2x2 Mages and Romance

Recommended Posts

The government of another world where magic exists but can only used only by a small minority has outlawed its use. Mages are given a choice: join a task force and help the government imprison other mages using their magic, or be imprisoned themselves. Two mages are torn between the two sides and one ends up imprisoning the other despite the fact they once had another relationship (Either romance or friendship, depending on the preference).

This goes on for a year until people start being killed off mysteriously in dark alleys. Magic is suspected but the only one with leads is the mage who was imprisoned.

The World

This world is called Aevithan and it is infused with magic. It flows in the air, the ground and the water but most people do not realize it. Only a few are gifted with the ability to see and utilize it, though. These people are known as Mages and they frighten normal people because their power is unusual and strange.

The world of Aevithan is a combination of fantasy and future. Animals like unicorns and basilisks roam the areas outside of civilization known as the Wilds while humans exist in various cities that dot the countryside. These cities are usually made out of stone and wood and resemble the larger buildings tend to resemble castles. However, the humans that live there have advanced technology hiding under simplistic appearances and are capable of creating holograms, forcefield and a variety of advanced weaponry. Still, these are usually used by the government, not the masses and people tend to leave a much simpler life. People can live outside of the cities of Aevithan but it is dangerous out there and most do not survive.

The Prison

The prison is a tall structure with no windows and only one door leading in and out. It looks like a massive cube constructed of dark bricks. Instead of allowing magic to flow through them to the inside of the prison, the bricks draw in the magic instead, meaning no magic can get inside to the Mages trapped there. The stones are made from an ore found deep in the Earth and the prison used all of the ore available so it is the only place in Aevithan devoid of magic. It holds only Mages and each prison cell is a small cube made of the same stone as the outside. The cubes hold a small cot, a toilet and a sink. The doors of the cells have bars over a small window, a small gap near the bottom and are made of stone. The gap is used to deliver food to the prisoners, which is served three times per day.

The Task Force

The Task Force was created by Aevithan's government as soon as they finished construction on the prison. It is basically special police that investigate magic-related affairs. Anything that could possibly relate to a Mage ultimately falls into their hands since they need to make sure all magic is kept under wraps and Mages are either in prison or have joined the task force. When there are not intense jobs like hunting down rogue Mages, the task force is charged with maintaining the fact that magic is illegal. This includes rounding up all texts related to magic and keeping tabs on children that could possibly have magical talents. These are all very much side jobs, though, and do not occupy much time of the Mages.

Aside from this, the task force doesn't do all that much. During their free time, Mages can do mostly what they like and some choose to refine their art but more are recruited to help the government in other ways, such as using their magic to build walls or destroy old buildings. They are always kept busy with odd jobs but regulating the law that states magic is illegal is their real duty.

The task force has headquarters that resembles a castle. It's constructed from white stone and rests about three miles from the prison. The inside of the building is comfortable and each Mage has their own bedroom with a queen sized bed. The hallways have tapestries and paintings and in the middle of the building, there is a large library filled with the contraband material the task force has collected. Several study rooms can be found in the castle for the Mages to study in and the entire place is quite comfortable looking.

The Mages

So the way mages work is that the world itself is covered with magic. It naturally exists in the air. What mages do is take the magic from the world and convert it into what they like before releasing it as a spell. They cannot store magic in their bodies for long, only redirect it.

What Mages can do is enchant objects. Books and other things can be infused with magic. The magic that these objects hold is limited but it is useful for adding magical properties to objects or simply storing magic for later use.

Mages do need to be careful, however. Using magic too often or incorrectly can cause magic to become contaminated. This is known as Taint or Contamination. As its name suggests, it contaminates other things, causing them to become Tainted themselves. Taint spreads at an alarming rate and Mages generally do not know what to do with it so Mages that are attempting potentially risky experiments, they will usually venture into the wilds to prevent the Taint from affecting human cities or their homes.

