Posted November 11, 2013 Welcome, dragonpuck! ( I can tell I am going to need more egg slots ) Oh yes... me too! Dustpuppy, this could be as addictive as Z-codes! I know, right? At first I only planned one line, then four, now I'm getting closer to finishing my 5th and 6th and you're all giving me so many ideas for other combinations... Share this post Link to post
Posted November 11, 2013 Are we supposed to post a new reply when we update our posts? Just asking because the others seem to do it but I don't haha. And it IS addicting! I started to take interest in breeding overall about 1 month ago and it has been so much fun - I didn't understand but now I understand why people create pretty lineages. I really think I will continue the Brimstone x Mint checker, the colors are awesome! For me this project is also good because I "have" to catch the rest of the commons which I need for my scroll. You tend to forget about the lovely commons out there because you want to get rares. Share this post Link to post
Posted November 12, 2013 (edited) Commons are lovely! Forum name: Daba555 Scroll link: http://dragcave.net/user/olddragongal Can people PM you and request eggs? yes! If yes, any requirements? I don't really want to influence and hatch eggs, not enough patience and egg slots The dragon I gift should be named. No nasty stuff, please, like freezing-biting-killing-abandoning. Although,I can't imagine anyone breeding a lineage to actually do that stuff My lineage plans: Blacktip - Crimson plus Speckle-throated - Blacktip Ta-Daaa!: http://dragcave.net/lineage/88UUi working on a mirror-mate. 4/16 - got the final egg, so if all goes well, will be happy dancing I did have to solicit help, though. Horse - Sunrise plus Tsunami - Horse Finish! 7/7/14 http://dragcave.net/lineage/6ba57 Yes, adding 11/12: Blacktip - Waverunner plus Deep-Sea - Blacktip NOTE: after 8 months, I get nothing but Black Tips so I will probably give this one up. Swallowtail - Moonstone plus Daydream - Swallowtail (if the colors look right) DONE!!!: http://dragcave.net/lineage/zVhjx Adding 11/16: Serragama - White plus Terrae - Serragama (I now see that whites are not listed as commons, but I always have thought they were I think they're common, still, and I'm using them. So there.) And Done! http://dragcave.net/lineage/NEmrN Adding 2/5: Gray - Royal Blue plus Nocturne - Gray Finished : http://dragcave.net/lineage/dvdwt Stone - Nocturne plus Royal Blue- Stone - Progress! 3/6/14. and no progress since, can't get that 3rd gen stone for the top 9/10 - still no 3rd gen stone!!! Veddy annoying. But finally finished 11/3: http://dragcave.net/lineage/7oDww FINISHED!!! 8/29/14: Pillow x Red Nebula plus Royal Crimson x Pillow https://dragcave.net/lineage/utXyJ Ember - Red Nebula plus Hellfire - Ember Finished! http://dragcave.net/lineage/WfvXe finished: Fever - Fleshcrowne plus Teimarr - Fever https://dragcave.net/lineage/yKx2N Very Bright project: Also adding: Brimstone - Tanger plus BBW - Brimstone. No idea why or where that came from, it was going to be Ember But a pretty finish after all: http://dragcave.net/lineage/GyosB At last, this is finished!!! Fever - Harvest plus Electric - Fever https://dragcave.net/lineage/NQSYg Nilia - Flare plus Pygmy - Nilia Ta-Daaaa! http://dragcave.net/lineage/r3zj9 Pygmy - Flare plus Nilia - Pygmy (yep, same breeds as above, but different order) Yay! http://dragcave.net/lineage/87rjf Crimson-Deep Sea plus Royal Blue-Crimson - a nice problem-free finish http://dragcave.net/lineage/uHq7s Brute/Black Tea plus Flamingo/Brute - and I did get that flamingo, and here's the finish: https://dragcave.net/lineage/iRfgA Singing the Blues project: Deep Sea-Moonstone plus Waverunner-Deep Sea - finished! http://dragcave.net/lineage/SSIii Mystery project: Yellow Crown-Lumina plus __________-Yellow Crown: Top: http://dragcave.net/lineage/cc6mZ Not sure what to do with it, but I'm gathering some YC's while I figure it out. Cool Blues: RW-Frostbite plus Blue-Banded-RW Poisonous: Cassare-Brimstone plus Turpentine-Cassare There will be more I love many commons, and my favorites change depending on what I'm doing. But I have to say, Black Tips go with so very many other dragons! Edited March 10, 2015 by daba555 Share this post Link to post
Posted November 12, 2013 Welcome, Daba555! Most of your breeds are uncommon, but why not, it'll just be a lovely uncommon. Are we supposed to post a new reply when we update our posts? Just asking because the others seem to do it but I don't haha. Well, it's very useful to put your new eggs etc. in one post which you keep updated by editing, so you can easily find it and work on your lineage. But any talk about your lineage goes in a new post, that way your "breeding" post won't be cluttered, the thread won't be wiped due to inactivity and people can see what you're currently doing and watch your lineage grow. If or how much you post is completely up to you of course. I'm glad it works just as intended. I already catch commons, but I never breed them because I think I have to breed rares for gifting/trading... but commons have such pretty sprites, it's a shame not to use them. Posted November 12, 2013 (edited) Welcome, Daba555! Most of your breeds are uncommon, but why not, it'll just be a lovely uncommon. uncommon? I thought they were common, I have no trouble finding them, they're all the time in the caves and AP. I was using the Breed Tree at Wiki, too: http://dragontreeswikidotcom/breed-guide is that not the right place? I was trying to think of a third dragon to go with the Blacktip and Waverunner, I love that combo. Maybe Deep Sea Now, those are definitely common, right? They all act like blockers in the caves, all the time... Edit: rulez confuse me. Am I supposed to put links to my dragons? thank you Edited November 12, 2013 by daba555 Share this post Link to post
Posted November 12, 2013 I tried to breed 9 and 12 but the parents produced the wrong breed... Anyone want them? Well yeah, PM me. Share this post Link to post
Posted November 12, 2013 I was using the Breed Tree at Wiki, too: http://dragontreeswikidotcom/breed-guide is that not the right place? I find this a better and more accurate place: http://dragcave.wikia.com/wiki/Dragon_Types Just click on the dragons and it says what rarity they are exactly. Share this post Link to post
Posted November 12, 2013 (edited) Is it OK to use a 2nd gen from a different source not our own scroll? I lied I already have another project . I already have a 3rd gen turp x brimstone but one 2nd gen pair is not my own which is why I am asking Turp x brimstone Harvest x turp Edited November 12, 2013 by dragonpuck Share this post Link to post

