Heatran listened as Groudon talked. It was good that they weren't fighting as much, but the unhealthy communication could bring back those fights. Heatran had no fights in the last few years, except the random headstrong sandshrew or blue equine legendary thing. Her life was surely lonely, but she didn't care most of the time. If the world didn't need her at the time, she went to sleep in her volcano not emerging for several months.

She listened to the other thing that Groudon said. Perhaps it was primal urges? Or maybe Arceus made them soley to fight each other. Rayquaza is probably what kept them alive. If the fights went on long enough, several thousands could die. She couldn't think of anything to say. She was the therapist right now, listening to Groudons troubles.

Groudon felt tired. Tired of fighting the same battle, tired of constant conflict and then sleeping till the next battle, tired of dealing with it alone. Looking at Heatran, he gave a faint smile, "Thanks for sticking around. I need this "vacation time" more than you know. Maybe I can learn to have fun again... But... I'm going to need someone who can help me with that." Every word from Groudon's mouth was true. He needed this time and a friend to enjoy it with. Heatran was that friend. Groudon made volcanoes, Heatran gave them life. It was that pairing that made them friends.

In the back of Groudon's mind, he was troubled by leaving his domain in Hoenn. Something felt off, whether it was fear for Kyogre taking advantage of his leave, or something bigger was threatening the peace. Either way, he didn't like it.

"Everyone needs their vacation time. And I'm sure you need it more than most. And you can learn to have fun again. Or make fun out of your duties. Anyways, I'm here for you. Heatran thought of the first time they met, she though he was destroying the land when he was simply creating a husk of a volcano. She filled it when he left, but he didn't see her do it. Heatran thought about her powers to create volcanoes, or to simply shoot magma out of the ground. Perhaps they could actually create a 'pool' of magma for fire and ground pokemon. Kyogre wouldn't get mad because it wouldn't hurt his ocean at all.

They were still on the mountain. She careened her head to scan the horizon. Nothing seemed out of place, or wrong. Yet the presence of evil still floated in her conscience. It must be horrible if I can feel it like this.

Groudon smiled at Heatran's friendly words and thought for a moment. If he was a going to have fun, he was going to need to find something that one of his size could do. He turned to Heatran and remembered her situation. "Why don't you escort me to this pony. I'm sure if can make it never return to your territory ever again... Without killing it."

At times, Groudon enjoyed being bigger than most if not everyone on land. It made him hard to ignore and even harder to beat. Kyogre would have had the same respect if Wailords weren't bigger, but Groudon didn't care about his opposites life under water. The air, sun, and soil under Groudon's feet was all he needed to be happy. He could care less for the water, he didn't even need to drink.

Uxie smiled, a little exasperatedly. "There are many lakes on this planet, although most of them do not have protectors. There is Celebi, I suppose, of Ilex, but her domain encompasses much more than her lake." She crossed her arms, trying to think. "And there's the Lake of Rage...sometimes referred to as Gyarados Lake for the myths of a red Gyarados residing there. We could simply fly over and confirm that! Can you imagine? It would be almost simple for us to reveal the truth." Her tails began swishing again. "Although, I suppose, if Arceus had a mission or the lakes were compromised in the meantime...perhaps we shouldn't go so far." She whipped her tails in frustration - and hit the surface of the water, sending up a splash. Pouting, she flicked a few droplets at Mesprit. "Come on, convince me it's a good idea. I want to go. Isn't that your job?"

((Fun fact: One of the translators said that if he'd been on the team during gen II, he would have named the RageCandyBar the Cake of Rage. AMAZING OPPORTUNITY MISSED))

And Darkrai was gone again. Always running from everything. They hadn't even gotten to discuss anything - although it was her who had suggested talking to Keldeo in the first place. But never mind that. Why was Groudon here? She glanced in the direction the beast had gone, squinting at the harsh sunlight. Cresselia normally ignored the other legendary Pokemon in favour of her duty, but excessive sunlight tended to weaken her powers. And she needed her powers now, more than ever.

Shrugging the issue aside for now, she headed for Keldeo. "It would be wise to do some research before you decide to side with Darkrai," she said quietly, looking down at the pony. "He is dangerous. He causes nightmares with his very presence. It is not his intention to, or so he claims, but nonetheless it is unadvisable to stand by him for long periods of time. I am - one could say I am his counterpart. My duty is to prevent his damage. It is best that you do not interfere - but considering your challenge to Heatran earlier, I doubt I will convince you." She smiled. The expression did not quite reach her eyes. "If you have pressing questions, ask them now. I must go after him soon."