Task Force Ranking

Recruit

This rank is given to incoming Task Force members who have been approved by the Task Force yet. This is the lowest rank and gives the mage the same rights as a human. It is immediately promoted to Apprentice as soon as the mage's paperwork is finalized. Most mages spend only a few days as a recruit.

Apprentice

Apprentice is the first "real" rank of the Task Force and grants the Apprentice immunity to the magical contraband law for using basic spells in the field. They are assigned in pods of 2-3 to a higher ranking member who gives them basic missions. With a recommendation or an outstanding feat, they are promoted to the next rank. Most mages spend anywhere from three weeks to two years as an Apprentice. They are not given access to contraband materials and can only enter the prison with an Senior Officer.

Officer

This is the first rank where mages are given access to some contraband materials and prisoners of level 1 or 2. They carry out the largest number of missions within the Task Force and usually end up finding and retrieving contraband material. They also are given missions to track down low-powered mages and arrest them. Most mages tend to spend several years as an Officer as they are only promoted when they arrest a high-powered mage or take an extensive exam. They are given immunity to the magical contraband law for basic spells both in and out of the field, as well as specialty spells for in the field.

Senior Officer {This is the Rank of Esko and Rosaline}

Senior Officers are Officers who have proven their worth to the Task Force. As such, they are given full access to the prison and contraband materials. All Senior Officers are assigned with a pod of Apprentices who they divvy out missions to. These officers are assigned to collect unruly or powerful mages and send them to the prison and are also assigned to cases that may or may not relate to magic, such as unsolvable murders. They have full access to the prison and may travel in and out of there as they please. Most mages in this role are randomly promoted when an Inspector or Veteran Inspector dies or retires.

Inspector [Only 2]

Inspectors are the first of the only two "desk jobs" in the Task Force. They are randomly promoted Senior Officers who are assigned to study contraband materials and mages in order to find better ways to contain them. This means most of their work is out of the field, however, they will be called in as a last resort if there is a particularly dangerous criminal at large. They have authority over all of the positions below them and also are tasked to hand out missions Senior Officers and Officers. Nothing in the Task Force is off limits to them and they can freely remove prisoners from the prison. They are also assigned to make sure the prison is fully functioning and conduct random inspections on both the prison and lower ranks to make sure they are both functioning properly.

Veteran Inspector [Only 1]

The Veteran Inspector is, for all intensive purposes, the head of the Task Force. When they retire or die, one inspector is chosen to become the new Veteran Inspector. Nothing is off limits for them and they report directly to the government to ask for more materials and everything else. They are also the only person who can "pardon" prisoners. This act involves taking a prisoner and releasing them under the condition they join the magical police. Their duty is largely off field as they act as a regulator for the magical police, ensuring that nothing is amiss and there are no major threats to the civilization. The Veteran Inspector tends to be the most powerful mage in the entire Task Force as they have access to knowledge that is forbidden or secret, even among other members.

Head of Task Force [Only 1]

This is the only ranking in the Task Force given to a human. The Head of the Task Force is a member of the government who manages the affairs of the Task Force. They tend not to do very much in regards to actual magical conductivity but they hold authority over all of the rest of the Task Force.

Prisoner Ranking

Level 0

These mages can hardly be called mages. Usually, these are people with untapped magical abilities who themselves did not even realize they were mages. These people are rarely in the prison, since they usually join the Task Force as soon as they realize they are mages. Their magical ability is low since they have not studied for long. They are housed on the highest level of the prison during their (usually) brief stays.

Level 1

These mages are capable of basic magic. They pose little threat to higher members of the task force but can cause trouble for an apprentice. They are housed on the second highest level of the prison and sometimes visited to encourage them to join the Task Force. They tend to be mages that are more commonly pardoned because they are not as dangerous and already have a basic understanding of magic. of magic.

Level 2

These mages possessed contraband material. There are usually very few Level 2 prisoners as most choose to join the Task Force in exchange for information or compliance in handing over their material. Their understanding of magic can range from basic to high but they tend not to pose too much of a threat to anyone.