Posted November 12, 2013 (edited) I find this a better and more accurate place: http://dragcave.wikia.com/wiki/Dragon_Types Just click on the dragons and it says what rarity they are exactly. Thanks I'll bookmark this one. edit: well, it may be technically more accurate, being copyrighted by TJ, but I see a lot of sunrise/sunset eggs fly by, and I consider them common. you can pretty much get as many as you want, and I often find them in the AP, as CB eggs. as long as it's allowed, I'm going to still use them. now, it's not like they're gold/silver/copper, right? and good gosh, how can something like a black-capped teimarr be uncommon? last night I saw 8-10 in a 10-minutes time period, and they're always in the cave when I go in. Same with blacktips! and black tea! my friend collects black teas, and yet she'll tell me she's passed up a bunch, there are so many dropping when she's already got a few. I guess my definition of "common" is not the same as Wiki, is what it is AND I just saw that pygmy dragons are in both common and uncommon - what isthat about? I think they just compare the ultra commons with the other commons. Share this post Link to post
Posted November 12, 2013 Welcome, AsiraBettas! uncommon? I thought they were common, I have no trouble finding them, they're all the time in the caves and AP. I was using the Breed Tree at Wiki, too: http://dragontreeswikidotcom/breed-guide The link doesn't work for me. I use the DC Wiki like AsiraBettas myself, and I try to stick only to the commons there, but lots of uncommons breed like commons, so they kind of fit right in here too. And how common a dragon is also changes with time anyway. So it's more a guideline than a 100% strict rule. As long as they act common... Edit: rulez confuse me. Am I supposed to put links to my dragons? You don't have to, it's just easier for you to find them when you want to breed them. Is it OK to use a 2nd gen from a different source not our own scroll? Of course! Nothing wrong with that. Share this post Link to post
Posted November 12, 2013 So it's more a guideline than a 100% strict rule. As long as they act common... ahhhhh, this is the rule I'll go by, it'll make life so much easier! I am separating these on my scroll with frozen hatchlings between them and other lineages, because I was getting confused. I will post links when I get something decent to look at Deb Share this post Link to post
Posted November 12, 2013 EDIT: Have bred 2 eggs, but also have had a refusal Sorry, that's not really all that funny, but I loled. Dragons do their own thing. It's a hilarious headache. I have a few lineages with Halloween dragons and that's all they do is refuse. Here I thought commons would be better behaved Better luck next pair! I already catch commons, but I never breed them because I think I have to breed rares for gifting/trading This is so valid to how I feel it's not even funny. Yes, there is a huuuge push, it seems, to only gift rares or uncommons and the idea is projected that those breeds are the only thing people want. I prefer not to spend years trying to breed up a match for a single dragon because the rares being used decide to be picky. and good gosh, how can something like a black-capped teimarr be uncommon? last night I saw 8-10 in a 10-minutes time period, and they're always in the cave when I go in. You have got to be kidding me. I can never find the darn things. Is it OK to use a 2nd gen from a different source not our own scroll?Of course! Nothing wrong with that. Oh good, the AP had some pretty ones that seemed too nice to pass up. Did a little updating on my post . . . waiting for a pair to mature if 5 hours or so . . . waiting for egg spaces to clear up. . . waiting. Also compiling a shopping list! Seen about a half dozen lineage ideas that I want eggs from, and thankfully all the breeders of those accept requests. *stalks thread* Share this post Link to post
Posted November 12, 2013 (edited) I edited the first post for clarification. Is that better? In case of doubt, check the DC Wiki [...] or use your own judgement. Commonness fluctuates, so the Wiki is helpful for breeds you're unsure about or if you want to stick to "official" commons. Here I thought commons would be better behaved Better behaved? Ha! Look at my Pebble and Dorsal lineage: the first thing the Pebbles gave me was a Geode and the first Dorsal came out red... Edited November 12, 2013 by dustpuppy Share this post Link to post
Posted November 12, 2013 Draketeeth, it is funny, really, sometimes I swear that they can read my mind just so they can go the other way! If you want Teimarr's, if I have room I can grab what I see for yo - no kidding, they are always there. but then, you want them and I have enough, so that's the thing I made myself a really pretty lineage plan, using saved images, and then realized - it was only 2 breeds! Geez. I'm still going to use it, though, I'll update my first post. I added a third breed for this project. I just hope the colors are good, because I used the images from the sort screen, and the background is black. I do not, as you can tell, know how to do a lot of things here Share this post Link to post
Posted November 12, 2013 (edited) Here I thought commons would be better behavedBetter behaved? Ha! Look at my Pebble and Dorsal lineage: the first thing the Pebbles gave me was a Geode and the first Dorsal came out red The irony of this is not lost today. Went to go breed purple ridgewing for eggs of the same color (after posting and reading replies here), and lo and behold, first egg of the breeding is tan. Those scoundrels conspired with your greens and the dorsals. daba555, that's really sweet of you to offer. However, I took hope in your words that maybe they were indeed hiding out there just out of sight, so when some of my eggs hatched earlier I went on the hunt. After grabbing a blocker and a misclick, two vampire bites to clear scroll space (score, one rejected!), and a little luck, I'm settled with a fresh caught pair of caps. /phew Now I just have to work up the desire to raise a few more waverunners for a beachcomber lineage pattern. Since we can fudge uncommons in now and again here Cheers! Edited November 12, 2013 by Draketeeth Share this post Link to post

