The slime liked that it had more organic. But there was room for improvement.The slime wiggled out of the inorganic. It felt a little bit more full but not much. It needed more! The Slime started to move it's way across this place. There was lots of inorganic. The ground here was very bumpy. Soon the slime reached a place where there was only the grainy inorganic was there. As the slime was moving a something, hit it. The slime twirled. And when in the way off the Hit. Quickly there was a inorganic that felt unnaturally smooth. As the slime felt it it found a hole on the side. The slime squeezed in and found a large amount of organic. It started absorbing it all.

Avisk ignored the freaking out of Kind, having larger things to worry about. Literally. The large creature had not been intimidated at all from the loudest roar it could muster. Although, maybe it had not heard it?? Those scales were awfully loud. Maybe Avisk could do that too sometime. Maybe once it had grown up enough.

This large creature was curious it seemed. At least that's the feel Avisk got once it had stopped making the odd sound and shown attention to Avisk itself. Kind was flying around frantically, and poor Unsure was stuck. Why did it always seem Unsure was stuck? The large creature however, seemed interested in them all. Maybe so they wouldn't get eaten? It was sure big enough to eat them all without effort. Why hadn't it done that yet??

Kind landed as frantically as it flew rather nearby Avisk. Hissing and carrying on once the big creature stopped the noisy shake. Avisk hissed in return to Kind, scolding it somewhat. "Not attack". The slime tried to point out for Kind's sake. Attacking would be terrible. Plus, this large creature had not yet actually attacked. And Avisk wanted to find out why.

Avisk's wing nubs were still busy growing, but its new legs and longer body coupled with the height it had standing on this pile allowed it to jump over Kind and in front of her. Further between this new creature and its friends. Again Avisk hissed to Kind to say not to attack. It didnt want Kind dead, regardless of how terrifying this creature was. The slime took a tentative step forward and shook once the other shaking stopped. A pleasant ringing tone far too quiet compared to the other shaking. "Hello" Avisk wanted to say.

It stood up on its hind legs, showing off the exoskeleton armor it had underneath that also created a better rattle now that they were exposed more. All of the harder and longer needles shook too with it, creating a slightly louder sound. Of course Avisk could not match the intensity of this other creature and was starting to have second thoughts on how good an idea this was. The shaking could have been a warning instead of a hello like Avisk was used to. This could just be aggravating the very large creature.

Yet, nobody had been eaten yet. And that alone was important to point out. It could eat all of them in one gulp if it really really wanted to. Avisk tried the shaking hello again, adding in a happy trill from mixing rat and pelican. The sounds were odd, but hopefully they worked.

((Avisk is figuring since it hadn't eaten anybody yet that perhaps the creature is friendly. This one isn't presenting as Angry did, trying to kill them all.... that's good enough to go say hello for Avisk lol. No this has nothing to do with it being my old slime xd.png Avisk is a friendly slime... who likes protecting things.... and burning things...

Good ol' DRA71T. I remember when you were a literal ball of scales.... look how terrifying you are now *hugs DRA71T for a second*))

OOC @ Evil Sethoss: Oh, I did forget to give you that.

@Avialae, Zeditha, Dragonhatchling: user posted image.

-----------------------------------------------------------

@Eaaem: The slime had sat, unactivated, not counting as alive, in its sample vial inside a house owned by a strange old man with a lichen-filled beard, usually drunk, with a small rickety wooden porch/pier sticking out from his shack. Something bumped into one of the support pillars, and it was just enough to make the vial fall, crack on the edge of a board, and fall through a hole onto the ground below the house.

------------------------------------------------------------

@Tch'ah: (unlocked: dorsal fin) The thing tasted awful, but it was organic, and organic was filling. At least this amount of it was! The organic remains belonged to some sort of creature, the slime quickly realized. One that... the slime was under the wet, and the creature had come from there. Or was meant to be there. The strange shape below was definitely not part of it. There was more of the organic, but the slime hadn't had the time to absorb it yet.

@Zeditha: The huge creature looked at the slime, and it looked... amused. It didn't take the slime seriously! It barely paid more attention to it while it thudded across the ground, the slime able to feel its weight through the ground, as it wandered a little further and stood over Runner, sniffing it.

@Topaz: The slime activated and felt itself falling, the only experience it ever had. But the experience lasted only an instant; it then thudded on its landing, hitting something soft, fuzzy, and organic. There were other organics too, different ones, touching it from above.