Level 3 {Elliot and Braxton are here}

These mages have specialty magic and can wield it very easily. They are considered dangerous based on their mastery of their abilities but caused limited damage during their capture. They are housed on the second lowest level of the prison and are rarely visited.

Level 4

These mages caused considerable damage during their capture and are considered actively dangerous despite being contained. This is usually because they are unruly prisoners and will attack whomever enters their cell. They are locked in the basement of the prison and tend not to be disturbed.

Characters

Username: MyaMouse

Name: Braxton Chame (Chay-me)

Age:22

Gender: Male

Appearance: Almost 6 feet tall with deep, intelligent ivy eyes and wavy brown hair, Braxton is an exceptionally good-looking guy, if I do say so myself. He wears a simple green scarf with his clothes, and tends to wear a smile, but he's not always happy. He has pale skin and wears a leather jacket with his scarf, jeans, and grey tee-shirt. He does have other clothes, but he's fine with grey shirts and jeans. His curly bangs partially cover one eye.

Mage Type: ((Holy Funyuns that description was long.))

Botanokinesis/Plantbending/whatever you call Plant Magic

Personality: Mostly Rp'd, but he's mostly a peacekeeper although being a good laugh and very fun to be around. He wears a grin, mostly, but he's got a secret that only his partner knows under his happy expression. He's a charmer and a ladies' man, even though he only loves one person. ((I believe it's Mint but I don't know names yet..)) He always has a light air about him, and he seems to act carefree albeit being imprisoned.

Noteworthy History: His secret is really simple. Do me a favor and don't make your character know it unless you are his partner. He was born with the power of Fire and Life magic. The reason he chose Life to be his only power was because he had a twin sister who had Ice magic for her power. When they were about 5, they were playing and he accidentally hit her with a fireball. She melted faster than an ice cube on the sidewalk at 1pm on the summer solstice. Very specific, but it's accurate. He then, in grief, went to a secret Blood mage who removed all Fire from him and strengthened the Life in him, letting him create plants and heal things and create spores from a breath for a favor. He's still to live up to said favor, but the Blood Mage is getting fed up.

Other: I'm so tired. I'll edit this later, but for now that's all I've got in me for the time being.

Username: Esko_the_Wolf

Name: Esko ((I KNOW I USE IT A LOT DON'T HARP ON ME FOR IT MEH))

Age: 24

Gender: Male

Appearance: ugh, tried to draw him but failed miserably, so here we go. He is tall, with messy brown hair and not too much muscle. His eyes are a glowing green. He wears a cloak and a wolf mask all the time, but if you see the real him, you see that he has a scar on his right eye, sealing it shut. He has wolf ears and tail because of a failed magic expiriment.

Mage Type: Dark Skillz

Personality: honestly, I stink at describing personalities and sticking with them, so can I make it to be rp'd?

Noteworthy History: Him and his twin sister were born mages and had to keep their identities secret their whole lives or suffer the consequences. They always lived on the streets, stealing to survive. One day, when they were 18, they were caught by mages of the Task Force. His sister, being the stubborn meathead, charged into battle but was brutally killed, only managing to hurt one of the Task Force mages. Not able to do much else, and it being daytime, Esko had no choice but to either be jailed or join the Task Force. He joined the Task Force, and sometimes regrets joining the one who 'killed the only family he had'.

Other: Sorry, my twin thing is being used more and more .-.

Username: pudding

Name: Elliot Burwell

Age: 23

Gender: Male

Appearance: Elliot is a tall, lanky man with longer, untidy hair. While it has been offered multiple times to have it cut during his imprisonment, he prefers his hair to the point where it can hang down beyond his shoulders. While originally he would dye some parts of it, the color has faded out, leaving his hair all dark brown. His eyes are a similar color and his face is as cleanly shaved as the prison allows. His skin is darker in tone and his outfit, as standard, is a simple grey shirt with matching pants. Both of his hands and wrists are wrapped in bandages, along with his stomach. These bandages are the only magical item still on his person and, in order to be sure he doesn't somehow utilize them somehow for a spell, his hands are cuffed behind his back except when he is eating. Under these bandages, the Taint has already started to infect other parts of his body. Purple and black veins seem to extend out from two small circles on his wrists and one circle on his stomach and extend for a few inches in each direction, giving his skin there a very unusual appearance.