Since we can fudge uncommons in now and again here Cheers![/color] that's great! I have seen them all afternoon, and thought of you I got a lot of waverunners from the AP, which does save time as far as hatching. I wish there was a BSA to make them grow up faster, LOL, but I can see the logic in the incubate, and none in the maturity thing. Dustpuppy, can we cheat and use some pairs we already have? I'd been rather enamoured of harvest/terrae, and would love a good reason to continue that Share this post Link to post
Posted November 12, 2013 I'm up to 3rd-gen now, yay! Up to now there were no problems, they all gave me the eggs I needed on the first try. I really should hoard Mints, they are so cute! Share this post Link to post

I really should hoard Mints, they are so cute! congrats! I love mint babies, LOL. I've never done much with them, because I never really noticed that they look the same size as other dragons when in the little boxes. they really are cute can anyone use this? blacktip egg from blacktip dad, crimson mom. I needed a crimson. yes, they'll all be named. http://dragcave.net/lineage/qfEL8 Edited November 13, 2013 by daba555 Share this post Link to post

Posted November 13, 2013 Dustpuppy, can we cheat and use some pairs we already have? Sure, I wouldn't even consider it cheating, if it fits the lineage it's an eligible dragon. Mondat congrats on the 3rd gen, Mint and Sunstone look really nice together! I've been thinking about doing another Electric lineage with Sunstones, but I can't decide about a 3rd breed... Moonstone maybe? I'm not sure. Electrics are so great but difficult to find good combinations for. Share this post Link to post

I needed a crimson. yes, they'll all be named. http://dragcave.net/lineage/qfEL8 I'll keep it another couple of hours, then send to the AP. I just want to free up the space, and hope I don't need it later (in case of refusal). I'm pretty sure I'll be able to breed another one if necessary Dustpuppy, I'm so glad you said I could use existing lineages - I had a couple of Prism Projects gender backwards and I believe I might be able to sue them here. EDIT: well, maybe not the backwards ones since they all started with male albinos, but for the top part I certainly have lots of 3rd gens! Also, are you the one who did the electric/harvest lineage? if not, try harvest - it's a fabulous combination! You wouldn't think so, but I've seen it on the even-gen thread and fell in love. In fact, I now have lots more electrics and harvests, because of it Edited November 13, 2013 by daba555 Share this post Link to post

In fact, I now have lots more electrics and harvests, because of it Hmm, I think I like it, especially female Harvest with male Electric. In fact, that gives me an idea for a lineage with Harvest as the "base" (breed that appears on both sides), with Brimstones and Imps... I have to stop making so many plans! Thanks for the idea!
