SUNDERED SKIES: Fall of Salem || ACCEPTING

Recommended Posts

Thrannek took a few shots towards the ship, some thorns coming back and bouncing off of his metal plating. "It is possible that the Willow Queen wishes to acquire something of ours by force, however I may only speculate on what that might be."

"Who cares, dammit! I be not goin' easy on them whatever t' reason may not be!" Yarzoth replied to the automaton and fired a blind shot from his dragon blunderbuss in direction of the ship. "Me thinks you might be right though, yet it be not important now. Show your blades, scoundrels!" He yelled the last part of his sentence to the sihp that was approaching them.

CAPTAIN BIRKITA SHATTERBLADE

The captain flicked a clump of hair out of her eyes and raised her flintlock pistols. She glanced down the barrel of each one, her eyes flicking from the guns to the ship ahead. Nearer... nearer... The blood roared in her ears, but not loud enough to hear the comotion around her. She turned to study her crew; preparing for combat... perhaps more excitably than usual. It had been awhile since they'd had a chance to spill some blood.

"I do believe one of us has a bounty on our heads," she called over the roar of the engine and shouts from the enemy ship. "The Willow Queen never did like pirates. Perhaps now is the time to remind her why!"

As the ships came closer and closer, Birkita reached out with one hand and grabbed onto one of the ropes dangling from the masts. "Hold on to something, this is gonna get rough!"

The ships collided with an enormous SHUNK.

Zefel tumbled onto the deck of the enemy ship and somehow landed it perfectly. He picked himself off of the floor and snatched his flintlocks in one hand. The impact caused a loose rope to fly off of the ship, and he caught it and tied it to the rail of the Oakthorn ship so the others could cross. Zefel turned on his heel and faced his opponents. The Bloodfall Blade was badly outnumbered, but Zefel was a pirate. There was no way he'd back down.

..::SERRA::..

The fragile looking automaton climbed up the stairs from below to the deck, having heard quite a lot of commotion going on overhead as he worked. As various crew members ran past, he caught snippets of their talk, and so he grasped their basic situation. Looking out to the void, he saw the ship they were all speaking of. The Willow Queen.

At the Captain's shout, Serra grabbed onto the railing and braced himself. As the Willow Queen slammed against them, he was roughly jolted, but otherwise was perfectly fine.

Do we attack or...? Serra blinked and looked to the Captain, wondering what she had in mind. Of course, the Willow Queen was not going to wait around for Serra to get a move on. Since Zefel had decided to go in guns blazing, they were much obliged to reply in full. A bullet whizzed past Serra's face, nearly clipping his cheek. He raised his arm, palm out, fingers spread. A glow gathered at his palm, building and roiling within itself, and then a great blast of fire shot from his hand and slammed into a pair of the Willow Queen's men. They dropped to the ground, screaming.

"No, no, no!" Maestyriel shrieked, the female elf losing her composure before pinching the bridge of her nose as if in great distress, sighing deeply. Once again calm and collected, she began to speak.

"You cannot possibly think you can dare attack the ship of the great--" The collision of the two ships had taken her by surprise, Maestyriel too involved in thinking up her next big speech rather than paying attention to the movement of the Bloodfall Blade. She stumbled, slamming harshly into the side of the railing before regaining her footing, hissing out a breath of pain. The elf could feel her headache growing worse by the second, and as Zefel and Serra began actually getting onto the ship the elf could only sigh.

"I think I'm going to faint," she muttered to no one in particular, wincing as she watched her kin cower in fear from the suddenly brutal attacks. "Barbaric--I say--I can't--You can't expect--" Unable to form actual sentences, the elf only angrily stomped around the deck. Oh, what a sight.

"Ooooh." Pastel had grabbed onto a rope hanging from the mast as well, and eagerly let himself be dragged along with the swinging actions of the ships as they collided. He enjoyed the feeling of gushing through the air again, and again, until at last he'd decided he had enough. Looking down, he saw that his teammates had begun attacking--well, better late than never!

