Posted May 13, 2014 ((Completely different game. Actually the game that Viirin linked you to on Escapist. Sevak's my other slime. There was a long-old version of him too... back when this first first started to my knowledge (at least, it was the original original Azure Wyrm here) but that one went haywire.... so, to the spirit of it all, I brought Sevak back from the dead in Escapist (just the original slime dna and name) and have played him since. I'll admit... he'd be an interesting sort to meet here. And yes Zedith, the whole thing happpened before. Three times to my count. Probably more. No, four. Twice he rolled down a hill inside a bottle or bottle like object... at least twice did he have other Dreaded Nothing experiences from high-up objects. He fell. Far. And since then, since he fell basically right off the bat out of the container... he's associated falling with the Dreaded Nothing. No eyes or anything else to help you sense will do that to you. Every since, he's been scarred for life pretty badly from those experiences. Absolutely hates it. So it'll be interesting to see if Sevak gets himself out of the jam... he's gained new confidence... but he also hasn't exactly figured out just how high up he is. That's the joke. It's quite funny to read the reactions when they happen. He's a bit crazed... he's also afraid of fuzzy-softs. Ferns. But that's a different story. Not exactly as wonderful as the whole falling fiasco Sevak has some problems... I play off those a lot. It's what he gets for not changing his original slimey appearance very much ever. Poor thing was stuck a slime-sized blob of scales with legs and two sets of eyes for a long long time but it suited him. Curious litter bugger.)) Share this post Link to post
Posted May 13, 2014 ...Wow... Well, Zeditha seems to be lagging behind a bit, too. At least one slime has legs, and even basic hands, while I have one eye and a few random colour patterns. I plan on using the fire-ant venom thing next, so I'm hoping to encounter something a little nasty to fight. Hey... what would happen if something ate your slime? Would the slime get eaten, or would it use the extra digestion stuff and eat the creature that swallowed it? Assuming it didn't really have significantly overmuch stuff on it, i.e. if it has skin it'll probably end up eaten. Share this post Link to post
Posted May 13, 2014 (edited) ((Hmm.. Yeah. Would the slime like, gruesomely digest a hole right through the other creature? Also, I've joined the group on the escapist forums.)) Jak looked at the strange shape longingly. If the little guys were interested in it, it must have some purpose. As he tried to comprehend it, a part of him numbed up. As he tried harder and harder to imagine what the thing was used for, the part got number, until the feeling stopped. He looked around suddenly. Everything was clearer now. Not like the way it had become clearer, but more towards the way he perceived things. Stray thoughts ran through him. They were no longer impulses, like: Eat this, go there, stay here. Full thoughts resonated through him, almost overwhelming him with the sheer amount of information. He looked at the object. He needed food at times, so perhaps the Shiny-greens needed it too? Or perhaps they just liked the object? Either way, he wanted to see what was so good about it. He moved slowly towards the object, and slowly pushed himself against it, engulfing it slowly. It felt soft, with tiny strands on it. He digested it as slow as he could. It was organic, that was for sure. ((I made him grow a brain. Did I go too fast?)) Posted May 13, 2014 (edited) OOC: I'll try to update probably tomorrow- got a few appointments but I got time after that. One slime, in the other forum, was eaten! Part of it was, at least. The slime played by "Inkblot Royalist" started with hummingbird DNA, and unlocked opossum and mosquito- grew proboscis along its spine and prehensile tail, to vampire blood out of stuff it was strangling. But then a real opossum caught it off guard, ate its head, and ran off. This was before I had a pet opossum in real life (yes I uploaded videos of us to youtube) and didn't know they wouldn't act that way. My bad. The slime became blind and deaf again. Player stopped due to acting classes, but didn't return. What happened? There is one post about it.. the head, still being partially slime- became an NPC, and ate the opossum from the inside out, and also ate a smoke bomb in a pile of garbage and got smoke breath. The slime was looking for its lost head, for whatever reason. When it found what it had become, it encountered it as an enemy opossum breathing colored smoke. Posted May 13, 2014 Woah... So, ok, you do gruesomely eat a hole through the creature So I guess when a slime splits, it becomes two entities? Can they join up? And if one gains new abilities, will those be shared? Share this post Link to post
