The Survival of the Packs

Recommended Posts

Khayen looked at Toral, then nodded.

"Yes. We're long overdue for a border run, anyways." He was about to say something else, when a familiar wolf was heard. That would be... Fortuna? He seemed to want him to come see his new trap.

"Uh... I apologize. I cannot right now, since Toral and I were about to go for a border check. I suppose you could come along, if Toral let you?" He looked at the Beta eagerly, letting his tongue loll out.

"I mean, there isn't a problem, is there, sir? Fortuna is a warrior same as me. And as always, it's pretty much customary to have two more wolves accompany VIPs."

Snowbell jumped off her mate, feeling a little embrassed by her childish behavior, but happy nonetheless. "Alright," she agreed, looking in the direction he was pointing at and beginning to walk over.

Baron watched Eve stroll up. "I see now. We need to act now. We have the gather the pack together now," he added, a firm gaze locked onto the beta. He lifted his head and cried out, his howl long and deep.

"Pack of Oakland!" He shouted. "Enemies have been spotted, Moonshadow wolves. We need to act now! Two patrols, led by me and Meg. My group will enter the territory of Moonshadow, and go to their camp, and ask the, about the wolves. The second patrol shall follow behind, but wait outside the camp, as reinforcements, in case they fight."

Toral looked irritable towards Fortuna. "Yes of course, Fortuna may come on the patrol. We better move out, Rain, make sure to tell the alphas that we are gone." He ordered.

((Second post for character sheet))

Username: Tiga

Name: Ivory

Age: 1 and a half

Gender: Female

Pack: Oakland

Rank: Queen

Appearance: http://images.fineartamerica.com/images-me...mie-dutcher.jpg (the white one)

Personality: A younger queen, Ivory is a gentle mother. She holds a lot of spirit and is very energetic, but is very protective of her first and only pup, Maktow. Her mate was a dark gray male (in the picture) who was a warrior of the pack. Sadly, he was trapped by human hunters, and was shot in front of Ivory. She fled, but lost half her tail and gained a lame front paw. She can use her front left arm, just not move the paw it self. She walks around awkwardly on three.

History: Ivory left Maktow in camp, and she and her mate, Smoke was out hunting, but instead began to mess around. He ran ahead of Ivory, teasing her before he fell and was crippled to the ground. His front paw was in a metal trap. Ivory tried biting it away, causing her to trap her own tail in the process, but then Smoke fell down dead and limp. She could only take in a little of what had happened when the hunters shot their gun. However she moved and the bullet his her front paw, and deciding it was enough, the hunters let her go.

But after she had fled, the hunters followed her trail. But she learned quickly. And make a mock trail, before licking up her wound carefully and leaving, careful to not leave blood.

Crush/mate: Smoke (deceased)

Pups: Maktow

Raven spoke up. We shouldn't evoke them, Baron. Taking a group that large is just asking for trouble. A group of two, and then another group of four, to wait outside. The Alphess tried to look at it from the Moonshadow's perspective. A group of wolves, basically the whole pack, going to the heart of the territory, their camp, would have set blood boiling. The last thing they needed right now was war. She was dead set on not letting Baron. Not at least with the group so big. She lowered her voice. We are the Alphas, Baron, we need to work together for the pack. Don't let our problems get in the way of that. Otherwise, you aren't fulfilling your duties, we aren't fulfilling our duties. She'd said it in a gentle tone, but knowing Baron, it'd still probably tick him off.

Rain's mood faltered as she was tasked with letting the Alphas know. No, she'd been ordered. By her equal. Her mate. Her ears were pinned back, but not out of submission. "Ok." Isn't that what the others are for though? It was on the tip of her tongue, but she knew that would make her sound full of herself. She hated herself for even thinking something that mean. But still... She loped through the camp, looking for Crescent or Snowbell. She found them both, playing. The she-wolf cleared her throat, envy lurking. Toral and I are taking a patrol out to check for intruders as well as check the borders. With that, she turned on heel and sauntered back towards the small group.

Baron looked back at Raven with dead eyes. "Very well then. Will you go? If not then I will take Eve or Meg. The second patrol will be led by Moonbreak, and Gideon and Kaia."

Khayen nodded, then stood and took in a deep breath. It was good to get a lungful of fresh air before and after a run, helps to keep your body working in tip-top shape. After all, you wouldn't want to get caught off-guard because you couldn't breath, right? The young wolf had finished his rabbit by now. It was naught but an appetizer, but luckily enough it hit the spot and ceased his stomach growls. He nodded in the direction of the Oakland pack, before trodding off at a slow pace. It was a good idea for the warriors to stand in front and behind of the VIP they were escorting, so Khayen naturally took the lead. Fortuna would be at the rear and Toral would be in the middle.

