DC Photography Contest #106, Theme: Unappreciated

Recommended Posts

I suppose since I won the last one, that puts me up for starting the new thread! biggrin.gif

The theme this time is 'unappreciated'. This can mean objects which are rarely photographed, animals which most people find unappealing, or even people doing jobs that no one really appreciates (hello waitressing!). If you use people, please only post photos you took with permission of the people featured in it. An example photo for the theme: Macro of the inside of bark.

TRIGGER WARNING: It is quite possible this thread may contain images of insects, spiders, and other animals people might have a fear of! Please read the link captions before clicking on an photo link!

When it comes time to vote, I would ask that people please vote for photos that both represent the theme well AND are of good quality rather than choosing something only because you like the object being photographed. (e.g. just because you love rocks, and it is a photo of a rock, it does not mean it is necessarily a good quality photo of a rock).

The rules:

- One entry per person

- Picture has to be made by yourself and can't be just a reproduction of someone's work. If someone else's work is in the picture, there needs to be something extra.

- No manipulation besides basic photo adjustments (contrast, exposure, cropping, color balance, lighting, etc.)

- No text or framing in the photo. A signature/watermark is just fine, but it's preferable if you don't have "O Hai Eye Hav3 T3XT" (or something similar) present in the photo.

- When voting, please don't select your own image. This will ensure fairness.

- You are free to submit an old photo; you don't need to take a new one just for this competition.

Deadline is May 4th to get your photos in.

I find that bees are unappreciated by most, but without them over 2/3 of our food supply would be gone.

Happy Bee

Changing my photo, I like this one better.

I love the parasitoid wasp picture! May I ask what lens you used? Those things are really tiny!

It's a tamron 70-300mm macro zoom lens, or my pervert lens as I like to call it! It's excellent for taking pictures of really small things quite far away.. like bugs!

My entry is cobweb. I don't think spider is that grossing, but this pic doesn't contain any spider. Edited by sh20000sh

I understand it's essential to know, but I detest advanced math such as trigonometry and calculus so much. They're my most least favorite subject. I'm sure many people dislike these as well. Trigonometry (apologies to those that do like math!)