Mage Type: Taint Mage Taint, or contamination, is an ancient type of magic that is produced as a direct result of other magic going horribly wrong. While rare in civilized areas, it will occasionally appear in places where magic has backfired or where the land has built up too much magical residue. It is characterized by being a heavily unstable but massive source of energy that quite literally infects landscapes like a parasite. Taint infects host plants and animals living in the contaminated areas, giving them extra strength and magical abilities but deteriorating their bodies and minds until they simple fade away into more taint, allowing it to multiply. Because of this, Magic involving Taint is unique even among Mages since it sends to be something to be avoided, not studied. It also poses a serious threat to the user since they can just as easily deteriorate if they let the Taint run rampant. As a Taint Mage, Elliot specializes in using Taint as a weapon by infecting other objects and causing them to corrode into more Taint. Since it is dangerous, Elliot tends to fall back on much more basic spells unless the situation is especially dire. This tends to make him much weaker than other Mages since his reluctance to use his full force has more than once lost him a battle and many people simply assume he has no specialty.

Personality: Elliot is best described as cranky. While not outright aggressive with most people, he does tend to glare and holds very long grudges. A years time of sitting in prison has not done well for this attitude, making him especially irritable and sometimes even violent (Though it depends on the person). On the flip side, however, having the person he loves be part of the cause of him ending up in prison has not done wonders for his self-esteem and it's completely plummeted. He tends to be pretty broody and skeptical overall, just combined with the memory of an elephant.

Noteworthy History: Elliot was young when he discovered his talent for magic and it didn't take long for him to make a mistake. His parents were no mages and before he could meant a proper one to tell him any differently, he found a land that had been corrupted by Taint due to magical malpractice in that area. When studying its interaction with animals and plants, he ended up fusing the taint just above his belly button and in the palms of his hands. While this originally yielded interesting results, he quickly realized his mistake in that the taint started to spread and he realized all of the things that had been infused with taint died when it was left be. Desperate for a solution, he ended up wrapping the contaminated body parts with magic-infused bandages. These act as a temporary solution to his problem, however, the infection will eventually overpower them and spread across his body to kill him. Whenever he uses Taint Magic, he has to untie one of the bandages to expose the Taint. However, he mostly keeps it under wraps (Haha) and only uses it apprehensively because he knows the more he uses it, the farther it will spread and the closer he'll come to death.

Username: BlueMint

Name: Rosalie King

Age: 21

Gender: Female

Appearance: Rosalie is around 5 feet 6 inches tall but she is slim and it makes her seem a little taller. She has wavy dark brown hair that almost reaches her waist. However, since joining the task force, she tends to put it up in a ponytail to keep it out of the way even though she hates to; it makes her feel exposed somehow. She has very fair skin that, much to her dislike, does not tan. Her eyes are light brown but a hint of forest green is also there. Since joining the task force, she wears a lot of black. Her outfit usually consists of black pants, a black shirt, and black boots that almost reach her knees; nothing fancy. She is always seen wearing a silver necklace and from it hangs a deep blue gem.

Mage Type: Rosalie specializes in water magic and can use it in all of its three three forms. Her preferred form is ice since she finds it easier to handle than the other two, not to mention that it is the most effective weapon. However, she is just as good in all three.

Personality: (Will mostly roleplay it out since Im not good at describing personalities but Ill just try and give the general thing) Rosalie can be very sarcastic. She is nice and calm but she's independent and a natural leader and as such can come off as bossy at times. She is extremley stubborn which can really annoy some people but she could care less. She speaks her mind most of the time and that can get her into some real trouble. She knows how to control her temper but it certanley isnt pretty when she finally snaps but that rarley happens. Her personality may be that way because her parents are lawyers.

