Posted August 13, 2016 (edited) Username: Coryn02 Name: Jocelyn Lemoine, Ankou Age: Roughly 700 (Physical age: 19) Gender: Genderless (preferred form is female) Sexuality: Heterosexual History: The Ankou is an local personification of death originating in parts of France and Britain. Though its origins vary depending upon the myth, a common interpretation is that the first person to die in a year becomes the Ankou until the next, ferrying the dead to the afterlife. Jocelyn was originally born to an aristocratic family in 13th-century France. While she was a bright and pretty girl in her youth, that very quickly did not matter when a sickness the likes of which the world had never seen wiped out what was, to her at least, half the human race. After dying but retaining awareness, she started to experiment with her new powers, until realizing the purpose of her choosing. But after a year of helping lost souls find their way, no replacement arrived to allow her the rest she now gave the deceased. Now that humanity's numbers have skyrocketed after a few massive hits, her job has become much more difficult. With the Ancients returning, of course, that may change very fast. Looks: Jocelyn has a stocky build of about 158 centimeters in height. She has sort-cropped black hair, a Caucasian skin tone, and a red birthmark behind her left ear. Jocelyn highly prefers dark clothing, wearing a wide-brimmed hat and long coat over her gray dress. The Ankou is a hideous creature, resembling a desiccated corpse beneath its tattered cloak and wide-brimmed hat (the same sort Jocelyn wears, though with a much wider brim). It is missing its eyes, teeth, and nose, but has some long white hair. Its eye sockets are illuminated by an unearthly light. Weapons: The Ankou wields a harvest scythe, though it sees more use in the reaping of souls than it does in direct combat. That said, it has had centuries of practice, and can hold its own quite well against those who think they can fight death. It is nearly impossible for other entities to wield (manifested as an extraordinary lack of balance when holding the weapon) and is quite difficult to destroy. It also lacks the capability to kill when not held by Jocelyn herself. Abilities: Transformation - Jocelyn can alter her physical appearance to her Ankou form, and further to a variety of other forms to better approach the dying (such as fog, a flock of ravens, etc). Her Ankou form will make her powerful enough to take on gods. She can also take the shape of any of her victims, so long as they remain dead. Reaping - Jocelyn can instantly kill any mortal creature (the regular kind, like animals and most humans). While not required, she generally does this through physical contact or her scythe. The cause of death will not be apparent if the corpse is examined. Enduring Nature - As an entity responsible for the transport of souls to the afterlife, Jocelyn herself is nearly immune to death. She cannot become ill, grow old, or be injured by most mundane harms. She can also recover from severe trauma within a fraction of the time required of a normal human, given the situation. This extends to the mind as well as the body, being physically more capable than any normal human being. Psychopomp - Being a guide between the living and dead, Jocelyn is capable of entering the afterlife freely and bringing someone with her. She is unable to bring someone back through to the world of the living, even if they are not dead. Servitude - Jocelyn can extend a portion of her abilities to a human being through a telepathic link, which also permits her to use the senses of that person and remotely control their actions. While free will is not a requirement, those who have negotiated with her may use her power to kill with her consent. Unless lifted early by Jocelyn herself, any person under these effects will die after 24 hours. The bond will not kill or affect monsters or Ancients without their consent. Alliances: Death is not well-liked but any allies the Ankou may have would be anyone who respects the need for balance between life and death. Jocelyn herself also has much respect for other psychopomps, though they seldom encounter one another. Given our characters, Arianrhod and Death would be most likely to befriend her. Humans are generally neutral ground at first. Enemies: While life and death balance one another out, anyone who seeks to eliminate death or kill everything indiscriminately will not get along with Jocelyn (trickster deities and the Four Horsemen, Death excluded). Posted August 15, 2016 (edited) Username: Epyon Name: Jonathan Cortez, Ra] Age: 24 Gender: Male Sexuality: Demisexual, heteroromantic History: Jonathan has a good life for twenty-four year old. Having graduating from UCLA with a degree in Radiology, life has been very good to him after securing a job in John Hopkins. His parents were retired and he was an only child so he didn't need to worry about much. Jonathan was an active boy growing up, having played football, soccer, and wrestled on more than one occasion. While some would take him for a stereotypical jock, those who were good friends with him knew the truth. Jonathan could either be your best friend or your worst nightmare, but