Keldeo snorted softly as she eventually was forced back onto all fours. Staying on two legs was difficult since it brought all sorts of balancing issues into play. But dramatic poses were much easier to strike when she could use her legs like arms. Dramatic poses that she had often practiced while using a body of water as a mirror to check how utterly cool she was. Yes, striking poses was difficult but the reward of looking spectacular made it entirely worth while.

Keldeo opened her eyes in surprise at Darkrai's return to her utterly fantastic offer to kick butt. Wait… so he was a bad guy? But he couldn't be a bad guy! He seemed like a really cool guy and much more timid than that. She rolled her eyes and waved a hoof dismissively, refusing to believe the things he said about himself. She opened her mouth to cut him off when he suddenly stopped himself and flinched away. The pony tilted her head to the side and blinked several times, not understanding what was going on immediately.

Keldeo turned her head towards whatever had scared the pokemon off and immediately took notice of Heatran and… Groudon! Her eyes began to sparkle with a challenge as she identified the pokemon through the harsh sunlight. She knew that one, at least. After fighting Heatran, she had been going to go on to Groudon and Kyogre. Then Rayquaza, if she could find them. But before she could set off after the two, another voice called her attention. She turned her head instead to the strange creature looking down upon her. Just like Darkrai, she had never seen this pokemon before. But she seemed to know of Darkrai, at least.

"I don't see why I would need research if he isn't trying to do anything wrong," The pony pointed out with a frown. "If other pokemon are being mean for no reason, that's every reason for me to side with him. You should know that if you're his counterpart." She turned and flicked her tail before starting away. "I'll use my amazing tracking skills to find him later. For now, I'm going to go fight Heatran again!" She smirked and quickly started off in the direction the two fire pokemon had gone. She'd fight Groudon after but Heatran came first.

Jirachi nodded, staring intently at his friend as she closed her eyes. The sensation of teleporting was… strange. Jirachi's eyes widened as the background suddenly shifted and his entire body felt, true to the Victini's words, tingly. He looked around at the forest in confusion then down at his numbed hands. It felt like when his tiny feet fell asleep, except his whole body! But he didn't focus on that for long and instead beamed at their surroundings, his eyes wide. "Woah!" He yelled then looked back at Victini. "Are we here? Is this it?"

It was good for Groudon to have fun. It would definitely help, and maybe make him a tad bit stronger. "Follow me, mister big guy." She scuttled across the rocky terrain Less than a minute, the Lava Dome pokemon reached the clearing just outside the forest where Keldeo was, and appeared to be talking to Cresselia. Heatran and Groudon were just off the the left of Keldeo, slightly behind her. " Here ya go. Im curious to see what you do to the pony." She took a step back and lifted up her right paw against her chest, as if bowing. "The spotlight is now on you."

Just then, Keldeo turned towards the pairing and started moving. This was going to be good.

Keldeo blinked several times as the Groudon and Heatran returned. It seemed like instead of fighting Heatran like she had intended, she was going to have to fight Groudon first. Immediately, the pony frowned and turned to look at Heatran again. "But we aren't finished," She insisted as she started to approach the two, honing in on the Heatran. "I haven't lost yet!" She added, raising her voice slightly. She rose up then smashed her hooves into the ground, breaking a few rocks into smaller pieces. "Fight me and then I'll fight him. But I want to fight you first!"

Groudon looked at the pony, thinking it was going to be about the size of a Rapidash. It was smaller. He listen to the small female horse, unicorn thing as it challenged Heatran specifically, then Groudon afterwards. Not sure what to say in the situation, he looked at Heatran. "Do you want to do as it wants and fight it first? I see no harm in waiting my turn to prove a point. By judging her demeanor and coloration, she has a type advantage over you, not that it matters for someone as skilled as yourself. A very good challenge to hone your skills."

From what Groudon could tell, Heatran won their first fight barely. While the result would probably end the same, Heatran had gained a huge advantage just by having Groudon there. The sunlight that followed Groudon on the surface would passively boost Heatran's fire power while weakening the water moves of the horse pokemon. If the horse wanted to win, Fighting type moves was the only real way she was going to win against Heatran.

Keldeo was determined to win this time and she had plans after both of these two. Specifically, she wanted to carry on to fight Kyogre and Rayquaza. Since Groudon was right in front of her, she might as well ask. So she turned to the pokemon and gestured with a hoof towards him. "Speaking of challenges, you wouldn't happen to have any idea where Kyogre and Rayquaza are, would you?" She asked. "I want to fight them next. Of course, that involves me trying to find them so I thought maybe you would know something or other. I just wanted to ask before, you know, I win."

