OOC @Dragonhatchling: Nope, a lightning bolt.

@Zeditha: Yep. Changing colors takes no energy, and so little time it is only unrealistic when you're doing split-second posts (like having a conversation. wouldn't wanna change colors like crazy in between each word)

@Everyone: Two new players soon! Looking forward to updating everyone and starting them off. Today at work though I'm like a kid in a candy store with $5k. I get to replace & upgrade every computer in the entire computer cafe (I run it.)

OOC: Going to dentist (haven't seen one in about 12 years) will update stories when I get back, unless I'm doped up on sedatives from oral surgery. Unlikely, since it'll probably just be "x ray time".

Also, I finally updated the first post with EVERYONE'S UNLOCKS and stuff. Also a pointer of when the last update was, so either me or Dragonhatchling can keep it up to date.

OOC @ Zeditha: I've actually tried getting some of you to meet already, but the post replies didn't sync up to what they needed to be in order to have interacted.

@Silverphoenixx: Remember to leave the actual stuff (descriptions are perfect) up to me if you can, might find stuff more interesting than you planned, or something might happen and I don't want you to have to edit. Also it wasn't coral or urchin, you wouldn't see those anywhere near here. Clam shell works. I wanted you to see one anyway.

"Dude, we should go to the beach. It's like... 90."

"Huhhhh, ya. Catch some waves, man!"

"Come on guys, you said you'd help me rescue animals from those evil labs that test animals on makeup." The ditzy girl was applying makeup while complaining about it.

"Sure, babe. No prob."

The stereotypical surfer dudes and their uh... girlfriend headed out towards the only lab they knew of. The ones the slimes were invented in. Once they arrived, they tried to sneak around the edge of the building, but didn't realize that there wasn't security let alone anyone present, and also the door in back was open and banging against the wall with the breeze.

The two guys lazily looked around only the first room they entered, but the girl stormed about inside, self-indulging her heroism. But there were no animals. Not anything that would be recognized as alive or animalistic, that is. Monsters, dragons, slimes, sure, but all only in their primary stage of clear, vialed slime.

The girl stood in the middle of the vial room. Vials in angled presentation cases, ten from floor to ceiling, fifty from left to right, lining the wall. Three walls exactly like it, with a vast majority of them still there. After a dejected hour, one of the surfers came in the room and found her.

"Yo, what's up?"

"There aren't any animals to rescue." she said sadly.

"Just grab some of this junk and we'll release that, then, hotness."

"Yeah... okay."

They left six 20 oz bottles of beer in some of the display sockets where vials used to be, making room in their cooler. Taking five slimes, still inactive, with them. The sixth beer bottle was put into a slot already vacant.

They arrived at the beach after an hour or so, and set up their picnic on their blankets on top of the hot sand. But before they could enjoy their day, a beach bully came by and kicked over their cooler, stole a beer, kicked sand in everyone's salad, and threw the rest of the contents all over the place.

One of the vials smashed on a pitted rock sticking partway out of the sand, up a slight incline, at the edge of the grass and sand. Another broke on a driftwood log, pouring the slime out into a hole in the log itself. A third broke against the inlaid stone firepit surprisingly not being used by anyone. But it was pretty early in the morning.

---------------------------------------------Avialae---------------------------------------------------

It didn't matter, but someone who pays their rent by recycling cans and bottles found in company and apartment complex dumpsters went inside the lab out of curiosity. He was intending to find some cans in the employee break room, but found the bottles he was looking for in an entirely different room. The bottles of beer were full, though not cold anymore. So they got opened, and since the man didn't drink, he just poured it out all over the floor. It had a drain. What he didn't know is that it was decorative due to being backed up. Or so the employees of the place had assumed for awhile.

But the bag of bottles was put too close to one of the walls, and the display slot was damaged to begin with from some previous scenario, and when the bottles shifted, one of them bumped the broken fork keeping the slot in place- and the canister came out and fell into the bag. The noise from the bottles and cans being what they were, the vial's own sound was unnoticed. Tossing the now empty beer bottles into the bag, the man went on his way. Money to make, though not as pitiful as others would think. That's why he had the score he did. No competition.

