A rather plain carriage jostled down the forest road. Made of dark wood, with minimal windows and only escorted by the driver and the footman, it would have passed for a common carriage hired to bring someone, still well off but barley so, to the next town. Would have, save for the door was painted the blue and gold shield with a pair of white stag antlers sprouting from the top of the shield and a grey cloven hoof in the middle of the checkered shield background; the crest of the Garthfello household.

Neiva sat inside, curtains drawn tight as she read a book in the still slim light that peeked through. Her light violet eyes focused on the words as she flipped the page with a slender finger encased in a thick light green silken glove that matched her dress. She was on the way home, where her parents there wouldn't care if she was late, or showed up at all.... She would've been surprised if they even noticed her presence in the home.

The shorter path they where supposed to take went by the river, but a recent rainfall flooded the banks and washed out the path, so through the forest the carriage bumped along.

Xel sat in a tree. He had just finished a flask of water and lean back on the branch. The day was slow, but luckily the flooding made robbery counts higher. He perked up at the sound of a horse's hooves hitting the dirt path. He stood on the branch and cupped his hands, bringing them to his mouth, he let out a unique bird sounding call. Three others emerged from the forest in the trees, a large man, and short man, and a woman.

((The brute, the trapper, and the rogue.))

Neiva looked up when they jolted to a stop. She arranged her wide veiled hat on top of her fine white hair and snatched her parasol from beside her. "Robert, is anything wrong?" "Stay in the carriage Miss." The driver's voice sounded odd to her. He then reached for his sword; the footman, his dagger. A click sounded as the carriage door was locked from the inside.

The two men weren't exactly skilled in the fine art of fighting, but then again, her parents didn't exactly care for her safty, they did for her younger sister but not exactly for her.

The men quickly engaged two of the people, the to be and the brute, and quickly lost being tied up roughly.

The horses almost spooked, but the trapper quickly got them calm and was working on the lock of the carriage, but lock picking wasn't his strong suit.

Xel dropped down and tapped the trapper on the shoulder, "You can organize and create so many weird gadgets, but can pick a mechanical lock..."

((Which of the three others do you want to play as?))

((The brute? Just going to have Knock out the two men and carry them that's it... sorry to snitch one from you. ))

"Traps are a bit different then locks." He said as he stepped aside. "Sir, if this is Abigail Garthfello we can hold her for ransom. The king's second son and her family will both pay a healthy sum to have the precious bride to be back home safe and sound..." He grinned.

Inside, Neiva rolled her eyes under the chest length vial on her hat, that covered every wisp of her hair and shrouded her face in deep shadow. She held her parasol in front of her like a bar across her chest, praying she wouldn't be handled to roughly if she didn't fight them. The bruises take weeks to go away on her paper thin and porcelain white skin.

((No problem at all, though it seems you can be the trapper too. I got the girl rogue.))

Xel sighs, "Solessa, break the lock." With a nod, the rogue pulled out a knife and sliced the door handle clean off. Xel then opened the door, "Sorry to interrupt your ride, but we will be taking you from here Miss." He gave her a friendly smile before turning to the two other men, "Search tgeir pockets for anything. Leave their clothes and one horse and the carriage, we take the girl, anything of value, and the other horse."

Neiva sighed and took her two luggage bags, one a large case the other a small bag with old books inside. She got out and set the bags down. She put up her parasol and held it above her.

The big man roughly emptied the two men's pockets. They had a pen, a fan, 20 silver pieces between the two of them, handkerchiefs, a vial of smelling salts, and their weapons.

Neiva calmly threw her money bag with two gold, five silver, and a dozen copper in it. She had took out her handkerchief a second vial of smelling salts and a warn out fan. "Just because the crest is on the door doesn't mean I have anything of value. In the case are clothing of three silk dresses, hardly worth a gold each in cloth, and I'd highly doubt you'll find another woman of my physique, and tailored servants clothing, a pair of silk gloves, and another hat like the one I have on... and unless you find a widow, good luck in selling that. The other bag are books that can be found in any literate home, most are old wives tales placed in writing anyway. Both are mares, the chestnut is easier to handle then the grey. "

Xel blinked, "Uh... Thanks?" He grabbed the other three thieves and made a group huddle, "She is way to calm about this... Any thoughts?" Solessa sighed, "I say take the money, weapons, the one horse, and the girl. She isn't lying about the cheap fabrics." Xel looked at the other two.

Matt the trapper shrugged. "She could be bluffing to throw us off. Her case has the crest too, but I'm not seeing any rings or jewelry, maybe she's the younger daughter and gets the hand-me-downs? Everyone cares about the older sibling anyway. She still can be worth some gold."

Rob, the brute scratched his head. "She is small, and it's hard to tell with her odd hat of hers. She might be scared, we can't see her face though..."

Neiva pocketed both vials of salts and the fans for later use, figuring she'll need them soon. She spoke with her two men, both whom seemed very worried about her and kept shaking their heads until she said something and turns her back on them and unhitched the chestnut and hooked her bags to the halter on the horse. "Are you done with your little meeting? It is going to be dark soon."

