Sarah saw a huge rock, that looked like a ramp. She ran at full speed, and jumped gracefully off it, landing smoothly. She noticed she stepped into something wet, and caught the scent of blood. She quickly jumped backwards. A body?! Is that a...hiker? What the...

 

She walked a little closer, and sniffed the torn head. It smelled like it was there for... Maybe a day, or less. She dragged the lone boot with her paw, and a leg came out of it. She didn't really get shocked by this, just surprised.

 

She sat down near the body, and just stared at the corpse. What killed it? Who was he or she?

She also noticed, that her paws were pretty bloody after poking and pushing the body. I need to wash this off... Blood would be all over my clothes if I shifted now.

 

But she didn't leave just yet. So here she was, standing by a corpse on a path, blood on her fur. Not the best situation if someone walked by.

Fazil smiled, and walked over to the couch too, sitting next to him."Well, past is past, right?" he asked, and ran his hand through his hair.

((Actually, she was supposed to get help, but she messed with evidence so it made it harder to determine what did it..... and thus all the better. The head is still attached, arm is no were near the body. Gore, it's fine but keep it to the blood. No extremely graphic descriptions of scenes. ))

 

 

 

"True... Alex said leaning against him with a sigh and tucked their head in the crook of Fazil's neck cuddling up with him. Humming, Alex said quietly, "If you meet me at work tomorrow and bring me lunch I'd go without the makeup... as a trial run. Only because you think me sexy without it. " She was toying with a thread on his jacket orange painted nails had a brown feather design on them.

Fazil put his hands softly around Alex."Sure thing! What do ya want for lunch, sweetie?" he asked with a cute smile on his face. "By the way, nice nails." he added. He slowly stroked her hand, and listened to the humming. What was she humming? He was very happy with this situation. "I'm sure it'll go fine. What time?"

PJ had left the tool shed, he was carrying a hammer some nails and a saw. He walked aimlessly around the forest trying to find a downed tree or at least a big log. While walking he came across the horrible scene of a blood covered cougar eating a hiker or so it seemed. He loooked away at first but he thought that maybe he should do something to at least try and make it recognizable to someone. He walked towards the cougar "Bad cougar leave that alone i know your hungry but there are other things to eat not humans." He waved the saw back and forth trying to get it away from the body so he could get a sherif and see if this hiker was from bearpaw or if any one had any clue who it was.

 

((yes shoo a cougar away from its meal of a human bigger than yourself, well never said pj was smart ))

Sarah heard steps, and soon she saw someone. It was that kid from earlier!

"Bad cougar leave that alone i know your hungry but there are other things to eat not humans." -he suddenly said to her, waving his hands.

She was quite unsure what to do, so she got up, let out a low growl, and waved her tail furiously.

Oh boy... Time to act wild.

She took a step forward, and unsheeted her claws. She bounced over the body, and growled/hissed as a warning, standing her ground.

Okay, Sarah, calm down. If he threatens me, I leave. If he shifts, I run. If he attacks, I defend. If he runs, I leave. If someone else comes, I get the heck out of here! Okay escape plan is ready...

Xel waited for the boy to take his pick from the food set out... He was getting bored, and upset that no one else was showing up. "I'm sure you have places to go, so hurry up..."

PJ ducked and rolled and let out a disgusted ew as he rolled into the blood. He put the saw on the ground and looked at the cougar "hmm why did this guy wind up out here. you need to leave cougar i don't know if you did this or not but i need to figure out a way to try and the person." He was talking mostly to himself but kept an eye on the cougar getting ready to shift if needed. He rolled the body onto it's stomach and looked in the back pocket for a wallet as well as looking for any signs that it could have not been the cougar that killed the guy.

Sarah stopped growling when the guy rolled past him into the blood. To pretend it's my 'catch' or to leave as if it was just a corpse I found...

She turned around, and tilted her head at the boy. Quite brave, or stupid of him to stay and examine a carcass near a predator. She slashed her tail from side to side annoyed, and started running away into the woods to find the closest river or pond.

 

She found a pond close by, and basically jumped into it. She quickly washed the blood off, and got out of the reddish water. She then began to try to dry her fur by shaking or licking it, or any way possible.