But the recycling machine was out of order, so nothing was crushed. The man was paid the amount anyway by weight of the bag anyway. After he left, it was thrown into the back of a dump truck, not to be recycled, but to be dumped elsewhere.

Why not off the edge of the road into the swamp itself up the road? That made sense.

The truck didn't even compress the trash- it simply unloaded it into the dirty muck water and old piles of trash on top of each other. Inside the dump truck was a semi-large rock that shifted as the truck tilted upwards, loosening the stone from its rest, which rolled down and broke the vial open as it crashed onto a load of grocery store trash, mostly orange and banana peels.

@Avisk: The slime had gotten to around where it had first gotten hit with the spray, and it expected it would happen again, but it didn't. The incline was covered in a soft green with periodic bumpy parts of green, like it was either a different plant or a different part. Something. Tiny things moved around on top of and between the pointy green thin things blanketing the ground, but nothing big. There were holes in a few places, barely visible unless the slime was almost on top of it, but still the spray didn't happen again.

@Jak: It was a strange texture. Instead of most things the slime tried to consume, it didn't resist being punctured, but instead of coming off of its eating parts, it stuck to them. Pulling its parts apart and trying again, it did the same thing. What was this? Was it because of its new way of eating? Would it have to expect this every time? Was it just this food? Was there something wrong with it? Right with it? The slime didn't know what to do. But it was able to stretch the stuff enough that it lost some of its ability to go back to a smaller shape (or something?). This stuff didn't make sense.

@Zeditha: (unlocked: calico pattern, calico yellow- just gave you the one you used, calico gold- males are gold/white, rabbit ears) The fluffy part of the thing wasn't as deep as the slime thought; it was pokey and hard just under the softness. It was cold. The whole thing cold. But informative too! The slime was already beginning to get a small idea of what this thing should look like, and could feel itself start to recognize something... a new sensation. But it couldn't make use of it yet.

@Pyrellium: (unlocked: green kelp) The long slimy thing was far longer than the slime could have known, and was still stuck in it; the slimy thing swaying in the movement of the salty wet forced the slime to go along as well, only barely touching the ridged thing as it moved around. Absorbing more of the stuff was strange, as the slimy thing refused to sink farther than it already was.

@Levi: The slime activated, tasting the air around it. Salt. Wet. Not enough wet to be wet, just enough to let the slime know there had to be more close by. But then another feeling- the slime had come out of something smooth and cylindrical, and slowly slid into something. An organic something, that tasted almost like solid salt. But it could tell it wasn't- it was a totally organic thing, just with the taste of salt all over it. There was another thingy inside the organic... hole? with the slime. Also organic, also hard and round, but felt... the slime didn't know the texture.

@Aster: The first thing the slime sensed was being smashed by a huge, smooth, round, inorganic thing that weighed a lot. Little pieces of inorganic stuck in the slime, hurting it. The ground it was on, once it felt it, was wet and organic, but falling apart on its own with or without help. The air itself tasted hideous, and contained more information than the slime could process, and was happening all at once. A small drop of yucky wet (with a little organic) touched the slime on its top where the heavy thing had hit it before disappearing.

((I, for one, would be very interested to see what would happen if characters from other spots this game is in would show up somehow...

Avisk probably wouldn't mind meeting someone regardless xd.png ))

No spraying thing. Was that good? The slime was a little saddened by that. It wanted to know what the spraying thing was for, but also didn't want to be hurt. So it continued to somewhat search for the spraying thing. The danger of holes was noticed quickly amid the weird patches of green. The up-wets started again harder this time for some reason. Suddenly too. Bigger up-wets pelted down from the up. Pelting everything. Sometimes even smaller up-wets would splash back upward and arch back down shortly after in clear liquids created from the up-wets on the green patches. All the while the slime occasionally got to absorb a few of the tiny creatures running amok if they climbed onto it. Some were even stupid enough to get through the thorns and scales to the actual slime.