Posted May 14, 2014 ((Can our slimes eat parts of each other? Like, to share DNA? )) Share this post Link to post
Posted May 14, 2014 I'd expect that, for example, if a slime had grown a lion's mane and a fire ant venom gland, then if another slime came along and absorbed some of the mane it would get lion DNA but not fire ant DNA, and not anything else the slime has. But if the slime tried to digest some of the slime's actual slime, then it would unlock everything the other slime had. Is this about right? Share this post Link to post
Posted May 14, 2014 (edited) OOC @Zeditha: No- abilities aren't shared. Like Inkblot Royalist's slime didn't unlock the smoke bomb breath, but its severed head did. @Zeditha: The grey you got from the falcon? Or is it another color your slime doesn't know the right color name for? Also guessing the color pattern is from the falcon? @Melomancer: Yes, slimes can eat parts of each other. On the other forum, there was a fight between Wrecker and Ish (two slime names). They didn't eat parts of each other, though- as most of you have seen- chemicals and poisons spread throughout every one of your cells before receeding and making a gland. One of the slimes got poisoned by Poison Ivy or Stinging Nettle or something, and it began to spread. But they were biting each other, so touching. The poison spread through both slimes, and they both got the same unlock from it. Also acted like divine intervention! Hey, I stayed in character. @Zeditha: Not necessarily- the cells aren't *actually* lion, even in the mane. They're still slime cells, just specialized to resemble lion traits. That's why you can enhance stuff with stuff, like Nathair is a slime played by Booksv2 in the other forum, and he added his Acid Rain Gland to his Bubble Breath to be able to have Acid Bubble Dragonbreath. This basically means that you get a random unlock from eating parts of each other- just like unlocks are random- eat a goat leg, and maybe unlock a horn or its eyes. Not necessarily its leg. @Melomancer: Too fast? Eh, I would have said "yes", but since the "full thoughts" are still basic animal thoughts, I'll say no. Now if you start thinking in sentient ways, then yeah, don't do that. You need another species to do that... won't happen until Arc 2 at the earliest. @Dragonhatchling: I don't remember what you were going to grow in addition to the Gasoline Gland. I'll give you it as an unlock once I have time to read it properly- but it might have been an Antifreeze Gland. ---------------------------------------In Character----------------------------------------------------------- @Zeditha: The slime found things that tasted awful. But in addition to that, it also found things that were round on top, but straight and smooth under the round part. Soft, organic. Also the ground was wet. But in the middle of the funny things was something inorganic, hard, and sharp. But brittle. Little pieces all the same... but they had a flavor. @Delta: (unlocked: pine tree) On top of the blockage, the slime was able to relax, since all trace of the burning was finally gone, and something began to form within it. Something small, with little roundish pokey things coming out of a central nub. In addition to the thin organic masses that the slime found, something else was there. A different shape- kind of round. With little soft parts added to it sporadically. @Avisk: (unlocked: pincer bug) After wandering a short way, only finding dirty inorganic things, the slime found something else. Wet. Lots of wet. Not clean wet, but there was an organic.. surface. The wet wasn't organic, but the top of it was. Other than the slime touching it, it hadn't seemed to have any movement in awhile- the slime could tell since it was in it partially. @Jak: (unlocked: fig tree) The shiny creatures only began to move once engulfed and they began to be absorbed. They must have really been interested in... oh. This was pretty tasty, actually. And soft! Though it was pretty thick, absorbing it was simple, and wouldn't take too horribly long to consume the entirety of it. But then the shiny creatures began to move, and quickly! Part of them opened up and something pushed the slime out of the way, though it wasn't as though it was holding on too hard. Then it began... vibrating? really quickly and they began to start pulling themselves out of the slime, stretching it in every direction. Edited May 14, 2014 by Viirin Share this post Link to post
Posted May 14, 2014 ((Grey is from the falcon, yes. The pattern is partly from the falcon, but mostly just randomised. I guess you could say it's from the ant; they have some very tiny patterns on them, if I remember reading a random webpage right...)) Zeditha tried absorbing the soft organic things, and out of curiosily, picked up one of the awful-tasing things as well. She moved through the small, sharp, brittle things, and carefully felt over each one. Then, when she couldn't see any more organic things, she moved away, still holding one awful thing and one brittle thing. Share this post Link to post
