Posted August 12, 2015 ((He's perfect! I'll start!)) October 18th 10:45am. Cass sat in his usual spot for first lunch, or brunch as some called it. His spot was in a alcove under the stairs by the front door, away from the chaotic mess of kids attempting to get as much food and gossip as possible before heading to the last set of classes. He set out his tuna and cheese sandwich cut into a exact half, his thermos filled with sunny D, apple slices in a baggy, and a little Tupperware container of nutella for the apples. His lunch box was one he had since his mother gave him it on his first day of first grade, a old star trek tin one. Cass watched the rain outside as he bit into half of his sandwich, enjoying the peace while he still can. Share this post Link to post
Posted August 12, 2015 uff thank you friend/// sounds good!! )) Colby had been walking from the cafeteria, forced to escape after something in the lunch line had gone awry and the principal was now quite certainly on a manhunt--well, truthfully, the meatloaf was disgusting anyway and it was only a matter of time before someone decided to do something about it--so the red-haired male had thought it a good time to retreat. Pausing, the red-haired male waited until he was certain the coast was clear--and with no angry teachers in sight--before sneaking to his hiding place, one he was sure no one would ever think of to search for when looking for one Colby Moore. In his hand, he held a sandwich from earlier, now slightly squished, and in the other his classic bottle of water that the school's running team had won as prizes for completing a marathon. Ah, so where was that place again? Right, right--there. Colby ducked into the alcove, narrowly sliding past the principal stalking past, and the male breathed a sigh of relief. It was only then when he realised someone else was there--oh? "Hey there," he said, grinning casually. "Come here often?" Share this post Link to post
Posted August 12, 2015 Cass froze and looked up. "By often as in a frequent inhabitant of this spot, then yes I am. Every lunch and assembly since freshman year." He said softly, seeming to shrink into the corner more. He looks at the red haired male calculating everything from height, approx. weight, to seeing the water bottle and the lack of a proper lunch for this hour. Share this post Link to post
Posted August 12, 2015 (edited) Colby tilted his head at the other's reply--huh. That wasn't something one heard commonly, and the red-haired male was surprised. "Well then," he said, pausing to consider his response. "That's some dedication right there. Think I can join you here for the time being?" Posted August 12, 2015 Cass considered it for a moment. "That would be adequate for the time being." He said before taking another bite of his sandwich again. He remained silent for a while, watching the rain. Share this post Link to post
Posted August 12, 2015 Huh. Strange kid, Colby thought, the red-haired male running fingers through his hair as he took a seat and a swig from his water bottle, filling up for the silence that settled. "Boy, it's really storming out there, huh?" he said, waiting to fill up the void. Share this post Link to post
Posted August 12, 2015 (edited) "'Storm -noun, definition :a violent disturbance of the atmosphere with strong winds and usually rain, thunder, lightning, or snow'. I don't see lightning nor do I hear thunder. It isn't cold enough for snow, just rain. Ergo by definition, it isn't storming, just raining. " He corrected as he took a drink of his sunny D and ate the other half of his sandwich. "It is impolite to carry a conversation with an intellectual without properly being introduced. I am Cassius Williams." He said simply. ((Cass, using big words. That's how he gets past bullies, he confuses the heck out of them.)) Posted August 12, 2015 Colby blinked, the boy momentarily taken aback by the long definition the boy--ah, yes, Cass--had suddenly recited. Pausing, he thought to himself as he took another drink of water, swishing it around in his mouth before swallowing. "You really do know a lot of big words, huh?" he asked, though it was more rhetorical than anything else. "Raining, then. Nice to meet you, I'm Colby, and I wouldn't call myself an intellectual." A laugh. Share this post Link to post
Posted August 12, 2015 "I call myself an intellectual, am in college, I just need to pass high school for their completely useless degree in today's job market and economy." He finished his sandwich and started on the apples and nutella dip. "And I read a dictionary and a thesaurus, of course I know -as you put it- 'a lot of big words'." He said softly as he continued to a- avoid eye contact and b- look out of the window at the water falling from the heavens. Share this post Link to post
Posted August 12, 2015 Colby watched as the other began working towards his apples, completing his meal with a perfectly immaculate posture. "Aren't you a special snowflake," he returned, leaning back as he unwrapped the squished sandwich and took a bite. "So, tell me, with all of your dictionaries and thesauruses, think you could help me pass the English final?" A pause, the red-haired boy eyeing the other's tray. "I'll repay you with nutella." Share this post Link to post