((Yo.... It is a murder, he's tampering with evidence, one person is screwed by messing with it. It's gruesome, as in blood guts bone mussel everywhere. It isn't eaten. Both of you are making it difficult to continue. Please contact AJ or jaycen or something.))

 

 

 

" Well, I do like that chicken salad at Julia's. You can bring me that around... let's say, 10:30?" She said and grinned. "Thank you I did them myself! " Alex continued humming "Breath of life" by Florence and the machine.

 

 

"I have nowhere to go. I just got here today. Besides, it doesn't seem like anyone was coming. I think she was joking. " Sky said as he picked a few crackers and meat and cheeses to nibble on and sticking some in a napkin for later.

Xel looked at the boy, "What do you know about her, I don't recall seeing you there." He took something for himself and sat back down, "If your new, I recommend going back and finding a better place to hang out."

PJ ran for the town, He went and ran to find aj "hey we have a problem there was a dead guy in the woods." he washed the blood from his hands and shook slightly in shock "i found a wallet but there wasn't anything in it. i found a cougar near it, maybe trying to eat it but it makes no sense to me it may have just been curious?"

"She has teal eyes and a faux cigarette. With the Alex chick and got tackled by that young bird. I've been on the streets for half my life, if it's one thing I know how to do, it's blending in and not going noticed. Thanks for the food man. Hopefully everyone in the town is as generous as you. Sky got up and walked away from the table heading to the old garden shed.

 

 

 

 

AJ was shocked when headed the bloody wallet with... nothing in it. The ID and cards where probably scattered around the crime scene. She texted jaycen, Xel, and Farah. Although Farah was new, she was a LA homicide detective and knew more about murders and processing the scene better then she did. And Farah had contacts who are specialists in the field and where on "vacation" close by.

PJ washed his hands but his clothes were still covered in blood from dodging the cougar. He took the shirt off and looked to aj "d-do you have any extra clothes around here or know someone who does that i can change out of these i rolled under the cougars leap and right through the blood." He put the shirt in the garbage can not wanting to see it as he turned away looking back at aj for any answers about anything.

Sarah finally shifted into a human. Crap... I just messed up with a murder... I shouldn't be here, I should be looking for what killed that person. I'm gonna go check if I find anything...

 

She walked to the crime scene and almost puked. It seems somehow more disgusting when your carnivore senses don't yell at you: Eat it eat it eat it -all the time. She looked around the body, and scratched the back of her head. Absolutely nothing could probably be found here without touching that, and she was not going to. She went to search the bushes around the area.

Oh look, the missing hand... Ew.

The hand seemed to have a bracelet on it, maybe it said something. She grabbed a stick, and dragged the hand towards her, to the path. She managed to get it to her, and tried to see what the bracelet said, if it said anything. Based on the bracelet, the person was either a girl... Or a guy with a girlfriend...

"It's a deal then." Fazil said with a happy tone. He loved that chicken salad too, maybe he should get one himself. "Uhm, should we check the stew?" he asked, when he got a scent of a delicious stew. But he didn't push her out of his lap, never, he'd just wait if she got up.

"Okay child, I'll get you some clothes and get your statement okay? I need to know exactly what you saw." She got a bag and him pulled out his cloths putting his bloody clothes inside, as she got him fresh clothes from the closest. They were a bit big but would have to do.

 

 

 

As soon as Farah got the text she leaped off the balcony and sifted as she fell, dashing toward the scent of fresh blood in the air. She came across the body and carefully picked around it to the woman with the arm shifting back. "What the ****ing hell do you think you're doing? This is a crime scene! " She seemingly put of nowhere pulled a pair of cuffs and a badge out. Showing it to her... it said LAPD, homicide. She was a homicide investigator. "I need to change it to ranger homicide detective, but I'm still in authority by AJ and the big boss who runs this place. Tampering with evidence is a crime you know.... the feds may not be able to set foot and arrest people here without permission, but I have permission. Now come on.. let's go to town. I'm not cuffing you unless you work with me.

She said as she pushed the girl back to town and into the holding cell in the tiny brick building. "Protocol, sorry. I know you aren't the one who killed that person, but I have to lock you up for tampering with evidence.