@Avisk: The giant came over to the slime and sniffed at it, its inhales making the slime lose its balance and forward on all fours. Even its breath was this strong!? It looked at the slime Avisk jumped over to protect, and looked almost like laughing, and wandered off towards the collapsed slime, and sniffed it, too.

@Selim: It was dry, and crusty, and the outermost part of it fragmented as the slime attempted to absorb it, which it did successfully. But it was soft, too, and slightly flexible. There was another flavor too, but whatever it was, it didn't... the slime was able to tell what the other flavor was. It was another type of organic, one that moved!

@Aster: The slime wasn't able to see anything, or move, but it could hear. All it heard though, was the other two slimes it had been traveling with. Until the slime felt... even as it was, it still felt (maybe it was recovering?) air. Air forcibly blowing against it, making its altered exterior ripple slightly.

Zeditha stopped hissing at Runner's insistence, but kept her ready-to-fight stance. It was amused? Well, it made sense - they couldn't possibly fight it, in the same way an ant could no longer affect her. Remembering her first meal, she felt amused and knew how the big Dragon felt. Wait, where had that word come from? It was... something she was supposed to do. Something she should be. She had to become a dragon - and this thing had! That meant it was a Slime, but one that had grown a lot more than them.

Noticing its interest in her friends, Zeditha cautiously lowered her guard. It wasn't like it would make much difference anyway. She gave an apologetic meow, and then a curious trill (also a cat noise - sort of an upwards purr). Perhaps they could be friends! With this Dragon as a friend, they would be able to do anything!

Had the Hello worked?? Was that its true way of saying hello? Avisk righted itself carefully, looking to where the creature was interested. It was checking out everyone. What about that thought? Was this large creature trying to figure them out or something else?

"Hello" Avisk tried again, adding in a call this time that was friendly. The shaking might not have made a loud enough noise. The slime followed the other creature, making care to take special precaution of staying away so not to intrude too far on space. It wondered what the other creature was going to do now that Kind and Unsure were checked out, and Kind had calmed down.

Oh! Wait! Avisk had an idea!! It had been in the process of trying to eat a bunch of things from the giant pile. Still giving a glance to the larger creature the slime could see the smaller personal pile on top of it. If only the wings were grown and it could fly to there like the other slimes. The nubs, however, were slowly being not-nubs and more amusingly those could move now but without actual wings. "Hungry!?" Avisk asked toward the large creature as loudly as it could. It shook to get attention but otherwise used a combination of pelican and tiger to get the call right. Hopefully that didnt mean they were food. Avisk was all for sharing, but not making themselves meals.

The gust of air blowing against Aster was warm, almost hot, and slightly moist somehow. The slime very much wanted to be able to see what was causing it, but it couldn't. It couldn't even move in response to the gust of air, not even slightly. And then, the blowing air stopped, and the slime could only hear the calls of its two companions again. Aster hoped the return of being able to feel meant that the slime would once again be able to see and move again, as the slime badly wanted to know just what exactly what was going on, but it knew better than to assume that that would be the case by now. For now, all Aster could do was listen, lay motionless on the ground, and wait.

The slime shook, feeling something cold. It moved a little, shaking slightly. It felt something organic, shifting a little within the soft fuzzy stuff. It tried to reach torward the organic.

The slime wondered how anything organic could taste bad, could have filled it with a deep revulsion. After all, its life mission was to eat these foods so that something far off in the future would happen. But this decaying matter was unpleasant to absorb, although it did satisfy the ache that commanded it to search for sustenance, and so the slime eased off of the absorption as the hunger slackened. Its limbs were still not formed, but the slime no longer felt paralyzed with weariness, and instead was filled with disgust at the evil taste, and a great desire to abandon the rot. Carefully, could it shift its form while strange things were happening to it, so that it could discover what manner of shape the unusual inorganic now-ground was? How were its dips and rises, what was its texture, and what was its size or reach? Most importantly, were any organics hidden with the inorganic, much like how itself used to be concealed in the cool, smooth confinement?

Shaking himself and opening its mouth for a second Crell screams silently before closing his mouth again and grabbing onto the thing that had thrown him for a second tighter. Bending his legs and trying to pull himself closer to the dark thing opening his mouth again to bite the part that was trying to stab him. The small parts on his legs digging into the dark think as best he can Crell can feel himself being moved through the wet much faster than ever before.

