What do you think breeding depends on?

It would make sense if Chrono x Xeno offspring had something to do with the time of day. Chrono = time. The only Xeno x Xeno breedings that did not result in one of the Xeno parents involved Chronos (as parent or offspring).

Nope, I can offer

Male Pyro x female Gaia -> Thalassa

(Feel free to add this to the spreadsheet.)

Just bred my set of six. The four that produced eggs all bred true.

Xenowyrm type: Astrapi

Gender: Male

-

Mate: Thunder Dragon

Biome: Desert

Elemental Affinity: Lightning

Mana: Destruction

-

Result: Astrapi

Xenowyrm type: Thalassa

Gender: Female

-

Mate: Blusang Lindwurm

Biome: Coast

Elemental Affinity: Water

Mana: Creation

-

Result: Thalassa

( No egg from Mageia x Cassare )

(Refusal from Chrono x Nocturne )

Xenowyrm type: Gaia

Gender: Male

-

Mate: Fever Wyvern

Biome: Jungle

Elemental Affinity: Death

Mana: Destruction

-

Result: Gaia

Xenowyrm type: Pyro

Gender: Male

-

Mate: Desipis

Biome: Desert

Elemental affinity: Dark/Magi

Mana: Destruction/Change

-

Result: Pyro

My Xeno x Xeno theory, sorry if it's already been posted, is that the offspring will either follow the parents OR their 'avatar' alignment.

Creation: Jungle (Life) + Coast (Water)

Change: Desert (Magi) + Forest (Time)

Destruction: Volcano (Fire) + Alpine (Lightning)

So if you bred, say, Volcano x Coast you could get either those or Jungle / Alpine, but you'd never get Forest / Desert.

Can anyone disprove this?

Xenowyrm type: Thalasa

Gender: Female

-

Mate: Radiant Angel

Biome: Volcano

Elemental affinity: Magi

Mana: Change

-

Result: Thalassa lineage; born 11:14PM (if that's anything)

Xenowyrm type: Pyro

Gender: Male

-

Mate: Xenowyrm

Biome: Jungle

Elemental affinity: N/A (Most likely - Earth?)

Mana: N/A (Most likely - Creation?)

-

Result: Pyro lineage; born 11:16PM (if that's anything)

Xenowyrm type: Chrono

Gender: Male

-

Mate: Xenowyrm

Biome: Desert

Elemental affinity: N/A (Most likely - Time?)

Mana: N/A (Most likely - Change?)

-

Result: Mageia lineage; born 11:17PM (if that's anything)

Xenowyrm type: Astrapi

Gender: Female

-

Mate: Blusang

Biome: Coast

Elemental affinity: Water

Mana: Creation

My PM conversation with birdz:

About the breeding of xenowyrms, are you planning to keep completely silent, or could you possibly at least hint as to the closeness of the theory I expressed  here?

By the way, thanks enormously for the wonderful wyrms! smile.gif

I was planning on commenting on it as soon as I saw one that was crazy close (which there just was one, so I commented). I don't want you guys to be in the dark forever.

c;

And no, thank youu!! I'm glad you like them!!

Yep, I saw! smile.gif Now to work out how the Xeno x Xeno works. It probably has something to do with creation, destruction and change... wait, I think I have a theory again:

Considering the spread of xenowyrms across the affinities:

Creation:

• Life—Gaia

• Water—Thalassa

Destruction:

• Lightning—Astrapi

• Fire—Pyro

Change:

• Magi—Mageia

• Time—Chrono

Would that mean that the pair Pyro x Gaia can give Pyro, Gaia, Thalassa or Astrapi, but not Mageia or Chrono because neither are in change?

Nope! Though that is an interesting theory. I think you guys are overthinking things a little bit.

Remember, all Xenowyrm subspecies are part of Xenowyrm species, therefore they're all breedable from each other.

time + magi somehow = life

Not exactly a Volcano x Coast type of pairing, but still a different alignment than the parents.

