Posted May 16, 2014 (edited) π ₪ Ж Welcome Ж ₪ π The Dragons of Gaelwe exist on an island out in the ocean. Ruled over by King Mektamn and Queen Desanui, the island is far from peaceful. Though the ruling class is on average inclined to protect its subjects, there are powerful rogue sects that seek to overthrow the kingdom and plunge Gaelwe into chaos. I, Ayllis, am providing a faithful narrative of what I have been able to record so far in the way of these mighty creatures. If you have information on the denizens of Gaelwe, I would be glad to add their records to this collection of knowledge. Does your dragon need a backstory? Maybe you don't have the time to get involved in a roleplay for every dragon on your scroll, but you still want them to have some kind of history? Or maybe you don't roleplay very well, but you have great ideas about your dragons. Bring them here! Bring them to Gaelwe! The dragons here are not linked by breed, by blood, or by scroll - they are from Gaelwe. Your dragon might be a servant of the royal family. They might be nomads in the clans of the Timeless Wing. They might be enchanted servants of the Fairy Queen. They might be evil; members of the notorious Black Coalition. They might simply be a law unto themselves. Whatever the case, there's something here for everyone! I'm very loose when it comes to what the various dragons are actually like. In Gaelwe, they might have a tendency towards their breed's natural inclination, but most dragons (at least, the characters here) don't necessarily fall along that line. After all, Gaelwe has been long-separated from the rest of the world. Not long enough for the dragons to be fundamentally different, but long enough that their personalities can be fundamentally different if given a good explanation. π ₪ Ж Rules Ж ₪ π 1. Any dragon is allowed. 2. Just because there are slots doesn't mean those are the only slots. You can ask about other slots that could be available. 3. Characters don't necessarily have to conform to the breed description. 4) If you want your dragon to be an Ardent, PM me. Your dragon may not have a special rank of any kind, and they can't be a rare/holiday, to be an Ardent. π ₪ Ж Roleplaying Ж ₪ π For Roleplaying in This Thread: You may do some short stories or short roleplays between one or two other people, but keep it to a minimum (less than ten posts back and forth), because this is the breeding section, not the roleplaying section. For Roleplaying in General: I'm not very good at keeping up with roleplays. For that reason, there will not be a "main" roleplay concerning Gaelwe. If your short roleplay is becoming an epic, you can take it to the roleplaying forum. However, that does not mean you can start an epic about Gaelwe without approving it with me first. For obvious reasons, you can't involve my dragons without my permission. π ₪ Ж Application Ж ₪ π [image] Name: Lineage: Position: Why: [image] should be fairly obvious. I want an image of the dragon you're applying. Name should also be obvious. Lineage should be a link to the dragon's lineage. Position indicates what position you want your dragon to have. Put a specific position or you'll become a commoner (Commoners aren't bad!). Why should be why your dragon deserves the position you're aiming for. This needs to be nice and thorough. If you're being a commoner or a grunt (bad guy) you don't need to fill this part out. π ₪ Ж Banners Ж ₪ π 100x30 150x13 350x19 Banner Edited June 19, 2014 by Desanui Share this post Link to post
Posted May 16, 2014 (edited) π ₪ Ж Dragons Ж ₪ π If there's parentheses () around a breed name, that means that the slot has been reserved, but the dragon doesn't exist yet. π ₪ Ж Capital Ж ₪ π π ₪ Ж Royal Family Ж ₪ π "The king is too distracted by the happenings of the common dragon. That's why I'm the queen." -Desanui ₪ King ₪ Mektamn Powerful, wise, and just, Mektamn is the King of Gaelwe, and a champion of the common dragon. Because of this, he is often targeted by assassins hired by disgruntled nobles. As if that isn't enough, the Black Coalition and the Cult of Fangs do their very best to disrupt all the work he has done by terrorizing the kingdom. ₪ Queen ₪ Desanui Desanui, as the Queen of Gaelwe, is ruthless and cunning, and has taken upon herself the duty of defending her mate. While he focuses on ensuring the prosperity of the common dragon, Desanui deals with the intrigue and ambition of the various nobles both in the court and out in the seven Wings, fighting fire with fire. And anyone going against her gets burned. ₪ Firstborn ₪ Perephra ₪ Secondborn ₪ Nickoti π ₪ Ж Court Ж ₪ π ₪ Royal Broodkeepers ₪ Clevenmyre Lord Clevenmyre and his mate, Shalyrah, serve as defenders of the young in the court of Gaelwe, the hidden dragon kingdom. Together, they provide guidance to the hatchlings, protect them from harm, and teach them the history of the kingdom. Clevenmyre is not a warrior, however; he is not as powerful as the other dragons. If a threat were to come to the palace, he and his mate have instructions from the king and queen to take any hatchlings to safety. Shalyrah Lady Shalyrah is one of the caretakers of the young in the court of Gaelwe, the hidden dragon kingdom. Together with her mate, Lord Clevenmyre, they provide guidance to the hatchlings, protect them from harm, and teach them the history of the kingdom. She is not as powerful as the other dragons, however; if a threat were to come to the palace, she and her mate have instructions from the king and queen to take any hatchlings to safety, rather than stand and fight. ₪ Court Magician ₪ Kemborei A magi of great power, Kemborei has ascended the ranks of the kingdom, proving his worth and battling with other powerful mages for the chance to serve the royal family. He is singularly loyal, making attempts on the royal brood difficult. He works with Lord Clevenmyre and Lady Shalyrah often, and serves King Mektamn's every need, but his loyalty lies with Queen Desanui. ₪ Advisors ₪ Kyhn One of the oldest and wisest of dragons, Kyhn came from a distant land, back many generations. No one is quite sure how old he is, or what his purpose is, but he serves the royal family, offering them advice on how to keep the peace. It is rare that anyone has ever seen him fight... or even angry, but when it does happen, people speak of the great power within this