while he wears the starched white coat, he could possibly be God Himself. Ra is the Ancient Egyptian Sun God. Often considered as the King of Gods and the patron of Pharoahs. Generally associated with the noon sun, Ra had great influence in Egyptian life and religion and in later years was merged with Horus to form the composite god Ra-Horakhty, "Ra, who is Horus of the two horizons." In this form, he is said to rule over all parts of the created world: The sky, the earth and the underworld. He is associated with the falcon or hawk, and sometimes is represented by the phoenix. He is in constant combat with Apophis at night for control of the Underworld but usually prevails to return the sun to the world. While in the Underworld, Ra merges with Osiris to become god of the dead. Looks: Jonathan has short jet-black hair that he keeps meticulously groomed and dark brown eyes that seem to peer into one's soul at the first chance it gets. He has a milk chocolate colored complexion thanks to his heritage but also because whenever he's not in the office, he's outside playing soccer with the local club. At a height of 5' 11" he's on the tall side for a man of Latino heritage. He's built like a tank with strong, toned limbs, and a stronger, muscled core to make no mention of broad shoulders and a broad chest. He has a pronounced brow that somewhat resembles a crown and a face that always has a smirk. For dress he prefers polo shirts and jeans with sneakers but he doesn't mind wearing a suit every once in a while. Weapons: A sickle made from Ra's Talons. Abilities: Positive Absorption: If there is sufficient positive energy (i.e. happiness, hope, trust) in the area, then Jonathon can absorb it and use it as strength or as an energy reserve. A good way for this reserve to be used is when he's tiring, as it will be able to rejuvenate him when needed. Shape shift: As Ra is represented so could Jonathan morph into. Jonathan can change into two birds of prey. A simple Golden Eagle that weighs 6.35 kg (14.0 lbs) with the inherent strengths and weaknesses for the breed, and for his Godly form, he can turn into the venerable Phoenix. Though the exact size of the phoenix is disputed by mortals, the phoenix that Jonathon turns into is larger than an ostrich at 9' 5". The phoenix has scaled legs the color of gold with red talons and the plumage is a deep crimson and gold color. The eyes are the color of a dark sapphire. Call of the Pantheon: Since all dieties of the Egyptian pantheon has some aspect of Ra within them, Ra has the ability to use their powers as his own for a limited amount of time. Eye of Ra: This ability enables Ra to find the source of corruption and evil and to deal with it accordingly. Light Manipulation: This allows Jonathon the ability to bend and manipulate the sun's light to his needs. Be it a barrier, a weapon, or a way to travel, or something as simple as producing a blinding flash of light. While this may tire him, it will not tire him as much nor as quickly. His imagination and creative ability are the only limits on what he may do with the light. The downside to this is that it will cause him to grow very hot so he can use it only as long as he can tolerate the heat, however, because of this, he has a limited ability to control the temperature of the surrounding area. Order Manipulation: Jonathon has the ability to be the focal point for order when there is general disorganization around him. An example is that fear and panic would be substituted with determination and hope. The more chaos he needs to counter, the more exhausted he'll become. Pharoah's Call to Arms: This ability allows Ra to call upon the fallen warriors of Ancient Egypt to fight against his foes with the power of the sun for a limited time. This time is dependent on the sun. If he calls them during noon, the warriors can fight for longer and fight stronger. Fire Rejuvenation: When Ra is wounded, the flames of a fire can heal him quickly. However, the fire cannot be of his own making. In addition, the healing process has the ability to protect him using beams of light and heat from the healing wound, though the process still causes minor discomfort. Jonathon's benefit from this is that he's not as bothered by fire. However, Greek Fire can still cause some amount of harm. Paralyzation counters: Ra can use a short, blinding flash of light that restores mobility. For those paralyzed through mundane means (i.e. car accident, disease, etc), mobility is restored for no less than four minutes to as much as four hours. He can also make eye contact with someone to release them or something as simple as touching their face. Alliances: Most of the Egyptian pantheon, notably Osiris, Ma'at, Sekhmet, Set, and Horus. Enemies:Apep (Apophis) and any agents or gods of discord and chaos. Other: Edited August 15, 2016 by Epyon Share this post Link to post

