Favorite Boardgames?

Recommended Posts

Recently my husband and I have become addicted to Ticket To Ride. We have the original Ticket To Ride, Ticket To Ride Asia and USA 1910 as well as the Ticket To Rice card game. We play it manually on the board as well as online and have gotten several friends and family addicted to it too.

Is anyone else into boardgames and/or card games (not the usual card games you play with a regular pack)?

I have this board game that I used to play with my family, called Wahoo, which is played on a hand-crafted wooden board with holes drilled into it, and your playing pieces are marbles. It's really similar to the board game Sorry! but I think this might have been created before that game?

I don't know, my aunt received the board from a family friend like, 40 years ago, so. xd.png

Anybody heard of this board game called Pandemic? Basically a group of 4-6 players play as a team against the board/game where "several virulent diseases have broken out simultaneously all over the world and the players are disease-fighting specialists whose mission is to treat disease hotspots while researching cures for each of four plagues before they get out of hand." It's actually quite fun.

monopoly is best! you make up your own rules which makes it so much more fun. you don't even have to buy the game, you can make your own board and pieces. i love it.

also, does mancala count? cause i can play some mancala...

I still play Candyland, though I haven't played in awhile.

Mills Bourne, a french "automotive" card game, where you try to stack up miles while other players throw handicaps in front of you like speed limits and broken tires and such. That is by far my favorite card game.

My favourite is chess. I'd love to try go, but I don't know anyone who plays. Cluedo, Trivial and Monopoly are awesome too.

I'd say Game of Generals. Its precursor is chess, yes; however you can set the pieces up to your liking, and to make it more exciting, all pieces move the same. The pieces can only move up, down, left, right. And attacking is the same and is based on the Army rank of the officer. tongue.gif Plus, as a bonus, you can't see the rank of your opponent's pieces. It's actually easy to learn but very difficult to master. Different people have different tactics.

Spend a lot of time to learn only to figure out you really need to cooperate with each other if you want to win. It says 1-8 players, but you are probably going to want at least 3.

When I was a kid, I really liked Games of the General and Scrabble. I enjoyed Monopoly and Cluedo as well.

Of late, I have taken a liking to Cranium and Avalon.

There are so many unique and interesting boardgames nowadays and it is a challenge to choose favorites among them.