An organic that moved? The slime knew it was going to be tough to get it but it relished the challenge. It was beginning to get a bit full but it had one mission: absorb and grow. It moved towards it all while trying to absorb it.

I'm having Books do the update today; I haven't been able to get into a creative mood. So, I'll use someone else's creativity!

OOC @ Everyone: Okay, so when talking with Books, we came to a conclusion. "It's a good idea to write everything in plain English every once in awhile" says Books. And my creativity gland is empty. So, I'm just gonna write this update in normal speech, just to get the update out. Plus, it'll help a lot of you guys (possibly me too?) figure out exactly what is going on, and where.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

@Aster, Zeditha, Avisk: (aster unlocks green and blue ink glands)

DRA71T sniffs everybody, and seeing Aster all messed up, he realizes that all three of you are slimes. He's met quite a few, and he knows cell conversions. He breathes gently with his mouth all over Aster. The breath contains little white puffballs that look like dandelion seeds, because that's partially what they are. They're also combined with some of its other genes and Aster starts converting at a rapid rate, gaining mobility and the ink glands start to grow as the weakness/immobility receeds. Additionally, Aster starts feeling rather energetic.

Hearing and seeing Avisk try to say 'food' isn't really understood because Drat (that's what Dragonhatchling said his name was, without the numbers) never unlocked speech. But he does understand something, because he goes down to the arch below the road where he was hiding (dump trucks dumped stuff on him while he slept) and picked up a dead mountain lion and flopped it on the opposite side of the road. He's still in the road, but the food isn't- so it's closer to Aster than anyone else, but he looks over at Zeditha and Avisk to let them know that it's for all of them. You wanted food? He didn't understand you were offering it, and thought you were asking for some. Oh, right. Avisk had been eating a dead dog's head, and gained some of its memories- only the two facts: Vehicles aren't animals, they're controlled by humans who ride inside them. Also, humans provide all sorts of quality organics if you jump all over them (dog wasn't taught not to beg. See problems with a slime doing the same thing....?)

@Teethy:

Ever been to the beach? About five to ten feet in, the sand dips down and its just a bunch of silt, because it's an undercurrent riptide. These are always dangerous if you don't pay attention, because you can easily have your legs pulled out from under you and you can drown like, right there. Anyway, that's the part you're currently in. Because of all the garbage that people dump, there are little pieces of animal bone from various bonfires, seaweed, and dead jellyfish around. Where you are specifically, there are only seashells and animal bone. You can find a sand dollar if you want.

@Crell:

The manta ray was able to stab you after all, but your legs are still stuck in its tail at the same time. So you kinda got each other. You should start feeling paralysis coming from its tail, but at the same time, your genes are screwing up what they're trying to unlock from the organic touching you, which will complete your electrical powers. That's like... the whole point you saw this thing to begin with.

@Silvayire:

Your canister was either picked up by a dump truck recently, or you were already dumped there with a previous load, but now another dump truck just dumped its load all over the place, and a broken desk came down and kind of exploded the bottom end of your canister, making it fly off. You were still inside. Then the canister hit a tree and broke even more, and you fell out of the remains of the canister, along with pieces of glass from it, into the water.

@Tch'aw:

The very dead fish you absorbed was on top of a rusty tin can, if you care about that. But since you're mostly wondering your size, you're still pretty much the size of your own fist, with half-formed frog legs since that's what you were doing. Also there was that crawdad that was poking you that you started absorbing, and it tried pulling itself out of your slime, but I don't remember what you were doing in response of that.

@Topaz:

You landed below the shack, on top of some moss that is growing pretty much everywhere. There is Spanish Moss growing through the floorboards and touching you from above. Away from the bottom of the house, around its exterior, is grass. Just... normal grass. Also some clover and foxtail, I guess. Down from the house is the swampwater, but since it's too far for me to describe to you right now, there are pusy willow growing, as well as some pampas gras.

@Selim: (unlocked: California king snake)

You found a snakehole, finally. You've kinda been looking since the beginning, right? Anyway, you found a bunch of shed skin from a snake, and are absorbing that, but the moving things are actually fire ants. There are a lot of fire ants in the desert, or at least there are in the one I'm using for you. Starting to absorb them doesn't matter much really, until they start biting, which some of them are now unless you... no. Screw that. You pulled the ones you got into yourself from the butt first, so they were dead before they could bite. You didn't absorb enough to unlock anything from them yet, though.

