Posted April 6, 2014 I'm really loving these hatchlings. Congratulations birdzgoboom and Odeen on having your dragons released I really love the little white hatchling, with the rounded head, small wings and light colors. I also can't wait to see how the chirping one will look as it grows. Those are already worth hoarding as hatchlings, such cute little things! You are fabulous. I am so dumb for not reading the fine print on his scroll with the egg pictures. No worries, happens to the best of us. Besides, it's called 'the fine print' for a reason There's an interesting thread here about Drakes in the DC world and Drakes outside of it (and it was surprising how many version there are out there, in very popular games, that also don't conform to the wingless quadruped idea) in which TJ posted. Looking at his replies I'm pretty sure that he wouldn't be calling them "Drakes" unless he meant the species that includes the Ochredrakes and the Glories. Frankly, and I could be wrong here, I don't think that "drake" is used in the DC world to describe any other dragons except those that are specific to this game. Judging by the Coast hatchling sprite, I agree with you on that these will probably be "drakes" in the sense that they will only breed with Orchedrakes and Glory Drakes. Thank you for the link, looks like some good reading for me I just read "It’s moistly white" in the description of one hatchie. Now who has to control themselves? Really, all of us are just getting worse as time goes by. Growing up is just an illusion, it seems Share this post Link to post
Posted April 6, 2014 Just got three of each. Thank you TJ, spriters, and - most importantly - thank you to the concept creators of both dragons! Honestly, without the people who came up with the ideas for these dragons, we wouldn't have their sprites today. Share this post Link to post

Birdz and I actually happen to be responsible for the concepts on our respective dragons as well, which is pretty convenient. Share this post Link to post

Ironically, it's also both of their third releases, and they each had a holiday release before this, and they each had a drake released as their third in-cave dragon Edited April 6, 2014 by PieMaster Share this post Link to post
Posted April 6, 2014 First time I caught new releases so "late" on the first day, a breeze with no stress. Thanks TJ and spriters!! Share this post Link to post
Posted April 6, 2014 wow - first time ever been able to get all 7 eggs in 10 minutes - only 20 people or so in each biome and they were still dropping solid - maybe this swapping the drop time idea is a good thing - for me anyway Share this post Link to post

Posted April 6, 2014 I was only able to get 4 jungle eggs I think , the coastal biome was empty Share this post Link to post
Posted April 6, 2014 After I got my four, went out and caught 3 more of the striped, since they seem to be harder to catch for some. Gonna AP them as soon as they come off cool down...then I'll go get some more. Share this post Link to post

Posted April 6, 2014 For some reason, the blue ones remind me of a tropical bird thing. I forgot the name. Instead of trading, I'm thinking of giving away two of the eggs I caught. Hopefully, they'll pick them up quickly so I can catch three of the brown ones. Share this post Link to post

As much as i abso-freaking-lutely LOVE their sprites(because they're absolutely amazing and gorgeous all the time!) I wish that TJ would introduce some newer spriters into the cave, because i feel like i have a lesser chance once i start really getting into spriting... Share this post Link to post
Posted April 6, 2014 Why thank you. Birdz and I actually happen to be responsible for the concepts on our respective dragons as well, which is pretty convenient. |D I would agree on the convenience of that as well. However, I don't know spriters by name or dragon design and I've never truly focused on any of the copyright tags in the fine print area. While I love the artwork and effort put into every dragon, I feel that the original idea creators, the writers, don't always get the attention I believe they deserve. I always see gratitude towards the artists but never towards the writers and it's really sad in my opinion. If I created a dragon for this site that got released, I would certainly love some recognition for my hardwork (though I'd be shy and embarrassed about it cause, really, what chances are there of that ever happening?) but I'm no spriter; I'd simply be the writer. It just doesn't seem truly fair. Plus, I see spriter alts and, as far as I know, that only goes to the spriters. Not all of the spriters created the dragons from the written word themselves. Posted April 6, 2014 (edited) He can't release new spriters every time. We just got new artists last release, too. They've each only had three releases, and both of them deserve these. They're very talented. Also, Birdz became an in-cave spriter this past November. She's a fairly recent in-caver, too. Edited April 6, 2014 by PieMaster Share this post Link to post

I kind of wish that those that came up with the idea of the dragon would get an alt sprite of it in some way. Not some thing totally different but maybe an identifying mark like a tattoo or something. Share this post Link to post

Walker actually has the first alt holiday without being a spriter. On topic, I like the fat tail of the blue one and the other seems to have a skull/ beak (?). Share this post Link to post

Posted April 6, 2014 (edited) Now that we have had the time of our lives having fun with the egg descriptions, having the time of out lives making some users very uncomfortable as a result, and seeing what the hatchlings have to show us, it is now time to announce the monthly NAME GAME!! *cheers* The Coast dragons sort between Geodes and Glory Drakes. The Jungle dragons sort between Horses and Ices. Let the game begin! Edited April 6, 2014 by RulenneClarissa Share this post Link to post

Eh, I'd just like to see the Completed List move faster than it does, but all in good time! There are people who have sprited tons of stuff and none of their things have been released yet. Just a matter of patience. c: I'm glad Birdz and Odeen are getting some spotlight action. I just hope this year's releases aren't ALL by them Then I would be certain conspiracy shenanigans are happening. That said, the hatchlings are adorbs and we really are lacking in the drake category. Pygmies have some variety and we just recently got a few more two-heads. Still hoping we get more of all three minorities though! I personally wouldn't even be mad if all of this year's releases included one (or all) of the three. Share this post Link to post
Posted April 6, 2014 (edited) If anyone's interested, we are about a minute away from 6 hours since release. And the rest of the biomes have eggs in them, including a beautiful glow that I couldn't get because I was locked. Edited April 6, 2014 by snave Share this post Link to post
Posted April 6, 2014 I saw the blue hatchling and I thought the Blue-Streaked dragon was released. They look so similar with the white body with blue just on the edge of the wings. That just makes me want to see the adults even more! Anyway, congrats to the spriters! So far they're both cute! Share this post Link to post
Posted April 6, 2014 Ooo the sprites are so cute looking. Thanks TJ and the spriters for them. Looking forward to see what the S2 and adults look like. Share this post Link to post
