Trying to thrash and finding that he can not move Crell keeps trying to struggle as his body is paralyzed and slowly sinks along with the small pieces he had ripped off the organic before it had thrashed him off. Feeling and watching them drop through the wet with him he keeps trying to thrash around and get at them, the hunger that had been plaguing him was gone but he knew it would be back.

With a burst of energy the slime bent its newly completed legs and then sprang up, up, up into the air! What a test jump, it only felt air around it, and then suddenly it felt as though it didn't exist for a moment. Soon an invisible force dragged it back down, down, down splish! into the water and down down down thump! onto the inorganic ground, the force causing the shape to go down a little bit too-- would the slime go down forever?! it thought with panic-- but it stopped and moved up again, then down again, then up, and down, each increment decreasing. The slime adjusted itself just as the object steadied itself to not slant anymore.

Uh oh. The slime was disoriented - it couldn't remember where it had been and where it hadn't. Behind it, in front of it, to the side??? It really didn't know, so it decided to hop forward and find out where its hop took it. Hop! Squick into air, splish into water. Hop! Plish into air, splash into water. Sink, sink, grainy shifting ground on its toes. Hop! ... Hop! Kick, kick, kick at the water and it could move up in the environment, sideways in the environment, and even move down into the wet, down down --oof. What did it bump into?

Atrocitas paused when it sensed the wriggly things. It slimed over them but did not absorb just yet, trying to get a feeling for what they were or what sort of motion they were using. They were very wriggly, that was for sure. And it seemed that they were absorbing things too somehow. Atrocitas began to absorb the wriggly things, burrowing deeper into the big thing as well.

(Is now a good time to grow eyes? If so, I'll edit my post)

The slime felt soft organic stuff. It shuffled slightly, feeling around. It also heard some sort of soft noise, but it didn't know what it was. The slime moved forward very slowly and cautiously.

((My slimes actually go quite some time without eyes. I never really figured out why xd.png but it's fun xd.png ))

Avisk happily shared the organic thing with the larger slime and its friends. After all, the larger slime had killed it. Probably. It had at least found it so rightfully it was the slime's food to share. Avisk itself shook a little to show its happiness, its scales changing a brighter happy green color.

The smaller slime noticed the noise and didn't know what to make of it. It also noticed now, that the wing nubs it had before were starting to get bigger and more complex. Actual wings were beginning to form and it hadn't noticed thanks to the large shaking distraction. This was going to get very amusing very soon. Soon it would be able to soar in the Up just like the other slimes. Even the larger shaking one. That would be a sight, seeing the large one fly around.

Teethy decided to go for a floating grainy thing, charging at it and stuffing it into it's body. Teethy then felt another hole open, this time in the sides of his head. It was two small holes and as soon as they formed, he started having a unknown sensation. His entire world was changed by this and he rejoiced at it. Teethy then tried to continue going deeper.

Zeditha hung back, not wanting to aggravate this new slime by eating its food. Watching it, she decided it needed something she could call it by, like Runner and Small. After all, it seemed friendly; if it was in their little group, it needed a name.

Since it was so big... What else could she call it? She decided to name the big slime Big. Hey, they had Big and Small now! ((Yes I am just being annoying. Two Bigs now. :3))

She wondered briefly what the other slimes called her. She wondered if they even did call her something, or of they did, if it was the same thing. ((Well Aster has two names~))

Seeing Runner and Small eating Big's organic without harm - in fact, Big looked fairly pleased, and was sharing - Zeditha cautiously wandered over and grabbed at the end of the organic. It had a fluffy bit at the end, and she found it hard to grab onto any of the green tuft, so she bit a little further up. It was still annoyingly difficult. What could make eating easier? She realised there were lots of things she could do with her beak. There was something many creatures had... little bone nubs that were very sharp. She tried making the same kind of sharp nubs around the edges of her beak. Perhaps that would help.

((It's a mountain lion, right? She grabbed its tail.))

OOC @ Avialae: Yep! Coconut is 100% unlocked- every detail of the species. Also, the thistles were purple.