"I'm not here to fight you, little girl. Don't flatter yourself.' She turned her head towards Groudon. "This guy wants to teach you a listen, pony." The ferocious Heatran was here. But she wasn't the one to be fighting right now. That was Groudons honor. " Perhaps after this you will remember to stay in your home. Perhaps located behind a boulder in a cave." She had enough with this equine. It was Groudons turn to pummel her. Or do whatever he planned on doing. Plus, the little brat would probably be evaporated if she fought Heatran again. The first time, she was kept alive. The second time, she would be at the bottom of the ocean before she was done.

"I don't need my skills to be honed. Im perfectly fine. Her type variation wouldn't matter anyway. The only water ability that would do harm to be is Rain Dance or an ice type move. I'm magma, it would turn to steam instantly." This wasn't entirely true. Water types would hurt her, but they would turn to steam after touching her. And if she raised her heat levels the water would evaporate before touching her. "So, I'm going to let you fight her first, Groudon."

Groudon looked at Heatran thinking about she said, "Rain dance won't work... Only Kyogre can make it rain around me. But if you are sure I should fight first, I see no reason to argue." Groudon stepped forward as the ground shook under him. He got 20ft from Keldeo and stopped. Looking down on her, he answered her, "Rayquaza is thousands of feet above us in the atmosphere, and Kyogre is thousands of feet under water... Both of which are out of your range... As for winning, your first mistake is assuming victory. But I guess that is something I will need to teach you. By the way, I didn't catch your name."

Groudon sized Keldeo up. He was probably three times her height and could probably could kill her if he landed on her. If she had anything on him, it was speed. Other than that, Groudon wasn't expecting a challenge.

"Set high goals and even if you fall short, you'll still be pretty well off," Keldeo countered with a frown but refused to enter a battling position or even prepare herself to counter attack. She continued to train her sight on Heatran instead. "Our fight from before was not finished," She replied, digging her hooves into the ground stubbornly. "I will not start another until we've settled our previous encounter. You threw me off a cliff. I refuse to accept that as the end to our battle since neither of us yielded. So fight me first and then I'll fight him," She gestured with her head to Groudon, her eyes narrowing as she did so. "Refusal to continue a fight is automatically taken to be forfeit," She added.

Groudon looked at Keldeo as though he was observing her. What surprised him was her persistence and her knowledge of battle etiquette. Looking at Heatran, he shrugged. "The water horse is correct in her statement. The battle must be continued until a victory is decided or one of the challengers declines, resulting in the victory for the other. I am not one to interfere an ongoing challenge between you two."With that Groudon stepped back so it was Heatran and Keldeo facing each other. As much as he wanted to help Heatran out, the challenge was between him. It would be dishonorable to interfere or take her place.

Heatran grumbled something. Of course the pony didn't take falling off a cliff and nearly dying a loss. She immediately started charging up a Hyper Beam. She fired it at the blue pony before it could speak again, probably seen as rude from the pony. This was going to be finished this time. The Hyper Beam took a bit of power from Heatran, but she was already resting up. This pony is going straight into magma. She nearly willed lava and magma to come forth from the ground standing under Keldeo, but she wasn't that evil. Besides, Groudon would know about the magma if it rose more than 3 inches. She settled for pummeling Keldeo.

Landorus was glad his temper rarely shows its head. Several Gigalith had attacked him for no reason. He tried to negotiate with them, but it was no use. Instead, he had to work with Hammer Arm and Stone Edge. The gigalith had left after defeat, but it was still wrong for them to attack him, in his own cave. Perhaps they were lost at the time. It was the only probable cause of the situation.

Keldeo quickly threw herself to the side, narrowly avoiding the hyper beam as it shot by her tail. Were they starting now? Fine! In response to the Hyper Beam, Keldeo quickly multiplied with a Double Team. She had to make sure she had the evasion advantage so the attacks would miss. But now that it was sunny, her water moves would be less effective. But she still had her fighting moves. Quickly, the Keldeo and her copies leapt forward, advancing on Heatran. Keldeo's eyes began to glow red as she repeatedly tried to strike the Heatran with her hooves and horn using Close Combat. It was her most powerful fighting move and would probably deal some damage.