dragon, and everyone is certain he is not what he seems... Psi Fang Belkanis ₪ Nobility ₪ Thetalis Signodextra It is said he was born of a marriage between the Goddess of Magic and a mortal. In her wrath, she locked her son away, preventing him from ever seeing the light of day. In her womb, he grew, filled with the power that surrounded him, and eventually bargained with the Goddess for his life. In return, he had to earn the right to be her son, and, stripped of all power, he was sent to Gaelwe. There, he grew strong in magic, topping all heights, and at last, the Goddess re-owned him as her son and restored to him his divine power... Haszani Often gazing skyward, Haszani was witness to Thetalis's descent from the heavens, and despite his initial disinterest in her, she helped him get his bearings on Earth. Being of noble descent herself, her resources proved invaluable to him, allowing him to focus on earning his inheritance. She remained loyal throughout, though he rarely acknowledged her, and at last, after his return to demigod status, her love bore fruit in the Signodextras... Sidhira Thundriax Thraela Tyta of Eve π ₪ Ж Armies of Gaelwe Ж ₪ π ₪ Commander ₪ Irryn Kuu Hard as stone and unyielding as a mountain, Lady Commander Irryn is easy to follow in battle. With a few dark shadows in her past, Irryn does not trust easily but when she does, it is earned. Irryn always attempts to be just but it is not always possible. When such an occasion comes, she commits the dirty deeds herself, believing no one else should stain their honor on her behalf. ₪ Personal Guard of the Commander ₪ Calah Calah grew up in a simple and a rather remote corner of Gaelwe. When the Black Coalition demolished her home and killed many of ther beloved ones, she had to learn to defend herself with next to nothing. Calah became a resourceful and fearsome warrioress, seeking revenge. She soon caught the eye of Lady Commander Irryn and was employed in her service. Although her grief and thirst for revenge has faded, she still hated the Black Coalition with fiery passion. ₪ 1st Lieutenant ₪ Chraellor Chraellor has never known his parents and the only parent figures he has had were Yathera and the Secret Emperor. When Irryn freed him from their influence, he had to build his life from scratch, a feat which he completed with her help. His loyalty to her is unwavering. ₪ 2nd Lieutenant ₪ ₪ North Captain ₪ Harith Harith keeps himself to himself. He rarely speaks and has no true friends. It is known that he's from the territories currently occupied by the Black Coalition and that he has family there but his subordinates know little else. Harith has scars running down the left side of his face and neck and is experienced in wing-and- claw style combat. ₪ 1st Lieutenant ₪ ₪ 2nd Lieutenant ₪ ₪ East Captain ₪ Hrafn Hrafn seems a little shady. He comes and goes in the night and no one knows where he goes or why. There have been rumors that he has sold his loyalties to the Black Coalition but so far, no evidence has been found. Irryn trusts him but only so far as she can throw him. Hrafn is aware of this mistrust that surrounds him but doesn't mention it. ₪ 1st Lieutenant ₪ ₪ 2nd Lieutenant ₪ ₪ West Captain ₪ Itchi-Ban Kuroi When Itchi-Ban Kuroi was a hatchling, his father dedicated him to the army. He could see that Itchi-Ban was growing fast and was already almost twice the size of his siblings. He was sent to the army before he grew his wings and has been training hard ever since. Itchi-Ban also grew to like plotting unusual, yet effective war tactics. Itchi-Ban Kuroi was promoted due to his integrity and his ability to improvise quickly. ₪ 1st Lieutenant ₪ ₪ 2nd Lieutenant ₪ ₪ South Captain ₪ Reidiax Reidiax is a cunning captain, commanding her forces with precision and stealth, often taking out her opponents without even giving them a chance to fight. Though many of her tactics are looked upon as cowardly or underhanded by others, few can deny that she almost never fails in any mission she has been given. ₪ 1st Lieutenant ₪ ₪ 2nd Lieutenant ₪ ₪ Guardian of the Gate ₪ Tlail and Tlani Unanimously agreed upon as being insane, the story behind Tlail and Tlani is rather tragic. Tlani was supposedly once a one-headed dragon, but when she was young, Gaelwe was in the midst of a devastating war. To protect her, her father (Felroch) cast a spell, but in his quest for power, he had picked up some rather darker baggage, which caused the protective spell to take the form of a second head. Felroch never found out - he had left immediately afterward to fight Tundor, and never came back. As for Tlani... well, what would you do if you were a timid, sweet dragon and you suddenly grew a second head intent on killing anyone who threatened you? π ₪ Ж Residents of the Capital Ж ₪ π Avivai Selorim Eivile Luyko π ₪ Ж The Ardents Ж ₪ π These dragons are not listed. If you want your dragon to be an Ardent, PM me. Your dragon may not have a special rank of any kind. Your dragon must be common or uncommon. The Ardents obey the commands of the King and Queen of Gaelwe alone. π ₪ Ж Wings Ж ₪ π π ₪ Ж Amazon Wing Ж ₪ π "Females are ferocious warriors. Combine that fact with dragons... I suggest you run for your life." -Unknown ₪ War Queen ₪ Wings-of-Darkness Darkness grew up in the Timeless Wing to parents that had left the Capital, so the vast majority of her days were spent alone, or else learning "life's great lessons" from her mother while her father scouted for danger. Members of the Black Coalition traveled deep into the kingdom, eventually finding Darkness's parents. A Brute is not easily defeated, but as there were only two against twenty or so, they were quickly killed. After several years of living alone--in which she had a son with a Strifelorn male Radiant Angel--Darkness stumbled across the Amazon Wing and joined them, working her way up through the ranks in order to prove herself--and in hopes of avenging her parents' deaths. ₪ Fire Princess ₪ Pyraias It was a normal day in the Amazon Wing when they found this little Hellfire hatchling, lost and abandoned. Nobody knew who her parents were, nor where she came from. They took her in, because why not? She had the makings of a great warrior. Indeed, as she went through years of training, they turned the small, skinny hatchling into a spirited, battle-ready young adult. That wasn't enough