He landed onto the deck of the Bloodfall Blade, and, with a bit of a struggle, Pastel threw off his overcoat and dumped it casually along the deck somewhere, making a mental note to find it later.

"Stay," he told his beloved coat, as if that would make it not flutter away in the wind, and ran towards the rope tying the two ships together.

"Thanks, Zefel!" he shouted at the other before eagerly running past him, idiotically heading straight towards the crew when--

A large fireball nearly ignited him right there and then, and, blinking, the boy allowed a few moments of shock to set in before whirling around to see where that had come from.

He saw Serra with an arm raised, smoke curling around in the after of such an explosion, and Pastel waved cheerily before drawing a multitude of small daggers from within his clothes.

"Nice to see you out and about!" he shouted, waving the daggers around as if knife danger was not a thing in his book.

He looked around--well, they were outnumbered. "Oops," the boy muttered, backing up slowly until he was within reach of the rope, ready to head back to the Bloodfall Blade if need be. Pastel could be reckless at times, but he still liked breathing, thank you very much. He stared at the elves before him, all who were still slightly shocked from flying fireballs, and cocked his head. Who would attack first?

CORLISS MCELWEE AND SINNEFAIN

Not knowing the blow was coming and focused on keeping the engine in one piece, Corliss slammed against part of the engine when the ships rammed together. Her eyes unfocused for just a moment with the pain, but she was quickly back on her feet, a string of curses flowing from her lips. The engine wasn't happy about that hit, either, from the noises it was making...

Sinnefain was glad that she'd had her back to the wall of the ship when the ships hit. From this angle, the cannons were useless... she somewhat hated when they decided to ram ships together, because it always made her feel (however temporarily) useless. She looked out the cannon hole, seeing only the hull of the other ship. She quickly pulled her head back in, and waited for her chance.

The tension was so thick it could be cut with a dagger. Everyone was so startled by Serra's fire blast that they forgot to fight temporarily. Zefel took advantage of the shock to slowly back towards Pastel and the rope. Zefel whispered, "It's a quickdraw. Be-" but he was interrupted when an arrow whipped past his face and embedded itself in the hull of the Oakthorn ship.

The ships collided and the drakin almost fell over because of the power with which they smashed. "That's what me's talkin' about!" Yarzoth yelled as he dodged the fireball that Serra shot. The elves panicked - a fire on their ship truly disorientated them as a big part of their crew was burning. However, they still were attacking them; seeing it the alchemist pulled out a potion labeled 'FIRE'. "Take cover, lads!" He shouted to his crew mates as he threw the bottle in direction of their enemies. When it was nearing the Willow Queen, the drakin shot his dragon blunderbuss at it, hoping that at least one shot would hit the potion mid-air.

Somehow, one bullet managed to collide with the bullet and a rain of liquid fire rained at the elves that were attacking them, igniting quite a part of the crew of the attackers. "Eat flame, ye scurvy dogs!" He shouted at them.

Zefel flinched as a drop of liquid fire hit him on the shoulder. He hollered back towards the Blade, "Damn it, Yarzoth! Watch where you throw that thing!" An Oakthorn took advantage of the distraction and walloped him with a hammer from behind. The impact of the blow knocked him to the ground, and he had just enough time to roll over to the side before the same Oakthorn delivered another blow. While the elf was pulling his hammer out of the floorboards, Zefel charged up a shot from his modified flintlock and fired it. The blast should've knocked the Oakthorn off of his feet, but from carrying a hammer around all day, he was sturdy and merely stumbled, and retaliated with thorns fired off from his armor. A few snagged on Zefel's shoulder, but he dodged most of them... into another Oakthorn. This one jabbed him in the eye with the hilt of his sword, causing him to stumble backwardsinto a pile of rope. The same hammer-wielding Oakthorn from before leaned over him. I'm screwed, Zefel thought, and the last thing he saw was the Oakthorn's foot.