@Eaaem: I don't remember you developing hearing, but since you only have your own starting DNA right now, and I'd wait to grow anything at all- even the hearing- until the post after you've eaten your first thing. Will update you after you edit.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

@Avisk: (unlocked: mountain lion) The sound got louder, and became an obvious rumbling noise. Whatever kind of thing could make this, the slime didn't know. But it didn't have time to figure it out; the sound started getting loud enough to be annoying, but then the slime felt a strong slam against it and saw, as it spiraled through the air before it landed safely just off of the flat black, the giant slime's tail go back behind it. It had been attacked! The slime saw the source (must be?) of the rumbly sound, just enough to see the giant slime's lit-up shapes on the back of its wings and length of its neck. Just enough to see that the even gianter vehicle make the giant slime not...

@Aster: (unlocked: mountain lion) From around the curved part of the flat black, around a small hill, came something huge- really huge! It was a bright color and various parts of the front of the thing were shiny and bright. It moved so fast! The sound it made was getting louder, and- the slime was knocked far away, and was upside-down. The big creature had flung it away somehow, and widened its wings as much as it looked was possible, and the red stripe down its neck and body lit up, becoming brighter. Now able to see the back of the creature's wings, there were strange shapes on them, also red, which also started to glow.

It didn't matter. The big huge shiny thing rammed right into the giant slime, and in what seemed like an instant, the shiny thing had passed, and the slime was very very clearly dead.

@Zeditha: (unlocked: mountain lion sounds) The slime was hardly paying attention to its surroundings, which made its new surroundings very... surprising? It was laying on the ground on its side, in a strange way that it hadn't lain. It wasn't even laying down the last second it was aware of... it was across the flat black from where it had been, on the dirt. The big slime was glowing in a couple places, making itself look very angry? The color was an angry color. But something else, the same color, shiny, and moving quickly-

The slime didn't want to see that. Just like the slime had run and flopped over one of the smaller slimes much earlier, so did the shiny thing run over the big slime. But the shiny thing didn't flop over it. Then the shiny thing was gone, and the...

@Crell: The paralysis got worse, and the slime wasn't able to move at all. Eventually, it was able to though, after getting into pure darkness. Whatever was going on around it, it had no clue. But the slime knew the general direction of where the pieces were that it had gotten but been unable to claim earlier...

@Teethy: (unlocked: redwood bark) It tasted like it was full of salt, and it was crumbly, but full, or at least covered, no. Not entirely. Just in its grooves... in some inorganic grainy stuff. The same stuff that was on the ground where it wasn't very wet, that the slime had gotten away from awhile ago. But it was at least mostly organic, and the slime absorbing it was useful, but grabbing onto it was even better since it wasn't stuck in the fast-moving current anymore. It was in slightly deeper water, it felt. The noises it heard were... it didn't know what to make of them, but they sounded consistent, at least.

@Atrocitas: (unlocked: maggot) The wiggly things were... organic. Nothing special or of interest, taste-wise. But at least it was organic, and absorbing it revealed the whatever organic it was that they were covering. The slime had felt it already, but it was more prominent now.

@Selim: (unlocked: black ant) The small things were hard, but tasty- the inorganic wall they had been disappearing into however, was not. The things that had been going into the wall didn't even come back out. Nothing did. Nothing of interest to the slime here anymore at all. Maybe it could go back the way it came in and find some other direction to go...

@Tch'ah: Inorganic, rough, hard. This was not something useful to the slime, and bumping into it as hard as it did hurt. But touching the thing was something else- something... squishy? It was organic. Salty, too. Little tiny squishy spheres. LOTS of them.

Avisk was shocked to say the least. Shocked, alarmed and saddened at the same time. The big slime had tried to stop the large shiny fast thing. To protect them? It had moved everyone away from the shiny fast thing before it itself got attacked. Avisk would have done the same thing had it been that size. Maybe not now however- now that the giant slime was dead.

But what now? The giant slime was dead. The fast shiny thing has gone off to wherever it was going before. Kind and Unsure were knocked nearby itself but further away from the giant slime. Now what? That thought kept running through its own head. Now what?

A saddened chirrup came from Avisk. It stood itself up from being slightly knocked over and trotted over to the large slime. Wary of the other possibilities a bad shiny thing like that could come back or bring friends to do the same to them. Except probably worse since nobody was yet even near the size of this giant slime.