for Pyraias, though. Slowly, she continued to rise through the ranks of the Amazons until she earned her position of the fire princess. Hot-headed, impatient, and ambitious, Pyraias is not a dragon you'd want to mess with. She earned many scars getting to where she is now, and there are whispers she has her eyes on being the warrior queen next... ₪ Water Princess ₪ ₪ Earth Princess ₪ ₪ Air Princess ₪ ₪ Aethir Princess ₪ ₪ Warriors ₪ Flash Of The Blade Flash Of The Blade is very fast even by Whiptail standards and has always used her skill to defend slower, weaker or smaller dragons. She is always on the move, scouting the area for threats (or food). Provoking or even just annoying her is a very stupid idea, but when she's not in fighting mode she can be a lot of fun to be around. π ₪ Ж Cliffscales Wing Ж ₪ π The choicest territory was gained by this Wing. Known for their competitive natures, these dragons only allow those whose skills are worth bragging about, and always turn everything into a competition. Though this can often lead to them being jerks, they have a good sense of humor, and usually love being asked for help. ₪ Master Champion ₪ ₪ Champion of Agility ₪ ₪ Champion of Endurance ₪ ₪ Champion of Speed ₪ ₪ Champion of Strength ₪ ₪ The Elites ₪ Bolt and Brave (Strength) π ₪ Ж Planestriders Wing Ж ₪ π The lazy wind currents have produced a genial community, somewhat shunned by the rest of the kingdom, but no less loyal for it. ₪ Lord ₪ *Aurios (Radiant Angel) ₪ Lady ₪ *Naiilo (Black) ₪ Firstborn ₪ ₪ Subjects ₪ Pure Radiant Anothulear Felatheria Gethis Nsecj π ₪ Ж Skysworn Wing Ж ₪ π Virtually a kingdom within a kingdom, this Wing is large and influential in many matters, and a key to all trade in the kingdom. Ruled honorably by Irobel and Ayllis. ₪ Lord ₪ Irobel ₪ Lady ₪ Ayllis ₪ Firstborn ₪ Hyaki ₪ Secondborn ₪ Thili'a ₪ Thirdborn ₪ Fyxii ₪ Nobles ₪ Ambribari Rather new to the noble stage, Ambribari had to work her way up, and is not always given the same respect as the other noble families. However, she has earned the position legitimately, and is determined to keep it, so that her children may enjoy the status and privileges of the station, even if she herself cannot. Outhu Lena Bribari Darce Bribari ₪ Sentinels ₪ Zorione Zorione is joyful and flightly. She loves to spread her starry wings and soar through the night sky while on patrol. Theisha After her clutchmate, Saithariti, maimed their little sister, Comettayl, and left to join the Black Coalition, Theisha has trained for their eventual confrontation. Whether for revenge or to try to reason with her, even Theisha isn't sure. This early tragedy has made Theisha rather cynical, but at the same time, has given her a strong desire to see justice served. Comettayl's purity, despite the wrongs done to her, is Theisha's guiding light, so she doesn't lose sight of what is truly important. ₪ Citizens ₪ Comettayl Maimed at a young age by her own sister, Saithariti, Comettayl found that her growth had been stunted, and so despite being well into adulthood in years, she still has the body of a hatchling. Perhaps along with this, she retains a near- childlike purity and naive nature, and is always the optimist, no matter how dire the situation. Due to her small size, she has proven to be quite useful to her other sister, Theisha, who in turn protects her as any older sibling should. π ₪ Ж Strifelorn Wing Ж ₪ π This Wing has been through a lot, being on the border between the known territory of the Black Coalition and the rest of the kingdom. They believe (rightly to a degree) that they are the only defense the kingdom has. ₪ Archduchess ₪ Oxalla Kuu Archduchess Oxalla has been brought up as a ruler and rule she is. Noble, just and confident, she has set an example for her three children they desperately try to live up to. She has more often than not chosen her Wing over her children and sometimes she regrets her harsh words. ₪ Archduke Consort ₪ Calerin Kuu Starting out a novice magician in the Timeless Wing, Calerin would not have thought that he would end up as a consort to the Archduchess. Uninterested in court matters, he focused on raising his children instead. He did a decent job with that. ₪ Firstborn ₪ Kiarra Kuu Kiarra was always raised to ascend to the position of Archduchess. She was at first terrified of holding such power but under the careful tutelage of her mother, rose to what was expected of her. Many tell her that Kiarra is the very image of her mother but she does not want to be seen as her and desires to make her own image. ₪ Secondborn ₪ Irryn Kuu Irryn is currently the Captain of the Guard. ₪ Thirdborn ₪ Alden Kuu Having grown up with two willful and powerful sisters, Alden is shy and softspoken. He prefers to spend time with his tutors, discussing various subjects, ranging from meanings of ancient prophecies to trade difficulties, than spending time is the practice yard, learning to fight. And why should he; he has many guards and a warrior sister. ₪ Servants ₪ Kest'hethis π ₪ Ж Sylph Wing Ж ₪ π The location of this Wing can change on impulse - under the direction of the Fairy Queen. Not really quite part of the kingdom, this Wing is notorious for the more unusual happenings, such as stealing eggs and leaving their own, or kidnapping young, unmated dragons. ₪ Fairy Queen ₪ *Queen Aesli (Avatar of Change) ₪ Consort ₪ ₪ Firstborn ₪ ₪ Faetouched ₪ The Faetouched are enchanted servants of the Queen herself. If they are not mindless, they are singularly loyal to her, and love her unconditionally for as long as their enchantment lasts. Joandra Thethel Olurysis π ₪ Ж Timeless Wing Ж ₪ π Traveling nomads worshipping various pagan deities, the Timeless Wing is not so much a wing as a type of dragon - those who travel from place to place. Because of their travel, they offer trade to the more distant regions of the kingdom, as well as providing more unusual services, such as seeing into a dragon's future. π ₪ Ж The Mother Tribe Ж ₪ π ₪ Chief of Chiefs ₪ Kansek'tageha ₪ Shaman Queen ₪ ₪ Weaver of Dreams ₪ Oeskathine He wasn't always a master of words. Oeskathine's history was one of torment and pain. He had been captured by the Black Coalition and tortured until he was little more than a monster, killing to distract himself from his own pain. He ended up rescued by the Goddess of Magic herself, and became her lover, despite