"The king let us keep our land, and made peace with the start of Unity.... we are naturally peace people, and are thankful. We do anything in our power to help the crown. I will tell you when dinner is ready. " She left as quietly as she appeared.

Jacus nodded as she left. Testing out his bed, he undid his armor and hung his weapons and pack. Once called upon, he made his way down to the main living area.

The bed was soft and smelled of lavender. Arwena came and got him and lead him down to the living/dinning area. It had a small wooden table with roughly carved wooden stools and soft pillow tops. Dinner was a salad with carrots, apples and some blueberries. Almonds and walnuts where de-shelled and was in a bowl on the table. All the utensils and plates where made out of a purplish wood that was smooth yet strong, and everything had a fine polish shine to them. Two tall elves where standing when they came down. A she elf with white blonde hair and a face much like Arwena's with the same grey eyes as her, and a male elf with white hair and deep brown eyes. "Jacus, these are my parents, my mother, Ethera, and my papa, Songo. Mums, papa, this is our guest, Jacus, he is a knight of the crown." Both elves nodded to him and sat down at their places.

Jacus gives them both a bow. "Pleasure to meet you both, thank you for letting me stay in your home, you are very kind." He sits down at the table and looks at the meal. He sighs at the obvious lack of meat but does with what is supplied.

Songo smiles, a camel poked his head in the door. "Sorry for the lack of meat, we know you humans like it, but the only elves that eat it are rangers, we are druids, we don't like eating what could speak to us... I'm sure that is understandable...." A falcon was perched in the corner of the room. These two animals obviously Arwena's parents companions. Arwena ate silently.

Jacus smiled, "It's quite alright. We are all omnivores. I will suffice without meat. I'm sure I will get some on my trip. So you are all the closest people to nature in the kingdom? I am curiosity how one would commune with nature like a druid does. My kingdom has hunters and herbalists... but nothing like you guys do." He spoke in an almost excited tone as he was in awe with everything he saw and learned.

Ethera gave him a soft smile."inquisitive..... you have a Dragon's heart, and a Dragon's heart is his spirit. Yes we are, we help the borders and trees grow strong, the water we purify and help in the gardens. As for communicating with nature... we simply are silent.... and in being silent we listen." She held her arm out to the falcon. "Each druids strength is connected to the animal they have summoned at a young age. Kia, my falcon, allows me to have sharp eyes to see what is truly there. My husband has a camel... Jeffrey....."

"I have better endurance, and can last longer in hot climates. Yes, I know Jeffrey is a little..... slow... but he is my camel......." he sighed rubbing his temples. "I don't think camel spit cures stomach aches Jeffrey......" the camel made a bellowing sound and his head withdrew from the doorway.

(((Inside joke on the camel, a friend of mine's character is a eladrin druid with a durpy camel who thinks his spit cures stomach aches.... xd.png)))

((lol, that sounds interesting!!))

Jacus looked at her in shock, "How did you know about my soul? You can't read minds can you?" He never went around sharing knowledge of his gift. While he was an ordinary human, the Dragon's soul gave made him slightly adept in magic, help him resist sickness, and some other perk his father was never told by the dying dragon or it's relatives. Jacus tend not worry about it going on life as normal. The fact she could tell without him saying a word blew him away. Hearing the rest of what she said, Jacus took it to memory to focus and be silent at some point in his time here. The forests were magical, purhaps there was more to learn.

"Kia sensed it and let me know. Falcons see in a sharp almost heat sensitive vision, A Dragon's spirit is hotter then most, thus she saw it in you. The council has informed me that we are to send a escort with you. Something dark is troubling the forest and unfortunately it is on the way to Unity, where you would run into this darkness. Arwena is still young, and her senses are higher then us elves, with her rare dire wolf companion. She will guide you on safe paths. This is a order from your teacher Arwena... no arguments." Her mother said sternly, apparently Arwena was known as the head strong argumentative girl around the city, her teacher said something similar to her earlier that day.

Jacus looked at them surprised, "Ah... I appreciate all these things... But I really don't require escort... I just don't want her to come along if she doesn't want to. Nothing against you tradition or upbringing, but forcing her to go is a little unfair if she would rather stay. What do you think Arwena?" He turned to Arwena with a warm smile.

"I want to go and see the world but by myself. I suspect my teacher sends me with you because she trusts a knight of the crown and knows no harm would come to me, but there is a darkness to the southwest along the path. A type of darkness that only druids can detect. It's in the trees.... and the water it's making everything sick. It would be a shame if you fell ill on your important mission to Unity." Arwena never looked up from her bowl as she spoke.