Posted August 13, 2015 Cass opened his mouth to tell the red head to find some other tutor when he froze. Nutella? Both his and his mother love the stuff, but on her two paychecks already stretched thin, the most they could indulge was two small 1.8oz jars a month to use sparingly. This jar was supposed to be his mother's, but with his birthday coming up, she packed it in his lunch as a gift. He seemed to be considering his answer carefully. "Only if you do your own work when I'm tutoring you. When you pass the final, I'll expect two jars of nutella. Deal?" He fixed him with a violet glare. ((you know... I kinda picture Colby like this... Sorry, pictures help me get a general idea of the character...)) Share this post Link to post
Posted August 14, 2015 Two jars? Huh, that was easy enough. Colby blinked, sure the other would've asked for more. "Sure," he returned easily, face flickering into an easy smile. "I'll work hard, so treat me nicely, alright? Two jars it is, then." He returned the violet gaze with his own hazel one, and winked to seal the deal. ((omg pftt you imagine him so cool looking that's a nice picture : ' D )) Share this post Link to post
Posted August 14, 2015 (edited) Cass was startled at the wink and snapped his attention back to his apple, a slight blush across his nose. What in the world was that for? "Considering you have the recent prize from the extracellular running team, you do sports. Any time you have available you can find me at the library on 12th and Hamlin. Miss. Valentine the librarian will point you to the current section I am stationed at. " He said softly as he bit into his apple. ((That grin fits his personality! Just the kind of guy that little adorable Cass would fall for! I'm strange and came up with ship names XP Fenni Fenrir x Jenni... (when they were....) Cassolby cassxcolby Or Colass Croinel crowxDaniel or Danow... He he, Dan-ow, me say Dan, me say Dan, me say d an-owh.... Danow come and me wanna go home!)) Valentine the librarian will point you to the current section I am stationed at. " Colby nodded, taking in all of his new information with a focused look on his features. He took a bite of his sandwich, still thinking, before he replied. "Yeah," he said with a nervous laugh, "but where are sports gonna get me, anyways? I'm okay, but hardly good enough to play professional." A pause. "And I'm particularly failing everything else," he said in a lax attitude, completely come to terms with his fact his academic grades were not the best. "I'll see, then." Another bite. "When can we begin?" (( ahh thank you friend ; u ; and yeah!!! omg nicenice shipnames are always cute ; o ; fenni sounds really cute omg fenrir/jeni was rly cute tbh ahh nicenice cassolby sounds fun : ' D danow omg pftt nice)) Share this post Link to post
Posted August 16, 2015 (edited) "Any day you want to start. I'm at the library from three to five on school days and noon to five on weekends." He cleared his things getting ready to leave early for calculus. He loves calculus, complex equations equal to his college work. He was the only sophomore in that class. "Your education is entirely up to you." Says the straight A+ student who broke the school record of attendance and test score averages. (( I'm already shipping Danow so much now!)) Posted August 21, 2015 (edited) ; u ; ahh nicenice )) "Your education is entirely up to you." Colby blinked in surprise before answering--he felt a slight vibration in his pocket that signaled an incoming message, and the red-haired boy casually ignored it. "You sure have a lot of free time," he whistled, staring at the other with a curious glance. Between his extracurricular sports and hanging out with friends, the red-haired student hardly had any time to catch up on his studies. "Lunch alright, then? I'm usually busy after school." Wait, a pause. Basketball season was over, meaning he now had more time. "Actually, scratch that. I'm free Wednesdays and Fridays, if that works for you?" He pulled out his phone and quickly checked the messages. Incoming: where r u Incoming: stop by the gym. starting up rugby ; ) He stands, brushing off his shorts. "I--er--gotta go. I'll see you around, I guess?" Colby does an awkward little shuffle and waves a goodbye. Edited August 21, 2015 by Lady_Lunevis Share this post Link to post
Posted August 21, 2015 (edited) "Meet here at lunches, and you're in luck, today is Wednesday. Be at the library at three thirty with all the correct materials needed for English. I expect you to be punctual." He said as he got up and turned to leave as well. "I would be expecting you later. If you don't have an umbrella, my locker is in the west wing number 143. I always keep a spare." He headed off to his class early and worked on his college things. Edited August 21, 2015 by AroaraAngelwolf Share this post Link to post
