Posted April 6, 2014 Yay, took a little while but got the two of each that I wanted! Thank you TJ, both the new eggs are gorgeous! Share this post Link to post
Posted April 6, 2014 I got my four new eggs in the 5 minute drop. That was very easy. ... And one of the blue drakes has the word GOD in it's code. o.o Share this post Link to post
Posted April 6, 2014 So if they turn out to be rares, the drop will only last one day? Sorry if it's an ignorant question, I was never around before during the rare releases. Past uncommon releases (mostly thinking of Coppers here) had the drops start mixing within an hour, and while TJ adjusted that so that the drops were extended a bit longer, they've effectively vanished from the cave since that first day. Blusangs were similar, from what I hear. We have no true rares (according to TJ) besides Golds/Silvers. Share this post Link to post
Posted April 6, 2014 As been not hunting for long while, are the other biomes dropping yet as per normal (still not used to new release drops) Share this post Link to post
Posted April 6, 2014 Answer: someone was faster than you. try again! We like new eggs. Everyone likes new eggs. Toss all of everyone who wants and likes new eggs into a pot together to get three at any one time, and you're not gonna have much success unless you have a lot faster internet than everybody else. You're in the same boat as about a thousand people - I suggest you do what I'm doing, and have a little patience. You'll get one eventually. Um . . .don't you feel the LEAST bit tricked? Usually we have 24 hours to catch first day eggs. Doesn't it seem stingy that we will only have from 1pm to midnight for first day eggs. My only chance of EVER owning a CB gold is to get eggs on the first day and trade them. And, btw . . . evidently someone DID read my post about the egg I was supposed to have and took a picture of . . . because the egg was restored to my scroll, so thanks for that small thing. I at least now have one of the noisy ones. Well, 40 minutes left and I have to be done for the day. Once again, Epic fail TJ, absolute epic fail. You cut down our time, don't tell us anything bout how long the eggs are going to drop, you leave let us show up at midnight and say . . . come back tomorrow afternoon. Then the eggs drop for like 30 seconds at a time. So yeah, Im upset and I don't think I'm the only one. Patience is over rated, it looks like the only patient ones are the ones that have their eggs. Posted April 6, 2014 I haven't been able to catch any as of yet... It keeps saying that there are no eggs to be found... No matter which biome I click. I guess I'll just have to keep trying. The drops get cleared out very quickly now so you have to be there right when the time hits xx:x5. They're only dropping in the Coast (striped) and Jungle (black/brown). Good luck! Posted April 6, 2014 (edited) I'm not sure what exactly is meant by "a true 24 hour drop", but if dragons are rare (or clearly uncommon), typically non-release eggs start mixing into the drops much sooner. If I recall correctly, that was the case with Coppers where regular dragons started mixing in already in the 3rd hour drop. I don't think there's been any release where eggs dropped exclusively for an entire 24 hours. I think they were always quite well mixed in among the regular breed by the time the 10th hour rolled around, slowly adjusting by their ratio as the next few days passed by. A full day of just that egg dropping, like we had for March. Prior to that, there was indeed much faster mixing. e: VVVV WHAT DID I JUST SAY ABOUT CONDESCENSION?! :argh: Edited April 6, 2014 by Guillotine Share this post Link to post
Posted April 6, 2014 Or even better, "Traditional Drakes" or something, since if something's a drake, by default it would be wingless. So saying "Wingless Drakes" is a little redundant. Lol IF ONLY THEY WERE ONE DAY CALLED DRAKS... D: Would make everything simpler, for sure. True! Traditional Drakes sounds a lot better. (: Share this post Link to post
Posted April 6, 2014 I first started collecting eggs back in 2008, before the biomes, and I had a very hard time catching anything in the cave itself. Mostly it was by accident if I caught anything, and I never caught new releases. Other people have told me it was easier to catch eggs in the cave then, but this was not my experience, I assure you. So, I'd try for a while in the cave, and then move on to the AP. This was when I only had a few spaces for eggs on my scroll, so if I got something from the AP, I likely wouldn't have room for the new releases when they came out. It took me ages to catch up to what other people had on their scrolls. And, again, people tell me all the time that I'm wrong, that it was easy to get new eggs and to get a Gold trophy in a few months or something. All this was annoying, I must say, but I just tuned it out and had fun doing it my way. I got eggs from the AP at my own speed, caught eggs in the cave when I could, and had fun. When someone gave me a gold egg, it was a huge thrill. My point is, this is just a game. There will always be other opportunities to get eggs. The world doesn't end if you don't get one the first day, let alone the first few hours. Yes, I do understand it's frustrating. I have still never caught a CB gold or silver or a whole bunch of others, but I survived. :-) My advice is to take a break when it gets too frustrating. Go off and read a book or take a walk, or get some sleep or something. DC will still be here when you get back, and maybe you'll get those eggs you wanted. Share this post Link to post
Posted April 6, 2014 First off, Lovely eggs I can't wait to see the babies Secondly: I LOVE this new time slot, as a mom staying up until midnight when i have a little one who gets up at 4 or 5 is hard. Third: I managed to lock myself with in the first drop. The lag was nothing compared to what i have seen in the past. Finally: YAY for New Drakes! good luck everyone Share this post Link to post
Posted April 6, 2014 I just got mine at my first attempt trying. Locked with three of each and a pygmy that has a funny code that I caught earlier in the week. Share this post Link to post
Posted April 6, 2014 I don't get it. The quadrupedal wingless dragons are called Drakes literally everywhere - they're not unique to DC. Why would they be referred to as DC-drakes? Yeah the reason is that Dragon Cave's definition of a Drake is the following one: Drakes are not actually dragons. Instead, drakes are similar-looking yet unrelated species of flying reptile that share common territory with dragons. Drakes often are smaller and more nimble than dragons are with underdeveloped forelimbs if forelimbs are present. These smaller forelimbs are made up for with larger wings that grant enhanced mobility in flight. As drakes are not related to dragons, they can not breed with dragons. However, drakes can interbreed with one another. According to the offical Dragon Cave Forums: Drake: Drakes (draks) are a species created by Dovealove. They have a certain set of characteristics and can only breed with other drakes. Drakes always: 1. Possess no opposable digits on any limb (no thumbs) 2. Have antlers which are shed bi-annually 3. Are extremely good natured, obedient and eager to please 4. Are no smarter than your average dog, have short attention spans and tend to never forget training, despite the fact that it takes a long time to cement it in their minds. 5. Are small, ranging in size between the size of a cat and as big as a husky. 6. Are found in the same basic body plan as the ocredrake varieties, which are the most basal forms. Drakes usually: 1. Have branched antlers. 2. Have only one wing finger and a sail of struts that make the membrane of the wing follow along the tail 3. Have black eyes. 4. Have three toes. Dovealove (creator of the first Drake - [[Ochredrake]]) only changed to Drak when people thought Drake couldn't be used. ( TJ's comment on the forums) And since this whole "Drak vs. Drake" (← link to suggestion topic on the forums) matter caused a lot of confusion, we referred to them as DC Drakes on the wiki. But with this release the confusion comes up again...but now it's about Drakes and DC Drakes. Therefore I now sorted them as Dragon Cave does. I know that everywhere else quadrupedal wingless dragons are called Drakes ... users had tried to get Ochredrakes, Day/Night Glory Drakes changed to Draks to give them their own definition just like Dove had requested after other users had notified her. But it never got changed... Share this post Link to post