However, Rose also has a nice side to her that her close friends actually get to know. She loves to have fun and have a good laugh. She is also very protective of others whether she knows them well or not.

Noteworthy History: (eh... Dont think so though I may come up with something as the plot continues)

Other:

Username: littlelizzie

Name: Macey Crockett (his actual name is Macallister, but he hates it and goes with Macey)

Age: 20, but almost 21

Gender: male

Appearance: Macey has light blond, sort of white, hair. His bangs tend to fall into his face and his hair falls to cover his ears. The hair against his neck curls naturally and he often tries to get it to lay flat. He brushes his hair behind his ears often, and wears clips, headbands or ties his hair up to keep his bangs out of his eyes. He has blue eyes which often look gray, but sometimes they can be a beautiful dark blue or a vibrant light blue. His skin is pale and covered in freckles, which he gets whenever he is out in the sun for some time. He is 5'7'' and quite thin. Meaning, if he bends over you can see his backbone through his clothes (if he's wearing light clothing). He tends to wear skinny jeans with any top he wears, and his favorite top to wear is any warm sweater. He also enjoys wearing hoodies and boots. For his Task Force attire, he wears black skinny jeans, a dark gray dress shirt and a black vest that's a little big for him. He weaks combat boots with this outfit also. He carries a backpack with him always, and in this backpack are contents that shall remain a mystery for now. Also, he wears a bracelet that never leaves his body.

Mage Type: Spirit Mage. Macey can manipulate spirits to his will. He usually does this by fusing them with an object, typically a book, and then summons the spirit whenever he needs to use them to help. He tells the spirit what he wants it to do, which is generally just a few words, and then let's it do what it must. He kind of sits back and watches it do it's work, but he can intervene by summoning another spirit or even pulling one from the air and commanding it to help. He is very good at his magic, and this surprises many other mages (both because of his young age and his skill level). He is also the only person he knows that can see spirits AND control them.

Personality: Macey is very timid and shy, tending to be soft spoken and last to speak in a conversation. Almost the complete opposite of what you'd think of a Task Force member, he is kind hearted and does not enjoy violence. Whenever anyone needs to capture a Mage, he only backs them up and tries to remain hidden from the Mage the group is capturing. He also doesn't tell any of his spirits to severely injure a Mage and mostly tells them to distract the Mage. He is very hard to anger and gets embarrassed by the littlest things, which sometimes annoys people. He is more open with his friends and can be mischievous. He also likes to be friendly and loves physical contact with his friends, often hugging them and pulling them along places. He seems more hyper and open when with friends. However, despite his friendliness and mischieviousness, he is still soft spoken, last to speak (in most cases) and can become very shy.

Noteworthy History: I have something in mind and will add it later.

Other: Obviously, he can see spirits. He sometimes communicates with them, but only does this when he is alone. He is also a spirit magnet and may get bothered by them, which will put him in a bad mood.

I'd say early twenties but anything over 18 is fine with me. It depends on preference, though. It's just younger teenagers really shouldn't be left solving crimes and teenage Mages wouldn't have enough experience as an overall to be qualified as a Mage.

Here are the forms, btw:

Username:
Name:
Age:
Gender:
Appearance: (Pictures or descriptions are fine)
Mage Type: (This is what kind of magic they specialize in. Feel free to go nuts with this but please specify what they're known for. Elemental Mages, for example, would be highly specialized in things related to the elements. Basically, Mages can use a lot of magic but they specialize in one area where they can't be beat. For example, a basic mage might be able to conjure up a fireball but a Fire Mage would beat them easily because its their specialty. As a few more examples, Blood Mages use blood as a catalyst for magic and is usually related to voodoo and controlling people while Runic mages use ancient runes to amplify their magic. Basically, have fun and be creative. This also can act as a title so make it unique!)
Personality: (Optional but a few words is preferred)
Noteworthy History: (This is just for anything very pressing that needs to be said outside of plot details)

((I think we're starting here, if not then I'll delete it.))