the vast separation between them... ₪ Elders ₪ Move Into Light ₪ Nomads ₪ Zarren Once a sentinel in the Skysworn Wing, Zarren got bored with each day of patrolling, patrolling, and more patrolling... When the Timeless Wing happened to be in town, he became curious about their nomadic ways. In the end, he joined them, and is quite happier now, for the traveling lifestyle suits his adventuring spirit nicely. Psi Wing π ₪ Ж Dragons of the Evening Star Ж ₪ π Evening Star Tribe ₪ Chief ₪ Pure Dark Radiance As a young hatchling, Dark grew up under the tutelage of his mother, Wings-of- Darkness. But when the pair joined the Amazon Wing, it was just a short while later that Dark left as a full-grown adult. After several years, Dark joined the nomads - he was essentially one, but hadn't planned to wander around the kingdom alone forever. After they learned to trust each other Dark was promoted to a chief, and carries out his job well. ₪ Shaman ₪ ₪ Wordweaver ₪ Kohmelo As the firstborn son of the king and queen of his Lumina clan, he was expected to be even more vain that other Luminas. But all the best kept Lumina beauty secrets just bored him. When his noble parents disapproved of a mating he had only arranged because he thought it would please them, it was the last straw for him. He joined some travelling nomads and found out that his great talent for storytelling can bring joy to other dragons (at home he had mostly been told to shut up). Most of his stories are about getting along with others and living in peace. ₪ Elders ₪ ₪ Nomads ₪ Forest Frost Powder of Silver Wings π ₪ Ж Dragons of the Thunder Ж ₪ π Thunder Dragon Tribe ₪ Chief ₪ ₪ Shaman ₪ Ellael Ellael is short-tempered and hardworking. She is very picky about with whom she mingles. This makes her duties as a shaman of Thunder Dragons somewhat harder but she doesn't really mind. As long as she lives up to her position, Ellael is happy. ₪ Wordweaver ₪ Kahente ₪ Elders ₪ ₪ Nomads ₪ π ₪ Ж Cloud Strike Clan Ж ₪ π ₪ Chief ₪ Ariskel ₪ Shaman ₪ Athayr ₪ Wordweaver ₪ Akilasali ₪ Elders ₪ To'demo ₪ Nomads ₪ Tikristi Alkalis Atlelor Atriei Aretolis π ₪ Ж The Black Coalition Ж ₪ π Located in a wasteland at the base of a volcano, the Black Coalition seeks to overthrow the current rulers of Gaelwe and destroy the kingdom. Luckily, perhaps, they are few in number, but they are growing, and many have infiltrated the kingdom, while other supporters are purchased with smuggling. ₪ Secret Emperor ₪ Dheltri Dheltri's former master waged war on Gaelwe in a bygone age, using the blood spilled to perform rituals of the cruelest nature. Dheltri, knowing the power gained would not be enough, took steps to conceal himself just prior to his master's fall, and has since ruled, with the malignant power he gained, from the shadows. ₪ Emperor ₪ Zylx Bound by ancient magic as Dheltri's eternal slave, Zylx is nevertheless a masterful creature, and only half his cunning and cruelty is that of his master. Drawing upon the forbidden magic supplied to him, he rules the Black Coalition with an iron claw and inspiring fear in his enemies. ₪ Right Hand ₪ Yathera Yathera is vicious and fearless. Once a dragon has had time alone with her, they do not want to see her again. She breaks minds and manipulates dragons to her own ends. Seeming an ordinary grunt at first sight, Yathera is actually one of the most powerful forces in the Empire. ₪ Left Hand ₪ Sathariti Cruel and clever, Saitha started her career by maiming a hatchling - her own sister - simply out of curiosity. Curiosity, it seems, would be her driving motivation in every act of evil she commits. This, coupled with her mastery of magic, lead many to avoid her, for fear of sparking her "curiosity" in a terrifying way. ₪ Assassin ₪ Lady Pearl Though at first sight she may seem a bit girly, Lady Pearl is certainly not a dragon to mess with. A pink dragon with questionable origin, nobody is quite sure how she came to be the Black Coalition's Assassin. On the outside she may seem to be innocent and not a blood thirsty murderer, on the inside she is very different. Lady Pearl is very much insane, and will kill just for the fun of it. Even other members of the Black Coalition avoid her as much as possible. I don't recommend underestimating her, for she is not an enemy worth having. ₪ Right Hand 1st Lieutenant ₪ Murheil Murheil gets very little free will. His mind almost broken and under Yathera's complete control, she decides his every move. The only free will he gets is to decide how he carries out the orders he's given. It is rumored that he once belonged to a noble family but nothing has been confirmed. ₪ Right Hand 2nd Lieutenant ₪ ₪ Left Hand 1st Lieutenant ₪ ₪ Left Hand 2nd Lieutenant ₪ ₪ Grunts ₪ Laugh Laugh is not a funny dragon, in fact his laugh is usually heard when he gets to kill someone in a particularly slow and painful way. He is very proud of his "art" of killing and craves admiration, which is why he started accepting work as a hitman. He hates following rules other than his own, but he can be extremely loyal and efficient if allowed to use his own methods, and he's not afraid of getting his claws dirty. Metagroth π ₪ Ж The Jolly Sisters Ж ₪ π The Jolly Sisters is a group unaffiliated with the kingdom or its enemies, and is comprised entirely of female dragons. Though at first sight a gang of thugs, these dragons have their own code of honor, and accept only those dragons who believe in justice and fair play. ₪ Leader ₪ Matia and Polira Matia is the head that speaks to other dragons; the only time Polira speaks is to whisper into her twin's ear, which she does a lot. They usually do not interfere in the Sisters' private lives, unless they feel it compromises the group's safety. While Matia is friendly and outgoing, Polira is aloof and standoffish. They weren't actually exiled from their Wing, they just wanted to travel and see the world. Seeing so much injustice inspired them to found the Jolly Sisters. ₪ Members ₪ Thuella Thuella is shrewd and she knows it very well. New members of the Jolly Sisters often think that she has the leader under some kind of spell because someone so cunning cannot be honorable and just. But when they learn to know her, she roves herself to be selfless, albeit a little pragmatic. Thuella has confirmed that her former comrades in her Wing felt threatened by her sharp