Posted May 14, 2014 The slime rested for a few seconds, glad that the burning had finally stopped. The round thing it had found was interesting and organic, but the noise it had heard seemed to be coming from inside of the round thing. The noise seemed to have almost stopped, save for a few peeps. Strange. The slime crawled into the round thing, a few pieces of it being picked up and absorbed into the slime's feet. To the slime's delight, inside of the round thing were a few large, strange things. Had they been what had been making the noise? The things seemed to be trying to get away, frantic, but the slime managed to catch one. It squirmed and poked the slime with something hard and sharp, but the slime didn't pay much attention. The thing tasted delicious, and the slime wasn't about to let it get away. As it struggled, the slime pulled it further into its body. The racket that the creatures were making was very annoying, almost painful, but the slime was still happy. The creature that it had caught would take a long while to be digested, even once it stopped struggling, but that didn't matter. The creatures didn't seem to be escaping, so the slime could just stay in the round thing and- Suddenly, another screech was added to the noise. It was similar to the other noises, but at the same time it was different. The slime felt something sharp rip into its back, tearing it up and causing pain. The change was abrupt and terrible. Desperate to get away from the strange attacker, the slime crawled out of the round thing and flung itself away. The creature that it had caught was stuck in the slime, still struggling, but that wasn't what the slime cared about. It just wanted the attack to end. Then there wasn't anything beneath it, organic or otherwise. There was just a sick falling sensation, like what had happened long ago. The noise of the creatures faded away as the slime dropped, but then there was a soft sound. Half a moment after the sound registered, the pain did. It was worse that the tearing. Much, much worse. Some of the hard things in the slime shattered, mostly the ones in its limbs. It was broken, unable to move without feeling more pain. The struggling of the creature made everything hurt, although it was slowing now. Unable to do anything, the slime just sat there. It tried to focus on absorbing the creature, but it was far more difficult than it should have been. ((The slime climbed into the nest and started eating a chick, but then one of the parent birds attacked it and it fell. ((Can you explain what each of the arcs are?)) Share this post Link to post
Posted May 15, 2014 Jak started panicking. He didn't want to wait for the creatures to stretch him further, so with effort, he squeezed hard and launched a few of them out of his body. Most still remained, and kept stretching him. Panicking, he moved around, letting go of the delicious round thing in the process. It was amazing to absorb, and felt better than anything he had eaten before. He wouldn't give up on it, even for the shiny-greens. The ones still inside him wriggled around more, and started to hurt. One made its way out by itself, popping out. Jak focused hard on keeping the creatures in. If he let them out, it would cause more pain. The creatures were being digested extremely slowly, as most of his effort was spent resisting their attempts to escape. Slowly, he kept his exterior still, pushing them back when they tried to burst out. He was feeling numb all over, both inside and out. He felt the shiny-greens struggle more, as they grew more frantic. He doubled his efforts to keep them in, not letting them break through. Finally, the numbness stopped on the outside. The shiny-greens tugged and struggled, most of them had that opening part open now. But they couldn't escape. It was as if something hard was blocking them from the inside. Jak sat still, exhausted, and waited for them to be digested. ((He grew an exoskeleton while they were inside, trapping them while they tried to break out. I'm not really sure how exoskeletons work, but I'm guessing it's pretty hard from the inside too.)) Share this post Link to post

Posted May 16, 2014 ((Is Avisk is some sort of organic film on top of the non-organic wet stuff? .....)) Avisk ventured a little further into the weird wet stuff it was in. The slime didn't understand how organic could be on top of non-organic wet stuff right yet, but it milled around in it in an attempt to absorb both the non-organic wet and organic wet together. Also trying to find out why this worked the way it did. It probably looked funny to anything passing by- a nearly clear slime ball milling around aimlessly and splashing slightly in some sort of puddle-type thing almost. Strange. That thought occured to the slime. Strange. But it didn't exactly know what strange meant. Maybe it meant the way this mix of wet was acting. Regardless, the slime rolled playfully a little to try and absorb both liquids better. It was having fun. Share this post Link to post
