Print all lineages in scroll save to pc-PC Version

Recommended Posts

Now you can get a web page showing all your dragon lineages at once, which you can bookmark, print, use to make snapshots of your tinsels lineages, etc...

This is a "reboot" of the page I had on my old site that users loved

http://forums.dragcave.net/index.php?showtopic=151074

Download link on second post

Enter dragon codes, separated by commas, wait a minute or two and voila: All the dragons on your code list will be on a web page that you can bookmark and view offline.

A lot of care was taken to make this tool use DC the less burdensome way possible, it basically uses just the same resources a user would use to "generate" the web page and after it's generated it runs locally on your PC offline with no ill-some effects to DC.

* Main program (Flappy Dragon release 64 bit) - Has lineage viewer , utilities and a lil easter egg for ya tongue.gif

http://www.mediafire.com/download/4bm61az5...view_flappy.rar

* Main program (Flappy Dragon release 32 bit) - same as above but for 32 bit Windows

http://www.mediafire.com/download/pjcj8lci...ew_flappy32.rar

Patches

* Small patch for the "Flappy Dragon" releases above, it adds s silver male dragon to the "Flappy Dragon" page, also known as lineage visualizer

http://www.mediafire.com/download/c5y3qcuk...9p/flappy11.rar

Tested on:

  • Windows 7
  • Windows 8
  • Windows 8.1
Instructions

How to use it

. A) Installing

. Unpack the rar file to a clean directory

.

. B ) Creating Lineage lists to print

. b1- Double click or run readlines.exe

. b2- Enter title for your list

. The title will be used to name your html file and is printed on top

. of the generated page

. b3- Enter a list of dragon codes separated by commas

. You can enter up to 500 codes, here are some you can use:

. eCnEc,5iYN,wblZI,blZI,8Tnmx,BN0xA,YoIE5,KagGw,KagG,kAKJU

Pasting a list of codes is possible

user posted image

. b4- Double click on the file with name ending on "_lines.html"

. This is the lineage list for the codes you gave, with the

. name / title you chose.

. b5- Printing / Viewing the same lineage list again

. Just bookmark it on your browser. It will work offline and

. will not burden the DC site

.

. C) Dealing with the breeds table

. b1- Why do we need a breeds table ?

. Because of the way TJ shows adult dragon images, there is a

. need to "swap" TJ's temporary image links with more permanent

. images. This is what allows you to view lists offline and also

. makes sure viewing and printing your breeds list does not

. burden the DC site

. b2- What is it ? The badbreedslist.html web page

. When you generate a list, two web pages are created: your list

. and badbreedslist.html.

. b3- Do I need to bother with it ?

. As of right now it works well with all the 200+ breeds currently

. on DC. But when new breeds are added you will get high errors

. (like 9999). You will also get high errors on cracking eggs

. Images with errors above 30 won't show on your lineage page

.

. D) How to add new breeds and keep errors to a minimum

. b1- Do I need to fix every error ? Nope

. The most common errors are low (below 30) and usually happen

. when the local image of the dragon is a "GIF" file and the

. DC original is a PNG. Those errors can be ignored and the

. images on your lineage page will still show breeds correctly.

. b2- How to fix errors ? Easy!!!

. On the badbreedslist.html web page right click on the LEFT

. image of the line with the error, then choose "save image as".

. Save it to the folder "dragon/all/" under the folder you have

. this tool. Generate the list again and the error will be gone.

. b3- How to add new breeds ? See above!

. A new breed will need to have the new image saved to the folder

. for dragon images. Just like on the "b2" step: Save it to the

. folder "dragon/all/" under the folder you have this tool

. b4- Can I save more than one copy of the breed image ?

. Sure, save as many as you like but you will make the generate

. step slower if you add too many identical images. But if you

. are OCD like me, save both a PNG and a GIF copy of each image

. and you errors will always be below 1

. b5- Does having too many breed images burden the DC site ? Nope!

