Posted August 14, 2013 Echopaw Nodding back at Oddstep Echopaw quietly crept around behind the mouse and, lowering herself into a crouch, she glided over the ground. When she got close Echopaw pounced just barely hooking the tail of the creature and flinging it off her claw as she stumbled off balance. Leaping up again Echopaw say that her clumsy kill had been nonetheless successful, the mouse had been slammed against a rock, breaking its skull. "Yay!" Echopaw exclaimed bounding over to the dead mouse, "What should I do with it?" she asked looking over her shoulder at Oddstep. Share this post Link to post
Posted August 14, 2013 Leafshade Leafshade watched with troubled eyes as a dismayed Cloverpaw crouched down to pick up her share of marigold stalks. She desperately wondered what was going on in her apprentice's head. She nodded fervently when Cloverpaw had finished. "Right, let's go." She took the lead as they picked their way through the dense undergrowth. They certainly wouldn't find any feverfew in this part of the forest, it'd be closer to the RiverClan border, near water. "Remember," Leafshade mewed gently as they reached the gurgling stream. "Feverfew looks like a small bush with white flowers resembling daisies." Share this post Link to post
Posted August 14, 2013 "We bring it back." Oddstep said with a shrug. "If we don't, the elders will eat us alive. Not an awful kill though. You're learning. We'll collect some things to fix the nursery first though." She patted her apprentice's head with one huge paw, then turned and moved back towards their home. Share this post Link to post
Posted August 14, 2013 Echopaw - WindClan "Ok!" Echopaw said picking up the mouse and scampering after the mentor, "What do we need?" Echopaw asked thinking of the broken down den. "Moss?" she asked remembering some of the apprentices from ThunderClan had been wondering if there would be moss close to their camp. "Oakpaw says that's what you make comfortable nests out of." Posted August 14, 2013 Wolfspirit~Thunderclan Sitting down, and panting heavier than she would have liked, the queen surveyed her work. She had taken down two of the walls, and was slightly annoyed that she already felt puffed out. "Come on girl! You can do a bit more!" With a groan, she pushed herself to her paws and began dragging the useless bracken towards the gorse-tunnel. Halfway there, she had to stop, it was just taking to much energy. Then a quick gasp escaped her mouth when she felt a small stab of pain in her side. Rolling onto her back, she examined the place where it had hurt. Strange, there were no thorns or- there it was again! This time, she saw what caused it too. One of her kits kicked! For the first time! A thrill of excitement ran through her, making her forget her exhaustion for a moment. She was going to have kits! Granted, they were still over a moon away, as Leafshade had told her the last time she'd asked, but she couldn't help but feel excited. So as she caught her breath, the queen lay on her side, the bracken beside her, as she daydreamed abot what her kits would look like. Ironically, the daydreaming soon became dreaming as she actualy fell asleep again, in the middle of the clearing. Afterwards, she'd probably blame the bright sunshine for making her drowsy. Either way, she was now in a position where any cat coming out of their dens or the gorse-tunnel would recieve an unpleasant shock, to say the least. Share this post Link to post
Posted August 14, 2013 ((There's no shadow clan medicine cat charrie, I'm just going to say there's one.))) Silverpaw Silverpaw told her mentor about her trip and went to hunt some more. Her mentor was busy, so she had some time. She walked over to a tree and stalked a mouse. Share this post Link to post
Posted August 15, 2013 ((Hooray I'm finally on!)) Honeypaw "Uhhh...." Honeypaw sighed as Juniperpaw walked over. As Honeypaw opened her eyes, she realized that she was way late for training. Hopping to her feet, Honeypaw nearly ran over Juniperpaw as she raced to ask Redclaw what her assignment was for the day. Share this post Link to post
Posted August 15, 2013 ((Giving up on the // thing. Also hint hint, for when he says the no one's sick.)) [Juniperpaw-Windclan "Well she's ok." He said to himself. No one's sick, so nothing to do. Even though being sick is a bad thing, I'm still bored. Juniperpaw thought. Share this post Link to post
Posted August 15, 2013 Oakpaw~Thunderclan Oakpaw cowered in shame as his mentor scolded him. Then walked along with him not really paying attention to anything until Sootclaw looked at him with worried eyes. This didn't make Oakpaw feel any better. Suddenly the bump on Oakpaw's head started throbbing. Oakpaw pawed at it and kept moving along with his head down. Cloverpaw~Thunderclan Cloverpaw carefully listened to Leafshade. "Like that?" Cloverpaw flicked her whiskers to a bush with white flowers like daisies. "That looks like what you described." Cloverpaw padded toward it while sucking in it's scent. Share this post Link to post
Posted August 15, 2013 Thunderclan ~ Sootclaw "Stop." Sootclaw ordered. "Ok, what can you smell?" The shadowclan border lay a few footsteps ahead, and Sootclaw sniffed the air carefully. He could smell a few traces of prey, but was unwilling to hunt so close to the border in case it caused a confrontation. The clan could not afford any hostility at the moment, with the limited warriors. Share this post Link to post