Posted May 17, 2014 (edited) OOC @Melomancer: Exoskeletons are really just bones. Insects and crustaceans keep their bones on the outside, though none of them are that durable. Ever eaten lobster claws or smashed a spider? @Backup77: Yes! Arc 1: Introduction Just initiates each player's story, as well as how to play Arc 2: Tabloids and Rumors The first time a human sees an evolved slime, they'll escape and report it Arc 3: They live! "Weekly World News" and other magazines no one respects broadcast stories, but then the real news begins to find and broadcast you on the news! Arc 4: Operation: "Nope Just Kidding" First your creators, then government, wants to wipe you out so they don't have to admit to how irresponsible they were in your release. Also to silence the reporting. Arc 5: Apocalypse I won't reveal the threats here, just no one is stopping at anything to wipe you out. That means I will personally design things just to kill your character permanently at this point. Arc 6: How "Reign of Fire" Should Have Ended Each slime/dragon should have a chosen lair, and decided how to rule the land in their territory, and have the power to enforce all your rules, laws, and whims. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The janitor at the "Ecological Genetics" lab got to work at his usual time at 7pm. But seeing that it had a sign outside saying it was out of business didn't please him much. He took out his key and unlocked the door, went inside, picked up the closest experimental vial (it happened to be sitting on a nearby computer console next to the coffee pot) and left with it- making sure the door was locked as he exited. His phone rang, and the text let him know his dealer was waiting at the beach for him at a snack bar that served syrupless pancakes and ice cream-less ice cream cones. The text didn't give those details, it was already known because everyone hated them. It took awhile to get there, but he eventually arrived and hung out behind the snack bar until the meeting took place. He had brought the vial with him, and stood it up on its side beside him, in the sun. "Dude, what's that jar? You aren't gonna try to pay me with it, are you?" "You know what this is?" "Yeah. It's a-" the dealer punted the sample container holding a slime, and it spun through the air, hit the side of a trash can, broke in half, and the half holding the slime fell inside. @Pyrellium: Warm. The slime activated from its proto stage and came to life, and felt warm. And enclosed. Whatever had it trapped was inorganic and smooth, and there was no way out. Then it felt a strong push from... the other side of the inorganic? Then it was violently shoved from one end of the enclosure to the other back and forth a bunch of times, then it suddenly stopped, and it tasted something salty when the slime became free somehow. It fell a short distance, and tasted something organic, and felt other organic things with strange shapes all around it. @Jak: The creatures stopped struggling once the slime began absorbing them- or maybe just the vibrating parts were dissolved first and they couldn't do that. But they quickly stopped struggling but were still present while the slime continued absorbing them. Then something fell from up into a nearby fluffy green organic. @Delta: The creature the slime absorbed into itself had caught on the thin, hard organic things that the slime was now also stuck in, though the slime was stretched between the spot the creature was stuck in, and the much thicker part that it broke its internal hard parts on. There were noises nearby, but the slime was in too much pain to care or pay attention to it. @Avisk: (unlocked: mosquito) The strange organic wet was just a... skin? Film? Well, it wasn't anymore, now it was a meal for the slime. There was something sharp and inorganic, but long and thin, sticking out of the ground, just barely able to be felt through the bottom of the inorganic wet. It... it made the... the slime felt like something was changing in itself. @Zeditha: The strange sharp inorganic pieces made the slime feel funny, but it didn't know what the feeling was. Everything began to change color... the awful tasting thing was soft and gentle, even if it tasted bad. Plus it was organic. The ground was surprisingly moist, and something relatively brightly colored moved around nearby. Edited May 17, 2014 by Viirin Share this post Link to post