Jacus' smile faded since she wasn't looking back, "Alright. We travel together to Unity, then go our seperate ways. Who knows, I could repay this kindness by destroying whatever darkness plagues these woods. I wouldn't want others taking the shared pathways to be in danger. An extra pair of sharp eyes and keen ears is never a burden." He finished his meal and did what he could to clean up. When the family went their own ways, Jacus made his way to the balcony and stared off into the city of wood and magic. "Simply beautiful at sunset..."

Arwena came up a while later. "Two sets, Drago comes with me. I have a horse waiting for you in the morning.... we best be off at dawn, I will wake you when it approaches." She went to her room after that and laid down for a few hours.

Jacus sighed at her dryness and got to bed, closing his eyes, he decided to focus and listen to the life around him, thought most were asleep, he knew of many nocturnal creatures.

Drago wondered the top parts of the tree, he was silent for something so huge. He had took a likening to Jacus and slipped into his room laying at the foot of his bed. A owl hooted somewhere in the trees, a bat shrieked. All manner of animals made the nightly crys. In the home nest to them a nightingale sang its sweet song.

Jacus smirked as he looked down at the dire wolf. "Heh, Ihope Arwena Doesnt get jealous. Then it's on you furball." He laughed quietly and patted the wolf. Laying back down, he focused on the birds songs in the night and fell asleep, ready for a new day to begin.

Arwena came in and woke him at dawn like she promised. Her hair was braided and tied back, she had her staff and two quivers of arrows along with her long bow. "Drago why are you still in here you should be saddled and ready downstairs... Jacus, it's time for us to depart. Be ready as soon as you can. Well have breakfast on the road." She leafy again, Drago licked Jacus' cheek and followed Arwena out.

Jacus yawned and looked at the sun, "Leave it to the elves to wake up early..." He laughed and got his gear together. Rubbing the saliva from Drago's lick, he was his face with water. Ready to go, he climbed downstairs to the appointed meeting place. Looking at the horse given to him, he petted its snout. "A beautiful horse. Does it have a name?"

The horse was a war horse, dark brown and large. It was saddled and ready, Drago had a flat saddle with a light purple wood chest plate and one around his neck. Arwena sat on Drago. "Kayden, a kingly name for a horse, it means 'powerful warrior' he will carry you well past any danger and dose not spook easily. In fact... I have never seen anything frighten him. " Drago had no bridle and Arwena rode him easily. He had packs and a third quiver filled with arrows. She seemed to know how to prepare for a journey.

"Kayden Huh?" He petted the horse and then got on, adjusting the saddle to his size and took the reigns. "I can feel how strong he is... The only horse know that has strength like this is the King's Horse, Life. The legendary horse that carried the king across the entire Death Desert in two days." He thought of the stories he learned when he was young. The king and his Knights, the adventures they had, the monsters they slayed. It was something he wanted to do. Packing the rest of his gear, he saddled Kayden again. "Ready when you are Arwena!"

"I would like to see such a horse... " Drago walked to the gate and on to the narrow path leading to the main trail. The wolf would be faster than the horse, so he slowed his pace, matching the trot with his long legs of his. "This is the first time Drago and I have left the forest together. He leaves to hunt but never never goose to far..."

Jacus smirks, "So I bet he knows all the best places to get meat!" With a laugh Jacus got Kayden to keep a trot next to Drago and Arwena, "Are you sure your a Druid? With a partner like that and enough arrows to kill an army, I would say you were a Hunter or Ranger."

"Dire animals are rare for druids, a wolf even more so. Considering they are a top predator. My skill set is archery and some creatures hides are tough to pierce. Some animals are to fowl to be reasonable with. Elder Thrii the Ranger of our people told me if I get strong enough I can double as a Ranger. I was born a druid, but have the tracking skills of a wolf, thus my powers summoned Drago. But I am still young, and the only child of the Head guards, I must take on that duty. I wish I was a Ranger though, they get to see outside our realm, while a druid must stay and protect the people and the forest. Not much different then a knight who guards the crown."

Jacus laughed, "Not much different at all, except that the Crown can move from place to place. Your kingdom cannot move. So if the king wants to travel, we go with him. The military has protect over the kingdom detail." He looked around at the endless amounts of trees and sighed, "So you never left the forest? Which means you never have seen the plains, the ocean, or the mountains?"

"I see mountains, but only in the distance. Other then drawings and stories, no I have not seen them. Only the trees. You seem so young to be travelling all those places, even with a group of people...." She looked at him with large grey eyes. "Could you tell me about the places you've been, and the people that are in those places.... and animals...." She had a childish glint in her eyes.