Braxton sighed. He had asked for a metal bar on the roof of his 'cell,' and now he was hanging from it upside down. He saw his love, Rosalie, outside but he daren't call for her. Instead he just hung, his legs wrapped around the bar, his shirt tucked in his pants and his jacket on the cot. He stayed like that until his legs got tired and he was too heartbroken to look at Rosalie, as he didn't know that she and Elliot's love was planning to get Braxton and his cell-neighbor and friend Elliot out. Climbing off the bar without magic was not an easy task, let me tell you. He had fallen down the first few times he had tried, but now he was confident he had mastered it. He placed his hands down, lifted his legs up, took a few - Steps? Something - forwards, but when he tried to flip over he fell down. He sighed. When would he learn?

Rubbing his thigh, he walked over to the cot and sat; he was thinking about the betrayal he felt when Rosalie went to the 'dark' side. He sighed. If only he had his magic, he could just snap his fingers and a plant would blossom, not only bringing him a tiny sliver of joy but also if he grew the right plant he could just make a sleeping potion to make him sleep at night. He shook those thoughts out of his mind, and returned to his normal, carefree self. He stretched out on his cot, even though he knew he wouldn't sleep, and instead began to draw a picture of Kathea, his poor baby sister. If she were here, she'd scold be about calling her a baby, he thought. He sighed. What is with me today? What are all these unhappy thoughts?! He shoved them down deep inside of him where he'd never find it, and smiled. That's better. I wonder what's up outside. I keep hearing things. Maybe another Mage capturing. I need a new cellmate after Deki transferred He chuckled. He wished he'd been allowed to keep his phone. He was so bored right now.

((The only thing that I have to note is that this is technically another world, not ours. You're right about it being futuristic but companies like Apple wouldn't exist. Imagine it looking like a fantasy city with old stone buildings and castles but people have futuristic technology like guns and forcefields as well. There's also fantasy creatures like unicorns and dragons and censorkip.gif.

Also, Amara was correct with deleting her earlier posts. Can you all do that? I'm not going to make an OOC because we only have four people. I don't think we need one.

I am going to add details to the first post about the world and magic, though. It seems easier that way so everything is sorted out there.))

He felt empty. Not for any emotional reason, but physically. Being a Mage meant being able to feel the magic in the world itself. It was in the air, the earth, the water. Manipulating it was as easy as breathing and he had grown used to feeling it as a part of him. And he hadn't truly realized what he had until it was gone and he had been brought to the prison, betrayed and beaten.

At first, he laughed at the prison. Even in this state, what did they think they could do? The law did not allow for the execution of Mages, that would have caused too much of an uproar. It didn't matter where they kept him, he'd just escape with his magic. It wouldn't take too long to rest and then tear down the stones. But that thought only lasted until they led him inside.

The first step had taken his breath away and by the third, he had collapsed on the ground in shock, curled in on himself as he tried to grasp at magic that did not seem to exist within the prison walls.

It was only later on that he discovered that the prison was built specifically for Mages. It kept the magic out. How that worked was beyond him but the fact was it worked and he was stuck, arms tied behind his back so he couldn't make use of the bandages tied around his wrists. It wasn't like they contained enough magic to escape and even if he did try to use it, he'd need to expose what they hid. He wasn't willing to take that risk. Even when it came to his friends, he didn't like to disclose what was under the bandages wrapped around his stomach and arms. The only one who he had ever told was him.

Grunting slightly, he shook his head and tried to settle back down into the corner he often sat down on. The cot nearby only mocked him, really. He could hardly sleep on it properly with his arms bound so he had gradually adjusted to falling asleep in the corner with one head resting against the cold, stone wall. Sitting in general occupied most of his time now since there was little else to do in the prison. He'd probably die from boredom faster than anything else. The prisons had very little to do in them other than sit… and sit… and glare at people if he was feeling especially irritable.