Xel sighed, "I hope I'm not going to regret this." He broke the huddle and walked over to the girl, "Miss, you will be coming with us. Your two men here will be left here with a horse and your carriage." He took a bag that had all the gold from this heist and threw it to Solessa. He then motioned to Rob to knock out to two extras. "Now Miss if you follow us, we wouldn't want any trouble."

The two men where unconscious with one punch. Neiva took the horse and lead it after the men and woman. "I don't believe I have given you any trouble thus far." She said as she flowed them into the woods.

She was silent for a long time. Eventually she had to put up her parasol for the trees grew to close. She hooked that on the horse and exchanged it for the fan, her breaths heavy and her steps slowing. "Stop...... for just a moment..... please...." She gasped. Matt looked at Xel, "this could be a trick sir." He murmurs.

Xel motioned for them to stop, "Solessa, please attend to our guest." She nodded and went back to the girl, "Okay, we're stopped. Are you okay?" Xel was in front, counting their gained coin.

Neiva had her hand on her heaving chest as she struggled to catch her breath. She shook her head. "To warm..." She lifted the vail slightly to get air under it, fanning herself. After a minute she had slowed her breathing.

"I think I'm fine now. " She walked forward, stumbled and froze. Her fan dropped as she collapsed suddenly, her hat catching on a branch and hung there. Her hair was in a braided updo, with a white satin ribbon almost hidden as it wound its way through her curls and braids.

"She looks nothing like her sister, and I guess it wasn't a trick. " Matt said.

Solessa moved to catch her, "...well, now what?" Xel came over to examine her, "We move to camp, give her some water and try to move in the shade of the trees. Regardless of who she is, we will get a ransom." Solessa handed her to Rob, "Carry her gently, if she sweats more or feels too warm, tell me."

Rob nods. "She looks like a China doll..." He muttered as he took the girl, dwarfed by his size, in his arms and moved to the shade. Matt took her hat, fan and the horse leading it to camp.

Neiva didn't wake until they had reached their camp and tried to give her water. The sun was setting at that time, and she looked more like a lost spirit then a girl in the dark. She winced and took a deep breath, heaving a sigh as she pinched the bridge of her nose. "I fainted.... didn't I?" She opened her eyes at a squint, then realized there wasn't a lot of light where she was at and spend her violet eyes fully, slowly sitting up.

Xel was sitting next to her when she woke, "Correct... I guess in a way that helped us, you don't know how to get here, or how to leave." He was sharpening a hunting knife, nothing suitable to kill with, but good general use. "Anywho, Solessa and Matt will get world out of your capture, and then we will demand ransom for your release. You will be home in due time." He pushed and flask of water towards her.

"Is that so? And tell me, have you ever heard of the Garthfello's Eldest daughter? It isn't Abigail, I assure you. How much are you asking for? I doubt you'd get one copper from my father. He and mother wouldn't care if you murdered me out here. I'm not even allowed out of my room when at home, so with you.. this is more like a field trip then imprisonment to me. Thank you. " She took the flask and drank a little before handing it back.

Xel blinked and took the flask, "...what are you talking about, your in noble class, I'm sure you have your worth in coin." He stood up, "Lying or not, we will find out tomorrow. This will be your tent for the night. If you need anything, call for Solessa." He startting walking towards the exit.

"Neiva. My name is Neiva." She said as she got up. She got in her open case and pulled out a wooden brush, letting down her fine hair. "Please, call me by my name.... am I allowed out of this tent?" She pulled the brush over her hair that reached her waist as she spoke in a calm but saddened voice and looked at the tent wall.

Xel looked back for a moment, "...If you want time out of the tent, ask Solessa. She will be in charge of you until your ransom is paid. Good day Miss Neiva." He walked out of the tent and sat by the fire. Solessa next to him, "Thoughts?" Xel shook his head, "No idea sis..."

Neiva thought for a moment before walking to the entrance of the tent. She turned around and lay down, her head out of the tent looking at the darkening sky, her feet still inside, the flap cutting her three quarters of the way at her belly. She watched the starts come out as the sky faded to a inky black.

((Skip to morning or something? Trying to figure out how it would go wrong...))

((Sure.))

If she needed anything, Solessa brought her some water and rations. When morning came, the camp smelled of cooked ham. Xel had a slab of ham over the fire. Solessa was adjusting her bow sitting in front of the tent Neiva was in.

"Something smells good...." She came out, the vail was up on her hat, showing her face, but still covering it in shadow. She had on a brown skirt and white blouse that rivals her skin. She smiled at Solessa. "Good morning, sleep well? Any.... ransom money yet?"

Matt was gathering wood as everyone else sat down to eat as Rob crashed through the trees holding a two letters, one sealed with the crest of her family, the other grubby and looked like someone sealed it with their thumb. "Here yah go boss."