Posted August 15, 2016 I'm pulling this out of the original OOC thread so, if any of it wants to be changed, it can be discussed Re: Symptoms the Godlings experience over time. Symptoms (in progression): Stage One: • headache • low fever • nausea • higher fever • flashbacks • migraine Stage Two: • blackouts • dissociation (as in, the previous God takes over for a period of time) • Irratic actions unlike the afflicted (see above) • surfacing of previous God Stage Three (leads to death, if it reaches this stage): • Fever above 103, leading to organ failure • A mental battle ensues between both Versions of the God • If resolved, the victor takes over. • if unresolved, the body will die of spontaneous organ failure. Posted August 15, 2016 (edited) Username: Shiny Hazard Sign Name: Silvana Age: Nearly two thousand years Gender: Female Sexuality: Pansexual, homoromantic History: Silvana is a unicorn born directly from the forest god Cernnunos. As humans began to encroach more into the forests, he blessed the offspring of the white stag and the goddess Epona. Silvana was born as midnight black and speckled like the night sky. She was taken at birth by Cernunnos and raised as his child with Epona's blessing, and as an adult she became a stunning silver color that rivaled the moon in beauty. A long, tightly spiraled ebony horn encrusted with quartz crystal adorned her forehead. With it she fended off hunters from her forest, either by challenging them directly or growing vegetation in a maze that left them lost or led them back to where they started. Her forest never changed seasons, nor suffered disease, and the only death that occurred was pleasant and painless as each soul was shepherded from life by Cernunnos, the Lord of Death. Silvana was with them every step of the way. However, as time dragged on, the humans increased in numbers and intelligence. Silvana's forest was considered a sacred place, for the waters could combat any poison or venom and the herbs could break any fever. If a human was pure enough of heart, Cernnunos allowed them into the forest and Silvana would judge their intentions to see if they were honest and honorable enough to receive her blessing. If any were unworthy or a danger to her forest, Silvana usually killed them or wounded them enough to ensure they did not return. This carried on for hundreds of years until the greed of those barred from entering grew so immense that they began to carry out attacks on the forest itself. Silvana fought them and drove them off, but the humans were tricky; with an injured young maiden, they lured Silvana from the protection of her forest and caught her with an enchanted rope just as she realized their deception. Cernunnos sent wild animals to thwart the humans, but the further from the wilderness they dragged her, the less power he had to save her. Silvana was imprisoned by a King for several long years, forced to keep him healthy and youthful to continue his reign. Unicorns are not spineless beasts, however; she waited her turn until one evening, the King grew careless and entered her magicked pen alone, thinking her to be a demure and gentle creature after so long. She stabbed him through the heart without a second of hesitation. Silvana escaped through the open pen door, and with the help of the animals returned back to her forest. Much to her dismay, Silvana found her old forest dying and thin, supporting sparse vegetation and only the hardiest of living creatures. Cernunnos had moved on in her absence, deeper into a forest where no man could follow him. It took her nearly a hundred years to find him again. When she did, he bestowed upon her a final gift: a human body in which she could use to escape the clutches of humanity should she ever find herself in danger of captivity again, but also so she could visit the world and heal the dying forests where man had trampled through. Looks: As a human, Silvana reaches just under six feet in height. Her body is willowy and long, and she moves with such elegance that it often seems inhuman. Her hair is thick and curls naturally down to her ribcage in glossy black rivets. If any regular human had the same ghastly pale skin color, they might have looked ill with such a deathly pallor, but Silvana's inner magic gives her a youthful and lively appearance despite the near-gray hue to her white skin. She has no blemishes except for the golden birthmark in the center of her forehead that resembles a four-pointed star. Her eyes are a startling moss green with a ring of dark blue along the outer edge of the irises. She typically wears flowy garments that give her more range of motion, thus very rarely is she ever seen in pants or tight-fitting clothing. As a unicorn, she reaches a horse size of seventeen hands. Her body resembles a horse more in structure, though her eyes are large and round like that of a doe, and her limbs are lankier and her body more slender than a standard mare. Her mane falls in thick dark waves similar to her hair as a human, and her hooves are feathered in similar curling hair. Her tail is structured like a lion's: long and whip-like, with a tuft of curling black hair at the tip. The color of her coat has changed since birth; from black, to a stunning silver, to somewhere in between as a tarnished silver dapple. Her horn has remained a shining obsidian encased in glassy quartz. Weapons: As a human, she wields double swords. Otherwise her horn and hooves serve her just fine. Abilities: Spirit of the Forest: As the spirit of the forest, any woodland that Silvana inhabits slowly begins to regenerate