((After the long wait, I finally put him up! He's in the first post I made. I'll post as him tomorrow, right now I'm going to sleep. (I don't think there should be anything wrong with his magic, but if there is I'll edit it. I have an idea that involves his history which is why he has the magic he has.)))

Rosalie walked at a swift pace down the long hallways of the prison as she looked for Macey. The stone walls made her feel like something was missing in her but over the months, she had learned to ignore it as best as she could. However, every time she placed a foot in the prison, she couldn't help but wince at the emptiness she immediately felt. For the past half hour, she had been trying to find Macey but she had had no luck. She'd asked several of the other task force members but they hadn't seen him either which started worrying her. Finally, after rounding a corner, she caught sight of him. She sighed in relief and jogged toward him. "Crockett! Where in the world have you been?" She snapped as she frowned at him. She rarely called her friends by their last name but when she did, it usually meant she was quite upset. "Ive been looking all over the place for you! Have you been hiding from me or what?" She finally came to a stop in front of him and sighed. "Never mind," she said, shaking her head and rolling her eyes. She realized that finding out where he had been wasn't nearly as important or urgent as what she had to tell him. "Hey listen," she said in a serious voice as she grabbed his wrist to really get his attention. "I have bad news and good news." She bit her lip and glanced around them, making sure no one was near, before looking back up at him. "Which ones do you want to hear first?" She sighed, feeling somewhat tired from running all over the place in search of him, before continuing. "I suggest you hear the bad news first. Then maybe the good news will make more sense."

Still holding his wrist, she walked down the hallway until they reached the prison cells. She stopped just far enough so that the people in the cells couldn't hear what they were talking about.

Macey sighed as he rested his head against the brick wall. He had found a secluded place to just sit and rest. He opened his eyes to look around and hid a smile when he didn't see any spirits. The one place I can be free of them. He thought, hearing someones footsteps hurrying down the halls. He quickly averted his attention elsewhere, when he heard his friend yell at him. Annnd, she's pissed. He stood and smiled nervously at her, then nodded quickly when she asked if he was hiding at her. He then quickly realized he had said he was, indeed, hiding from her and shook his head no. "Wait, what?" He asked as she grabbed his wrist, then stumbled after her as she led him down the halls. They were going back towards the cells, which was the one place he didn't want to be. He hated the negative vibes he got from everyone. And he hated seeing him in the cell. He didn't object though and simply followed after Rosalie.

When she came to a stop he pulled his wrist out of her grasp and rubbed it, pouting at her. "Don't need to be so forceful." He muttered, glancing towards the cells. "Well, since you suggested the bad news first I'll ask for that. Or, I guess the good news?" He sighed and looked at Rosalie. "Just tell me your news."

((Don't worry about post length. I'm not fussy as long as it's not, like, two sentences.))

Elliot's head suddenly slipped down and he snapped awake at the sudden motion. The action of suddenly jerking backwards was very shortsighted, however, as his head slammed into the corner he had been sitting in. Unable to bring his hands up to cradle his head, he curled in on himself instead, drawing his knees close and grinding his teeth together. Ow, censorkip.gif! He hadn't realized he had fallen asleep leaning against the wall but his head slipping down the wall was startling enough to wake him up. Breathing heavily through his teeth, he tried to calm himself down as his head throbbed where he had accidentally hit it. It only took a few moments but, as with everything else in the prison, they seemed to stretch on forever.

But why, though? He knew it wasn't just him who had been betrayed and other mages were probably suffering as well in the prison but he felt like he had lost so much more than magic. He had offered up more than he had ever given anyone and for what? To be thrown aside? What did he do to deserve that? Lowering his head forward, he rested his forehead on the cold floor as his knees tucked under him, trying to curl up in the most comfortable position he could manage considering the state of his arms. It still hurt, even if he was angry and upset. Rage never got rid of the aching feeling, even if he tried to pretend it didn't exist.

(Okay. Thanks.)