The flattened body of the giant slime was even worse up close. Avisk chirruped slightly differently to let the other two slimes know that everything was clear so far. It treaded lightly on the flat black, noticing now it wasn't hot like before. It walked slowly ever close to the large dead slime. What were they going to do? Eat it like Avisk had eaten and killed Angry?? But this one had not done anything bad to them. That would have been terrifying to have this one be as angry all the time as Angry. The display had enstilled enough fear in Avisk during those few moments that it did not wish to imagine how exactly terrifying it would be to fight this creature if it had been mad.

Aster got to its feet slowly, the shock it was feeling at everything that had just happened preventing it from feeling anything else, except a strange emptiness as the smaller slime looked at the dead Loud lying in the middle of the flat black strip. Aster wasn't sure if Loud knocking it away from the fast shiny glowing thing had been intentional or not, and even though the much bigger slime had seemed friendly there was no way to tell if it would stay that way, but, well . . . Loud *had* seemed friendly. It had even shared food with the other three slimes, food that it had found on its own.

Aster could see Big and Small getting up on opposite sides of the flat black strip. Both slimes seemed unharmed. Small was even heading towards Loud's body. Aster also headed towards Loud, looking around furtively for any more of the shiny glowing things. Right now it was more worried about them than anything coming from Loud.

Reaching the spot where Loud's body laid on the flat black strip, Aster jumped onto the side of the larger slime and walked towards the middle of the strip, looking down as it spotted Small below it. Beneath its feet Loud still felt slightly warm, but Aster could tell by the lack of resistance Loud gave to its footsteps that the slime was dead, if it had had any doubts before. The slime wasn't sure what to do now. It wasn't sure why, but it didn't want to leave Loud's corpse just yet, and Small at least seemed to feel the same way. Yet eventually it would have to leave to look for food. Aster wasn't terribly hungry after the meal it had just had, so it would be okay for a while. Maybe by the time the slime was hungry again its emotions would have settled a little.

Looking for something to do, Aster extended its neck and rubbed its snout against the oil gland that it had realized it had grown some time back, and began to groom its soft fluffies so that they would be protected from wet. At the same time, Aster concentrated, and the musculature it had grown earlier to fly with that did not connect to the wings the slime had taken from Angry began to stretch and grow, weaving themselves into the flesh of the stolen wings. At the same time, the wings Aster had claimed for its own began to subtly change so that they could use the method of flight the alien musculature was able to provide as well as their own.

There were lots of easily absorbent organics to eat, and they had a pleasant saltiness to the flavor. These were perfect to rid the aftertaste of the rotted thing from awhile back! The slime shifted over a cluster of these round things and sank onto them, eagerly consuming them. There were so many, after all, and these would help fatten it up and give it energy for more flailing about. Eat to live (and live to eat)!

What had happened? Big was sharing, and then... she was in the air? No, she landed again, and she managed to turn her head towards a loud sound just in time to see a huge shiny thing flash past, rumbling over Big as if he weren't there. What was it? Zeditha was very scared. Shaking her head to get rid of the last of the dizziness, she took off. Perhaps there was a clue in the air.

Seeing no more Big Shinies, she flew down to Big. He seemed very dead. Well - time to eat! She dug her beak into the nearest part of Big.

Silvayire awoke. Something hard, smooth and cold was pressing against the slime from all sides, except one. He was about to slime himself towards it, but then he was jolted sharply and had a sensation of moving... downwards. The hard-smooth was still around him, but parts of it were moving away... Suddenly, they hit something else. It was wet. Bits of the hard-smooth were around. He soon hit something else - not as smooth or hard as the hard-smooth - and stopped moving. The bits of hard-smooth were lying around. In one direction, the bits of hard-smooth were smaller.

Silvayire slimed off in a random direction, following the smaller bits of hard-smooth. The wet seemed to disappear, and then he came across something organic. He started to absorb it.