until full health. Seasons slow and pathogens are neutralized. Any body of water she crosses becomes drinkable and pure again. Any forest animals that inhabit the forest become fertile and healthy. This is not an instantaneous effect; though her presence does speed the growth of the flora and fauna immediately, it would still take a decimated forest several years to return to its former glory. Animals who are too far gone in health to be fully recovered are instead led to a painless death to help fertilize the earth. She can also communicate with animals, and seems to dampen predatory instincts when in her direct presence. Immunity: She cannot fall ill nor be poisoned by any means. Death's Reins: She can and will lead any of pure heart and soul into the realm of the Dead as s spirit guide and protector. She will not aid any of those who are tainted by darkness. Purifying Touch: With the touch of her horn, she can render any water drinkable. Such water even promotes increased health and energy. Her horn can also heal sickness of any sort in a person with a pure soul. She cannot heal an actual soul, however, should it be touched by darkness and evil. Judgement: She can see into the souls of man and determine if they harbor ill will or hatred. Likewise, she can also sense good hearts and good will. Alliances: Cernnunos, Epona, Herne, the Green Man, Pan, Rhiannon, Hades, Demeter, Persephone. Most any God who serves the forest and its children or gods of Death and life cycles. Enemies: Humans. Zeus is also a bit of a pain in her ass. Other: *inserts unicorn emoji from apple here* Edited August 15, 2016 by Shiny Hazard Sign Share this post Link to post

Posted August 20, 2016 (edited) Username: radicalDichotomy Name: Merula 'Siodhachan' Weaver/The Morrígan Age: 24 Gender: Female Sexuality: ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)/ History: Her middle name was originally going to be her first name. Then her parents found out when she was born that she wasn't male. Merula actually grew up with a fairly normal life, though her hobbies were a bit odd-- she found a dead and decomposed bird when she was five and ran away. She came back with a chain, took the skull, and made a necklace out of it. Merula would likely be called beautiful, if not for her overwhelming preoccupation with dead things and making them dead. She told her dad she wanted to learn to fight like a knight when she was eight. By the time she was nine, she was learning HEMA(Historical European Martial Arts) and boxing. Then she discovered the internet. She spent her teenage years punching things and trolling mythology forums(Ogma could so totally take Thor, she argues to this day). Eventually, she got a job as a mortician, finally making a job out of her somewhat worrying attraction to dead things. Her reaction to finding out she's the Morrígan will likely be something like 'nice.' She has a side job as a writer of purposefully terribly written stories of questionable work-safety for comedy purposes. She blogs it. The Morrígan(the singular version, not the trinity as they're sometimes displayed) is the Irish goddess of many things. War, the Chooser of The Slain(essentially, the Grim Reaper on the battlefield), Fertility, Sovereignty, and Divination. She often takes the form of a Raven, but has also been seen as an eel, a bull, or, most commonly besides the raven, a big ol' wolf. Looks: Merula would likely considered to be very attractive. Tall(very), full-figured(hecka)-- just a shame she's so goshdang weird. Short black hair, skin so pale she's often asked if she's sick, and probably abs of steel. Eyes as black as the night sky, plus light pollution and a new moon so there's no stars. What I'm getting at is that her eyes are hecka black. Weapons: Prefers knives, European swords of any kind, blunt objects like a mace, or her fists. Or a banjo. But that was one time. Abilities: Very skilled warrior. As the Goddess, she's the Chooser of the Slain. Fighting her is a bad idea. Terrible, even. She can shapeshift. Sometimes her eyes glow red and her voice takes on enough minor harmonics to make most crap their pants. Really skilled at divination. Probably an excellent seductress just as long as you don't remember that when she's a bird, she eats dead things. Alliances: Merula is nice to everyone. Other people assume they are allied with the Morrígan. The Morrígan sees them as their usefulness outweighing their annoyance. You are not friends with the Morrígan. You are useful to her and also eventually food. Merula likes you, though. :> Enemies:As Merula, not many, because she's nice if weird. As The Morrígan, not many, because they're all dead. Other: She takes her coffee black. Anything else is a perversion. Don't talk to her about Kiwis. Also, don't tell anyone, but she can shred on banjo. Her official title is not Morrígan. It is The Morrígan. She is very strict about this. Edited August 20, 2016 by radicalDichotomy Share this post Link to post