After watching that occurrence a few times, the slime moved on. Getting pelted and searching for anything while also looking for the spraying thing. It was curious to figure out where it was. Doing so almost made the slime fall into a hole. It stopped just short of doing so. Avisk peered down into it. Where would that go?

((Did anyone else notice that another new player picked an ANGLERFISH for its starting DNA? God, the thought of a dragon made from THAT is going to give me nightmares!)

Aster: The newly awakened slime did not like these new sensations at all. The tiny sharp inorganic pieces, the hideous taste, the overload of information . . . it was all very stressful for the poor slime, but in its primitive state, there wasn't much it could do about any of these things. It flattened its surface, instinctively trying to dislodge the small, sharp, pointy, hurty inorganic bits, but it didn't work very well. But all the pain and discomfort it was experiencing couldn't distract the slime from its hunger, and it quickly got to work devouring the organic things closest to it -- the traces of organic in the yucky wet drop that had fallen on it (even if it tasted bad, organic was organic, after all) and the very ground it was resting on, not realizing that once it was consumed, the slime would have nothing holding it up. Eventually it had consumed all of the ground beneath it, and the slime did indeed feel itself start to fall, and quickly jerked itself forwards, blindly trying to find another surface to stop its descent.

The slime was disturbed by the constant movement of the long slimy thing. It had never experienced something like this and wasn't able to do anything. The slime wanted to digest more of the long slimy thing, but the movement prevented it from doing so. For a while, it simply swayed in the liquid until it had digested some of the long slimy thing inside it. It then used the mass to elongate itself a little. This made it quite hungry, and since it was able to float now, it digested the rest of the long slimy thing with ease. After that, it continued to elongate itself, unconsciously making itself bright ((making itself white)) and dark in patterns. Now ravenous, it tried to move in the direction where the long slimy thing came from and found that by moving its body from side to side, it could go forwards. Slowly, it moved in the direction until it hit another long slimy thing. Delighted that it had found something else to eat, it quickly digested it to stop itself from being too hungry.

Dragonia looked up in the hole stuck in it. He hopelessly tried to climb out. But now that the top was inaccessible he gave up. He looked to his side and was terrified seeing a corpse. If he could understand it that is. He decided to eat it gaining it's DNA. He thought of a name for himself. He decided on Dragonia.

Zeditha concentrated, trying to pin down the new sense. She began forming the new organs that helped with it. She didn't feel very hungry, but she kept absorbing the organic anyway. She found that her hard thing could open and close, and it was useful for pulling things apart. She used it well, pulling smallish parts of the organic away from the rest of it, and then absorbing them.

The slime shifted uncomfortably. Everything hurt so much. Well, not everything, but the things it remembered the most had hurt it. It didn't know what was going on with its new wet-getting thing, but that concern was secondary to the pain. Trying to take its mind off of the pain, the slime turned to bite something else. Unfortunately, this hurt too! Well, it didn't quite hurt. The stuff wasn't quite furry, more fluffy. The fluff was itchy, sort of, and little bits of it seemed to stab the slime's wet-getting thing. It was an odd feeling. It wasn't a nice thing to swallow, but it was interesting, and the pain wasn't as bad as the other pain. It was distracting, which was really what the slime wanted. Distractions from pain were nice.

@Soulking: Slimes won't recognize themselves as having a name yet. Even Dragonhatchling's slime in the other forum, that's been active for six years, isn't that mentally complex yet.

@Avisk: (unlocked: maroon) With one of its orbs, the slime saw a short distance into the hole. With the other orb, it saw inorganic specks- enough to make some of the green lay down and be somewhat covered by it. The inorganic specks, like the one that hurt the slime, seemed thicker and a shorter width just up the incline a little more. But inside the hole, something moved. It was very small, and low to the ground, and shined for only enough time to make the slime unsure whether it was really there. But whatever it was disappeared down the hole...