And you've been here for how long? What, a few months? Why aren't you grateful you weren't here when biomes didn't exist? When we had one cave? No lowtimers, four egg slots... god, I could go on for a very, very long time. If you feel cheated, how about you get away from your computer, reason that they'll drop again, and stop complaining? You've already said at least three times how unfiar this is -- we get the message. We get it. But unless you sign up for a gifting thread or are proactive about it, you won't get anywhere. Being upset does not change the fact that you can just turn off your computer at any time. People have offered helpful suggestions. I want a CB Gold as much as you do, but I'm trying to be proactive about it and catch one on my own, or trade for one. Not pray that the new eggs will be good sniping fodder. I'm pretty sure TJ mentioned nothing about this release being any different than any other normal dragon release, except that it began at midday instead of midnight. By that logic, I don't see why you would have less time than any other normal release in which to catch your eggs. Seriously, though, calm down. This was not a fail, this was an experiment, and by the chatter in the thread people are making exactly the same comments they always make and merely attributing their current and monthly frustrations to a change in schedule. The world doesn't end if you don't get a new egg on the first day. There are some dragons whose releases I witnessed that I still do not own, and I am not barking at the unfairness of it all. Nyastara, might I suggest changing the category with Magmas, Mints, etc. in it to something like "Traditional Drakes?" c: I believe that would clear things up better than swapping DC-Drake and Drake sections around. So you could have "Traditional Drakes," Magmas/Mints/Etc, and "DC-Drakes," Ochredrakes/Day&Night Glories/etc. Share this post Link to post

These eggs will be here as long as DC is here. Also the CB Gold thing, you do not see me complaining about not owning a 2nd gen. Shimmerscale or CB for that matter Also the CB Gold I have was gifted. There are nice people out there. You just need patience Edited April 6, 2014 by lollipop00 Share this post Link to post

Wow, that sounds amazing for new release hunting! Although I think the March release did turn out to be fairly common? I'm sorry, I traded for most of mine the week after release so I'm not 100% sure on that either Share this post Link to post
Posted April 6, 2014 Man, I wish I wasn't egg-locked. I wanted to raid the AP. Share this post Link to post
Posted April 6, 2014 Yes, but even Nihostrifes (which are still incredibly common) began mixing by noon. Last time was a sweet 24 hours of pure new release. Share this post Link to post

What omg this is so incorrect We usually only get like 7 hours or so of solid drops if the egg is common, MUCH less if it's a rare. Last month was the only time we've gotten a solid 24 hour drop besides holidays right? What are you talking about? I don't think that he cut our time down at all? And where/when did he ever say it was only going to run until midnight with the solid nonstop drops? (I might have missed that bit of information but its doubtful) And the eggs have always dropped for thirty seconds at a time? There's only a set number that drop every five minutes, and that's NOW. (You should have seen the old releases when it was pretty much hourly phew boy) Is this your first release?? And then you said patience is over rated and then said that the patient one were the only ones that were doing well? I don't understand what point you are trying to prove. So basically, you picked all the wrong points to complain about and just need to stop whining. You sound like some pampered rich kid who just got a bit of mud on her white shoes.