After a while, Aster had completely covered all of its feathers with the oil that would keep them from getting wet. The time it had spent performing this activity had given the slime a chance to think about the situation. It was bad for a slime to kill another slime, but none of the three smaller slimes had killed Loud. It had been killed by that fast-moving shiny glowing thing instead. If that was the case, then it should be all right for Aster and the other slimes to eat Loud's dead body. Aster didn't feel like there was anything wrong with a slime just eating another slime if it was already dead. The slime tried to bite through Loud's skin beneath it but the size of the giant slime made it impossible for Aster to break through the thick covering to the soft flesh beneath it. Finally the slime remembered the long straight razor-sharp claws on the inner toes of each of its feet. Lifting one of its legs up and kicking at Loud's prone form, Aster was able with some difficulty to slice an opening through the giant slime's thick skin. The slime then inserted its head into the opening it had made and began to feed.

OOC @ Evil Sethoss: I was digging around and didn't see where I said that. I know I have a bunch of times to people, though. Usually sensory overloads occur when you first begin to see when it's daytime or at least bright, or you begin to hear and there are a lot of sounds around, or you start to be able to sense movement with antennae and there are lots of things moving. Stuff like that. Other times, it's a single big thing- like you've only heard cricket chirps and the leaves of trees moving in a breeze, then a fire engine blows its horn about five inches from your face. Rarely, I'll also say it when I can't think of exactly what to say is in the area, so I'm just vague so players can be a little descriptive on their own and I can try and guess what they want, or give them something that fits the description. Or totally divert it but still use what I think someone is saying as a direction to me.

@Avialae: I'd describe what Drat looks like right now, but it would be traumatic for Dragonhatchling. You don't have to worry about breaking through anything- it's already done.

-------------------------------------------------

@Avisk: The slime wasn't moving, but then again, it wouldn't. Looking closely at the slime's scales... they somehow made more sense to the slime than its own scales did. More sense than its thorn spikes did. Poking them, they rattled. That must have been the source of the sound- the slime could shake all of its scales, making each of them rattle, and the combined noise is why they were so loud and effective. To make even 1% of the same racket, the slime had to make all of its wooden spikes bang against each other, but if it made use out of these, then it could actually communicate with much less effort and over a greater distance, but in the same way.

@Aster: (unlocked: floss silk seedpod fluff, Eurasian eagle-owl) Beginning to consume the dead slime was filling, especially after starting to make itself hungry again with the edits to its wing musclature. The big shiny thing gone, and quickly it couldn't be heard anymore, either. Completely gone. One of the other slimes had started eating what was left too, but it was eating some of the now dead slime on another part of the flat black. It was totally different now- at least in color! It looked shiny and like it was more colors than the slime knew about. But somehow, all the colors just seemed to blend together, and not, at the same time.

@Zeditha: (unlocked: earthworm, rhinoceros horn) First to consume the remains of the dead slime, but soon after one of the other slimes started doing the same after it was stared at for awhile. The middle-sized slime (compared to itself and the other two) didn't look happy at first, but it didn't seem to care now. The smallest slime, which was far bigger than when the slime gave it that name, still wasn't eating, and was only barely poking and staring at what was left.

@Tch'ah: (unlocked: carp) The little salty bubble-like things didn't entirely stick to each other, but they didn't really disappear from one another when touched, either. Whatever they were, absorbing them would let the slime know. Probably. They weren't very filling, though. But luckily for the slime, something within the wet moved all around, but mostly below it. All there was below it, that it could feel, besides the salty spheres, was inorganic.

@Silvayire: (unlocked: orange peel) Not only was the organic not wet, it was very dry and crusty, and a flaky something came off it when the slime folded it as it pulled it inside itself. Absorbing it was... it felt like if it was wetter, it would be easier to absorb. But it was what it was. Besides this organic thing that the slime now mostly had within itself, there wasn't anything else that felt organic.

Teethy decided to develop the hard things he absorbed along with fusing them with flexible skin. It would allow him to dig through the sand and attack more effectively. He also decided to make lots and lots of spikes on his body, which was painful but would soon be worth it. He also decided to make that floating thing, so he could float when he wanted to too. He also started to grow bigger. This made him hungry, and soon he saw a organic, it moved and was scaly with two big eyes. It had small teeth and four legs. It also had a long tail and longish head, it was about his size as well. Teethy decided to try to fight this organic, to hopefully absorb it and gain it's characteristics.