 

 

 

Alex shook her head "no, it's like a pot roast. You let it cook for a long while. It smells good because it's cooking but the meat would take a bit before it's cooked all the way through."

Pj got dressed after cleaning up and walked out. He was holding the pants up so that they didn't fall down as he went and took a seat keeping the pants up as best as he can so that the seat would keep them in place. He looked down "thank you miss, i needed those new clothes."

Sarah looked at the crime scene, when Farah arrived, and put cuffs on her. She was going to say something, but she guessed that she was just doing her job...

 

Sarah was soon put in a cell.

"Protocol, sorry..." Farah told to her.

"Ugh, fine. You better let me out soon", Sarah mumbled, and sat on the bed-thing. She leaned against the wall. "At least I can take a nap..." she chuckled, when Farah had left the room.

Fazil nodded slowly, when Alex told me there was no hurry. He took a little comfier position on the couch."Haha, at least we have more time for ourselves." he said, and hugged her a bit more.

Xel saw the text and sighed, "Your damn lucky you have an excuse now..." He shifted and ran off to the crime scene, shifting back on arrival, "Ooo... That is bad... Any leads yet?"

Jaycen let out a small sigh of relief as Farah walked off. Totally the wrong impression, but at least she doesn't know. He strolled out towards the ranger station to relax for a bit when he got a text from AJ. "Cmon, does nobody use the radios anymore?" He opened the text and nearly stopped his phone after seeing the contents, but managed to get ahold of it as he ran to the area she described. After scanning the area for about a minute he found the body and people around it, radioing for somebody to come by and yellow tape the scene as he came close and examined it. "This body has all the markings of an animal attack but all their body parts are accounted for. So if nothing was eaten, this was an attack from a rogue shifter. Although it's curious that there's puke nearby... perhaps the victim got sick and passed out before the attack occurred? It's worth noting at least. Anyone near the scene on arrival?"

 

Skye headed over to the shop described to her, heading up the stairs and calling out to whoever was there. "Hello? Kuza sent me here to stay with someone called, um, Jasmine?"

 

Kaeren strolled down a trail outside of Bear Paw, casually observing the local picnickers. This is absolutely boring... I wonder what the nearest city is? Walking up to one of the many maps, he located the exit of the park and started heading there. This little birdie is gonna fly free.

"The young boy that Hannah took in and the woman who I brought in my home..." AJ said softly looking sick herself.

 

 

"She's not it. And that's just a speculation Jay, but it is a shifter.. a serial killer. Let me give you a run down. Crash course. I've been tracking a killer from LA. she handed them gloves, and put on a pair of her own. As a group of people looking like tourists came up with things tourists don't normally carry and took pictures. "how I know this is linked to the killings, three before this one, is this bracelet. Placed post mortem on the victim with a charm sold at any tourist shop. The last one had a Yellowstone national park charm on it, a wolf with Yellowstone beneath it indicating the north part that is wolf territory... this....." she stopped as she took off the bracelet and turned white. Her eyes widened and went wild. "Lock down every shifter and human in bear paw peak and surrounding areas that have shifters! Now don't explain to anyone why, just say it's for our safety untill this is solved. This charm..... recognise it?" she held out the bracelet to the two. The charm was one of Alex's designs and made by him to promote his line. It was a tribute to bear paw, it's diversity and the feather was black patina tipped silver, Alex's mark. Sold in the stores around and in bear paw.

 

 

Jasmine was a pretty petite Indian woman who greeted her. "Hellu. You new? I've been here for a while. Pretty place. I can give you room and job at my work, I work in the bigger town, I help Alex sell clothes and jewelry outside of town, and I promote my incense soaps and candles in a different part of the store. Good to meet you, I am Jasmine."

 

 

Sky dashed out of the greenhouse and away from town. He spotted a blue speckled bird and decided to follow it hopefully it will lead him to some food. The bits of crackers and such wouldn't be enough.

 

 

Alex nodded and fell asleep on him. ((I got nothing too.))