wit and drove her away. Tena Tena isn't actually a castout but she pretend to be one, saying that her temper is her bane. The real reason for her exile was her refusal to bend to her family's will. Although they were not a noble family, they aspired to be one and Tena was supposed to be their ticket to riches, charming her way up through the ranks. She couldn't bear their endless guidance and criticism, fled and wandered Gaelwe on her own for a while until she came across the Sisters. She was suspicious of them at first but warmed up to them soon and joined. Aldra Aldra is dainty and ladylike, seeming out of place in the Sisters; she does not fight and frowns at boorish behavior. However, every Sister loves Aldra for her kindness and manners and she loves them back, secretly being the one who is always reminding them to be good. She never speaks of her past and falls silent when someone asks. Dumisani Dumisani is the main muscle of the Sisters. She is experienced in combat and strategy. She guides the most attacks the Sisters launch, only rarely surrendering her lead to Matia and Polira. She is a quiet dragons but when she speaks, it becomes clear that it's simply a personality trait rather than a result of a past tragedy. Dumisani says that when she heard of the Sisters driving out bandits, she immediately left her boring life, feeling that she had to contribute to make a difference in the world. π ₪ Ж Not All Those Who Wander Are Lost Ж ₪ π These dragons are not specifically affiliated with anyone. Arcanum Epsilosampi Dmo A stone dragon of questionable origin, Dmo sits at the base of a volcano, seemingly frozen in place by the icy wasteland surrounding it. When questioned (if one is particularly lucky) Dmo will state his name (at least, dragons assume "Dmo" is his name), then go on to recite the haunting words of some long-gone prophecy about the end of the world. Malkebor Living in a tower far from civilization of any kind, many believe him to be insane. Those who have entered his tower and were fortunate enough to escape consider it a wizard's tower, complete with a myriad of magical traps and dangerous beasts. As with all great power, many have sought his assistance, or merely sought the fabled treasures that must lie within, but few have emerged, and fewer still with any sort of reward for their efforts. Malkebor does not take kindly to intruders. Rhubilon Legend speaks of a dragon the size of a mountain, terrorizing the countryside. It was defeated long ago, though, and sealed within the heart of a volcano, with a stone guardian to stand watch. Time has hidden this legend from the world, but it does not make the legend false. For within the heart of that volcano, she waits... π ₪ Ж Cult of Fangs Ж ₪ π Creatures of thirst, these beings are not always evil... But they serve their own interests, and all are servants of the Vampire Queen. ₪ Vampire Queen ₪ Suqapha ₪ Vampire King ₪ Nilareth ₪ Handmaiden of Death ₪ Loviatar ₪ Handmaiden of Sorrows ₪ Vesiyra ₪ Handmaiden of Fear ₪ Ivory ₪ Handmaiden of Cruelty ₪ Cetiyuioainaiira ₪ Nest Keepers ₪ π ₪ Ж Deities of Gaelwe Ж ₪ π These beings may commonly appear as dragons, but they are far more powerful than any who walk this earth... Crytos of Healing Crytos is the deity of healing, favoring compassion, righteousness, and creativity. An empathetic deity, he has been known to ease suffering and bring relief to the unfortunate. To those who cause evil or perpetuate cruelty, however, he punishes with suffering and ill fortune. It is said that Crytos was once a white dragon, transformed by magic into a powerful being able to heal any illness. Posted May 16, 2014 (edited) π ₪ Ж Lore Ж ₪ π While not necessarily pertaining to a specific dragon, these stories are perhaps even more important to chronicle. Stories involving Gaelwe's past, and hints at what events may be to come. Anyone can add to the lore of Gaelwe. Make suggestions! Write backstory! It's an entire kingdom, after all, and not a very young one at that. π ₪ Ж The Ardents Ж ₪ π Servants of the King and Queen, the Ardents claim more myth than truth... but they are often just as terrifying as their legends say. Little is known about this specially designed group of dragons, just that they are terrifyingly good at their job. There are hundreds of stories, but those who seek the truth concerning these dragons tend to disappear. Those few lucky eyewitnesses talk of dragons whose features have been hidden by some impregnable magic. Other, more frightening rumors whisper of magical conditioning that allows these dragons to blend in with the common population until called upon. π ₪ Ж Dragon Mountain Ж ₪ π Legend speaks of a dragon the size of a mountain, terrorizing the countryside. It was defeated long ago, though, and sealed within the heart of a volcano... There is only one volcano on the isle of Gaelwe. Whether or not it is the same volcano, no one is certain, and whether or not the volcano is really a dragon is often scoffed at. It does have a guardian, though, but whether that guardian was put in place by ancient warriors hoping to keep a gigantic dragon sealed, or some crazy old fool who believes the tale is unknown. π ₪ Ж The Eternity Chalice Ж ₪ π (Added by LwyllasLaVey) When filled with water, it heals all ailments, both mental and physical; when filled with blood, it grants invincibility. The Eternity Chalice does not look at all important at first sight; it's a worn stone bowl with low edges and hardly any ornaments. But it possesses a great power: when one drinks water from it, all their ailments - both those of the mind and the body - are healed. Tucked away in the heart of the jungle lies the Temple of Runes. The tall, mossy structure has been standing for as long as anyone can remember, no one knows who built it, or what it's purpose was. Etched all over the ancient stone are thousands of odd, unreadable rune-like writings, all seemingly different from one another. The temple carries a mystic aura, and no creature ever goes near it. Posted May 18, 2014 (edited) Sounds awesome! I hope you don't mind when I contribute some of my own ideas to your story. They don't necessesarily have to intertwine. Name: Irryn Kuu VI Lwyllas Lineage Position: Captain of the Guard? War Queen of the Amazon Wing? Lady Commander? I don't know, I can't pick one. Why: Hailing from an old and noble