Heatran had trained to go against her weaknesses, but the close combat still hurt. Keldeo had damaged her right leg and above the head. Especially from 10 ponies. Heatran leaped forward after a full cycle of kicks, bites, and punches. She went straight through 3 impostors and landed on a grassy part of the clearing. She scuttled across the grass and onto rock, doing all this before getting attacked again. She created a fire inferno again by using Magma Storm on the ground below her. After it was self-sustaining, she launched Flash Cannon at the ground, weak enough not to break the rocky terrain, but enough to bounce upwards and add to the inferno. The only way she was going to get hurt was if Keldeo actually jumped into her tornado of fire and steel.I'm not giving this thing a chance.

Keldeo had learnt from her last battle with Heatran about not throwing herself into flaming vortexes. The flame had to go away eventually, right? In the mean time, she could idle herself with as many Double Teams as she could before Heatran realized what she was trying to do. She didn't know if Heatran had any moves accurate enough to strike her through a

double Team but those were pretty weak anyway from her experience of fighting. So instead of stubbornly charging forward, Keldeo and her remaining ponies retreated backwards away from the raging inferno.

Together, each one of them began to divide further in the attempts to amass a small army of the clones before each and every one of them turned around. Their actions were synced to the original Keldeo's so, in unison, they all bucked up onto their front legs and unleashed a Hydro Pump at the swirling vortex of magma. It was the only possible way she could try to deal with the fire since throwing herself into it had worked rather poorly last time and she was unwilling to attempt it again.

Apparently, Keldeo had learned from the last incident, but she still didn't know that Heatran could see out. Granted, it wasn't as clear with the flash cannon whirring around. Nonetheless, Heatran watched as the ponies took a few steps backwards, then gathered into groups and turned around. 'What are they doing? Apparently, the last battle between them knocked some strategy into Keldeo. She wasn't as rash or arrogant as last time. Heatran quickly willed Iron Head and dug into the ground, using the combination of an actually steel head and the boosted power of an Iron Head. She done this just in time as the water roared through her Magma Storm and Flash cannon, and went just above her body inside the hole. The water extinguished most of it, leaving hazy lines in the air. Although, the fire just underneath the rushing water survived. Heatran rushed to turn the right way and to shoot a Magma Storm before it went out all together. She got the right way and launched Magma Storm. Just in time. The inferno raged with a new power. She got the tornado back up to self-sustaining, then dug underground with Iron Head. Albeit, it wasn't as fast or efficient as the actual move Dig. It worked though, and thats what Heatran needed. Her head started aching but she had to keep going. She turned around and unleashed a Flash Cannon on the roof of the makeshift cave, causing rocks to tumble down and block the path behind her. She willed Iron Head to disperse, and waited just a few feet behind the blocked path.

Keldeo lowered her hooves back to the ground and turned around, only to find the Magma storm had been practically untouched. With a scowl, she turned back around again to launch another Hydro Pump at the Magma Storm. As she raised her hooves in the air, her eyes caught notice of large cracks appearing in the ground beneath her. Quickly, she planted her feet back down on the ground and darted away as the ground near the Magma Storm caved in. She landed on stable ground near Groudon with a frown and glanced back. Her clones were scattered around the area, looking just as confused as she was. The Magma Storm raged on so that was what she would target for now. But the cracks were confusing and alarming. What was Heatran planning? "Just come out and fight me!" Keldeo yelled before kicking her legs up and launching more water from her hooves at the swirling vortex.

If the pony thought Heatran would come out because of the taunts, she was wrong. She would come out though. Using Iron Head again, began digging again and she leaped into the ground and broke into the air. She kept sailing, about 15 feet above the army of ponies. She hurried and chose a squad of Keldeos and unleashed a Hyper Beam on them. The Hyper Beam gave her extra momentum, allowing her to stay in the air a few moments more. She dived towards the ground again, and willed Iron Head. Digging again, she stopped using Iron Head and unleashed a magma storm out of the hole. This made sure the pony couldn't come back behind her. 1 troop of clones down, a whole lot left to go.

Causing more cracks in the ground, Heatran kept digging. Her master plan was cause the ground to splinter because of the network of tunnels. She would then unleash a Magma Storm and it would engulf the underground area and make leaving a rock island require being burned. It was last minute strategy, but Heatran was sure it would work.

Keldeo watched in shock was Heatran was suddenly in the air and managed to wipe out an entire squad of the clones. However, these were quickly replaced as Keldeo knew her only shot at winning was her speed and clones. She had to make sure that she wasn't the only target. But before she could launch a counter attack, Heatran was back into the hole and a massive Magma Storm was spilling forth from it. Keldeo grimaced then willed her clones to spread out. One squad took the lower ground while another took the higher ground. Her own moved towards the middle of the squads so it wasn't apparent which she was hiding in.