@Aster: (unlocked: paper, black ink gland) The organic was.. tasteless, but it was nicely stuck in the slime now, easily dissolving and being digested. Falling a short distance and beginning to.. slurp? its way unintentionally down a slick, wet surface, it landed in a strangely shaped pit of sorts. Parts were inorganic, but some was organic, and had incredibly soft material that didn't feel much different than the slime itself, but tasted slightly sweet, oozing out of it.

@Pyrellium: The wet kept moving, putting pressure on the slime and making its movements difficult. Into the inorganic again! But this time a piece of one of the inorganic organics got stuck in the slime's elongated side. It was smooth on one side, slightly ridged on the other, but two other sides were sharp and had straight edges.

@Zeditha: (unlocked: retract- not just cat claws. Other spiky parts you have/get too) Continuing to eat the dead things the slime found in the flimsy inorganic thing was continuing to yield information! There was so much of it, too. But that new sense kicking in was... The slime now noticed that there were little sounds on the flimsy inorganic's skin, lots of little... taps? It didn't seem to stop. But similar sounds were all around it! Nothing below, but lots above and around.

@Delta: (unlocked: penicillin gland, luminescence gland) The slime began to feel something strange growing inside of it again. But... two of them. Two different ones, that did different things. One of them felt like it could be used to actually assist other living things, if the slime felt like it. The other one didn't seem to be related to anything. Nothing the slime could comprehend at this time, at least. But little... things started to become noticeable around the slime. Little tiny rubbery wiggling things.

@Zeth: Spinning. The slime's first sense was spinning, sloshing against the long ends of the smooth inorganic... tube? it was in, until it quickly stopped and slammed into one of the ends, pieces of stabby inorganic shoving into and penetrating the slime all over! Luckily it was just slime, and didn't have fluids that could be lost at this point. Then the slime felt itself, and the thing it was in, fall. Not far though. Another pain- but this one wasn't... no, it was inorganic. But something inside it wasn't... and it made the slime feel.... EXCELLENT!

((I sent you a request for information and a Sebright chicken pattern awhile ago. I already received the information.))

Now that the two (two! Two new things didn't usually grow at once) new things had grown, the slime felt hungry. It wanted to grow some more useful things soon. Most things, like the two new things that it had grown now, were useless. One of didn't even seem to have a function, and the other? It did seem to have a function, but the concept of it was foreign to the slime. Helping other creatures? Why would it want to do that? Creatures were either food or threats, not something that the slime wanted to 'help' or keep alive. It would be counterproductive and harm the slime itself, which was the last thing the slime wanted.

Fortunately for the slime, it found a bunch of small, fat, wriggling things squirming in... something. Something rancid, anyway. Whatever it was, it didn't matter. The wriggling things themselves were organic, and tasty. It seemed like it had been awhile since the slime had eaten anything that was organic and not rancid. It was refreshing. The slime greedily grabbed and swallowed the wriggly things, poking around with its feet to find more. There were so many of them! They were tiny, though, which made it annoying to have to pick each one up.

((Sevak does like eating things though. He hates falling. Or... as he calls it "the dreaded Nothing" (that poor poor slime...) ))

Avisk noticed the shine and then disappearance. That was new. Or maybe that happened sometimes before it had grown its orbs that let it see. Could the slime do that then? It checked. Nothing. Maybe it wasn't doing it right. But the hurty things were there, but the slime was interested in the Disappear. It wanted to figure out what that was. Even more so on how it did that. Avisk liked that. For some reason.

The odd slime moved further down the hole as the scales changed color to camouflage itself more. The spiny thorns between the scales bristled a little in anticipation. Where was it? It was getting harder to see anything in this place.

The slime wriggled around, twisting it's elongated body to try to get its opening to face the inorganic organic. Touching the inorganic organic, it found that it could be digested, although rather slowly. It did have a pleasant taste to it though. Like a better version of the salty liquid. Digesting the surface some more, the inorganic organic suddenly moved. The slime retreated a little, thinking that it was dangerous. But the inorganic organic did nothing, instead staying still. Gradually moving back towards it, the slime digested some more of it. After a while of digesting, a part of the inorganic organic disappeared. There was still some of the inorganic organic, but the rest of the inorganic organic was next to the slime. Widening the area it had digested, it finally made the area where the inorganic organic disappeared bigger. All that digesting had made it very full, so it used some of the mass to grow. The slime grew wider a little and became hungry again. Going back to the area where the inorganic organic had disappeared, it found that there was a soft organic thing underneath. It digested the area of the soft organic where it could reach before becoming full again.