line of Moonstones, the Kuu lineage, Irryn was brought up to have dignity and wisdom. She was taught to manage her subjects, fight and mediate between enemies. However, when her first official courtship ended in bloodshed and tragedy, she retreated from the ongoings of the court and dedicated herself to the ways of war, defending the kingdom from its enemies wanting to seize a powerful artifact in the King's treasure chamber - the Eternity Chalice. When filled with water, it heals all ailments, both mental and physical; when filled with blood, it grants immortality. She lead the armies of Gaelwe and it became evident that she had a knack for strategy. Washed clean from her former shame, she recreated her image, gathering respect and admiration. While at war, she met a vicious, brainwashed warrior with no memories from his past serving her enemies. He captured Irryn and brought her to his master, expecting to receive orders to kill her. However, she had other intentions. They fought and Irryn almost killed him while escaping, casting him to the depths of the ocean. She rejoined her comrades. The warrior did not die in the ocean as Irryn believed. The traumatic experience caused him to regain his memories and he emerged from the ocean, weak and reborn. He traveled alone for some time, fighting against his former master and coping with his new condition. He crossed paths with Irryn again when he was tracking a powerful witch. Irryn learned that the warrior's name was Chraellor and he wished nothing more to bring down those who had broken him. They joined forces. Although Irryn was suspicious of Chraellor at first, they became fire-forged friends when Chraellor showed his gratitude to Irryn, willing to lay down his life to protect her. Chraellor became Irryn's trusted companion and later her consort and father of her children. [Chraellor Kuu VI Lwyllas is a PB Royal Blue and hasn't been bred yet.] Name: Yathera Lwyllas Lineage Position: The Black Coalition, Right Hand. Why: Yathera is an expert in brainwashing and breaking spirits. She captures her enemies or has them captured for her and plays with their minds until they no longer have a sense of their identities. She is ambitious and fearless, more than willing to walk over corpses to achieve her goals. She hates being overshadowed and has plans to overtrow the Emperor and take his place. The Emperor relies of her much more than it is evident. She supplies him with servants, advice and dark magic. Her quick and competent action has saved his skin and empire more than once. He is aware of her power and knows he has to tread carefully around her. Edited May 18, 2014 by LwyllasLaVey Share this post Link to post
Posted May 18, 2014 Those three are awesome! Irryn sounds like the leader of the Strifelorn Wing, and you can change the title if you don't like Baron/Baroness (I was just trying to throw some variety in there, lol). I am more than happy to incorporate those stories! In fact, I'm going to make a Lore post. If you come up with more lore, I'm sure it'd be fun to add. This thread should be more about putting the kingdom of Gaelwe together, and that includes all the history and so forth. If you're inspired, you can write up some legends about dragons in Gaelwe's history - you don't necessarily have to have them on your scroll. Share this post Link to post
Posted May 18, 2014 (edited) I think it's better to make the titles consistent; for example the leader of each clan is Archduke/Archduchess and the titles go lower from there. Here's the wikipedia page on noble ranks. Irryn is actually a character from an another story of mine that is probably never going to be written so I thought why not make her into a dragon. Her backstory is that she is a second daughter of a king-like figure so if she had been an heir apparent/ruler, she wouldn't have run away like that; she has to have a level of irresponsibility. I can always add more dragons, though, so that's not a problem. I love making up characters. I can enter her parents, siblings, servants, whatever. The thing about the Eternity Chalice - the dragons are pretty much immortal, so maybe it would be better if it granted invincibility or something like that. Name: Oxalla Kuu V Lwyllas Lineage Position: Archduchess of Strifelorn Wing Why: Oxalla is as one would expect an Archduchess to be: noble, just, patient and properly behaved. Her peers can look up to her in their hour of need and she would grant them the help needed. She manages the affairs of her state without effort and with grace. There have been complaints that she is too strict and she would soon distance herself from life and rule blindly by laws only but that has yet to happen. Whenever Oxalla makes an appearance, she is every inch of the Archduchess she has to be. That is, on the outside. Having to choose between leading the Wing in war and bringing up three rather difficult children has left her jaded and cynical. She faces hard decisions with cold, hard logic only someone with her experience would have. Making those decisions often involves stepping on some toes and has left her with some enemies. When the courtship of her middle child, Irryn, went awry, she confronted her and informed her daughter that as a lady, it is preferable that Irryn have control over her actions, that she should not bring those kind of scandals into the public eye and that she must work to undo her shame. Oxalla later regretted her harsh words but by that time, Irryn was already engaged in fighting (secretly too ashamed to bear the presence of her family) and she could not apologize. Lineage Name: Calerin Kuu V Lwyllas Position: Archduke Consort (in Gaelwe, when one of the spouses does not have a rank, they are given the title [rank of spouse] Consort) Sorry for the formalities, tell me if I'm gettin too caught up in details. Why: Calerin was a novice magician in the Timeless Wing when he caught the eye of the young heiress of the Strifelorn Wing. The pair got along like a house on fire. One would think that they would soon marry in secret but Oxalla was not so foolish. Knowing that her parents would not allow her to marry a mere novice, she urged Calerin to practice the magic arts and become the Chief of Chiefs or at least a renowed and respected shaman. As good plans are wont to do, it would not become to fruition; the position of Chief of Chiefs