I think it's just a large chance to be the same as the parents (or their alignment?) with a small chance to be one of the others. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Aw. Maybe just a much higher chance of getting one of the parent types with a smaller chance of any of the other four? So not quite as random as, well, random, but still fairly random? tongue.gif

Also guys, Xeno x Xeno is the only breeding pattern that hasn't been figured out yet--the other two types are listed in the first post--so posting other results probably isn't needed any more. Unless you just want to see what the odds of breeding things are. xd.png

Yayyy, ding-ding. This is pretty much correct.

It works like Xeno x 'Cave' dragon breeding does. That's literally all that was missing. |D

I told you guys it was simple... I'm no liar! XD Making things overly complicated for a dragon with six different subspecies would just be mean.

eta: I went with biomes rather than elements because if I just went with elements, 7/13 DC elements would've been left out of the breeding process, and it would've really restricted lineage possibilities. I wanted to make sure that lineages could be as diverse as possible, so, even if going by the element type of the other parent dragon might've fit their theme a little better than biomes, it would've made breeding way less interesting because over half of the dragons in-cave would be left out of the process (or be randomized, but that would've made no sense imo).

So, yes... The spreadsheet was messed up again... But I gave permission to edit only to 2 people and it says who edited and when.

-removed, please don't call others out publically on the forum- *Apologize, I was really mad about it*

Anyway, since we already have al the theory correct, I guess everything's done! smile.gif

Thank you SO MUCH to everyone who participated fairly and with good will ^w^

Edit:

Birdz, thank you VERY MUCH for these amazing dragons! Breeding process is still complex, but I'm glad it's not completely random tongue.gif

I'll update the theory when I get home and leave to comment for tonight, I guess. Then, I'll PM a mod and ask to close the thread smile.gif

Lol, I must admit I'm a little bit sad you didn't end up going with the theory that looked good for a little while, the three Avatar category things for elemental matches... but this is good too! Obviously xd.png

And yay everyone who helped figure it out! You guys did it before my next three Xenos grew, I didn't have a chance to really help at all tongue.gif

In short, I bred 4 same type Xenowyrm couples, 3 pairs gave their own breed, 1 gave another breed.

All were bred one right after another, so there is no way the time of the day mattered.

I'll shorten the form, since there are no other options because all are bred within type.

Xenowyrm type: Mageia

Mate: Mageia

-

Result: Mageia

Xenowyrm type: Gaia

Mate: Gaia

-

Result: Gaia

Xenowyrm type: Pyro

Mate: Pyro

-

Result: Pyro

Xenowyrm type: Chrono

Mate: Chrono

-

Result: Pyro :/

When my 2 other couples grow up, I might update.

But atm it looks like there is some chance for biome/elemental affinity but there is also a, maybe smaller, chance for a random.

Update:

I bred 2 other same-breed couples, both gave the egg of their own type:

Xenowyrm type: Astrapi

Mate: Astrapi

-

Result: Astrapi

Xenowyrm type: Thalass

Mate: Thalass

Result: Thalass

5/6 bred true, 1/6 gave offspring of another type(Chronos->Pyro)

I was telling a friend about these findings and a question came up I couldn't answer - which dragons exactly count as "Cave" (Situation 2)? Only GoN and old dragons that have "Location: Cave" on their page, or bred dragons as well? Does anyone know?

Dragons labeled "Cave" are Guardians of Nature, caveborn prizes obtained in the raffle, and caveborn dragons from the time when the cave wasn't divided into biomes. smile.gif Bred dragons don't even have the Cave label. biggrin.gif

Though I think they would work the same way as 'Cave' dragons as they have no specific biome for the mechanic to reference.

First attempt:

Xenowyrm type: Astrapi

Gender: Female

-

Mate: Pyros

Biome: Volcano

Elemental affinity: Fire

Mana: Fire

-

Result: Doesn't show much interest in each other. (Aw poo and this is the one I was looking forward to. dry.gif )

Second Attempt:

Xenowyrm type:Chrono

Gender: Female

-

Mate: Mageia

Biome: Desert

Elemental affinity: Magi

Mana: Magi

-

Result: Mageia egg

Not the one I really wanted but oh well at least the lineage looks nice. dry.gifsmile.gif