((Don't worry, Yarzoth's on the way to fix what he has done xd.png))

"Oh, ye scurvy dogs!" Yarzoth cursed as he saw the elves that outnumber Zefel, who has apparently fainted. Without further hesitation he started running, took out his curved dagger and threw it while running at the elf with a hammer who wanted to do a final blow to his crew mate. It hit him in the chest, causing the weapon that he had to drop behind him, making no harm to the navigator of the Blade. After throwing his weapon he immediately began to load his dragon blunderbuss with a shot, allowing him to shoot one more shot at the attackers surrounding Zefel. Then he approached the navigator and took the second bottle he had, labeled 'ACID'. "Hands off, censorkip.gif***s! Yarzoth shouted as he opened the bottle and spilled the liquid around him, making every attacker surrounding him cower in pain. Then he took his dagger from the corpse and sliced another one's side as he tried to approach him from behind. "Come on now, show me what ye got! He threatened the elves around, who were already few in number.

CAPTAIN BIRKITA SHATTERBLADE

Before the Captain could intervene, and before the unfortunate Oakthorn elves could issue their demands, the crew of the Blade was beginning to swarm the deck of the enemy ship. Birkita strutted over to the edge of the ship and kicked down the plank of wood they used to board other ships, perhaps with a bit too much attitude. She stamped across it and glared through the din. Every ship of the Willow Queen's had a captain, so where were they...?

The dwarf chewed on her lower lip for a moment before her turquoise eyes fell on a distinguished figure. The Oakthorn captains had a tendency to adorn themselves in rich fabrics and feathers from some unfortunate beast of the Skies. It made them stick out, even amongst the typically high-class uniforms all Willow Queen loyalists wore. The captain of this particular ship was tall and lanky as befitted any elf, and he was armed with a blunderbuss and a rapier. He was trying to keep his ship under control... and failing quite spectacularly.

Birkita raised her voice and snarled, "YOU! You fired on my bloody ship! What the hell do you want?"

The captain whipped around as if surprised to see her there. His green eyes blazed in a mixture of fear and anger. "We fired on you?! When we turned around we saw your ship on a collision course! Our cannons haven't been armed in weeks! Something fired on us too!"

"Ex-excuse me?" Birkita replied.

That explained why the Oakthorn elves seemed reluctant to fight. But if they hadn't fired on the Bloodfall Blade, who--or what--had? Over the din of combat, Birkita swore she heard the gentle, wailing moan of something in the void.

"Everyone, shut up!" she shouted, hoping both sides would hear.

Thrannek dropped the Oakthorn he had been holding in the air by the neck, becoming almost statue-like as he listened to what the Captain had to say. "If the elf-organics did not utilize their weapons on our vessel, what did?" His dead eyes swept the sky, looking for a cloud of smoke that could lead to another vessel.

Serra had fired off another round at the Oakthorns, and in return, a pistol shot buried itself in his shoulder. He glanced at it for but a moment before getting ready to aim again.

"Everyone, shut up!"

Serra froze, struck by the order. The Oakthorn elves had been readying themselves to attack him, when they too heard the order. Both sides looked at their captains in confusion. To Serra, the captain looked a little nervous as she peered into the surrounding void on all sides of them. Was there something amiss? Serra too turned his gaze elsewhere, trying to see if there was something wrong. And then, he caught a glimpse of something. He saw it for just a brief moment, a flash or, or was it a shape? He couldn't be sure. he tried to pinpoint it again in the voidlight.

Jackie and Rankor and Galton

They all held back for a moment until the Captain shouted "Shut up!" Jackie held back his eyes full of hatred. Rankor was a little shocked a the captain's harsh tone. Galton grunted and put his hammer down. They all held their breath waiting for the next move. Rankor turned and saw something shadowing some of the void light. His muscles tensed, he was ready to fight.