Carefully, Keldeo watched. The cracks in the ground quickly started, moving away from the hole currently spewing fire. Keldeo grimaced then slammed her hooves into the ground, trying to weasel them into the cracks. Her clones copied and she gritted her teeth, bracing herself against the shock that was sure to come.

At once, the clones released water from their hooves, aiming to completely soak the ground and fill the cracks forming with water. They'd flood whatever tunnels Heatran was trying to make. Some of the clones were sent skyrocketing from the force of the water and awkwardly floated about, the water allowing them to fly rather strangely. But Keldeo herself managed to keep her hooves wedged in the holes she had created by stomping, along with most of the clones. Still, that was a good idea. She needed to invest some serious time into the idea of flying with water power.

Actually… His destination would be Sinnoh. After giving it some thought, that seemed like the best place. Kanto was more of an afterthought but the three lakes in Sinnoh were often a target of his purification. So he would strike there next. With the speed of the North Wind on his side, traveling there could not take too long.

What was that sound? Water. A lot of it. The Hydro Pumps roared throughout the tunnels, filling them up. Heatran was safe from behind, due to the Magma Storm. Although the water rushed into her corridor, flying at her. She unleashed a Magma Storm, holding it for around a minute. The magma had left dents in wall, which allowed for the Magma Storm to self sustain once again. I really love this power. And it was true. It was arguably her best move. The fire held off the water, but barely. She charged up a Hyper Beam to cut through the water. Raw power and strategy was her way to win. The Hyper Beam burst through the magma storm, completely extinguishing it, and straight against the Hydro Pump. The powerful beam was slowly pushing against the probably several tons of water. Thats when the roof caved in above Heatran.

She obviously extinguished her Hyper Beam, but now she was trapped on all sides. She couldn't get out without sever damage. Magma Storm wouldn't dent or destroy the rocks fast or well enough. Iron Head would cause rocks to fall on her back. She maneuvered so that her back was against the far wall, and unleashed a flash cannon. Bright light blinded Heatran as rocks were destroyed and water rushed in. She would've drowned if she hadn't spent hundreds of years swimming through magma without air. She propelled herself forward with the water hurting her. She finally reached an opening and flew into the air once again. Yet this time, she was too hurt to do anything. She fell back to the ground, too weak to get up and keep fighting.

The ground shook slightly as it caved in, much to Keldeo's surprise. What was even more surprising was that Heatran had not surfaced immediately. She had thought that using the Hydro Pump would drive Heatran out of hiding by filling the ground with water and forcing her up. But aside from the collapsing on the ground in one area, there was no sign of the pokemon she had been fighting. The water from the pony's hooves stopped as she pulled her hooves out of the holes she had wedged them into. Caution overtook her as she began to back up, expecting some kind of trick. The entire fight had been full of tricks on Heatran's part with her avoiding even making contact with Keldeo and instead hiding underground. How unfair was that? It certainly wasn't honorable.

Suddenly, a shape launched out of the ground, shattering through several clones in the area as it rocketed into the air. Keldeo narrowed her eyes and sprinted towards the shape, ready to release a Close Combat before Heatran managed to protect herself. But the pony quickly slowed down when she realized something was wrong and Heatran simply crashed down to the ground without attacking further or even trying to dig again. She wasn't moving… did that mean she won? Keldeo's eyes sparkled with joy as she kicked up her hooves with a whinny of happiness. She won, she won! "I'm the strongest!" The pony yelled gleefully, oblivious to how much damage Heatran had suffered. A good sport would have hurried to try to heal the other pokemon but Keldeo was too caught up in herself to realize that.

Groudon watched as the battle ended in Keldeo's favor. He grabbed an entire bush of Sitrus berries and ripped it out of the ground with his massive claws. Walking over to Keldeo, he threw it at her feet. "Congratulations on your victory." He said with a grunt. "You now gain the responsibility of helping the one you beat back to health. Take some of these to her and make sure she is okay."

Groudon tried not to show how irritated he was at the pony's ego and how she ignored Heatran after winning, but he was willing to assume she was young and ignorant. Regardless, it was her responsibility to act like the victor and help those she beat back to health, or face a dishonor worse than losing. When pokemon fought, rule were minor, but when legends fought, you had to follow the rules.