Posted August 16, 2013 (edited) Oakpaw~Thunderclan "Shadowclan." Oakpaw said sarcastically and gloomy without taking a sniff. He raised his nose to the air, this time sniffing, and responded to Sootclaw. "Faint traces of prey." Oakpaw answered. He already knew he shouldn't hunt near the border with all this commotion with the other clans. "Should we renew the scent markers?" Oakpaw asked. Featherfoot~Riverclan "Hey Distantpaw!", Featherfoot said, "Are you doing good?" Unlike most cats Featherfoot really liked Distantpaw. Not expecting him to answer Featherfoot walked off toward the fresh kill pile. He pawed at it and frowned. "Hunting it is then!" Featherfoot said to himself. "Or should I rebuild the dens?" He said as he stopped in his path. Edited August 16, 2013 by catlover232 Share this post Link to post
Posted August 16, 2013 Yarrow, catmint, borage, chervil, comfrey root. I wonder if we have anymore horsetail left. Honeyfern checked where she usually put the horsetail and found that there wasn't any there. She walked out of her den and found Juniperpaw doing literally nothing. "Juniperpaw! I need you to go and fetch me some horsetail. We're running quite low." Share this post Link to post
Posted August 16, 2013 (edited) Leafshade Leafshade followed her apprentice across a stretch of pebbles, careful not to get her paws wet as the river lapped at the banks. She skirted the distance quickly, craning her neck to see what Cloverpaw was indicating to. "Yes, perfect!" She let out a purr of satisfaction, hoping her praise would cheer Cloverpaw up. "This is a nice amount. There's probably more farther down the river; we'll never run out of feverfew." Leafshade nodded with approval, crouching down to nip off some stalks of the strong-scented herbs. Owlstar will be pleased when I tell him that there are plenty of herbs for us to use, she thought as she straightened up. I wonder what he will announce at the Gathering tomorrow night? Posted August 16, 2013 Mousefur~Riverclan Mousefur paddled toards the shore, throwing yet another large fish on the pile she'd made on the bank. Four large fish, plump and lazily swimming round in circles. It was clear the fish here hadn't known cats as their predators for a very long time. That was good, it meant that not many, if any at all, of the rogues and loners in this area knew how to fish. Getting out of the water, she shook herself, water sraying in every direction. "Now, how will I get all these back to camp? I'm not sure I could manage two, let alone four! I guess I'll have to bury them. Oh well." Eyeing her catch thoughtfully, she dragged the two heaviest down the bank a bit, then started scooping up pebbles, pawful by pawful, to dig a hole deep enough for both of them. It was hard work, but she managed. After she finished, she pushed the two in then covered them, then flopped on her back as she panted, catching her breath. Getting up after a few minutes, she picked up the smaller two she'd left out and staggered towards camp. Reaching the entrance, she pushed her way through before dropping it just inside the clearing. "Hey, Feathertail! Mind giving me a paw? As well as these two, I've got two more down the river a bit." Share this post Link to post
Posted August 17, 2013 ((Mind if Ravenstar jumps in right here?)) Ravenstar Ravenstar dozed with her eyes half open, basking in the warmth of the sun. If only life were this easy... The RiverClan leader sighed wistfully, screwing up her eyes as a bright ray of sun shone in her eyes. She heaved herself to her paws with a soft grunt, shaking out her long, dark pelt. Pricking her ears as someone entered the camp, her keen gaze landed on the two plump, silver-scaled fish that Mousefur was dragging over. Ravenstar licked her lips, her eyes shining as she praised the younger warrior. "Great catch, Mousefur! RiverClan is lucky to have you." She twitched her whiskers, feeling pleased and light-hearted for what seemed like the first time since they had left the Lake Territories. "I'll help, if you need it." Ravenstar dipped her slender head, crouching down to take one of Mousefur's fish to the fresh-kill pile. "Tell me, Mousefur," she began, mumbling around her mouthful of prey. "What do you think of our new territory?" She tipped her head to one side after she had dropped the fish, curious to know the warrior's answer. Share this post Link to post
Posted August 17, 2013 Mousefur "Well, I'm still finding my way around, and we don't know whether the river freezes in leaf-bare or not. The old stories suggest that it does, so we need to find a good food source that isn't the river, and I'm no good at that, so it would be better if someone else searched for that." she answered, after placing the fish on the pile. Turning around, she gestured with her tail to follow as she walked out of the clearing. "However, at the moment, and until winter, we should be fine as far as fresh-kill goes. The fish here have lived for generations without being hunted, and are fat and lazy. They're easy prey. For now, we're probably the luckiest clan out of all of them. I'm concerned about leaf-bare, though. Our warriors are used to hunting fish, and if the river does freeze, we'll struggle to make it through. Hopefully we'll survive with the few skills we learnt over the Journey." Share this post Link to post