((I was mostly concerned with the size of the trash can lid shape below me because I was trying to figure out what it was happy.gif And... I didn't realize that there had been other organics-- I'd thought it was just the slime, the corpse, and the weird-ground. So I had Tch'aw move away from the dead thing and search for other organics...))

The ups and the downs were repetitive and, compared to the slime's experiences with texture thus far, rough. The slime grew bored of moving its gel over the grooves of the inorganic ground below it and wondered when the changing would stop. Its new half-legs were itching, and a foreign organic was itching at the slime's body. ...Hold up, organic? The slime curiously absorbed some of the pointy organic lodged within it and was puzzled by a tickling sensation that increased. He moved towards where the organic had trapped into its body and discovered that the point was just part of a larger organic, much chunkier than the ooze that it had slurped up first, or the thin one with puffs on it that had been its second absorption. It tasted better than the horrid rotten thing it had consumed some of, and curiously enough, it moved a lot, wiggling lots more than the gentle water could have been pushing on it. The organic was animate of its own volition-- a novelty!

As the gust of air stopped blowing against Aster, the slime felt the feeling in its body return and realized that it was becoming once again able to move. It got to its feet, looking around with eyes that were still blurry but rapidly clearing. Aster didn't recall getting its strength back so quickly any of the other times this had happened to it, but quickly shrugged any questions about its accelerated recovery off. After all, it had worked in the slime's favor.

A quick glance around it told Aster that Big and Small were both all right; they'd recently fallen silent, and after all the noise they'd been making that had worried Aster. Small was standing on top of the pile that it had made earlier while Big was on the ground, and they both were gazing intently at something in the opposite direction. Small also seemed to mostly still, which was odd, because Aster swore that it could hear the rattling noises that Small made when it moved around. They were quite loud, so there was no mistake.

It was when Aster turned its head to see what the other two slimes were so interested in that it realized what was going on. Another slime had joined them at some point, one that was much bigger than all three of them put together. Aster knew it was a slime though, despite the fact that none of its silime was visibly showing and its body wasn't changing; something deep within itself told it that this was how slimes should look when they got that big. Not the only way, though; just one of them. Aster had been wanting to absorb things and grow without a specific goal in mind before, but now upon realizing just how big it was possible to get . . .

The new gigantic slime was also the one making the noises, as its scales rattled the same way that Small's did. That probably explained all the noise earlier, when Aster hadn't been able to see. Because of that, Aster decided to think of the fourth slime as Loud for now, since it couldn't think of it as Big even though the new slime was much bigger than Big, as it would be too confusing.

Since Loud seemed to be headed away from the rest of them for the moment, and its body language didn't appear threatening, Aster decided it was safe to take some of its attention off of the gigantic slime for the moment. The first thing the slime saw when it did was the round, furry-hard organic it had been trying to eat before. Aster had been ready to give up on that due to the difficulty in biting into it that it had experienced earlier, but now it noticed something different about the hard brown sphere - a part of it, where Aster had managed to rip some of the skin off earlier, was now white. Aster just had to investigate that, and bit into the white part, finding that it was not only much softer than the hard furry brown coating, but sweeter too. Aster rapidly began to eat the sweet white insides of the furry brown sphere that it had exposed earlier, breaking off some of the brown parts as well and absorbing them to make it easier to get to the white insides. It was easier to break off the hard brown outsides now that there was a big hole. Once Aster had eaten enough of the sphere, a clear liquid gushed out onto the ground. Aster drank as much of it as it could, but the slime missed a lot of it. After the liquid was gone, the slime put the remaining half of the sphere in its mouth, bit it into pieces, and swalllowed the pieces.

Loud rattling announced the fact that Loud was coming back. With a loud "thud," a large dead thing landed nearby Aster. However, the dead thing seemed much less dead than most of the organics lying in the pile. Aster was naturally reluctant to eat something that belonged to something so much bigger than itself, at least when that something was right in front of it, but now that it had seen the freshly dead organic, Aster very much wanted to eat and learn from that specific creature. Spreading its wings and flapping them as it ran over to the dead organic, Aster opened its mouth and tore past the skin and into the flesh, taking a large hunk of meat in its jaws, and, caution winning over for a minute, fixed its gaze on Loud, waiting to see what sort of reaction the gigantic slime had, and readying itself to escape if it was hostile.

Avisk amusingly watched the larger slime as it aided Aster. Whatever it was doing was amazing to the smaller slime, and awfully helpful. Maybe it eventually could do that too? The smaller slime figured that since it could rattle like this large slime, perhaps it was the same species and would eventually get this ability.