Squick, splop, squish, the slime trapped many soft, salty balls into its viscous goop. The slime expended as much energy absorbing them as it did absorb from them, that is to say, these round organics were very light in energy, hardly sating hunger at all. But they were tasty, they were edible, and they were fun to feel. And... the slime was distracted from its happy meal by shifting grains beneath it. The ground it was on was disturbed by more than just water... but there was not anything to be eaten from it, after all, unless the shifting was made by something beneath the sand... there was something hiding under the sand. It might just be a new world to explore, it might be something good to eat, but if only there was a way to find out! The slime scratched at the ground with its slime futilely -- its goopiness was excellent for capturing delicious salt-balls, but poor at moving even itself, let alone something else. Its brand new legs would surely be of help, with their strong kick-! But, no, these legs were not very good at the task. Recognizing that the slime's attempts at searching had dead-ended, it settled back with its current meal somewhat unhappily. Splurp.

Since the others were eating Avisk decided that it wouldn't be bad if it did too. What else were they going to do with the nice big slime? Leave it here? That wouldn't be the best decision seeing as now it was rather obvious other slimes were around and could possibly get a-hold of this powerful one. So Avisk gave in, still slightly bothered that they were eating a helpful slime that hadn't attacked them.

The scales were somewhat hard to get around, but Avisk was able to rip off a few of them to eat those first while exposing a softer part underneath that was easier to tear into. The scales themselves jingled when the slime picked them up, which amused Avisk for a moment before they were eaten. It was a far better mechanism than the woody spines it had to clack again its own scales.

Kind and Unsure kept eating too however, and given what it knew of how eating worked it wondered what would come of the slime once they had their fill. There was so much of this slime that it might actually have to be left out in the open. Maybe later they could hide the corpse and retrieve it later if they needed more food. That could work. Hide it under where it had originally come from perhaps?

Avisk's wings unfurled from their resting positions without the slime realizing that. It'd forgotten about the wings. They had nearly been wings before all the food had been given to them, and now, with that helping provide the energy the wings now grew fully. The action suddenly scared Avisk as it didn't expect anything to really 'fall' to the sides. But in a quick motion the slime lifted them up, and back down experimentally. They raised the slime's body ever so slightly on the down-stroke. So they would work? Probably. Oh boy, the slime would be able to fly now?? That thought somewhat worried Avisk. Kind and Unsure were better at this, having wings for longer. How was it going to keep up with them?

Regardless, they had larger things to worry about at the moment. Like eating the larger slime.

OOC: All right. I've seen a couple large animals get hit by cars at close range, and they ended up with largely internal injuries. I know that that's not necessarily what happens all the time, but I guess that image is what I defaulted to.

Aster stared down at the now-shiny Big that was eating from the dead slime, transfixed as it noticed the other slime's shininess for the first time. Had Big become a shiny? Could the slimes do that? Could Aster . . . no, if Aster made its own surface like Big's it would be difficult for the slime to see. As it was, Aster could admire Big's shininess all it liked as long as they were together. Eventually, Aster made itself wrench its gaze away from Big to check on Small. On the other side of Loud's corpse, the third slime had finally started to eat a little bit of the dead slime.

For a while now, Aster had wanted grasping-ends that could hold things. It would have made carrying the spherical shinies that it had lost a while back much easier. Of course, it could carry things in its mouth, but that wasn't ideal, because it couldn't eat while it was carrying something. Many of the organics that Aster had eaten had had a second set of legs closer to their head, but they were all for moving first and if they were built for holding things at all, only secondarily. Aster didn't need the help of another set of legs to move, so it hadn't grown anything. But this new animal that Aster had learned about from eating Loud had legs that were just perfect for holding things. The only problem with growing them was that Aster was pretty sure that its perfect forelegs were supposed to go where its moving-legs were now. The slime would just grow the perfect holding-legs that were hindlegs in the foreleg position except that the fact that they were hindlegs made them not hook up to Aster's front right. Well, the creature that Aster had copied its body from did have forelegs of its own, just small and useless ones. Aster would use that animal's hook-up parts, but make them big, so they would work with the larger perfect holding legs. While the slime was at it, it decided to add a little bit of the dead organic Loud had shared with Aster before it died, so that the second half of the perfect legs were a bit longer, and so they could swivel in different directions at the break before the grasping-parts instead of just being stuck pointing straight down. Small nubs began to appear below where Aster had grafted on the wings it had stolen from Angry as it began to grow a third set of limbs. There was noplace the slime could steal something similar to the legs it was growing now, though. Aster would have to do it all itself this time.