Posted August 21, 2016 Because once is not enough, apparently. Username: Coryn02 Name: Ludwig Age: Approximately 400 years Gender: Male Sexuality: Asexual History: A Prussian nobleman used ancient texts to try and replicate the experiment of creating an artificial human being, with the goal of making what he believed to be the most pure individual possible. Unlike those who had tried before him, he succeeded. The homunculus was shut away from humans by its creator within his vast manor, and he began educating it in the high arts and sciences. The isolationist attitude the nobleman had adopted did not sit well with his entourage, who were unaware of the homunculus' existence. When its education was deemed unable to progress further at the manor, the two friends reluctantly parted ways. Since then, Ludwig has traveled the globe searching for knowledge, avoiding danger using only his sharpened wits and mechanical skill. Looks: Ludwig looks like a very small human being, being only about 70 centimeters tall. He is wearing patchwork hand-woven clothing in rustic colors; he walks barefoot. His hands and the soles of his feet are worn due to decades of use. Ludwig has very pale skin, red irises, and very little body hair (he is also bald). His expression is usually one of general curiosity. He carries a burlap sack containing written notes, spare parts, and any food he can find. Weapons: Being physically weak, Ludwig carries no weapons in the traditional sense, instead relying on any ways to stall for time or subdue his foes without violence to then escape. Abilities: Longevity - Ludwig, as a homunculus, cannot die a natural death, though he will age. As a smaller version of a human being, he also requires only a small amount of food to keep himself from starving. However, starvation will not kill him, and he is also resistant to most human diseases. Inventiveness - Being gifted with a supernatural mind, Ludwig is capable of creating devices with a variety of potential uses in mere moments that would take others much longer. Vast Intellect - Ludwig has memorized hundreds of thousands of documents across his vast lifetime, being able to recollect even the slightest details from decades ago. He can also use and understand a multitude of written and spoken languages (including some extinct tongues), is skilled at code-breaking, and has tremendous mental fortitude. Alliances: Fellow intellectuals, other homunculi, those who value knowledge for its own sake Enemies: Potential captors, weaponsmiths, those who seek to destroy knowledge Other: :/ Share this post Link to post

Posted August 23, 2016 (edited) Username: GGG Name: Evelyn Chen, Nuwa Age: 18 Gender: Female Sexuality: Demisexual/demiromantic History: Up until now, Evelyn's had a pretty standard life. A good student, she consistently kept her grades up (in part due to pressure from her parents). In order to pursue her passion for working with cameras, she joined her school's photo and video clubs, becoming a fairly prominent member of both. Due to her constant studying and preference for blending into the background, she only has a couple of close friends. Nuwa is the Chinese mother goddess who is said to have existed at the beginning of the Earth. She is best known for creating the first humans out of mud and repairing the heavens after they collapsed in a divine fight. Later myths restyle her as a goddess of marriage alongside her husband/brother Fuxi. She is depicted as either a woman, a half snake, half woman, or a snake with a woman's head. Looks: Evelyn has shoulder length black hair curled in a bob cut and deep brown eyes. She's got a fairly average build, standing at 1.68m (around 5'5"). While not muscular, she is fairly fit from frequent hikes and walks. She is nearsighted, and wears contacts. Weapons: A jian sword or a staff. Abilities: >Shapeshifting: Evelyn can shape-shift into two main forms. One is a pretty cuddly sunbeam snake about 90cm (roughly 35 in) long. The other is a much larger serpent at about 9m (almost 10 yards) long. Its scales are an iridescent red with a cream belly (think rainbow boa minus the spots). It has fleshy horns, golden eyes, and a slightly finned tail tip, giving it a draconic appearance. She can grow her form even bigger at the cost of more energy, though she'll pass out and turn back into a human if she overexerts herself. She can also transform herself halfway, replacing her lower body with a snake tail. >Sculpting: The earth can soften at Evelyn's touch, allowing her to freely mold it into whatever she wants. Pliable soils like clay and mud work the best, though stone can be molded with a bit of effort. She hates working with dry soils like sand, since they tend to crumble. >Animation: Evelyn can temporarily give life to her sculptures and have them do her bidding. The more she animates at a time, the harder it is for her to maintain. She doesn't really have to properly sculpt a form out to animate it--so long as she has directly touched it, she can have it form on its own. Still, hand-sculpted figures generally function better than her rush jobs. >Mending: With the power of earthbending yet again, Evelyn can patch up pretty much any hole. When it comes to living tissue, her power works more like a bandaid as she is able to seal up wounds, but not able to heal the cells or reduce any pain. Alliances: Fuxi Enemies: None Other: (•̀ᴗ•́)و ̑̑ Is this okay? Not too sure if Eve's shapeshifting ability is too close to Liam's.