Rosalie turned away from the cells and looked at Macey. She glanced down at his wrist and shrugged. "Sorry. I didn't mean it," she said sincerely. However, at this point she didn't have time to comfort him. Not when she had things to tell him about. She sighed and ran a hand through her dark hair, that happened to be down today. "The bad news..." She hesitated for a long moment, unsure of how he would take the news. "Well you already know about the weird killings that are going on." She sighed before continuing. "I come from the head quarters. While I was there, I found out that the leads the task force has about the killings, lead to either Elliot or Braxton. I cant tell which one." She shook her head and glanced at the cells behind her. "It wont be long until they start interrogating them. Im not sure what will happen afterwards." She looked at him again. "The good news is that I found out about that before the task force had a chance to react. We can talk to them." She knew talking to Elliot wouldn't be the easiest thing for either him or Macey but it had to be done. "We need to know if they may have any idea on why the leads are taking us to them." Quite frankly, she wasn't too eager to talk to either Elliot or Braxton. But she wasn't about to tell Macey that.

Braxton heard a very audible THUMP!!! resonated from Elliot's cell. "Hey, are you alright?" He called. "Can't have you dying on us now. That'd suck. I'd much rather have them let us live until they come to execute us, if they even do that. Not while there is still hope."

((Waiting for Rose to come up and say, "A hope that'll likely be squandered soon." Haha!) sorry for little post, I'm trying to maul my writer's block right now...)

The sound of Braxton's voice flickered into his cell from the small hole in the door. Of course, they hadn't be nice enough to give them an actual window to communicate through. Oh no, they had to shout out the door and hope their voice reached the cell next to them. It did but it was always horribly awkward and there was really no point to it. What were they worried the two of them would do? What, did they think Braxton would unwrap his arms? Stupid, normal people had no understanding of how magic worked.

But it wasn't like Braxton's words even made sense to him. Execute them? As if. The government couldn't do that or a good half of their taskforce would turn against them. Even the traitorous dogs knew that, deep down, they hadn't done anything wrong. Besides, what hope was he talking about? Hope that they'd be freed or hope that he'd kill him the instant he got out? Because both of them seemed more like a distant daydream than a reality. "Face the facts, Braxton," He replied, lifting his head up and calling towards the hole in the door. "There isn't any way to move past this point. It's not like we can get out on our own and I'd rather be executed than turn traitor." He'd give it another six months before his rage bubbled over and he tore the bandages around his stomach off with the corner of his cot just out of spite. He didn't want to hurt anyone but he didn't think he could take it any longer past that point.

"No, dummy. Hope that they'll come talk to us."

Braxton saw Rosalie and that annoying unhappiness returned. He closed his eyes and sighed, climbing back onto the bar backwards so he didn't have to look at her. "So I can question her. We both planned to not join...Traitorous jerk." He refrained from saying any more derogatory remarks before she heard him. "Oh, Rose. Why do I keep doing this?" He mumbled, mostly to himself. He wasn't referring to the bar. He was referring to refusing his feelings. "If I do this any longer I'll go insane."

He had a simple wire bracelet that they had taken away from him that had a sunflower charm on it with Rose's initials and a ruby heart. Rose had an identical one but it had his initials on it. They had taken it from him because he apparently could've used it to pick the lock. Yeah, right. I'm not even trained in lockpicking... He laughed at this thought.

"I'm going insane, Elliot. I shouldn't even like her. I shouldn't still think of her that way. I shouldn't still miss her."

Now that comment just confused him. Why would Braxton hope they would come to talk with them? It had been a full year and he hadn't talked to him at all. Sure sometimes he saw light, blondish-white hair walk past his cell but he never really spoke to him or saw tried to engage him. What would be the point? They were locked up tight and there was no reason for him to try to engage someone who had stabbed him in the back. They could have worked together and fought against the taskforce together. But he was betrayed. He didn't want to see him anymore, let alone talk to him.

"Just let it go, Braxton," he called back as he let his forehead touch the cold stone again. "It will be much easier if you just let it go. Don't cling to false hope."