((OOC: Viirin, I PMed you my requests earlier today. If for whatever reason it's not in your inbox, contact me and I'll send them again.))

Fear flooded Aster as it slid down the slope. The slime really wasn't falling all that fast or that far, but it had no way to stop its descent or any idea where it would end up and what would for it when it got there, and all the uncertainty was very scary for the little creature, so much so that when it finally landed into the pit the slime had to remain where it was for a minute to regain its composure. That was when Aster realized a small orb-shaped . . . thing, that the slime didn't have a name for was growing inside it. It must have not realized that it was happening earlier due to the shock of the fall, since the feeling of something growing inside of it, the harder tissue displacing its gel-like structure, was very discomfiting to Aster. It shifted its structure around for a little while, trying to become comfortable with the presence of the new organ, but then it stopped growing and the slime, having a short attention span, quickly became used to its presence and forgot about it.

Now that Aster wasn't in discomfort anymore, it felt hungry, so it started to explore the area in which it found itself for organics. Heading forward slowly to make sure it didn't miss anything, the slime discovered that once again, part of the surface that it rested on was made of organic! Despite its hunger, Aster was hesitant about absorbing this new organic - after all, the last time it had tried absorbing what was under it things hadn't worked out too well for it - but as it extended a small part of itself over the soft organic in order to test it out the new sensation it felt overrid its caution. The sweet taste the organic had might not be that strong, but it was the first thing Aster had ever tasted, and the slime found it incredibly tantalizing. Forgetting about its earlier fear, Aster quickly began to absorb the new organic substance, greedily trying to devour every last bit it could find - the sweet taste was just so good! Since it wasn't paying much attention to where it was going now, it wasn't long before the slime had crossed the bottom of the pit and ascended up its wall.

While all this was happening, two new orbs were beginning to form towards Aster's front, similar but yet different to the one it had already grown, which was closer to its other side. Absorbed in its frenzy of devouring, the slime hadn't noticed them forming yet, but it was bound to once it ran out of the organic substance to absorb.

Zeditha decided to gather the nearby organics together, and put them on top of her. She named this arrangement a 'pleap'. (pile and heap xd.png I thought we should invent some new words, as we can't go around inventing exactly the same language.) She found the sharp things on her... She decided she's call them 'feet'... she found the sharp things moving back, into the feet. She decided it was probably normal, and meant she wouldn't accidentally sharp herself. She moved the sharp things back out of her feet, though, so that she could move the organics into a pleap.

((I giggle every time I type 'pleap'. biggrin.gif) She's putting all the organics in a pleap, so she can hide from the tapping.))

@Delta: The wriggly things squirmed when you picked them up too. And gradually they began moving away from the original area they were clustered in. The pain started subsiding too. At least as far as the slime could tell. Picking up the wriggly things got a bit easier too. A couple of things bumped into the slime from time to time as it searched for more wriggly things. Some of the bumpeds were still though near some of the wriggly ones.

@Pyrellium: There were a few more of the inorganic organics that occasionally bumped into the slime or slid past, barely missing. The wet continued to move, forming somewhat of a pattern it seemed. The wet pushed the slime into the inorganic surface on underneath the slime too, adding even more pressure at times before that let up slightly. The cycle of more pressure and less pressure continued, further making the slime's movements difficult as a few more inorganic organics slipped past where the slime was.

@Aster: There was more of the sweet organic soft stuff up past the wall's ridge that the slime could feel. Knowing this, it was still distracted enough to not be freaked out by the new orbs having formed. But there also was a little more of the inorganic protruding all around the ridge of the pit. Here and there. Even one right in front of the slime. That made getting out of the ridge a little harder, but still doable.