Posted May 17, 2014 Zeditha decided to absorb the organic thing. If it was soft and nice, and it didn't wriggle or attack, how bad could it be? She decided that absorbing some water wouldn't be a bad idea either, so she tried that. It ended up that she had some water inside her that didn;t do much. It felt like a good idea to keep it, though, so she did. Then she decided to head towards the bright thing, it was interesting. Share this post Link to post
Posted May 18, 2014 It was hard to notice through the haze of agony, but the hard things in the slime were slowly knitting back together. It was painful, and didn't seem to be working quite right. The way that the slime had fallen, spread out across a few hard rods, made it so that most of the hard things didn't line up properly. Either the pieces had been pulled apart by the weight of the slime, or they had simply fallen out of place. A few of the hard things had only been fractured; these healed quickly. The slime that had be torn by the flying thing attack had already healed. Slowly, with great pain, the slime moved the hard things back into placed. The creature that the slime had caught twitched one last time, pushing the hard things apart again, but then it stopped. It took a long while for the hard things to heal after that, but it happened. Slowly, the pain faded away until the slime could focus again. Relief was the main thing that it felt. It wasn't happy, not after the trauma it had just gone through, but the pain was gone and that was good. Because the creature had stopped moving it was easier to absorb, which was also good because the healing had made the slime quite hungry. The weight of the creature made it so that it would be hard for the slime to move, however. Not that the slime wanted to. It seemed to be balanced on hard organic rods, and it feared that if it moved it would fall again. There were noises nearby, but the slime still had the creature to absorb. It didn't need to move yet. Share this post Link to post
Posted May 20, 2014 (edited) The slime rolled around in the small space, finding that it was quite small. While it was exploring, it tasted many things, one of them being a oily salty stick. It rolled back to where the stick was, and found more of the sticks. The sticks were soon gone though, and the slime rolled again trying to find something edible. It came upon a long slightly stringy object and digested it. ((The stringy thing is a banana peel. Not really sure how to describe it.)) Still not satisfied, the slime rolled around once more. This time, it rolled up on to a material that seemed to make it more elevated. It continued to roll, looking for food. The slant of the material became steeper and suddenly there was no more of the material. The slime felt a strong breeze going in a upwards direction before it hit a gritty surface comprised of many orbs. The slime rolled across the hard gritty surface for a while before touching something hard and scuttly. The thing seemed edible, and slime was hungry, so it absorbed the thing. After finding that it made the strange empty hungriness go away a little, the slime searched for more of the scuttly things. It rolled a bit before finding itself in the salty liquid again. The salty liquid felt a bit too salty for the slime, so it moved onto the dry gritty surface again. The slime felt a dip in the gritty surface below it, and followed it. To the slime's delight, there was another scuttly thing at the end of the dip. Digesting the other scuttly thing, it rolled some more along the dip, but was met with a block in its path. There seemed to be no more food so the slime simply moved back the way it came. The slime then found another edible object. It was a bit knobby and had five points. It didn't move around like the scuttly things, so the slime absorbed it easier. Suddenly a sharp pointy thing knocked the slime over. The sharp pointy thing poked it a few times, before a bigger sharp pointy thing poked the slime. It tried to digest the pointy thing, but it kept moving away too fast. Then, the slime was grasped by some long rough limbs and felt a strange weightlessness. The slime tried rolling around, but the limbs gripped it too tightly. The limbs seemed edible though, so the slime got to work digesting it. The slime couldn't hear, but after starting to digest the limbs, whatever was lifting the slime gave a screech and fell downwards. The slime fell with the thing and landed on it. A bit disturbed, but not hurt, the slime started digesting the softer surface that it was now on. The thing then flung the slime back into the salty liquid. ((Is this better?I have some questions: #1 Can the slime digest things like paper? Because the paper was a tree once, but got modified, I don't know if it's considered organic. #2 Is the trash can next to the beach? Also, the creature was meant to be a bird, a seagull to be more specific. Can I keep that part?)) Edited May 24, 2014 by Silverphoenixx Share this post Link to post