was already filled and Calerin's cousin took the title of Shaman Queen for herself. The lack of ambition on his side could be blamed for this. Oxalla's parents learned of this affair and had a conversation with their eldest daughter. There was much less drama and despair as one would assume; Archduke Rayald was a sensible man and an agreement was reached: Oxalla and Calerin could marry but Calerin was not to interfere in the process of ruling. Calerin was delighted with such arrangement and became a devouted father and husband. He is probably the main reason his and Oxalla's children did not become complete nutcases. [irryn's eldest sister and younger brother are yet to be bred.] Name: Calah CB Lwyllas Lineage Position: Warrior of the Strifelorn Wing, guardian and servant to Lady Commander Irryn. Why: Calah grew up in a very poor, war-torn area. From an early age, she was forced to learn to fight. The fact she was a Mint Dragon made her life very hard. Nonetheless, she clawed herself to the top, becoming a trusted companion of Lady Commander Irryn. Calah knows how to fight with almost nothing. Even when she is trapped in a bare, locked room, she will break out, kill her guards and make her way back to the Strifelorn Wing. Her quick wit and resourcefulness has kept her alive since she can remember. Lineage Name: Ellael CB Lwyllas Position: Shaman Queen of the Timeless Wing Why: Ellael did not show great talent in her youth. In fact, she was downright bad at the magical arts. The teasing from the other children in the Timeless Wing drove her fragile ego almost over the edge but some timely help from her elders saved her peers from a storm of fury. Determined to show the bullies she vowed to become the greatest Shaman Queen in history. Ellael did not become the greatest one is history but she did become accomplishes enough to earn the respect she thought she deserved. (I know that Calerin and Ellael are supposed to be related but I didn't want to include so many Moonstones.) Edited May 18, 2014 by LwyllasLaVey Share this post Link to post
Posted May 19, 2014 Woot! More characters! The thing with the different wings is that they do not have the same structures. They are only loosely "wings" - for example, the Sylph Wing is entirely comprised of the Fairy Queen and everyone she's enchanted, while the Skysworn Wing is practically its own kingdom, and the Timeless Wing is a collection of nomads. For this reason, I'm avoiding using the same titles for any of them (though Planestriders and Skysworn are both Lord/Lady Wings). Thanks for the suggestion, though. It is, however, perfectly acceptable for you to come up with titles for your dragons. And thanks for not submitting only Moonstones I think I understand Irryn a little better now, and I'd suggest Captain of the Guard. And one other thing; would you mind making your descriptions short enough for flavor text? (I'm thinking about as long as the other entries I have) Unless you're not interested in giving them descriptions. *Notice I've put Irryn as the Secondborn in the Strifelorn Wing - I will add a note about what her main title is, but being in that family still implies that she has that position. Unless she has completely disappeared and remade herself, the other dragons in Gaelwe will consider it as one of her titles, whether it's her favorite or one she's ashamed of or doesn't care either way. Posted May 20, 2014 (edited) Unless you have any objections, LwyllasLaVey, I'm going to put Irryn as the Captain of the Guard. Let me know where you want to put Chraellor. Edited May 20, 2014 by Desanui Share this post Link to post
Posted May 20, 2014 Chraellor is her 1st lieutenant. About Calah, though, she more Irryn's guard than a Strifelorn warrior. And I'm gonna make those descriptions, it's just that I'm kinda busy right now, finals and all. I've been under (really hot and stuffy) weather lately. Also, I'm probably gonna enter more dragons. I'm really infatuated this idea, I'm not gonna give up with this. Share this post Link to post

Posted May 21, 2014 Name: Wings-of-Darkness (usually known as Darkness to close friends/allies/others of similar rank) Lineage: http://dragcave.net/lineage/tutSc Position: War Queen (Amazon Wing) Why: Darkness grew up in the Timeless Wing to parents that had left the main camp/group/whatever you want to call it, so the vast majority of her days were spent alone, or else learning "life's great lessons" from her mother while her father scouted for danger. Members of the Black Coalition traveled deep into the kingdom, eventually finding Darkness's parents. A Brute is not easily defeated, but as there were only two against twenty or so, they were quickly killed. Days passed before Darkness ventured out to discover what had happened: and she did. A blood-spattered clearing, with burnt corpses, was where her parents died. After several years of living alone--in which she had a son with a Strifelorn male Radiant Angel--Darkness stumbled across the Amazon Wing and joined them, working her way up through the ranks in order to prove herself--and in hopes of avenging her parents' deaths. (will post her son's form and her son's father's form tomorrow, or whenever I can get on next) Share this post Link to post
Posted May 21, 2014 Whooo~! Backstory's good! She's in. And take your time. :3 The main "camp/group/whatever" is the capital. I'll go back and mark it. Share this post Link to post
Posted May 21, 2014 (edited) This looks interesting. I think I have a few dragons that might apply. Name: Laugh Lineage: http://dragcave.net/lineage/hLafl Position: Grunt, Black Coalition Why: Laugh is not a funny dragon, in fact his laugh is usually heard when he gets to kill someone in a particularly slow and painful way. He is very proud of his "art" of killing and craves admiration, which is why he started accepting work as a hitman. He hates following rules other than his own, but he can be extremely loyal and efficient if allowed to use his own methods, and he's not afraid of getting his claws dirty. Name: Kohmelo Lineage: http://dragcave.net/lineage/IgVHS Position: Pagan Preacher/Storyteller, Timeless Wing Why: As the firstborn son of the king and queen of his Lumina clan, he was expected to be even more vain that other Luminas. Name: Flash Of The Blade Lineage: http://dragcave.net/lineage/nZGBg Position: Warrior, Amazon Wing Why: Flash Of The Blade is very fast even by Whiptail standards and has always used her skill to defend slower, weaker or smaller dragons. She is always on the move, scouting the area for threats (or food). Provoking or even just annoying her is a very stupid idea, but when she's not in fighting mode she can be a lot of fun to be around. Edited May 22, 2014 by dustpuppy Share this post Link to post
