Hopefully the weather holds. ------------------------------------------------- My choices for the 5 new cities 1. Poland: Krakow. It's the former capital of Poland, and the royal castle of the former Polish kingdom is situated here. (I've been in that castle, btw.) Also has a yearly event called March of the Living where students from all over the world walk from Auschwitz to Birkenau, in memory of the holocaust victims. ...I took part in that march with my history class back in 2006. 2. Italy: Venice. Because the Carnival of Venice is one of the biggest things to happen in Italy. (And now I want to write mystery fiction about the carnival. Oh lordy.) 3. Denmark: Torshavn. It isn't really that big a tourist spot, but the historical value is still there. The Faroese people are Scandinavian, even though the islands are really close to Scotland. It's weird. 8D 4. Turkey: Istanbul. Used to be Constantinople, the capital of the Byzantine Empire. (The original Greek city, Byzantium, had been there for centuries before the Romans got there. Basically, the area in and around Istanbul has been a city for nearly 2700 years. One of the oldest cities in the world?) 5. Switzerland: Zürich. The world's most famous private banks?