Posted May 21, 2014 It's center of intelligence connected to it's stomach eyes and legs and everything else in the body. Suddenly it finished building and thoughts flooded his mind. His proto sharp thingys hardened. His slime also started to harden. And the proto bones finished their shaping and started to harden too. This naturally made him very hungry. So he devoured some of the green stuff. Share this post Link to post
Posted May 22, 2014 (edited) OOC: Wasn't ignoring thread, just haven't had time to sit down and read/write, and hoped Dragonhatchling wasn't as busy as I already know she is in RL. Will try to update today; if not it'll be tomorrow. But I got new ideas to try out on you guys! Also you can always PM me or write in the chat which I already provided the link for, so I know what your end results are, so I can try and make sure you find things that enhance your ideas. @Silverphoenixx: I like how you write, but a few things to note: You're actually in a trash can right now, in a pile of food wrappers and other junk (you can be creative if you want with what got thrown away) and I like how you described eating the crabs; but you're in a trash can. Don't interact with humans yet, that is much farther into the story than we're at right now, because it'll make me start murdering players permanently rather quickly. Also because you don't have ears, you couldn't have heard the little kid screaming from being his hands and foot being eaten. I don't wanna say "Please rewrite like the whole thing" but our two posts don't sync. Now if you get out of the trash can, then you can use that first paragraph as-is just fine. -------------------------------In Story------------------------------------------------------------------ @Delta: (unlocked: Morning Dove) Something poked part of itself through the foliage of the organic rod-filled thing the slime had fallen into. It was big! The lower half of it opened, and shining white spikes appeared. Also a light colored thing flopped about, covered in wet. The same color of the floppy thing was in the middle of the creature, but it was small compared to the other details. Before it could make out more, a rancid tasting air came from the holes in the creature, and it backed up and was gone. @Zeditha: (unlocked: mushroom spores) The bright thing flopped around, startling the slime slightly. It didn't look like it could move that fast, but it did. Everything was still that altered color... but it started to fade. Then went back to how it was. Something pushed on the slime from under the ground! @Dragonia: (unlocked: grass) The slime had taken so long to do all of its consuming and hardening that it only began now to realize that it had gotten warmer and brighter, then darker and colder, then warmer and brighter, then finally darker and colder again. It had stayed in the same place doing the same thing for longer than made sense... something should have interacted with it by now, but nothing had. The slime was able to see that it had somehow gotten itself within a wide, deep circular pit, and the top of the pit was not accessible anymore. But it was made out of the semi-soft inorganic ground- the whole place was. Some places had roundish, sometimes jagged edges, sticking out into the open. But by no means would it provide a way out. It was trapped, and alone! Yet something in the shadow of the hole's top moved. Edited May 22, 2014 by Viirin Share this post Link to post

But I've found some time to get on tonight. No idea how long that's gonna last.)) Avisk was worried about the odd feeling inside it but it knew it couldn't do anything about it. It was probably like the other strange feelings. They would happen no matter what. But that didn't mean Avisk liked that. It moved a little, absorbing more of the sharp pointing things in the inorganic wet. It started to get out of the inorganic wet when the slime fell back into it for some reason. It tried again, and after the fifth time it was able to get out of the inorganic wetness. More dirt started to show up. First it was soft and almost as squishy as the slime figured out itself was. Then as the slime started to trudge through that, the ground got a little firmer. Share this post Link to post

Posted May 23, 2014 Zeditha backed away from the flopping thing, and as she started forwards again, she was pushed! Annoyed, she made something. It used some of the water she had, and made something that would hurt. She sprayed a little of it at the flopping thing, and a bit at the pushing thing. Then she started to move away from the pushing thing, towards the flopping thing. It should be organic - only organic things should move. She wanted to absorb it. Share this post Link to post