Posted May 21, 2014 Hello, hello! Welcome to Gaelwe! I love these dragons! I was thinking of something a little different for the Assassin of the Black Coalition, but I'll be happy to add "Wordweaver" if that sounds like a good title for Kohmelo, and Flash of the Blade sounds like an Amazon Wing warrior. Let me know if you have any objections :3 Share this post Link to post
Posted May 21, 2014 Okay, my finals are pretty much over and I'm in a much better mood! I'm gonna do those descriptions now. Lady Commander Irryn carries an aura of authority with her; she is a true war-chief. Defended by her trusted companions, Calah and Chraellor, she leads the Strifelorn forces against the Black Coalition. She believes in justice even when it is not achievable. Yathera is vicious and fearless. Once a dragon has had time alone with her, they do not want to see her again. She breaks minds and manipulates dragons to her own ends. Seeming an ordinary grunt at first sight, Yathera is actually one of the most powerful forces in the Empire. Archduchess Oxalla has been brought up as a ruler and rule she is. Noble, just and confident, she has set an excample for her three children they desperately try to live up to. She has more often than not chosen her Wing over her children and sometimes she regrets her harsh words. Starting out a novice magician in the Timeless Wing, Calerin would not have thought that he would end up as a consort to the Archduchess. Uninterested in court matters, he focused on raising his children instead. He did a decent job with that. Calah is actually a low-born commoner. That did not stop her from becoming a fearsome warrior. Resourceful and skilled wth the ways of battle, she rose through the ranks and became Irryn's loyal bodyguard. The fact that she is a Mint dragon does not hinder her at all. Ellael is short-tempered and hardworking. She is very picky about with whom she mingles. This makes her duties as Shaman Queen somewhat harder but she doesn't really mind. As long as she lives up to her position, Ellael is happy. The Eternity Chalice does not look at all important at first sight; it's a worn stone bowl with low edges and hardly any ornaments. But it possesses a great power: when one drinks water from it, all their ailments - both those of the mind and the body - are healed. It does have a darker use though: when the Eternity Chalice is filled with fresh dragon blood, it makes its user invincible - no fang or claw can harm them then. That is why the Eternity Chalice is locked away in the King Mektamn's Treasure Vault and only those who sorely need to be heal are granted the use of it. Share this post Link to post

Flash Of The Blade is an amazo warrior then, should I write a bit more about her position or is the description okay as it is? I didn't want to include the position in the description right away before it was decided. Do you think Laugh should be a grunt or does he fit better in the group of dragons with no affiliation? Posted May 21, 2014 (edited) I think Laugh could fit in either one, to be honest. It's up to you. I think Flash of the Blade's description is fine. I'm adding her and Kohmelo in. I will say that Kohmelo's description is a little long, though. Do you think you could shorten it? Edited May 21, 2014 by Desanui Share this post Link to post
Posted May 21, 2014 (edited) Name: Pure Dark Radiance (usually called Dark) Lineage: http://dragcave.net/lineage/rbCrL Position: Chief, Timeless Wing Why: As a young hatchling, Dark grew up under the tutelage of his mother, Wings-of-Darkness. But when the pair joined the Amazon Wing, it was just a short while later that Dark left as a full-grown adult. He knew only too well how fast his mother was moving up in the ranks, and when she reached the highest one possible the rare bond between them would fray and break, burdened by her duties. As Dark never knew his father, it was clear that Dark couldn't go to him. If Dark had lived in any other wing, he might have stayed, but if he couldn't follow his mother upward in the ranks (as he was male and the Amazon Wing was female-oriented) then there was no reason for him to stay. So Dark traveled throughout the kingdom, and several times it crossed his mind to join a wing, but none really appealed to him as being just right. Even the Black Coalition jumped into his thoughts, but, remembering his mother's history, he abandoned that idea. After several years alone either Dark stumbled upon the Timeless Wing, or the Timeless Wing found him. Anyway, Dark joined the nomads--he was essentially one, but hadn't planned to wander around the kingdom alone forever. After they learned to trust each other Dark was promoted to a chief, and carries out his job well. Edited May 24, 2014 by heavenuniasus Share this post Link to post
Posted May 21, 2014 The Sylph Wing isn't a kingdom, per se. It is all those who have been enchanted by the Fairy Queen, i.e. have been ensnared, trapped, charmed, so forth. The Sylph Wing is the Fairy Queen as she travels around with her entourage. Share this post Link to post

I will say that Kohmelo's description is a little long, though. Do you think you could shorten it? In that case, I'd say grunt for Laugh. I shortened Kohmelo's story, is it better now? If it's still too long, the part in brackets could just be left out as well. Share this post Link to post

Posted May 23, 2014 Umm, sorry, not exactly. See, everyone in the Sylph Wing is basically the mindless servant of the Fairy Queen. If you're looking for a high rank, the Cliffscales Wing doesn't have leaders yet (though admittedly, they're supposed to be corrupt) or you could be a captain in the Capital. Or a Noble/Advisor. Or a chief in the Timeless Wing. I'm not even quite sure what dragon type the Fairy Queen would be (maybe a Glory Drake, but new dragons might be cool too), and I sorta don't really want to touch the Sylph Wing until the Fairy Queen is established. Sorry. Share this post Link to post