Posted August 17, 2013 Flametail walked through the forest by himself. Everything seemed so quiet. He caught the scent of a rabbit and quickly went into a crouch. Stalking up on it he pounced at the last second and snapped it's neck with a swift bite. He also caught a small sparrow and a squirrel. He went back to the camp with a full mouth and set the squirrel and the sparrow on the fresh kill pile keeping the rabbit for himself. Share this post Link to post
Posted August 17, 2013 (edited) Splashpool The medicine cat say her apprentice run off, but she soon came back, so Splashpool didn't say anything. She continued on into camp, and ran into her den, beckoning for Cloudpaw to come in and put the marigold leaves somewhere. We should have found more. She thought, but oh well. They could ask the other medicine cats at the moonstone, if the others had gotten more herbs then them. Edited August 17, 2013 by girlfairy76 Share this post Link to post
Posted August 17, 2013 Flametail saw Leafshade and Cloudpaw enter the camp. He padded over towards them and said, " Hello ou two. Have any of you seen Sootclaw? I need to speak to him about his apprentice." Share this post Link to post
Posted August 17, 2013 "Naturally." Sootclaw mewed, looking around the area. "I wonder how they are coping..." Shaking his head slightly, Sootclaw brushed off yet another wave of doubts. Oh Starclan, please say this was the right thing to do. "I'll finish of the border patrol. You go back and collect the prey, with some moss as well. No thorns remember." Trusting his apprentice in unfamiliar terrain was not something he felt comfortable with, but he also knew there would be hungry cats back at camp, who needed what little prey they had managed to salvage. And he doubted some of the dens could survive a heavy rainfall, let alone the precious herbs they had. "Hurry then." And with that, Sootclaw stalked away. Share this post Link to post
Posted August 17, 2013 (edited) Ravenstar ~ RiverClan Ravenstar padded after Mousefur, ducking under the fern fronds that concealed the entrance to the camp. "You're definitely right about the fish," she murmured in agreement, remembering her catch in the morning with Rapidwaters. The RiverClan leader remained silent for a few heartbeats, then continued. "Well, the lake and streams in our old territory froze, and we coped with it. We can learn how to stalk land prey. We'll make it through..." She had seen cats from the other clans hunting during the Journey. Surely they would be able to pick some of it up. If not, than leaf-bare will be the same as ever. Cold, hungry, tired... Ravenstar shook her head, brushing away her troubling throughts with a brisk lash of her dark, plumed tail. Enjoy green-leaf while you can, mouse-brain! she scolded herself silently. Leafshade ~ ThunderClan Leafshade waited until Cloverpaw had picked her share of the feverfew leaves. She couldn't speak, because she had a large bundle of marigold and feverfew stalks in her mouth. Instead, the ThunderClan medicine cat flicked her tail in the direction of the camp, indicating that they should head back home. Once they had reached the camp, Leafshade set her mouthful of herbs down at her paws as Flametail bounded up to them. "Hello, Flametail," she greeted the deputy politely, dipping her head. "Sootclaw? No, we haven't seen him. He's probably not close to the RiverClan border, we were just there collecting marigold and feverfew." Her whiskers twitched in pleasure as she glanced down as their large collection of the strong-scented herbs. Edited August 17, 2013 by SpiritWolfe Share this post Link to post
Posted August 17, 2013 ((sorry I'm late)) Oddstep nodded. "If there's moss anywhere, it'll probably be somewhere wet. I think that a river runs nearby. Can you smell it from here?" She sniffed the air herself, but couldn't get a decent lock on it. Share this post Link to post
Posted August 17, 2013 ((I'm not at my house so there won't be any color)) Distantpaw-Riverclan Maybe I should just tell Featherfoot. He thought. "Hi Featherfoot." He said softly not used to talking. "Can you keep a secret?" He asked hoping he could. He was the only one who would say hello to him so Distantpaw trusted him. Share this post Link to post
Posted August 17, 2013 (edited) Mousefur-Riverclan Nodding in agreement, Mousefur came to a halt beside the river. "Well, they're around here somewhere... I buried them under the pebbles." Frowning, she continued to sniff sround where she thought she'd buried them. Fiding no trace, she sat up irritably, tail tip twitching. "I'm sure it was around hre somewhere!" Wolfspirit~Thunderclan Waking up from her nap in the middle of the clearing, Wolfspirit yawned and stretched, tai flopping over her back lazily. Sitting up, she spotted the old bracken she had started to drag towards the entrance. Getting up, the queen began to drag it again, her swollen belly sometimes brushing the ground. ((@SpiritWolfe; Leafshade should probably tell Wolfspirit off, a queen so close to kitting shouldn't strain herself this much... )) Edited August 17, 2013 by Zanzibar79 Share this post Link to post
Posted August 18, 2013 "Ok thanks Leafshade." He walked across the clearing and went to where all the warriors slept. He curled up in a ball and waited till Sootclaw came back. Dawnstar woke with a sudden jolt. How long have I BEEN SLEEPING FOR! She quickly jumped to her feet and went into the nursery. " Hello Liliashine. It's a nice morning today. Say, when do you think you will be expecting your kits? I am so happy that there will be more warriors once yours grow up!" Share this post Link to post