The jobs were simple, Khayen would enter an area first and after careful inspection, let the rest of the group know that it was safe. Toral wouldn't do much, although he'd join in a battle if it came to that. Fortuna would watch the backside, keeping an eye out for any spies that followed them. Although spies were unlikely, it was still a necessary precaution.

Khayen turned back to Toral and Fortuna, butt to the ground and an expectant look on his face. His entire body was like a razor's edge, sharp and deadly. He considered for a moment letting out a howl, then decided against it. No point in alerting other animals and their rival pack of their activities. He looked into the sky as the morning sun drifted lazily across the scape.

"Ready when you are, sir." Khayen said, directing his words towards Toral.

The she-wolf nodded. Thank you for listening. I'm happy to lead it. Raven didn't necessarily care, that Baron didn't care for her. They didn't need a love interest to care for the pack. That could always come later.

Icis walked over to the small group who was slowly starting to move.

She has a tiny bag in her mouth

<< I heard you guys were going to inspect the area, here take this>>

she hands Khayen the bag

<< I have filled it with aloe Vera plants, use the juice on wounds or cuts, to make them heal better>>

good luck, and watch out for the bear

Fortuna lined up behind, giving a signal he was ready to move when they were

Name: Aster

Age: 4

Gender: Female

Pack: Moonshadow

Rank: Queen

Appearance: Aster is a fairly small wolf with a light brown coat. She has a white spot on her chest that goes to her mid belly. Her leaf green eye compliments her dark brown paws nicely. Her other eye is now a giant scar and the tip of her right ear is gone. Her tail is mostly cream except for the very bottom which is the same light brown as the rest of her.

Personality: Aster very child like and stuborn. She is sweet most of the time but turns into a bomb if you aren't careful. She is deathly afraid of swimming and loves to run and fight. She was fierce in battle until she became a queen and no longer was able to fight.

History: She used to be a loner with her mate. They worked as a team until one day. Her mate was out hunting while she was watching their den with her unborn pup. A wolf walked up to her he was unknown, blood around his mouth. She called her mates name for help. She looked around helpless. Aster saw him, Shade her mate. He was dragging one leg calling her name. His side was torn into and he whimpered. He finally arrived and he said "run, leave me behind, I love you." Aster hesitated said "I love you too I'll never forget you." and ran. After awhile she got tired and the unknown wolf caught up she fought and fought. That's how she got her scars. She slowed him down and ran into the Moonshadow pack

Crush/mate: Dead but you can try to become her mate.

Pups: Soon to come.

Yawn.

That was the first thing that escaped Kaia's mouth, it was the middle of the day and she'd waken up. The alpha could get mad at her, but she'd give that a pass. Her eyes skirted around the area, stretching her front by pushing her legs out in front of her, touching the soft soil. It was nice, having a pack -- well, most of the time.

Then she heard her name, and perked her ears. Baron had spoken her name. She hadn't talked to Baron yet, she had barely talked to anyone, in fact, but she didn't have to be friendly, did she?

Quickly getting onto her feet and making sure she didn't look like she just woke up, she padded over to Baron, who seemed to be talking to some wolves and organizing beta stuff.

"Second patrol? Can I do this patrol and also the second one? I'm bored, and hungry, and I want to hunt."

Kaia asked, her ears flicking in anticipation. She was filled with energy, and she hadn't hunted in a day or two. Plus, the pack needed food, right? And those annoying Moon wolves from the other pack needed to be kept at bay.

"Yes, I'd be glad to help," added Gideon.

"And so would I!" Eve cried. She glanced between Baron and Raven. She was perfectly aware of their conflict with each other - to be mates or not to be mates. In her opinion, they were perfectly suited. However, she knew that now was not the time for matchmaking what with the Moonshadows lurking nearby.

Gideon, who had finished his duties for the moment, walked off and caught sight of Crimson again. He needed to take his eyes off her! But he couldn't. He strolled up to her.

"Did you hear?" he asked her. "I met a bear and a Moonshadow. Looks like we're going in to check them." He hesitated. "We'll be needing you, probably, if someone gets attacked...so stay sage out there."

He gazed into her pearly eyes.

"A patrol," said Crescent, nodding sagely. "Our defense is, as ever, tip top. Bow, has everyone been fed? I assume that the hunters have done their job."

He followed Snowbell into the camp where most of the other wolves were.

((Just to avoid confusion, since I'm a little confused right now...))

Moonbreak - Oakland

Moonbreak stood silently and stoically nearby as he listened to the others talk. He didn't really care too much about going or not, as long as the pack was safe. He'd much rather stay behind to provide protection if it was needed.

Willow - Moonshadow

Willow bounced through the forest, her amazing ability of being always well groomed somehow helping her to avoid touching any bushes or annoying greenery. Her ears perked when she saw the two alphas and some other wolves. She gave a cheery nod as she trotted by, bringing her catch back to where most the others were.

