Tiny Little Questions

Recommended Posts

1) Do green Nilias produce green Nilias by default or do you have to use Fertility on them and their mate (as you would for blue Nilias)?

2) What happen if two different Avatars (Change and Destruction for example) are bred together?

Green Nilias don't 'breed true', you have to use Fertility on both parents to get a green no matter the parents breeds.

As far as breeding Avatars together, I *think* there's the possibility of getting an egg of either type, but I'm not totally sure.

edit: Just bred a Change to a Destruction and got a Change egg, so I think that's right.

I was interested so I just tried a few. Destruction to Change gave Change, and another pair gave Destruction; Creation and Destruction gave Creation. (I wanted to see if it was random. It seems to be.)

What happens if you trade an egg but didn't remove it from a clicksite beforehand?

I can't remove it from the site now as it's not on my scroll, but I know we aren't supposed to have posted/shared other peoples eggs..

Will it still be up, or would it automatically remove since it changed scrolls...?

I have found eggs on Egg Drop Soup that are now on my scroll that were traded to me. For most of the hatcheries I use, it seems that the egg disappears from the hatchery when traded. I cannot swear to this, but my experience has been that I haven’t found a newly traded egg on any hatchery other than Egg Drop Soup, Silvi’s Lair, and, if it is super low time, someone may have added its code to ER Valley Sherwood. Also it can be on Daily Dragon Fix. The reason I don’t think it happens on other hatcheries is that I generally check all hatcheries after receiving an egg, and I don’t recall seeing any of them on any of the other hatcheries. But I could have missed one. I’m thinking of one fairly obscure one right now that I’m not sure if eggs automatically get removed from it ...

Why can't you remove it - is it one of those log-in ones ? Otherwise you can.

I have occasionally found my newly acquired eggs (via trade) on Egg Drop Soup. The only way I found to delete it was to load my entire scroll in Egg Drop Soup, then delete my entire scroll. I haven’t really had a problem with other sites— I do try to remember to check DDF and Silvi’s.

I have received MANY eggs and hatchies in trades that turned out to be in multiple hatcheries, so I don't think that holds. But Egg Drop Soup is in a world of its own. It's too much hard work to remove things, so I don't use it.

However, MOST hatcheries remove anything that is fogged after a few hours. Silvi's apparently doesn't; I've been caught that way a few times.

mostly a curiousity - i have a Gold x Sophrosyne pairing.  i've gotten two "no egg is produced" for their first two breedings. (i did use fertility on one the first time i bred them).

when i finally get an egg from them, are my only possibilities Gold or Sophrosyne? the Sophrosyne's mom is a Sophrosyne, but her parents are a White x Daydream.  could my Gold x Sophrosyne net a White or Daydream?

just curious is all.  eventually i'll get Gideon from them though!!

You'll only get a Gold or Sophrosyne. DC doesn't do 'throw-back' breedings, ie you can't get an ancestors breed, it's always one of the parent breeds (or a hybrid). The one except to that is Spitfires and Ultraviolets, breeding an Ultraviolet can sometimes give a Spitfire egg. But that's the only ones that do that.

Yeah, just as soon as I opened my big mouth:  I completed a trade, and found my new egg snuggly nestled on Drag Hatch   So I guess my theory doesn’t hold water.

It is good to know that I can fog a hatchling and hopefully it will be removed, because currently it has been stuck in the same hatchery for two days and I can’t remove it.

ETA: fogging it overnight, for 12 hours, finally did the trick. It is now removed from the hatchery. ETA2: Not the same hatchling as discussed below.

I don’t quite know where to ask this. I’ve posted in on the fansite page but no response yet. Is anyone else having trouble removing hatchlings from The Hatching Club?

I have one in there now that is sick and I cannot remove it.  Anyone else?

Do you at least have it fogged? Though if it's close to growing it's probably fine. Hatchlings take a lot work to kill through sickness.

I didn’t have it fogged because I had a note posted in “random scroll help” (couldn’t find a better place to put it) to please try to remove it from that hatchery. Someone apparently succeeded, because it is no longer in that hatchery.

I then fogged it for about an hour after making sure it was not in any hatcheries that I could locate.

It is currently in a trade, and I hope the person responds shortly. I just unfogged it about five minutes ago.

Is the hatchling still protected from dying until ward wears off, or did ward wear off when the egg hatched?

ETA: It is not close to growing. It is a newly hatched hatchling. I snagged the egg out of the AP a few hours ago, maybe three hours ago? Not sure. It already had a huge hole in it and was sick when it hit my scroll. I immediately warded it, influenced and incubated it, and it immediately hatched. Because it was sick, I went through all the hatcheries to remove it. That was when I found that it was in The Hatching Club and that I could not remove it. That is the second hatchling in two days that I have not been able to remove from that hatchery.

ETA2: Do I need to worry about it dying because it is a newly hatched hatchling? It is more fragile than a hatchling that is almost ready to hatch, no?

With THC it always takes AGES to register when you add or remove; I am constantly having to reclick because I got impatient.

I wouldn't have offered it in a trade till it was no longer sick, myself. It could die on the recipient of the trade, which feels unfair to me, and they can't ward an egg that's been warded already.

But yes - ward holds up on the hatchie - the 6 hours is 6 hours no matter what.

Hatchlings are notoriously hard to kill through sickness, almost impossible according to some accounts I've heard. Since I found that out I haven't fogged any sick hatchlings and have had 0 deaths; they regularly end up with 10k+ views because I forget them in all hatcheries after ERing them as eggs, and they just grow up normally eventually. I wouldn't worry too much about it.

I ended up canceling trade and fogging hatchie (before I read your post) out of an abundance of caution. Because I would not want a sick hatchling to die in the middle of a trade.  He recovered within a couple of hours, and I was able to reoffer.

Thank you for the answer about ward holding up on hatches for the full 6 hours after using ward.

Thank you for letting me know this. I don’t know if I will be brave enough to try this myself, but thanks for sharing!

I got an egg from the DC community board, it was only getting one or two views every few hours so I don't think it was already on any sites and those were probably organic views, and I didn't put it ony click sites yet as it had 6+ days left, but I wake up and it has almost 1600 views and is sick..? How does that happen?

In that kind of case, almost certainly someone else is annoyed that you got it and they didn't, so bombed you. Sorry - but it happens.... I hope it ends up OK.

It also could be simply that someone thought they were helping by adding it to some sites ('never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity', some people genuinely think they are helping if they see an egg not getting stats). Regardless, it's always a good idea to fog an egg when it's at it's most vulnerable, especially if you got it from someone else and it was posted publically.

Ah ok, didn't occur to me. XD thanks, hes fogged for now.

So either someone is trying to be helpful, or salty they didn't get it... (If someone wants it that badly just ask...or grow up..)

EDIT

How long does it take to stop being sick? It's fogged now but i'm not sure when it first got sick, but i've never had one stay sick this long..

I find it depends on how long it was sick before I noticed and fogged it. (Omg I typed flogged the first time lol) Hopefully it gets better soon.

I always leave sick things fogged for at least 24 hours, even if they are better much sooner.

Same, if it had enough stats to get sick it can easily get sick again after you un-fog it, so leaving it fogged longer than strictly necessary is a good idea.

How do we add a picture to a private message on the forum? The picture is saved to my home computer only right now.

Please and thank you.

You have to upload it to a hosting site and use the url, or add it to a post and copy its url, then hide the post and it will still be in "My attachments" - you CAN add an existing attachment if you can find its url, I think.

OOH I may have found another way... Testing

OK - you have PM....