As the limb nubs began to slowly enlarge, Aster realized that long spiky things were forming on their undersides. It hadn't meant to do that . . . oh, but the forelimbs of the creature it had used to grow the hook-on parts for the perfect limbs it was growing had those on its small, useless limbs for some reason. Maybe they could be useful to the slime though. They had sharp ends, after all. But they were weak and brittle, and didn't seem like they would be much use as a weapon. Wait, there was something Aster had eaten a while ago that was a similar shape, but dense, strong, and very sharp. If the slime infused these brittle spikes with those denser ones they should be quite useful as a weapon. Yes, Aster would do that.

Starting to grow something so complex was making Aster quite hungry, even though the perfect grasping limbs were far from fully formed. The slime dipped its head into Loud's body and began to eagerly tear away flesh from it, swallow it, and return to do so again, over and over.

OOC: Aster is growing Eurasian eagle-owl hindlegs as frontlegs along with a cassowary shoulder (mixed in with mountain lion shoulder if she needs to for size). Mountain lion is also mixed in with the second half of the leg to make it longer and to allow the wrists to be turned in different directions. Cassowary primary "feathers" are growing on the underside of the forelimbs, but they're actually just big quills. Aster is combining them with the goathead thorn spikes she unlocked a while back to make them more formidable.

Zeditha looked up from eating Big, bits of slime dripping from her beak. She looked at Small. Why wasn't Small eating? Small seemed almost... sad. Why?

Then she realised. Big was gone, and Small was sad that Big had gone. It was true that Big could have been a good protector for them, but not eating him just because he died? Sshouldn't that be a reason to eat something?

Well, it didn't matter why Small was sad, Small was sad and wasn't eating. Zeditha walked over to Small, and chirped concernedly. ('Are you okay?') Then, Zeditha put a wing over Small and purred, a new noise from the thing Big had given them. Her wing obscured the nubs Small was growing, so she didn't notice them. She stayed in that position for a small while, and then moved away slightly and chirped again. Hopefully Small wasn't sad now. She nudged a piece of slime towards Small and looked expectantly back at the other slime.

@Serket: (unlocked: ant taste buds, ant jaw strength) There was something organic but really dry that the slime bumped into after awhile. Though, the slime felt kind of sharp inorganic things in a pile... and the pile was going up? In order to get to the organic thing, the slime had gone that way. There wasn't really any wet anymore; it seemed to be gone rather easily.

The lack of wetness wasn't what had the slime's attention - no, it was the sharp inorganics. Not sharp like soft things it had eaten at the very beginning, and not quite pokey like the pointed things down the scratchy pit... different kind of sharp. With the wetness now going away, the slime could focus on the sharpness. It piled upon itself, going up and up... where?

The slime left the organics it had consumed to go investigate the sharp. Odd how the pile was so dry, despite there being wetness all around just a moment ago. The slime shifted around the pile, trying to match it to something it already knew. But there was nothing really to compare it to, and the remaining hunger in the slime was annoyed. There was no way to eat this inorganic sharpness... no real reason to stay. Besides, the slime could sense organic things elsewhere.

But the sharpness...

It held the slime's attention. If the pile went up, did it go somewhere? The slime didn't have much of a concept for up. As best it could figure, 'up' was a version of elsewhere that went in a different direction than other things. It was the same place the wetness had been coming from. Did the pile make the wetness?

The slime pressed itself up against the sharp and made sure to remember the taste. Maybe it would be useful later.

The slime now very full shook itself happily. It had eaten a lot of mass like the urge told it to. As it tried to find it's way back to the warm it felt something. It felt like the bio-mass was pushing against the top of it. The slime shook trying to throw the feeling off but only made it worse. Another thing was pushing out of it's top. It felt like when the other hard thing was pushing out of it but different. This was smaller and more flexible.

OOC @ Everyone: Finally doing updates! Sorry for that. Good news though, is I finally found a forum site I can use to do what I've been telling you I was planning for awhile- copy every thread and get all players to the same forum from every site the RP is on, so you can interact with each other, no matter what site you started on. Let me know if you'll move to that once I have it done or not.