But maybe not. Something in Avisk had been telling it all along that this creature was slime, but also could have had many different outcomes. Just like the three here. They had all started out slime, but look at them now. Avisk would have smiled at that if it could. That was interesting and made it happy even though it couldn't place why.

So when the larger slime started moving away, Avisk watched. It had asked about food, so did this mean it was uninterested after helping them? Maybe it wasn't hungry and had just wanted to say hello. The slime rattled again slightly differently, almost seeming to say "goodbye" but very softly. It hadn't realized that however as that was starting to become habit.

Except, the "goodbye" didn't last terribly long. The large slime was back rather quickly and had dropped a large dead organic nearer to Unsure. And Unsure seemed to go right for it. Since the larger slime didn't instantly swat Unsure away, Avisk dashed up to the organic as well and ripped off a portion. It laid it down nearer to the larger slime, rattling nicely, before ripping itself off another portion and starting to munch on that. The larger slime was sharing, but before they ate all of the organic it wanted to be sure the large slime at least got a little bit of the organic it so kindly shared.

Biting at this thing as it gives him pain Crell screams as best he can in the water and pulls himself closer to give a harder bite on it. He can feel himself having a hard time, something was different, but he didn't care. Biting at and digging his legs into whatever this thing is Crell can feel his body start not moving as well as he wants it to and starts biting and gnawing at whatever had hurt him vigorously.

OOC @Evil Sethoss: Yep. California King.

-------------------------------------

@Tch'ah: (unlocked: crawdad eyestalks) As the slime absorbed the hard points, it felt itself lose its grip on the hard organic thing, and it disappeared since it wasn't touching the slime anymore. But the slime also felt the inorganic start going up, and the wet was less on the bottom, and it felt more of the air. It also... it felt its legs. They were done.

@Crell: The slime started losing its grip as the creature thrashed around more, and it felt itself stop being able to control some of its body, and it started getting worse as it spread. The creature, after a little while, finally forced the slime to let go and it escaped. But the slime had part of the creature torn off, small pieces only really, but they were sinking in the wet along with the slime that couldn't move.

@Aster: (unlocked: coconut, mountain lion skeleton, mountain lion fur) Loud only looked at the slime, and looked... pleased? It took a bite after the two other interested slimes got some, and its own bite took a lot of the creature, but it was so much bigger that it didn't look like it could help it! There was a sound in the distance, but the slime didn't know what it was. It had heard it before somewhere, though...

@Avisk: (unlocked: mountain lion paws, mountain lion claws, mountain lion teeth, whiskers) The three slimes tore into and consumed the remains of the creature the... much better shaking slime had found for them. It looked into the distance, but the slime didn't see what it was seeing. It did hear a faint sound, though. The sound was familiar... but the slime wasn't sure where it heard it before. It also saw something for a moment in the up- the puffy was mostly cleared from above, and it saw something shiny for a moment, but it was way too far away and small to be identified.

OOC: Viirin, just for future reference, have I unlocked the coconut palm tree as well as the coconut? Also, what color were the thistle flowers that Aster unlocked earlier?

Aster wasn't really that upset that Loud was eating from the dead animal it had brought over. It was the one that had found the food, and anyway it was so much bigger than the other slimes that if it decided it wanted something, there was nothing any of them could do about it at this point. It was enough that Loud was letting them eat along with them. Although . . . where was Big? Did it not want this food? Aster shrugged the question of its third companion's location off. If Big didn't want to eat this for whatever reason, there was plenty of other food around for it to eat. Right now the slime wanted to concentrate on eating as much of this food as it could before Loud, by virtue of its great size, got it all. Focusing on the parts of the dead organic that neither Loud nor Small had gotten to Aster took several more bites in quick succession, slightly smaller this time as this part of the dead organic didn't have as much meat on it.

It was then that Aster heard the noise. It sounded familiar, but . . . no, it wasn't Loud or Small, and the slime didn't think it was Big either. That meant it probably wasn't a slime, but then . . . what was it? It didn't help that Aster couldn't see what was causing it. Confused, the slime craned its neck around, looking for the source.

These creatures seemed to be numerous. As long as the Slime was there it might as well absorb them too.The slime rolled around absorbing them. There seemed to be a trail of them leading somewhere. The Slime followed it until it hit a wall of inorganic. These creatures seemed to be disappearing into this wall. Strange.