@Zeditha: Moving the organics into a pleap was very hard work. Harder than the slime intended. Putting them on top of itself was nearly impossible. But, somehow, the slime barely managed to make a very unorganized pleap in hopes of stopping the odd noises. The taps began to become muffled, but still audible as the slime hid.

Annoyed, Zeditha tapped her foot on the ground. Then she realised it made a slightly muffled tapping, almost identical to the taps outside her pleap. She decided to stay where she was for the moment though, and enjoy her pleap. She couldn't see anything, but she knew that the more intact organics were closest to her. She would tear off and absorb pieces of those first, and then she would absorb the entire pleap until there was nothing left. Once the pleap was gone, she wouldn't be hungry at all, and she could investigate the tapping.

((Who else giggles at 'pleap'? smile.gif You can timeskip to the pleap being gone, since she's already decided she's going to finish eating her pleap before anything else. I want to know what the other organics were xd.png did I unlock anything new?))

When Aster began to feel around the ridge of the pit it stopped short. It could taste a small amount of the soft sweet organic stuff in the small part of itself it had managed to get beyond it, but it barely noticed that as the pain it felt when it moved over the protruding inorganic drowned out all other sensations. It was the first pain Aster had ever felt and the slime didn't like it one bit. Moving back under the ridge and into the pit again, it was now safe from the pain but it still felt hunger it needed to sate and there wasn't any more of the sweet organic immediately around it to absorb. Aster remembered the faint taste of sweet organic past the ridge so as much as it didn't want to feel the pain again the hunger drove the slime to approach the ridge again. Gingerly, it reached a tendril out above it and felt the bottom of the inorganic ridge. Aster didn't seem to feel much pain when approaching the ridge from below so it was encouraged to continue. After feeling along the bottom edge of the ridge for a little while the slime felt the inorganic matter beneath it fall away, and instead there was nothing but the sweet organic left. Happily, Aster slowly moved out of the pit in the area without the inorganic ridge, and eagerly began to absorb the sweet organic just outside of the pit.

((Aster's not using her new eyes much yet because I'm assuming it would be fairly dark in the pit due to shadows and the like . . . plus she still hasn't really noticed them yet. Feel free to change that in the reply!))

@Delta: (unlocked: maggot- includes fly) The slime was interrupted by a large amount of wet pouring all over the top of it. It was fresh wet though, so that was a plus. Something else was in the mass of wiggly things. A second type of creature. The same size, but this one had some sort of thingy in the back (?) of itself that hurt when it poked the slime.

@Avisk: The faintest hint of a... glint? appeared and disappeared further down the hole. It was moving. In fact, if the slime wasn't wrong, the glint looked like a reflection of light from the bright light from above that went away all of a sudden- but it reflected off what the slime thought might be a sight orb.

@Pyrellium: (unlocked: hermit crab chirp) The inorganic organic had contained something alive. It wasn't anymore. It was actually... one of the same things it had found on the surface, before going under the wet. Starting to get somewhat used to the movements of the wet, the slime was able to recognize something. The wet wasn't moving in one direction, and tiny... somethings... were starting to become noticeable.

@Aster: (unlocked: banana- tree and fruit) Disgusting! The slime consumed the sweet, but under the patch it was at, it found something else. It had a hard outside and that was fine, but inside it was the most potent form of yuck the slime could have known. Or so it initially decided. It tasted like it should have been somewhat salty, but was overwritten by decay. Was organic though.

@Zeditha: (unlocked: housecat, rabbit, dog noises, parrot mimic, euthasol gland- this is the medicine used to put pets to sleep and holy crap did I cry a lot just having to research the name of the stuff, formaldehyde gland) The slime noticed as it was halfway done consuming its pleap that it was noticeably bigger than it had been before gorging itself. It would need to find a nigh-unrealistic amount of small creatures in order to copy them now.

OOC: Viirin, does your update take Dragonhatchling's into account or not? Sorry, but the language we're using to describe things through our slimes' senses makes it kind of unclear.
