough to know just what all nature has to provide here. Even as a druid, I still have much to learn." Xira thought he appeared to be exhausted, or least a bit drained from when she had first encountered him. Hopefully she wasn't causing him too much stress. "If you'd want me to take leave I can, if I'm causing you trouble....though I wouldn't mind keeping you some company if it was wished of." I know it can be a bit lonesome with being just with your companion. The girl thought, but never muttered aloud for his ears to hear. Don't get her wrong, she loved Aster's company more than anything else but to be honest, she never really had anyone else to call a friend. Surly she would socialize with plenty of people, but none really stuck around long enough to get close to.

"I have my supper cooking, and I would invite you over but it's only intended for one. Perhaps another time. It gets a little lonesome. Unlike you I can't exactly communicate with Silver like you do with that bird. " He reclined his head "this is the first time I've been able to sit down today so I'm quite exhausted to even play host. I hope you don't mind that I ask for your leave. I can walk you to the end of the wood, but that's as far as I'd go."

He got up and yawned forgetting to cover his mouth to hide his fangs. It went quick though, like a dog's yawn. He walked to the door and waved her out, picked up his cat and carried the feline with him as he guided her out of the traitorous forest where the house was and on to a deer path that wound safety out of the calmer wood.

"I understand Lucifer, I appreciate my stay for as long as it was. Maybe some time I'll help you with that- communicating that is. Its something else, being able to talk to them." She just happened to be staring in his general direction when he yawned. Were those...fangs? No no, she must've imagined it, it just wasn't possible. Besides, she was getting rather fatigued. Mind must be tricking her.

She followed suit, scanning the sky for sight of her companion but to her surprise, he was no where in sight. Odd. However the serene terrain that they were traversing on was much more pleasant than the more rugged, trap riddled one back by the thicker wood. It was nice, and certainly presented her a new way of getting through these parts. "If there's a certain time that you'd like for me to bring the supplies around let me know. I can work my schedule around the drop offs." As they were coming to the wood's end she stopped, her amber eyes staring out across the clearing made for the bustling travelers of the village."If you ever want to stop by at your leisure you are free to do so. My services will always be available should you ever require them again." She shot him a sideways glance. "I'm sure you'll know where to find me."

"Early morning or late dusk is possibly the best time for supplies to be dropped off. " He said softly. "Your bird probably knows where he lost the fox. I saw him circling earlier today. Drop the supplies there. No tricks now. He might not come if he feels it's dangerous. "

At her last statement he nodded. "Indeed. You'll be easy to locate. I'll keep that in mind. I leave you here. Good night... um.. I don't believe you have told me your name?"