Posted August 24, 2015 i hope you don't mind if i timeskip!! ; o ; )) Colby arrived at the library come 3:20, the bus having been late a good fifteen minutes. The red-haired boy shook droplets of water from his hair, grimacing at the state of his clothes--despite telling him where his locker had been, Cass had forgotten to mention his code, and so Colby was left staring at the thing for a good couple of minutes before deciding to just run for it. As the bus had stopped about two blocks away, the male had decided to simply face the music. Gripping his schoolbag close, he ran into the welcoming library halls, ignoring the look of distaste from the librarian as he dripped water all over the floors. Careful golden-brown eyes scanned the area, and Colby watched for a familiar brunet head. Share this post Link to post
Posted August 24, 2015 ((No I don't )) Cass came in five minutes later and folded his umbrella up. "Sorry for the inconvenience. I once again encountered the high school jock." He said grimly. "Now, I have something for you... Colby correct? No worries miss. Valentine, he's with me. Now, please, follow me and I'll get you dry." The brunette lead him to the staff only door and through it to the staff room pulling down soft towels and handing him a few. "I have looked at your academic record and has found a letter to be sent home to your parents and or guardian after your English assessment. It states that if you fail one more quiz, you're going to be off any extra curricular activities for the rest of the session until your grades reach a acquit level in the four core classes. I can help you with this if you wish, but I repeat: your education is entirely up to you." He sat down in a soft chair after draping towels on the other one and got out the English work Colby needed to know. Share this post Link to post
Posted September 4, 2015 Colby shrugged, running a hand through damp locks as he listened to Cass speak. "No worries, I haven't been waiting long." Curiously, he noted how the male seemed all too familiar with the librarian, a concept entirely foreign to someone of his status, and followed the brunet through the halls. At the mention of his school records and one ill-fated letter, Colby gave a nervous chuckle. "Well, like I said, I haven't been paying much attention to my grades. Sports have always been more my thing." The reminder of what lay looming ahead in his foreseeable future should he fail one more exam sent cold shivers up his spine, and Colby gave a shudder as he dried his hair with the offered towel. "I suppose so," he agreed readily, draping himself into one of the chairs. Share this post Link to post
Posted September 5, 2015 Cass tilted his head. "What do you mean by, 'I suppose so' ? Do you want to keep doing sports or not? And please take out your English. Your teacher- who is also mine for we are in the same class apparently- has informed me that you need to be able to correctly write a argumentative essay. Do you have any notion on the structure of an argumentative essay?" He asked setting out papers and prompts on the table, the towel on his shoulders. He delicately organized everything and took out a plan black glasses case, opening it, and cleaning the t thick rectangular glasses before piercing them on his nose. The black frames where thinner so he could look over the glasses easily. They made his violet eyes seem larger and gave him the "cute nerd" vibe without even trying. Share this post Link to post
Posted September 27, 2015 "Alright," Colby responded, leaning forwards now and clasping his hands together on the table. "I need to do well in academics to continue with sports, how's that?" At the mention of an essay, the male gave a nervous laugh and looked around, like a deer caught in headlights. "Well . . . I can write a paragraph?" he suggested weakly. "Huh," the male said as Cass took out his glasses. "You wear glasses?" And they had the same teacher in English? It was truly a puzzlement to the red-haired sports fan on how he'd never noticed the brunette before. Share this post Link to post
Posted September 27, 2015 Cass sighed heavily. They have a lot of work to do in little amount of time. "I see we have a lot to do here. Yes, I'm far sighted, these are bifocals." He shuffled around the papers. Pulling one out he set it in front of him. "Alright, here's a basic Jane Shaffer way to write a proper argumentative essay. First you write the topic. The topic is the prompt. You choose either for or against the prompt. Next you write your reasons to back it up. These must support your position. The next is tricky, you have to say what the opposing side would say, and have a response to it. The pro and con part here is to help you prove your point and see what is against your position. The last bit is restating your position and summarising the essay." He looks at the prompt list. "Let's say, public display of affection in school is the topic. I myself would have to say it should be restricted to a minimum. My reasons, it's distracting for others, clogs up the hallways in between classes, and I've noticed a considerable amount of tardiness linked to such displays. Others will argue, saying it is a right of freedom of expression, and tardiness can be linked to anything. I'd wrap it up saying I'm against PDA in schools, and restating my reasons. Do you understand?" He asked, explaining everything slowly. Share this post Link to post
