The Ruthless Lineage

I figured out how to get a 3rd gen dragon, evidenced by the lineage viewer in my above post. However, after 3rd gen I'm really confused ~ What do we do?

I have one guess, which is that we're trying to add one more occurrence of our starting male with each generation. So, we breed two 2-gens with the dragon and those together, then a 3-gen with our starting male in it just once and breed that with our 3-gen, then a 4-gen with the male appearing once, and so on and so on. Is that about right?

Glad to see everyone's having more luck with their dragons than I am! I'll try to finish up my thirdgens soon guys but until then *prods her dragons* Let me walk you through fourth gens!

There are a few ways to do this, and we'll start with the simplist first.

1. Follow the same model as the 2nd gens. This means that the third female to each male will be unrelated to your lineage, and probably not inbred. This will slow down the inbreeding coefficant some.

2. Trade! Find a partner and swap eggs from your dragons once you've bred the half-sisters to their half brothers. This will keep your inbreeding coefficant similar since you'll be adding an unrelated inbred dragon.

3. Use a branch family. You'll take a dragon from the same founding pair of the son (based on his fathers line) and the branch ruthless member and breed a mate for the dragon you're trying for.

Note: Tradeing could also mean trading between two ruthless families on your scroll (if you have more than one). Just avoid trading more than once between families.

If you look the first dragon is a 4th gen. Your first fourth gens should look like that, with each third gen male getting his half-sisters to breed with.

As for the third mate for the male, that's where the options from my previous post come from.

Okay, so the dragon's grandfather should always be the same dragon on each side, but the grandmothers will be different.

So the first grandmother will have the same father as the grandfather, or be CB if it is 3-gen. The second grandmother can either be unrelated (and even-gen to the same gen as the others, obviously) or have the same father as the other three dragons but a totally unrelated mother.

I would make a lineage map, but I can't art... Hang on, I can probably do something in a spreadsheet. I'll get back with a thing.