Snowbell - Moonshadow

Snowbell nodded in approval and agreement to her mate's words, watching fondly as Willow bounced by. Snowbell still remembered when Willow was a pup. It was Snowbell who had insisted on taking care of Willow when they first found her, abandoned, despite the smell of the Oakland pack lingering on her. Her persistence had gotten the other queens to stand up for this as well and the alpha at the time had been somewhat amused that they thought he was going to harm the pup for the scent on her fur. Now, Willow was a great hunter for the pack who had the, admittedly odd, ability to be well groomed, even after battling. Snowbell vaguely wondered how it worked, before dismissing the thought as she had before to avoid getting a headache from thinking about it. Instead, she followed her mate as they went back to camp.

Crescent watched her mate observe the young she-wolf, Willow. He, too, remembered the she had been a pup. Snowbell seemed to live pups, and Crescent was rather fond of them too. As he walked back to the camp, he imagined what it would be like of he had pups of his own...

Snowbell - Moonshadow

Snowbell really, really did wish that she had pups, too. They were the one thing she loved almost as much as her mate. The pack as a whole came close, too, but that was different. She walked closer to her mate, rubbing against him occasionally and feeling oddly affectionate. Hm... How weird. Usually she'd just feel embarrassed at the thought of showing affection in the sight of the other wolves. "I wish I had pups, too..." She murmured, "but it always feels so wrong, what with the Oakland pack around."

Aster Moonshadow

She stretched and padded out in the open it hadn't been to long since the fight. Her scars still stung a bit and she got a little worried about that attacker finding her. That would never happen. She reassured herself. She decided to walk around and get a little exercise in camp. Aster liked everyone here, they're the reason she's alive now. A swift breeze ran over her pelt and she felt alive. Aster laid down in the sun. She couldn't do anything else so why not. Suddenly she flashed back to the time when her beloved mate died. She whimpered and put her paws on her face. No longer feeling the sun or the breeze. These memories terrorized her. It was only a week ago that she lost him. And like she promised she hasn't forgotten him.

Crescent gazed at her.

"When we are safe and alone," he whispered, gently nuzzling her. As an Alpha, he wanted someone to carry on his line, perhaps to become Alpha after him if they could, but most of all, he just wanted to be happy and have a good life, even if there would be trouble with the Oakland pack.

((That's a good idea.))

Rain- Moonshadow Beta Female

A form stood before her. It towered over the small she-pup. The shadowy figure wasn't looking for her though. It moved past her, ignoring her for last. There was the sound of fighting, teeth against flesh. Rain knew she had to move. "Go..." her mother struggled to say. The figure's head snapped to her, and she began to run. Her short legs couldn't carry her very far before it was on upon her.

Rain snapped up from her nightmare/daydream. A cold chill ran through her. Not again.

Baron stared at Raven. "Fine then. Lead the first, and a beta will take the second, since an alpha should always be in camp," he agreed. But, his voice was hostile and was reluctant. "Head straight back, and if a fight does break out, send some wolf fast for us to come to help," he added, more genuine this time.

Crimson looked up to Gideon. "Should I go then?" She asked, standing to her full height, but still was small compared to the wolf. "Should I go?" She repeated to Raven.

(Gonna make him about two weeks old, so that he can see and hear)

Maktow wasn't very old, but he already knew he liked to explore. Even if he only got a few feet away from his mother before she dragged him back, waddling around and drinking in as much of his surroundings as possible had become a great pastime of his. Today was no different. While his mother had turned a blind eye, he toddled after a leaf blowing in the wind, occasionally trying to catch it in his mouth. He always missed, but it didn't stop him from trying.

Aster Moonshadow

She lifted the paws off her face and looked up. Everything is ok. Im fine he's in a better place and others are here so I won't be that lonely. Aster told herself. She stretched and got up. It's not that exiting here but in a way that's a good thing. No excitement equals no good or bad news so no attacks. The sun started to burn her pelt so she looked for a shady spot. She found one and noticed that no one seemed to notice her they were all doing something else. I guess that's the price you have to pay if you want a pup or two. But it'll be worth it. Aster thought.. She though. About topics like what she was going to name her pups and what it was going to be like to take care of them. This went on for awhile then she stopped thinking about it and let her mind rest.

Raven- Oakland Alpha Female

The wolf dipped her head. Alright. Her expression and body seemed to come alive with energy. Her usual soft features hardened with determination. Her eyes took on a fierce edge. Oakland, to the Moonshadow camp. We do not know of their intents. Be wairy and on high alert. Do not attack unless attacked. Now, let's go! She howled, drawing the group together. She led them into the forest at a steady pace.

Gideon knew that also meant him. Growling angrily, he ran after Raven, but made sure that he hung behind a little and stayed in the second group.
