Murphy's Laws for the DC life

Dragon Breeding

6c. The pair that has been uncooperative for months will only ever give you the egg you want if it's for someone else

Trading

When you finally manage to get a 'rare' dragon that could be used as trade fodder, the trade value of that dragon will drop

If you offer on a trade for something you really, really want, you can expect the other trader to take their 3 days to finally decide - or they let their dragon just grow up on their scroll.

Of course, they won't accept *your* offer if they finally do decide, no matter how good your offer was.

Murphy's Laws on Dragon Raising

4. Left on their own, all the even-gen dragons of the same generation will have the same gender.

_4a. Especially if they're part of a lineage.

_4b. Especially if replacement dragons are difficult to obtain.

_4c. If they're particularly determined, they can do so despite your direct intervention (AKA Influence).

Murphy's Laws on Trading and Gifting

8. An egg you're trying to give away - via Departure Board, TGT or other means - will sit on your scroll for several hours before being taken; however, the one time you screw up a teleport (adding the wrong egg or setting a one-way transfer instead of a trade) the egg will be grabbed immediately.

_8a. And you'll have no clue about who took it, so no way to get it back.

After a hybrid dragon is released, you will never find anything but hybrid fails of the parents in the AP again.

If you get a rare someone will put it on 52 different click sites

If you find a rare in the AP it will have the worst lineage you have ever seen

Reserving names for future Hybrids guarantees that you will never breed or find those Hybrids.

Tweaked a bit that last one.

Did you know that once upon a time it wasn't possible to edit names? Back then, errors were like diamonds: they were forever. *shudders*

Don't know what these would be under, but:

?.All the nice dragons that you want to gender right and forget to influence will always gender wrong.

a. Then something you don't care about will gender right to rub it in.

b. Especially if they're nice gifted dragons.

?.When you want to trade breed variants, no one wants to trade with you.

a. There will be a taken trade offer on the most recent page too.

?.When you only have one dragon of a rare breed that you like with a nice lineage, it will refuse everything.

a. When it doesn't refuse, it will not show much interest.

?. Your pinks will always be locked when you need them.

a. And if you don't have many pinks already, they will always only be either female or male.

b. Especially if you really need to influence things the other gender.

Sorry if they are repeats.

This one is so true it's not even funny.

11. When someone trades/offers exactly the dragon you were looking for, said dragon is related to its intended mate.

_11a. If you're lucky, you'll notice it before the trade is completed.

_11b. Or before the happy couple lays its first egg [see Breeding, rule 2].

25. "Incu-hatchable" AP eggs actually take forever to hatch once they hit your scroll.

_25a. Especially if you need room for something special.

26. Parents/children/spouses/friends/pets ignore you for hours, but need you urgently when a hourly drop begins.

_26a. If you are alone in the house, the phone/doorbell rings.

Not sure what number to put it under, but it is a breeding one:

Your prize dragon will merrily produce an egg whenever you aren't trying to breed one for someone, but the second you have someone you are trying to get an egg for, it will not give any eggs.

a. Or it will give fails

b. You try giving it a break with a different mate, breed a very common thinking you will just get a fail, and you get a prize.

c. When you switch back to the intended mate, you get more no interest, no eggs, or wrong eggs.

I know, I know... I go from "No social life" to "Everyone wants her".

Breeding

13. You will start gathering nice mates for your holidays months in advance, but you will forget and use them for something else.

_13a. And find yourself with no suitable mates when the breeding season begins.

When you decide it would be nice to see a "fogged" Bronze Tinsel dragon breed, but are egg-locked, and you choose a Gold Shimmer mate to reduce chances of successful breeding to zero, you'll get your first ever self-bred Gold Shimmer egg. Which will auto-abandon, naturally!

Take care of it if you find it dry.gif
