Another person who's apparently been on the forums for longer than I have but whom I haven't seen since I started counting here!  Hi!

XD You made me look it up! I knew I had heard of it, but couldn't remember what it was. Welcome!

42... heh heh.

Actually, after typing that, I went and checked Urban Dictionary, just to be sure Douglas(s?) Adams didn't get it from somewhere else, which would have probably been less appropriate to reference here.  If he did, the "answer to life, the universe, and everything" has certainly eclipsed any old meanings.

forty-three which may not be the answer to much of anything ;)

44

If someone asks "what's a 'Schnapszahl'?" then 44 works as well as any other number - better than some, in fact.

Annnd 23 x 2.  It is not exactly a well-balanced number diverse in factors.

forty-seven is even more unbalanced -- 47x1 -- XD

But 48!  Ah, 48!

Not only is it divisible by two and by three, it is a multiple of the fourth power of two!  The fairest form it takes, methinks, is of eight by six - or six by eight, if that's your cup of tea.

And having wheeled from the poetic to the idiomatic, I will submit my reply and cease my babbling.