. The readlines.exe program reads each lineage image from

. the DC site only once and never locks it. All the matching

. to local images is done in memory. If you add too many images

. to your breeds table all that is going to happen is that the

. program will run slower on your PC. It will not affect the DC

. site in any way

.

. Support ?

. I'm Renmiri on the DC forums and IRC and you can email me from the

. forum link. Pleaso no forum PMs my imbox is usually full! rolleyes.gif

How to take "ssbblego" (my son's scroll) out of your web page titles

All your web lists have your scroll name smile.gif

I made a new quick program to change "ssbblego" to your scroll name, in case you want it

* Utilities (change scroll owner, list all the lineage pages you generated)

(see 2nd post for download link)

You can also just edit the file where the scroll name is kept

Breed table errors:

All errors can be fixed by saving the missing or updated image files to the /dragon/all/ folder under the tool folder

Old images

I have had this program for a long time and some of my dragon pictures are quite old. Apparently there was a mass move away from GIF images to PNG images after I first collected most of the breed pictures. The conversion from PNG to GIF tends to add a small error to the image matching module.

Cracking eggs

I also never bothered to collect all cracking stages of each egg. Let's face it, lineages are 99.99% composed of adult dragons, only the "title dragon" could be an egg. With those odds I opted to not add 5 images per egg to the whole program, which would slow it down.

New breeds

New breeds aren't on the dragons image folder but can be easily added

New / altered sprites

I any sprite gets altered from now on, you will get a small error instead of a perfect match.

Yea, now I'm working on the scroll listing one, which is a lot harder to make an EXE out of. But the list one should get everyone full of lineages to gaze at, for a while biggrin.gif

New Utilities

Change that annoying "ssbblego" (my son's scroll) to your scroll name

List all the lineage reports you made on a convenient place (this way you only need 1 bookmark biggrin.gif)

* Utilities (change scroll owner, list all the lineage pages you generated)

http://www.mediafire.com/download/p0nz8y22...x0/distutil.rar

Bookmark "listfiles.html" and run the listreports.exe utility after you generate a new lineage list, it will put it all on one spot

Flappy Dragon Release

No, not really, but there is an "easter egg": A little game almost as impossible to get good at as flappy bird wink.gif

If you have the patience of a saint, you can try to build impossible stair lineages. I have the even gen version "cooking" here in development and will release it if people like the lil easter egg tongue.gif

It uses only your PC and can be played offline. It will not make the DC site laggy, or harm it in any way smile.gif

Get this plus my lineage viewer and the new utilities above all in one smile.gif

I can't get it to run on a 32-bit Windows 7 machine... I get a pop-up system error:

"The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running. Check your computer's system information to see whether you need an x86 (32-bit) or x64 (64-bit) version of the program, and then contact the software publisher."

Is the executable only compiled for a 64-bit OS?

Not sure if you will have fun or want to shoot me - darn thing is finicky as hell - but here's more "flappy dragon" stuff.

If you have tried the "stair lineage visualizer" AKA "flappy dragon" you would know it was missing a male silver sprite. Added that and an empty tile to see if it gets easier to make some stair lineage mockups here.

For right now it is possible - but very frustrating, hence the name inspired in the famous frustrating game - to see a stair lineage made of cb dragons that can not be obtained as caveborn on DC. But we can always dream, right ? A stair of male hellfire dragons and female Goldfish dragons would look awesome, don't you think ?

If I ever get this to work a little better, I'l add an even gen visualizer and maybe a blank page with some breeds, liltree and hatchies added, would be fun for roleplay to be able to put view and screencap dragons and their hatchies having a picnic under a lil tree, no ?

New update coming: You will be able to get the codes from your scroll sorted by breed, so you can paste it to the lineage viewer. You will also be able to see your entire scroll on one page, even when offline or with DC down

I'm posting the link soon, just have to test it on all pcs around here