Jaycen nodded, agreeing with her choice. "That's a good idea. You should probably have em do a headcount too, check and see if the killer is making a break fot it." He tapped his chin, a thought coming to him. "Actually, the charm showing up is a good thing. We can check in with Alex about her sales records, see about who bought a bracelet like this. For now we should see about this body, though." He checked the wounds closely, attempting to identify at least what type of shifter it was.

 

Skye smiled gratefully, nodding at the woman. "Could you just show me where I sleep for now? Today has been... hectic."

 

Kaeren walked along the path, noticing after a bit that he was being followed. He began speeding up a little, making sure he was just barely in sight range, then took a quick turn and hid behind a tree waiting for his mystery pursuer to walk by.

Xel looked over the body and then to Farah, "You know... If this gets too hectic... We might need some outside help. If the Shifter's haven becomes unsafe, people will run away, and then the secrecy of this place is comprised."

"Why do you think I'm here? I'm an outsider, and these lovely men and women you see here are on vacation from LA, Alaska, and Colorado state parks. I think no shifter is safe. Here.. see, this mark on the neck it's a kill shot. Same thing as the last. Nothing I've seen before. This place is known to humans, but hidden from them because of hunters who would love to kill us out of ... self defense. ... they run from here, this place is no longer safe.... and the people will have to go back to living in perpetual fear of a gun in their back. That's why I want it on the down low. Just announce a body of a hiker was found, and for all shifters in the park. Mammoth hot springs, west Yellowstone and the pahaska Indian village has shifters in them too. Not much, but enough. Tell them to stay close to home and on alert. If anyone acts suspiciously, they will report them."

 

A woman moved them away and told them the cause of death was the same, the throat tore out by something sharp and curved, four marks barley seen on one side, a large one one the opposite side. The other marks she remarked it looked like a bear this time. "This time?" "LA, was wolf or coyote bites, Alaska; lynx, in Colorado the body was found in the mountains, looked like a puma got to her. It's the same killer, same kill strike, arm and foot removed, the bracelet is the same but the marks are different. We won't know anything more until we get this sucker on a steal bed."

Sky crept slowly up and stopped hiding behind a bush watching the tree the boy hid behind. His red scarf peeked out from the greenery, tan and brown spotted coat ment for desert grasslands not for the woods. Needless to say, he stick out like a sunflower in a wheat field.

 

 

Jasmine smiled and nodded. She lead her to a comfortable but plain room. "I'd bring something up for you if you're hungry. Is fried noodles and eggflour soup ok?

Jaycen tilted his head thoughtfully. "This is a tricky one, all right. I have a couple ideas, so I'll list them by likeliness. First, it's a group of killers. This would actually make sense, especially with the different locations. Second, it's one killer that has enough knowledge to make the attacks look like a different animal. I don't think that's it though, it would be fairly difficult to fake. Lastly- and let me just mention that there is next to no chance of this being true -the killer has multiple forms it shifts into."

 

Skye nodded gratefully. "That would be amazing. Thank you very much." Heading into the room, she flopped on the bed and relaxed.

 

Kaeren heard a bush rustle slightly behind him and grinned. Gotcha. He whipped around, hitting the other boy with a flying tackle and pinning him, leaning in close to talk to him. "Why are you following me?"

She sighed and held up fingers indicating each point he made. "One was a possibility we ruled out for on each body we found the same type of hair, unidentifiable. Two, yes, that is true, although tied with three no. We found other hair with traces of the same chemical used in taxidermy and a claw in the third victim got broken off in the bone. It was metal, modified claws on a animal pelt. Whatever it is though, they are familiar with the attacking patterns of each animal. The cougar never touched the face in the wild.. the third victim's head was removed although with something like a katana, the neck was with the head.... and we can see the marks clearly. Head back to the precinct and I'll give you more of a briefing"

 

 

 

Jasmine started making the noodles when she got to the kitchen.

Sky yelped when captured, snapped and growls, wiggling and writhing to get away. "Why are you following me?" He huffed at that. He couldn't answer when a dog and couldn't shift because this child was holding him so tight. He squirmed again and growls at the kid. His brilliant eyes narrowed. Wait... his voice didn't sound like a ten year old's. Man this dude looked young. Damned birds. He simply growls and glowers at him his lips showing his teeth and pink gums.
